sod pottage: and

faint:

Canaan had been exhausted by the famine.

faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a
shaken leaf shall
chase them; and they shall
flee, as
fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
As for those of you who
survive, I will send a
faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that even the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. And they will
flee as one flees the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.

loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be
faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of

faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to
abide at the
brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he
saluted them.
When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the
Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he
greeted them,
And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The
asses be for the king’s household to
ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be
faint in the wilderness may drink.

ride, the bread and summer fruit are for the young men to eat, and the wine is to refresh those who become exhausted in the wilderness.”

For God maketh my heart soft, and the
Almighty troubleth me:
Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the
thunder of his power who can understand?
Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how
faint is the
whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the
thunder of His power?”
I had
fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Still I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is
overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
From the ends of the earth I call out to You whenever my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
My soul longeth,
yea, even
fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
My soul longs, even
faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
My soul
faints for Your salvation; I wait for Your word.
When my spirit was
overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they
privily laid a
snare for me.
Although my spirit grows
faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a
snare for me.
My spirit grows faint within me; my heart is dismayed inside me.
If thou
faint in the day of
adversity, thy strength is small.
If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!
And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the
grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
when the doors to the street are shut and the sound of the mill fades away, when one rises at the sound of a bird and all the daughters of song grow faint,
Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
Sustain me with
raisins; refresh me with apples, for I am
faint with love.
Why should ye be
stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart
faint.

afflicted.
And say unto him, Take
heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be
fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
and say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Do not be afraid or
disheartened over these two
smoldering stubs of
firewood—over the fierce anger of Rezin and
Aram and of the son of Remaliah.
And shall
consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer
fainteth.
The
splendor of its forests and orchards, both soul and body, it will completely destroy, as a sickness consumes a man.
Therefore shall all hands be
faint, and every man’s heart shall
melt:
Therefore all hands will fall
limp, and every man’s heart will
melt.
It shall even be as when an
hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a
thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is
faint, and his soul hath
appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount
Zion.
as when a
hungry man dreams he is eating, then awakens still
hungry; as when a
thirsty man dreams he is drinking, then awakens
faint and
parched. So will it be for all the many nations who go to battle against Mount
Zion.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the
everlasting God, the LORD, the
Creator of the ends of the earth,
fainteth not, neither is
weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the
everlasting God, the
Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow
tired or
weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.

faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk and not
faint.
The smith with the
tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms:
yea, he is
hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is
faint.
The
blacksmith takes a tool and labors over the coals; he fashions an
idol with hammers and forges it with his strong arms. Yet he grows
hungry and loses his strength; he fails to drink water and grows
faint.
Thy sons have
fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the
fury of the LORD, the
rebuke of thy God.
Your sons have
fainted; they lie at the head of every street, like an
antelope in a net. They are full of the wrath of the LORD, the
rebuke of your God.
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in
travail, and the
anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of
Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying,
Woe is me now! for my soul is
wearied because of murderers.
For I hear a cry like a woman in labor, a cry of
anguish like one bearing her first child— the cry of the Daughter of
Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands to say, “
Woe is me, for my soul
faints before the murderers!”
When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.
My sorrow is beyond
healing; my heart is
faint within me.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been
ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
The mother of seven will grow
faint; she will
breathe her last breath. Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced and
humiliated. And the rest I will put to the sword in the presence of their enemies,” declares the LORD.
Thou
didst say,
Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I
fainted in my
sighing, and I find no rest.
You have said, ‘
Woe is me because the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am worn out with
groaning and have found no rest.’”
Concerning Damascus.
Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil
tidings: they are
fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
Concerning Damascus: “
Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard a bad report; they are
agitated like the sea; their
anxiety cannot be calmed.
And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
Do not let your heart grow
faint, and do not be afraid when the
rumor is heard in the land; for a
rumor will come one year— and then another the next year— of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler.
From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me
desolate and
faint all the day.
He sent fire from on high, and it overpowered my bones. He spread a net for my feet and turned me back. He made me
desolate,
faint all the day long.
Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
Let all their wickedness come before You, and deal with them as You have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and my heart is faint.
Mine eyes do fail with tears, my
bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings
swoon in the streets of the city.
My eyes fail from
weeping; I am
churning within. My heart is poured out in grief over the destruction of the daughter of my people, because children and infants
faint in the streets of the city.
They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they
swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers’
bosom.
They cry out to their mothers: “Where is the grain and wine?” as they
faint like the wounded in the streets of the city, as their lives
fade away in the arms of their mothers.
Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

fainting from hunger on the corner of every street.
For this our heart is
faint; for these things our eyes are
dim.
Because of this, our hearts are
faint; because of these, our eyes grow
dim—
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may
faint, and their ruins be multiplied:
ah! it is made bright, it is
wrapped up for the slaughter.
So that their hearts may
melt and many may
stumble, I have appointed at all their gates a sword for slaughter.
Yes, it is ready to
flash like
lightning; it is drawn for slaughter.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a
mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused
Lebanon to
mourn for him, and all the trees of the field
fainted for him.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the day it was brought down to
Sheol, I caused
mourning. I covered the deep because of it; I held back its rivers; its abundant waters were restrained. I made
Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field
fainted because of it.
And I Daniel
fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was
astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

In that day shall the fair virgins and young men
faint for
thirst.
In that day the lovely young women— the young men as well— will
faint from
thirst.

fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
As my life was
fading away, I remembered the LORD. My prayer went up to You, to Your holy temple.
And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a
vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of
Jonah, that he
fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
As the sun was rising, God appointed a
scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on
Jonah’s head so that he grew
faint and wished to die, saying, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with
compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no
shepherd.
When He saw the crowds, He was moved with
compassion for them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a
shepherd.
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way.
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away
hungry, or they may
faint along the way.”

hungry, they will
faint along the way. For some of them have come a great distance.”

Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray at all times and not lose heart:
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be
shaken.
Men will
faint from fear and
anxiety over what is coming upon the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be
shaken.
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
Therefore, since God in His mercy has given us this ministry, we do not lose heart.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.
And let us not be
weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we
faint not.
Let us not grow
weary in well-doing, for in due time we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
So I ask you not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
Now we
exhort you, brethren,
warn them that are
unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
Consider Him who
endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
And you have forgotten the
exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you.
And hast borne, and hast
patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not
fainted.

fainted, and bowed herself upon the head of the
maid that went before her.

faintness.
Woe be to fearful hearts, and
faint hands, and the
sinner that goeth two ways!
Woe unto him that is
fainthearted! for he believeth not; therefore shall he not be defended.
Deliver him that suffereth wrong from the hand of the
oppressor; and be not
fainthearted when thou sittest in judgment.
Faint not to be strong in the Lord; that he may
confirm you,
cleave unto him: for the Lord
Almighty is God alone, and beside him there is no other Saviour.
