Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they
slew a man, and in their selfwill they
digged down a wall.
May I never enter their
council; may I never join their assembly. For they kill men in their anger, and
hamstring oxen on a
whim.
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and
dost thou restrain wisdom to
thyself?
There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their
council, the princes of
Zebulun, and the princes of
Naphtali.
There is Benjamin, the youngest, ruling them, the princes of Judah in their company, the princes of
Zebulun and of
Naphtali.
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
In the
council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and
awesome above all who
surround Him.
Let them
exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
Let them
exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the
council of the elders.
Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
Hallelujah! I will give
thanks to the LORD with all my heart in the
council of the upright and in the assembly.
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
But which of them has stood in the
council of the LORD to see and hear His word? Who has given
heed to His word and obeyed it?
But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds.”
And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
But I say unto you, That
whosoever is
angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and
whosoever shall say to his brother,
Raca, shall be in danger of the
council: but
whosoever shall say, Thou
fool, shall be in danger of
hell fire.
But I tell you that
anyone who is
angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again,
anyone who says to his brother, ‘
Raca,’ will be subject to the
Sanhedrin. But
anyone who says, ‘You
fool!’ will be subject to the fire of
hell.
But
beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the
councils, and they will
scourge you in their synagogues;
But
beware of men; for they will hand you over to their
councils and
flog you in their synagogues.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death.
But take
heed to
yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to
councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
So be on your guard. You will be delivered over to the councils and beaten in the synagogues. On My account you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

Sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they did not find any.
And
straightway in the morning the chief priests held a
consultation with the elders and
scribes and the whole
council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to
Pilate.

Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the
scribes came together, and led him into their
council, saying,
At
daybreak the
council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and
scribes, met together. They led Jesus into their
Sanhedrin and said,
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto
Pilate.
Then the whole
council rose and led Jesus away to
Pilate.
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
Now there was a Council member named Joseph, a good and righteous man,
Then gathered the chief priests and the
Pharisees a
council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
So they ordered them to leave the
Sanhedrin and then conferred together.
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel and sent to the prison to have them brought.
At
daybreak the apostles entered the temple courts as they had been told and began to teach the people. When the high priest and his associates arrived, they
convened the
Sanhedrin—the full assembly of the elders of Israel—and sent to the
jail for the apostles.
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to
slay them.
When the
Council members heard this, they were
enraged, and they resolved to put the apostles to death.
Then stood there up one in the
council, a
Pharisee, named
Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

Pharisee named
Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was honored by all the people, stood up in the
Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a short time.
And they departed from the presence of the
council,
rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

And they
stirred up the people, and the elders, and the
scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the
council,
And all that sat in the
council, looking
stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
All who were sitting in the
Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
As also the high priest
doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
as the high priest and the whole
Council can
testify about me. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to
apprehend these people and bring them to Jerusalem to be punished.
On the
morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their
council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
The next day the commander, wanting to learn the real reason Paul was accused by the Jews, released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole
Sanhedrin to
assemble. Then he brought Paul down and had him stand before them.
And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
Paul looked directly at the
Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have conducted myself before God in all good conscience to this day.”
But when Paul perceived that the one part were
Sadducees, and the other
Pharisees, he
cried out in the
council, Men and brethren, I am a
Pharisee, the son of a
Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
Then Paul, knowing that some of them were
Sadducees and others
Pharisees, called out in the
Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a
Pharisee, the son of a
Pharisee. It is because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
Now therefore ye with the
council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to
morrow, as though ye would
enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
Now then, you and the
Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him down to you on the pretext of examining his case more carefully. We are ready to kill him on the way.”
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to
morrow into the
council, as though they would
enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
He answered, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul to the
Sanhedrin tomorrow on the pretext of acquiring more information about him.
And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:
and since I wanted to understand their charges against him, I brought him down to their
Sanhedrin.
Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
Otherwise, let these men state for themselves any crime they found in me when I stood before the
Sanhedrin,

council of Holofernes, and all the words that he had spoken in the midst of the princes of Assur, and
whatsoever Holofernes had spoken proudly against the house of Israel.
Now as concerning the matter, which Achior did speak in thy council, we have heard his words; for the men of Bethulia saved him, and he declared unto them all that he had spoken unto thee.
Moreover how they had made for themselves a senate house, wherein three hundred and twenty men sat in
council daily,
consulting alway for the people, to the end they might be well ordered:

hither, who shall take them all in one night.

fourscore and eighth year, the people that were at Jerusalem and in

anointed priests, and to the Jews that were in Egypt:
And the letter of the king unto the nation of the Jews was after this manner: King
Antiochus sendeth
greeting unto the
council, and the rest of the Jews:
