Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And if thy brother be
waxen poor, and fallen in
decay with thee; then thou shalt
relieve him:
yea, though he be a stranger, or a
sojourner; that he may live with thee.
Now if your
countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.
And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the
iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
Those of you who
survive in the lands of your enemies will waste away in their iniquity and will
decay in the sins of their fathers.
And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is
decayed, and there is much
rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Meanwhile, the people of Judah said: “The strength of the laborer fails, and there is so much
rubble that we will never be able to rebuild the wall.”
As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
As water disappears from the sea and a river becomes
parched and dry,
For thou
wilt not leave my soul in
hell; neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
For You will not
abandon my soul to
Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see
decay.
That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
that he should live on
forever and not see
decay.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall
consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Like sheep they are destined for
Sheol. Death will be their
shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will
decay in
Sheol, far from their lofty abode.
A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but she who causes shame is like decay in his bones.
By much
slothfulness the building
decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.
Through
laziness the roof caves in, and in the hands of the idle, the house leaks.
Therefore as the fire devoureth the
stubble, and the flame consumeth the
chaff, so their root shall be as
rottenness, and their
blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will
decay and their blossoms will blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of Hosts and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
who confirms the message of His servant and fulfills the counsel of His messengers, who says of Jerusalem, ‘She will be inhabited,’ and of the cities of Judah, ‘They will be rebuilt, and I will restore their ruins,’
Concerning
Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the
prudent? is their wisdom
vanished?
Concerning
Edom, this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the
prudent? Has their wisdom
decayed?
Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a
moth, and to the house of Judah as
rottenness.
So I am like a
moth to Ephraim, and like
decay to the house of Judah.
When I heard, my
belly trembled; my lips
quivered at the voice:
rottenness entered into my bones, and I
trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will
invade them with his troops.
I heard and
trembled within; my lips
quivered at the sound.
Decay entered my bones; I
trembled where I stood. Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who
invade us.
Because thou
wilt not leave my soul in
hell, neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
because You will not
abandon my soul to Hades, nor will You let Your Holy One see
decay.
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in
hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did His body see
decay.
And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure
mercies of David.
In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’
Wherefore he saith also in another
psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
So also, He says in another
Psalm: ‘You will not let Your Holy One see
decay.’
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell
asleep. His body was buried with his fathers and saw
decay.
But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
But the One whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the
bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
that the creation itself will be set free from its
bondage to
decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which
decayeth and waxeth old is ready to
vanish away.
By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and
aging will soon disappear.
Now therefore, my son, love thy brethren, and
despise not in thy heart thy brethren, the sons and daughters of thy people, in not taking a wife of them: for in pride is destruction and much trouble, and in
lewdness is
decay and great want: for
lewdness is the mother of famine.
They said one to another, Let us restore the decayed fortune of our people, and let us fight for our people and the sanctuary.
Wherefore he went in all
haste, and said to the king and the captains of the host and the company, We
decay daily, and our
victuals are but small, and the place we lay siege unto is strong, and the affairs of the kingdom lie upon us:
Afterward
Jonathan, and Simon, and they that were with him, got them away to Bethbasi, which is in the wilderness, and they repaired the
decays thereof, and made it strong.
