But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to
desolation; and a house divided against a house
falleth.
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and a house divided against a house will fall.
And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an
ass or an ox
fallen into a pit, and will not
straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
And He asked them, “Which of you whose son or ox falls into a pit on the Sabbath day will not immediately pull him out?”
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
Everyone who
falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it
falls will be
crushed.”
And they shall
fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away
captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be
trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
They will
fall by the edge of the sword and be led
captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem will be
trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
And being in an
agony he prayed more earnestly: and his
sweat was as it were great drops of blood
falling down to the ground.
And in His
anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His
sweat became like drops of blood
falling to the ground.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
At that time ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend
Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may
awake him out of sleep.
After He had said this, He told them, “Our friend
Lazarus has
fallen asleep, but I am going there to
wake him up.”
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat
fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a
kernel of wheat
falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be
offended.
“I have told you these things so that you will not fall away.
(Now with the reward for his wickedness
Judas bought a field; there he fell
headlong and
burst open in the middle, and all his intestines
spilled out.
Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.
And he
kneeled down, and
cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell
asleep.
Falling on his knees, he
cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell
asleep.
(For as yet he was
fallen upon none of them: only they were
baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
For the Holy Spirit had not yet
fallen upon any of them; they had simply been
baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as He had fallen upon us at the beginning.
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and
Silas by night unto
Berea: who coming thither went into the
synagogue of the Jews.
As soon as night had
fallen, the brothers sent Paul and
Silas away to
Berea. On arriving there, they went into the Jewish
synagogue.
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at
nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess
Diana should be
despised, and her
magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
There is danger not only that our business will
fall into
disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty
deposed—she who is worshiped by all the province of Asia and the whole world.”
And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being
fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third
loft, and was taken up dead.
And a certain young man named Eutychus, seated in the window, was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound
asleep, he fell from the third story and was
picked up dead.
And when we were all
fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to
kick against the pricks.
We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice say to me in Hebrew, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you
persecute Me? It is hard for you to
kick against the goads.’
Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should
fall into the quicksands,
strake sail, and so were driven.
After
hoisting it up, the
crew used ropes to
undergird the ship. And fearing that they would run
aground on the sandbars of
Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and were driven along.
Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
Fearing that we would run
aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for
daybreak.
Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.
Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
So for your own preservation, I
urge you to eat something, because not a single hair of your head will be lost.”
And
falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship
aground; and the
forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.
But the vessel struck a sandbar and ran
aground. The bow
stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was being broken up by the pounding of the waves.
Howbeit they looked when he should have
swollen, or
fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no
harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
The islanders were expecting him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.
For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
for all have
sinned and
fall short of the glory of God,
I say then, Have they
stumbled that they should
fall? God
forbid: but rather through their
fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to
provoke them to jealousy.
I ask then, did they
stumble so as to
fall beyond recovery? Certainly not! However, because of their
trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel
jealous.
Now if the
fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their
fulness?
But if their
trespass means riches for the world, and their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!
Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or
falleth.
Yea, he shall be
holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
Therefore let us stop judging one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any
stumbling block or
obstacle in your brother’s way.
For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who
insult You have
fallen on Me.”
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take
heed lest he
fall.
So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have
fallen asleep.
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
and the secrets of his heart will be made known. So he will
fall facedown and worship God,
proclaiming, “God is truly among you!”
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are
fallen asleep.
After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have
fallen asleep.
Then they also which are
fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
Then those also who have
fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that
slept.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have
fallen asleep.
Christ is become of no effect unto you,
whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are
fallen from grace.
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have
fallen out rather unto the
furtherance of the gospel;
Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have
fallen asleep in Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are
asleep.
By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means
precede those who have
fallen asleep.
Let no man
deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition;
Let no one
deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of
lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.
He must not be a recent convert, or he may become
conceited and
fall under the same
condemnation as the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he
fall into reproach and the
snare of the devil.
Furthermore, he must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not
fall into disgrace and into the
snare of the devil.
Those who want to be rich, however,
fall into
temptation and become ensnared by many
foolish and
harmful desires that
plunge them into ruin and destruction.
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be deemed to have fallen short of it.
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.
If they shall
fall away, to renew them again unto
repentance; seeing they
crucify to themselves the Son of God
afresh, and put him to an open shame.
and then have
fallen away—to be restored to
repentance, because they themselves are
crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.
For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh
oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
For land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is tended receives the blessing of God.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Looking
diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be
defiled;
See to it that no one
falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble and
defile many.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye
fall into
divers temptations;
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you
encounter trials of many kinds,
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof
falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man
fade away in his ways.
For the sun rises with
scorching heat and
withers the plant; its flower
falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will
fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the
husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long
patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer awaits the precious fruit of the soil—how patient he is for the fall and spring rains.
But above all things, my brethren,
swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your
yea be
yea; and your
nay,
nay; lest ye
fall into
condemnation.
