And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the
herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and
whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
And he said unto him, Take me an
heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a
turtledove, and a young
pigeon.
And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a
heifer, a goat, and a ram,
each three years old, along with a
turtledove and a young
pigeon.”
And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
So
Abram brought all these to Him, split
each of them down the middle, and laid the
halves opposite
each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.
And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to
enquire of the LORD.
But the children inside her struggled with
each other, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So
Rebekah went to inquire of the LORD,
And they rose up
betimes in the morning, and
sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
And they got up early the next morning and
swore an oath to
each other. Then Isaac sent them on their way, and they left him in peace.
And
Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.
It was also called
Mizpah, because
Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from
each other.
And it came to pass on the third day, when they were
sore, that two of the sons of Jacob,
Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took
each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and
slew all the males.
Three days later, while they were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons (Dinah’s brothers
Simeon and Levi) took their swords, went into the
unsuspecting city, and slaughtered every male.
And they dreamed a dream both of them,
each man his dream in one night,
each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the
butler and the
baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
both of these men—the Egyptian king’s
cupbearer and
baker, who were being held in the prison—had a dream on the same night, and
each dream had its own meaning.
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
One night both the chief
baker and I had dreams, and
each dream had its own meaning.
And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to
each man according to his dream he did
interpret.
Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams and he interpreted them for us individually.
Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his
sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.
Then Joseph gave orders to fill their bags with grain, to return
each man’s silver to his
sack, and to give them provisions for their journey. This order was carried out,
And it came to pass as they
emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s
bundle of money was in his
sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
As they began emptying their sacks, there in
each man’s
sack was his
bag of silver! And when they and their father saw the bags of silver, they were dismayed.
And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his
sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
But when we came to the place we
lodged for the night, we opened our sacks and, behold,
each of us found his silver in the mouth of his
sack! It was the full amount of our silver, and we have brought it back with us.
And he commanded the
steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his
sack’s mouth.
Then Joseph
instructed his
steward: “Fill the men’s sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put
each one’s silver in the mouth of his
sack.
Then they speedily took down every man his
sack to the ground, and opened every man his
sack.
So
each one quickly lowered his
sack to the ground and opened it.
Moreover he
kissed all his brethren, and
wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.
Joseph
kissed each of his brothers as he
wept over them. And afterward his brothers talked with him.
To all of them he gave
each man changes of
raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of
raiment.
He gave new garments to each of them, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels of silver and five sets of clothes.
All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
These are the tribes of Israel, twelve in all, and this was what their father said to them. He blessed them, and he blessed each one with a suitable blessing.
Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:

The taskmasters kept pressing them, saying, “
Fulfill your
quota each day, just as you did when straw was provided.”
For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod
swallowed up their rods.
Each one threw down his staff, and it became a serpent. But Aaron’s staff
swallowed up the other staffs.
Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man must select a lamb for his family, one per household.
Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the
passover.
Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and told them, “Go at once and select for
yourselves a lamb for
each family, and slaughter the
Passover lamb.
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test whether or not they will follow My instructions.
This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an
omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘
Each one is to gather as much as he needs. You may take an
omer for
each person in your tent.’”
And when they did
mete it with an
omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
When they measured it by the
omer, he who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no shortfall.
Each one gathered as much as he needed to eat.
And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
Every morning each one gathered as much as was needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.
But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat
thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did
obeisance, and
kissed him; and they asked
each other of their
welfare; and they came into the tent.
So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and
kissed him. They
greeted each other and went into the tent.
And the
cherubim shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
And the
cherubim are to have wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The
cherubim are to face
each other, looking toward the mercy seat.
Three
bowls made like unto almonds, with a
knop and a flower in one branch; and three
bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a
knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the
candlestick.
There are to be three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch,
each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extend from the lampstand.
Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine
twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of
cunning work shalt thou make them.
“You are to construct the tabernacle itself with ten curtains of finely
spun linen,
each with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and
cherubim skillfully worked into them.
The length of one
curtain shall be eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of one
curtain four cubits: and every one of the curtains shall have one measure.
Each curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide—all curtains the same size.
The length of one
curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of one
curtain four cubits: and the eleven curtains shall be all of one measure.
Each of the eleven curtains is to be the same size—thirty cubits long and four cubits wide.
Ten cubits shall be the length of a board, and a
cubit and a half shall be the breadth of one board.
Each frame is to be ten cubits long and a
cubit and a half wide.
Two tenons shall there be in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
Two tenons must be connected to each other for each frame. Make all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
And thou shalt make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.
with forty silver bases under the twenty frames—two bases for
each frame, one under
each tenon.
And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
and forty silver bases—two bases under each frame.
And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
So there are to be eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame.
And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.
Make a horn on each of its four corners, so that the horns are of one piece, and overlay it with bronze.
And thou shalt make for it a
grate of network of brass; and upon the net shalt thou make four
brasen rings in the four corners thereof.
Construct for it a
grate of bronze
mesh, and make a bronze ring at
each of the four corners of the
mesh.
And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar, each day: two lambs that are a year old.
When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a
ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
“When you take a census of the Israelites to number them,
each man must pay the LORD a
ransom for his life when he is counted. Then no plague will come upon them when they are numbered.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices,
stacte, and
onycha, and
galbanum; these sweet spices with pure
frankincense: of
each shall there be a like weight:
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and
slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
He told them, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘
Each of you men is to
fasten his sword to his side, go back and forth through the camp from gate to gate, and
slay his brother, his friend, and his
neighbor.’”
For Moses had said,
Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may
bestow upon you a blessing this day.
Afterward, Moses said, “
Today you have been ordained for service to the LORD, since
each man went against his son and his brother; so the LORD has bestowed a blessing on you this day.”
And all the people saw the
cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.
