And she said unto
Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to
call my sin to
remembrance, and to
slay my son?
“O man of God,” said the woman to
Elijah, “what have you done to me? Have you come to remind me of my iniquity and cause the death of my son?”
And
Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now
Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
and
Ahab summoned
Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace. (Now
Obadiah greatly feared the LORD,
And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
Then you may call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people answered, “What you say is good.”
And
Elijah said unto the prophets of
Baal, Choose you one
bullock for
yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and
call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
Then
Elijah said to the prophets of
Baal, “Since you are so numerous, choose for
yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then
call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.”
And they took the
bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and
called on the name of
Baal from morning even until
noon, saying, O
Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they
leaped upon the altar which was made.
And they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and
called on the name of
Baal from morning until
noon,
shouting, “O
Baal, answer us!” But there was no sound, and no one answered as they
leaped around the altar they had made.
Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
Then the king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said, “Please take note and see that this man is looking for trouble, for when he demanded my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, I did not deny him.”
Then the king of Israel
called an officer, and said,
Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”
And the
messenger that was gone to
call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
Then the
messenger who had gone to
call Micaiah
instructed him, “Behold now, with one
accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak
favorably.”
And he turned back, and looked on them, and
cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and
tare forty and two children of them.
Then he turned around, looked at them, and
called down a
curse on them in the name of the LORD. Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods and
mauled forty-two of the boys.
And the king of Israel said,
Alas! that the LORD hath
called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!
“
Alas,” said the king of Israel, “for the LORD has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”
And
Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him,
Nay: for the LORD hath
called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
And he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call the Shunammite woman.” And when he had called her, she stood before him,
And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
“
Call her,” said
Elisha. So Gehazi
called her, and she stood in the
doorway.
And she
called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the
asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.
And the woman
called her husband and said, “Please send me one of the servants and one of the
donkeys, that I may go quickly to the man of God and return.”
And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son.
Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, “
Call the Shunammite woman.” So he
called her and she came. Then
Elisha said, “
Pick up your son.”
But
Naaman was
wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and
call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the
leper.
But
Naaman went away
angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out, stand and
call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the spot to cure my
leprosy.
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was
sore troubled for this thing; and he
called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not
shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
For this reason the king of
Aram became
enraged and
called his servants to demand of them, “Tell me, which one of us is on the side of the king of Israel?”
So they came and
called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses
tied, and
asses tied, and the tents as they were.
So they went and
called out to the gatekeepers of the city, saying, “We went to the
Aramean camp and no one was there—not a trace—only
tethered horses and
donkeys, and the tents were
intact.”
And he
called the
porters; and they told it to the king’s house within.
The gatekeepers
shouted the news, and it was reported to the king’s household.
Then spake
Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and
sojourn wheresoever thou canst
sojourn: for the LORD hath
called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
Now
Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, you and your household; go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine, and it has already come to the land.”
And
Elisha the prophet
called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him,
Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to
Ramoth-
gilead:
Now
Elisha the prophet summoned one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, “
Tuck your
cloak under your belt, take this
flask of oil, and go to
Ramoth-
gilead.
And there stood a
watchman on the tower in
Jezreel, and he
spied the company of
Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And
Joram said, Take an
horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
Now the
watchman standing on the tower in
Jezreel saw
Jehu’s troops approaching, and he
called out, “I see a company of troops!” “Choose a rider,”
Joram commanded. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Have you come in peace?’”
And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
He looked up at the window and called out, “Who is on my side? Who?” And two or three eunuchs looked down at him.
Now therefore
call unto me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to
Baal;
whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But
Jehu did it in
subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of
Baal.
Now, therefore,
summon to me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests. See that no one is missing, for I have a great sacrifice for
Baal.
Whoever is missing will not live.” But
Jehu was acting
deceptively in order to destroy the servants of
Baal.
Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
So King
Joash called Jehoiada and the other priests and said, “Why have you not repaired the damage to the temple? Now, therefore, take no more money from your
constituency, but hand it over for the repair of the temple.”
He
slew of
Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took
Selah by war, and
called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
Amaziah struck down 10,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. He took Sela in battle and
called it Joktheel, which is its name to this very day.