Above all, my brothers, do not
swear, not by heaven or earth or by any other oath. Simply let your “
Yes” be
yes, and your “No,” no, so that you will not
fall under judgment.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
For, “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field; the grass
withers and the flowers
fall,
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never
fall:
Therefore, brothers,
strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never
stumble,
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked,
fall from your own
stedfastness.
Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Now to Him who is able to keep you from
stumbling and to present you
unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy—
Remember therefore from whence thou art
fallen, and
repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy
candlestick out of his place, except thou
repent.
Therefore, keep in mind how far you have
fallen.
Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not
repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
the twenty-four elders
fall down before the One seated on the throne, and they worship Him who lives
forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Then the fifth angel sounded his
trumpet, and I saw a star that had
fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the
Abyss.
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
These witnesses have power to shut the sky so that no rain will fall during the days of their prophecy, and power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish.
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is
fallen, is
fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication.
Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.
And he
cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is
fallen, is
fallen, and is become the
habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a
cage of every unclean and
hateful bird.
And he
cried out in a mighty voice: “
Fallen,
fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a
lair for demons and a
haunt for every unclean spirit, every unclean bird, and every
detestable beast.
As for the other people, which also come of Adam, thou hast said that they are nothing, but be like unto
spittle: and hast
likened the abundance of them unto a drop that
falleth from a vessel.
The entrance thereof is narrow, and is set in a dangerous place to fall, like as if there were a fire on the right hand, and on the left a deep water:
O thou Adam, what hast thou done? for though it was thou that
sinned, thou art not
fallen alone, but we all that come of thee.
Therefore will I begin to pray before thee for myself and for them: for I see the falls of us that dwell in the land.
For ask the earth, and she shall tell thee, that it is she which ought to
mourn for the
fall of so many that grow upon her.
Where is Uriel the angel, who came unto me at the first? for he hath caused me to
fall into many trances, and mine end is turned into corruption, and my prayer to
rebuke.
That after the time of that kingdom there shall arise great strivings, and it shall stand in
peril of failing: nevertheless it shall not then
fall, but shall be restored again to his beginning.
For the sword of the one shall
devour the other: but at the last shall he
fall through the sword himself.
He that shall
endure the
peril in that time hath kept himself: they that be
fallen into danger are such as have works, and faith toward the
Almighty.
And this my Son shall
rebuke the wicked inventions of those nations, which for their wicked life are
fallen into the
tempest;
And because he governeth the same, and such things as fall in their seasons: and there I sat three days.
Thy children shall die of hunger, and thou shalt fall through the sword: thy cities shall be broken down, and all thine shall perish with the sword in the field.
Therefore
anoint thou his eyes with the gall, and being
pricked therewith, he shall
rub, and the whiteness shall
fall away, and he shall see thee.
And then shall the sword of mine army, and the multitude of them that serve me, pass through thy sides, and thou shalt fall among their slain, when I return.
And if thou
persuade thyself in thy mind that they shall be taken, let not thy countenance
fall: I have spoken it, and none of my words shall be in vain.
For the which cause our fathers were given to the sword, and for a
spoil, and had a great
fall before our enemies.
She rose where she had
fallen down, and called her
maid, and went down into the house in the which she abode in the sabbath days, and in her feast days,
And now, that my lord be not defeated and
frustrate of his purpose, even death is now
fallen upon them, and their sin hath overtaken them,
wherewith they will
provoke their God to anger
whensoever they shall do that which is not fit to be done:
Then they shall take their armour, and shall go into their camp, and raise up the captains of the army of Assur, and shall run to the tent of Holofernes, but shall not find him: then fear shall
fall upon them, and they shall
flee before your face.
For the mighty one did not
fall by the young men, neither did the sons of the
Titans smite him, nor high giants set upon him: but
Judith the daughter of Merari
weakened him with the beauty of her countenance.
O Lord, give not thy
sceptre unto them that be nothing, and let them not
laugh at our
fall; but turn their
device upon themselves, and make him an example, that hath begun this against us.
For glorious is the fruit of good labours: and the root of wisdom shall never fall away.
Unto you therefore, O kings, do I speak, that ye may learn wisdom, and not fall away.
For she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the
Almighty: therefore can no
defiled thing
fall into her.
She preserved the first formed father of the world, that was created alone, and brought him out of his fall,
Yea, and without these might they have
fallen down with one blast, being
persecuted of
vengeance, and scattered abroad through the breath of thy power: but thou hast ordered all things in measure and number and weight.
For the whole world before thee is as a little grain of the balance,
yea, as a drop of the morning
dew that
falleth down upon the earth.
For he provided for it that it might not fall, knowing that it was unable to help itself; for it is an image, and hath need of help:
For they were
pricked, that they should remember thy words; and were quickly saved, that not
falling into deep
forgetfulness, they might be continually mindful of thy goodness.
For neither might the corner that held them keep them from fear: but noises as of waters
falling down sounded about them, and
sad visions appeared unto them with heavy countenances.
Whether it were a
whistling wind, or a
melodious noise of birds among the spreading branches, or a pleasing
fall of water running violently,