When all the people saw the
pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they would stand up and worship,
each one at the entrance to his own tent.
The length of one
curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth of one
curtain four cubits: the curtains were all of one size.
Each curtain was twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide; all the curtains were the same size.
The length of one
curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was the breadth of one
curtain: the eleven curtains were of one size.
Each of the eleven curtains was the same size—thirty cubits long and four cubits wide.
The length of a board was ten cubits, and the breadth of a board one
cubit and a half.
Each frame was ten cubits long and a
cubit and a half wide.
One board had two tenons, equally distant one from another: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
Two tenons were connected to each other for each frame. He made all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
And forty sockets of silver he made under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.
with forty silver bases to put under the twenty frames—two bases for
each frame, one under
each tenon.
And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
and forty silver bases—two bases under each frame.
And there were eight boards; and their sockets were sixteen sockets of silver, under every board two sockets.
So there were eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame.
And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.
And the
cherubim had wings that spread upward, overshadowing the mercy seat. The
cherubim faced
each other, looking toward the mercy seat.
Three
bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a
knop and a flower; and three
bowls made like almonds in another branch, a
knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the
candlestick.
There were three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch,
each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extended from the lampstand.
And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass.
He made a horn at each of its four corners, so that the horns and altar were of one piece, and he overlaid the altar with bronze.
And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And every
oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt. You must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering; you are to add salt to each of your offerings.
And of it he shall offer one out of the whole
oblation for an
heave offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest’s that sprinkleth the blood of the peace offerings.
From the cakes he must present one portion of each offering as a contribution to the LORD. It belongs to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offering.
Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must keep My Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave
loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be
baken with
leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
Bring two
loaves of bread from your dwellings as a wave offering,
each made from two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour,
baked with
leaven, as the firstfruits to the LORD.
These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
These are the LORD’s appointed feasts, which you are to
proclaim as sacred
assemblies for presenting offerings by fire to the LORD—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings,
each on its designated day.
And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall
celebrate it in the seventh month.
You are to
celebrate this as a feast to the LORD for seven days
each year. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come; you are to
celebrate it in the seventh month.
And thou shalt take fine flour, and
bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one
cake.
You are also to take fine flour and
bake twelve
loaves, using two-tenths of an
ephah for
each loaf,
And thou shalt put pure
frankincense upon
each row, that it may be on the bread for a
memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And you are to place pure
frankincense near
each row, so that it may serve as a
memorial portion for the bread, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And ye shall
hallow the
fiftieth year, and
proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
So you are to
consecrate the
fiftieth year and
proclaim liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be your
Jubilee, when
each of you is to return to his property and to his clan.
In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
In this Year of
Jubilee,
each of you shall return to his own property.
And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not
oppress one another:
If you make a sale to your
neighbor or a purchase from him, you must not take advantage of
each other.
Ye shall not therefore
oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.
Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.
And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the
ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
“The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they
encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.
In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they
encamped,
each in his own place under his standard.
And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.
So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
Thou shalt even take five shekels
apiece by the
poll, after the
shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the
shekel is twenty gerahs:)
you are to collect five shekels for
each one, according to the sanctuary
shekel of twenty gerahs.
But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and
appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and
assign each man his task and what he is to carry.
According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.
At the LORD’s command they were numbered through Moses and each one was assigned his work and burden, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And every man’s
hallowed things shall be his:
whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.”
And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a
wagon for two of the princes, and for
each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
They brought as their offering before the LORD six covered carts and twelve oxen—an ox from
each leader and a
cart from every two leaders—and presented them before the tabernacle.
Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
“Accept these gifts from them, that they may be used in the work of the Tent of Meeting. And give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall offer their offering,
each prince on his day, for the
dedicating of the altar.
And the LORD said to Moses, “
Each day one leader is to present his offering for the
dedication of the altar.”
Each charger of silver weighing an hundred and thirty shekels,
each bowl seventy: all the silver vessels
weighed two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the
shekel of the sanctuary:
Each silver
platter weighed a hundred and thirty shekels, and
each silver
bowl seventy shekels. The total weight of the silver articles was two thousand four hundred shekels, according to the sanctuary
shekel.
The golden spoons were twelve, full of incense, weighing ten shekels
apiece, after the
shekel of the sanctuary: all the gold of the spoons was an hundred and twenty shekels.
The twelve gold dishes filled with incense
weighed ten shekels
each, according to the sanctuary
shekel. The total weight of the gold dishes was a hundred and twenty shekels.
Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of
each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
Send thou men, that they may search the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
“Send out for
yourself men to
spy out the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From
each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”
After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days,
each day for a year, shall ye bear your
iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
In keeping with the forty days you
spied out the land, you shall bear your guilt forty years—a year for
each day—and you will experience My
alienation.
And the fourth part of an
hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.
With the burnt offering or sacrifice of
each lamb, you are to prepare a quarter
hin of wine as a drink offering.
Thus shall it be done for one
bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a
kid.
This is to be done for each bull, ram, lamb, or goat.
According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
This is how you must prepare each one, no matter how many.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and
bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the
fringe of the borders a
ribband of blue:
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that throughout the generations to come they are to make for themselves tassels for the corners of their garments, with a blue cord on
each tassel.
And take every man his
censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD every man his
censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron,
each of you his
censer.
Each man is to take his
censer, place incense in it, and present it before the LORD—250 censers. You and Aaron are to present your censers as well.”
And they took every man his
censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense
thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
So
each man took his
censer, put fire and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
“Speak to the Israelites and take from them twelve staffs, one from the leader of each tribe. Write each man’s name on his staff,
And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
and write Aaron’s name on the staff of Levi, because there must be one staff for the head of each tribe.
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod
apiece, for
each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff—one for each of the leaders of their tribes, twelve staffs in all. And Aaron’s staff was among them.