He removed the high places, and
brake the images, and cut down the groves, and
brake in pieces the
brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he
called it
Nehushtan.
He removed the high places,
shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He also
demolished the bronze
snake called Nehushtan that Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had burned incense to it.
And when they had
called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah the son of
Asaph the recorder.
Then they
called for the king; and Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace
administrator, Shebnah the
scribe, and Joah son of
Asaph the recorder, went out to them.
Then
Rab-shakeh stood and
cried with a loud voice in the Jews language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
Then the
Rabshakeh stood and
called out loudly in Hebrew: “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!
And Isaiah the prophet
cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the
dial of
Ahaz.
So Isaiah the prophet
called out to the LORD, and He brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the
stairway of
Ahaz.
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
And Jabez
called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest
bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not
grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
And Jabez
called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would
bless me and
enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from
harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez.
And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of
Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, which are
called by their names.
They assigned by lot the cities named above from the tribes of Judah,
Simeon, and Benjamin.
And Maachah the wife of Machir bare a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.
Machir’s wife
Maacah gave birth to a son, and she named him Peresh. His brother was named Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rekem.
And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.
And again he
slept with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. So he named him Beriah, because tragedy had come upon his house.
So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the Tent.
And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
So David took up residence in the fortress; that is why it was called the City of David.
And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the
cherubim—the ark that is
called by the Name.
And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is
called Perez-uzza to this day.
Then David became
angry because the LORD had
burst forth against Uzzah; so he named that place
Perez-uzzah, as it is
called to this day.
So they came up to
Baal-perazim; and David
smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they
called the name of that place
Baal-perazim.
So David and his men went up to
Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a
bursting flood, God has
burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they
called that place
Baal-perazim.
And David
called for
Zadok and
Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and
Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and
Amminadab,
Give
thanks unto the LORD,
call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
“Give
thanks to the LORD;
call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. He called upon the LORD, who answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David
called for his son Solomon and
instructed him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and
called the name of that on the right hand
Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.
Then he set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the south and one on the north. The
pillar on the south he named
Jachin, and the
pillar on the north he named Boaz.
Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger
calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as
doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is
called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
If my people, which are
called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will
heal their land.
and if My people who are
called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
forgive their sin, and
heal their land.
And they sent and
called him. So
Jeroboam and all Israel came and spake to
Rehoboam, saying,
And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding
trumpets to cry
alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not
prosper.
Now behold, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their
trumpets sound the battle
call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”
And the king of Israel
called for one of his officers, and said,
Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”
And the
messenger that went to
call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
Then the
messenger who had gone to
call Micaiah
instructed him, “Behold, with one
accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak
favorably.”
And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Beracah, where they blessed the LORD. Therefore that place is called the Valley of Beracah to this day.
And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?
So the king called Jehoiada the high priest and said, “Why have you not required the Levites to bring from Judah and Jerusalem the tax imposed by Moses the servant of the LORD and by the assembly of Israel for the Tent of the Testimony?”
Thus
Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but
slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.
Thus King
Joash failed to remember the kindness that
Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had extended to him. Instead,
Joash killed Jehoiada’s son. As he lay dying,
Zechariah said, “May the LORD see this and
call you to account.”
Then they
cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to
affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
Then the Assyrians
called out loudly in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to
frighten and
terrify them in order to capture the city.
And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:
And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).
Then I consulted with myself, and I
rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact
usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
and after serious thought I
rebuked the nobles and officials, saying, “You are exacting
usury from your own brothers!” So I
called a large assembly against them
Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
“We will restore it,” they replied, “and will require nothing more from them. We will do as you say.” So I summoned the priests and required of the nobles and officials an oath that they would do what they had promised.
And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).
Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but
hired Balaam against them, that he should
curse them:
howbeit our God turned the
curse into a blessing.
because they had not met the Israelites with food and water, but had
hired Balaam to
call down a
curse against them (although our God had turned the
curse into a blessing).
And I
contended with them, and
cursed them, and
smote certain of them, and
plucked off their hair, and made them
swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for
yourselves.
I
rebuked them and
called down curses on them. I beat some of these men and pulled out their hair. Then I made them take an oath before God and said, “You must not give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters as wives for your sons or for
yourselves!
