We have therefore brought an
oblation for the LORD, what every man hath
gotten, of jewels of gold,
chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an
atonement for our souls before the LORD.
So we have brought to the LORD an offering of the gold articles each man acquired—armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces—to make
atonement for ourselves before the LORD.”

crescent ornaments, the pendants, the purple garments of the kings of
Midian, and the
chains from the necks of their camels.

And if men are bound with
chains, caught in cords of
affliction,
Canst thou bind the sweet influences of
Pleiades, or loose the bands of
Orion?
Let us break their bands
asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
“Let us break Their chains and cast away Their cords.”
God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with
chains: but the
rebellious dwell in a dry land.
God settles the
lonely in families; He leads the prisoners out to prosperity, but the
rebellious dwell in a sun-
scorched land.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Therefore pride is their
necklace; a garment of violence covers them.
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in
affliction and iron;
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in
affliction and
chains,
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and
brake their bands in
sunder.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.
To bind their kings with
chains, and their nobles with
fetters of iron;
to bind their kings with
chains and their nobles with
shackles of iron,
For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
For they are a
garland of grace on your head and a
pendant around your neck.
And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands:
whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be taken by her.
And I find more bitter than death the woman who is a
snare, whose heart is a net, and whose hands are
chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the
sinner is ensnared.

ravished my heart, my sister, my
spouse; thou hast

chain of thy neck.

glance of your eyes, with one
jewel of your neck.
The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
their pendants, bracelets, and veils;

chains?
Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and
merchandise of
Ethiopia and of the
Sabeans, men of
stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in
chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make
supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
This is what the LORD says: “The products of Egypt and the
merchandise of
Cush, along with the
Sabeans, men of
stature, will come over to you and will be yours; they will
trudge behind you; they will come over in
chains and bow down to you. They will
confess to you: ‘God is indeed with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.’”
Shake off your dust! Rise up and sit on your throne, O Jerusalem. Remove the
chains from your neck, O
captive Daughter of
Zion.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to
undo the heavy burdens, and to let the
oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to break the
chains of wickedness, to
untie the cords of the yoke, to set the
oppressed free and
tear off every yoke?
For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and
burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not
transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the
harlot.
“For long ago you broke your yoke and
tore off your
chains, saying, ‘I will not serve!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every green tree you lay down as a
prostitute.
I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and
burst the bonds.
I will go to the powerful and speak to them. Surely they know the way of the LORD, the justice of their God.” But they too, with one
accord, had broken the yoke and
torn off the
chains.

Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with
chains, to carry him to Babylon.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him with bronze
chains to take him to Babylon.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from
Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in
chains among all that were carried away
captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away
captive unto Babylon.
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had released him at
Ramah, having found him bound in
chains among all the
captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon.
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the
chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon,
forbear: behold, all the land is before thee:
whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
But now, behold, I am freeing you
today from the
chains that were on your wrists. If it pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”
Then he put out the eyes of
Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in
chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.

Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him with bronze
shackles, and took him to Babylon, where he kept him in
custody until his dying day.
He hath
hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my
chain heavy.
He has walled me in so I cannot escape; He has
weighed me down with
chains.
Make a
chain: for the land is full of
bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
Forge the
chain, for the land is full of crimes of
bloodshed, and the city is full of violence.
I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
I adorned you with
jewelry, and I put bracelets on your wrists and a
chain around your neck.

roar was heard no longer on the mountains of Israel.
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a
chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold
chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a
chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold
chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”

Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a
chain of gold about his neck, and made a
proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

chain around his neck, and proclaimed him the third highest ruler in the kingdom.
Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in
chains.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her
dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in
chains.
Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
This man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.
Because that he had been often bound with
fetters and
chains, and the
chains had been
plucked asunder by him, and the
fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man
tame him.
Though he was often bound with
chains and
shackles, he had broken the
chains and
shattered the
shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to
subdue him.
(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For
oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with
chains and in
fetters; and he
brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with
chains and
shackles, he had broken the
chains and been driven by the
demon into solitary places.
And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
On the night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, with sentries standing guard at the entrance to the prison.
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light
shined in the prison: and he
smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his
chains fell off from his hands.
Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light
shone in the cell. He
tapped Peter on the side and
woke him up, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the
chains fell off his wrists.
And suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were
shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions
abide me.
I only know that in town after town the Holy Spirit warns me that
chains and afflictions
await me.
Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
The commander came up and arrested Paul, ordering that he be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.
Then
straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
Then those who were about to
interrogate Paul
stepped back, and the commander himself was
alarmed when he realized that he had put a Roman citizen in
chains.
And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
“Short time or long,” Paul replied, “I wish to God that not only you but all who hear me this day may become what I am, except for these chains.”
For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
So for this reason I have called to see you and speak with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
for which I am an ambassador in
chains. Pray that I may
proclaim it
fearlessly, as I should.
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and
confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart. For in my
chains and in my
defense and
confirmation of the gospel, you are all partners in grace with me.
So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to
everyone else that I am in
chains for Christ.
And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing
confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
And most of the brothers,
confident in the Lord by my
chains, now
dare more greatly to speak the word without fear.
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
The former, however,
preach Christ out of
selfish ambition, not
sincerely, supposing that they can add to the distress of my
chains.
Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of
utterance, to speak the
mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
as you pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, so that we may
proclaim the
mystery of Christ, for which I am in
chains.
The
salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you.
Amen.
This
greeting is in my own hand—Paul. Remember my
chains. Grace be with you.
The Lord give mercy unto the house of
Onesiphorus; for he
oft refreshed me, and was not
ashamed of my
chain:
May the Lord grant mercy to the household of
Onesiphorus, because he has often refreshed me and was unashamed of my
chains.
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil
doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
for which I suffer to the extent of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained!
I appeal to you for my child
Onesimus, whose father I became while I was in
chains.
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy
stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
I would have liked to keep him with me, so that on your behalf he could minister to me in my chains for the gospel.
And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings,
yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
For if God
spared not the angels that
sinned, but cast them down to
hell, and delivered them into
chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
For if God did not
spare the angels when they
sinned, but cast them deep into
hell, placing them in
chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
And the angels who did not stay within their own
domain but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal
chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the
Abyss, holding in his hand a great
chain.

As, to be clothed in purple, to drink in gold, and to sleep upon gold, and a
chariot with bridles of gold, and an
headtire of fine linen, and a
chain about his neck:
And she took
sandals upon her feet, and put about her her bracelets, and her
chains, and her rings, and her earrings, and all her ornaments, and decked herself
bravely, to
allure the eyes of all men that should see her.
For whether he were
husbandman, or
shepherd, or a labourer in the field, he was overtaken, and
endured that necessity, which could not be avoided: for they were all bound with one
chain of darkness.
And put thy feet into her
fetters, and thy neck into her
chain.
Then shall her
fetters be a strong defence for thee, and her
chains a
robe of glory.