In the evening she went, and on the
morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the
custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s
chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were
called by name.
She would go there in the evening, and in the morning she would return to a second
harem under the care of Shaashgaz, the king’s
eunuch in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless he delighted in her and summoned her by name.
Then were the king’s
scribes called on the
thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that
Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king
Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
On the
thirteenth day of the first month, the royal
scribes were summoned and the order was written exactly as
Haman commanded the royal satraps, the governors of each province, and the officials of each people, in the
script of each province and the language of every people. It was written in the name of King
Xerxes and sealed with the royal
signet ring.
Then
called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to
Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.
Then
Esther summoned Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs appointed to her, and she
dispatched him to
Mordecai to learn what was troubling him and why.
All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that
whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not
called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden
sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been
called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
“All the royal officials and the people of the king’s provinces know that one law applies to every man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned—that he be put to death. Only if the king extends the gold
scepter may that person live. But I have not been summoned to appear before the king for the past thirty days.”
Nevertheless
Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and
called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
Nevertheless,
Haman restrained himself and went home. And
calling for his friends and his wife Zeresh,
Then were the king’s
scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month
Sivan, on the three and
twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that
Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the
deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto
Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
At once the royal
scribes were summoned, and on the twenty-third day of the third month (the month of
Sivan), they recorded all of
Mordecai’s orders to the Jews and to the satraps, governors, and princes of the 127 provinces from India to
Cush—writing to each province in its own
script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own
script and language.
Wherefore they
called these days
Purim after the name of
Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,
Therefore these days are
called Purim, from the word
Pur. Because of all the instructions in this letter, and because of all they had seen and experienced,
And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
Job’s sons would take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would
invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints
wilt thou turn?
“Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
If I had
called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had
hearkened unto my voice.
If I summoned Him and He answered me, I do not believe He would
listen to my voice.
I am as one
mocked of his neighbour, who
calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is
laughed to
scorn.
Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
Then call me, and I will answer, or let me speak, and You can reply.
Thou shalt
call, and I will answer thee: thou
wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
You will call, and I will answer; You will desire the work of Your hands.
Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry
aloud, but there is no judgment.
Though I cry out, ‘Violence!’ I get no
response; though I
call for help, there is no justice.
I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
I
call for my servant, but he does not answer, though I
implore him with my own mouth.
Will he delight himself in the
Almighty? will he always
call upon God?
Will he delight in the
Almighty? Will he
call upon God at all times?
When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
For those who heard me
called me blessed, and those who saw me
commended me,
What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
what will I do when God rises to judge? How will I answer when called to account?
If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
If I have put my trust in gold or called pure gold my security,
And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.
He named his first daughter Jemimah, his second Keziah, and his third Keren-happuch.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved my distress; show me grace and hear my prayer.
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.
Wherefore
doth the wicked
contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou
wilt not require it.
Why has the wicked man
renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never
call me to account.”
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Break the arm of the wicked and
evildoer;
call him to account for his wickedness until none is left to be found.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They
devour my people like bread; they refuse to
call upon the LORD.
I have
called upon thee, for thou
wilt hear me, O God:
incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
I
call on You, O God, for You will answer me.
Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
In my distress I
called upon the LORD, and
cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
In my distress I
called upon the LORD; I
cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for His help reached His ears.
Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.
O LORD, save the king. Answer us on the day we call.
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
Hear, O LORD, my voice when I
call; be
merciful and answer me.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
To You, O LORD, I
call; be not
deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent, I will be like those descending to the Pit.
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy
oracle.
Hear my cry for mercy when I call to You for help, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
To You, O LORD, I
called, and I
begged my Lord for mercy:
Let me not be
ashamed, O LORD; for I have
called upon thee: let the wicked be
ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
O LORD, let me not be
ashamed, for I have
called on You. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them lie silent in
Sheol.
For I said in my
haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I
cried unto thee.
In my
alarm I said, “I am cut off from Your sight!” But You heard my
plea for mercy when I
called to You for help.
This poor man
cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
Deep
calls to deep in the
roar of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and waves have rolled over me.
