Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain upon the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is
fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to
provoke the eyes of his glory.
For Jerusalem has
stumbled and Judah has
fallen because they spoke and acted against the LORD,
defying His glorious presence.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Your men will fall by the sword, and your warriors in battle.
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be
pruned, nor
digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
I will make it a wasteland, neither
pruned nor cultivated, and thorns and briers will grow up. I will command the clouds that rain shall not
fall on it.”
And many among them shall
stumble, and
fall, and be broken, and be
snared, and be taken.
Many will
stumble over these; they will
fall and be broken; they will be ensnared and captured.”
The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
The Lord has sent a message against Jacob, and it has fallen upon Israel.
The bricks are
fallen down, but we will build with
hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
“The bricks have fallen, but we will rebuild with finished stone; the sycamores have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.”
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Nothing will remain but to
crouch among the
captives or
fall among the slain.
Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and
Lebanon shall
fall by a mighty one.
He will clear the forest thickets with an
axe, and
Lebanon will
fall before the Mighty One.
Therefore shall all hands be
faint, and every man’s heart shall
melt:
Therefore all hands will
fall limp, and every man’s heart will
melt.
Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
How art thou
fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which
didst weaken the nations!
How you have
fallen from heaven, O day star, son of the
dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of nations.
In their streets they shall
gird themselves with
sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall
howl,
weeping abundantly.
In its streets they wear
sackcloth; on the rooftops and in the public squares they all
wail,
falling down
weeping.
Therefore I will
bewail with the
weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O
Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the
shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is
fallen.
So I
weep with Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I
drench Heshbon and Elealeh with my tears.
Triumphant shouts have
fallen silent over your summer fruit and your harvest.
And, behold, here cometh a
chariot of men, with a couple of
horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is
fallen, is
fallen; and all the
graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
Look, here come the riders,
horsemen in pairs.” And one answered, saying: “
Fallen,
fallen is Babylon! All the images of her gods lie
shattered on the ground!”
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the
nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and
fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
In that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, the
peg driven into a firm place will give way; it will be
sheared off and
fall, and the load upon it will be cut down.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall
fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do
shake.
Whoever flees the sound of
panic will
fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For the windows of heaven are open, and the foundations of the earth are
shaken.
The earth shall
reel to and
fro like a
drunkard, and shall be removed like a
cottage; and the
transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall
fall, and not rise again.
The earth
staggers like a
drunkard and sways like a
shack. Earth’s rebellion weighs it down, and it
falls, never to rise again.
We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any
deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world
fallen.
We were with child; we
writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any life into the world.
But the word of the LORD was unto them
precept upon
precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and
fall backward, and be broken, and
snared, and taken.
Then the word of the LORD to them will become: “Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line; a little here, a little there,” so that they will go
stumbling backward and will be injured, ensnared, and captured.
Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
this iniquity of yours is like a breach about to fail, a
bulge in a high wall, whose
collapse will come suddenly— in an instant!
And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
And from every high mountain and every raised hill, streams of water will flow in the day of great slaughter, when the towers fall.
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall
fall, and he that is
holpen shall
fall down, and they all shall fail together.
But the Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, the helper will
stumble, and the one he helps will
fall; both will perish together.
Then shall the Assyrian
fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall
devour him: but he shall
flee from the sword, and his young men shall be
discomfited.
“Then Assyria will
fall, but not by the sword of man; a sword will
devour them, but not one made by mortals. They will
flee before the sword, and their young men will be put to forced labor.
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a
scroll: and all their host shall
fall down, as the leaf
falleth off from the vine, and as a
falling fig from the fig tree.
All the stars of heaven will be dissolved. The
skies will be rolled up like a
scroll, and all their stars will
fall like
withered leaves from the vine, like foliage from the fig tree.
And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be
soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
And the wild oxen will
fall with them, the young bulls with the strong ones. Their land will be
drenched with blood, and their soil will be
soaked with fat.
Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a
rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to
fall by the sword.’”
Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun
dial of
Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
I will make the sun’s shadow that
falls on the
stairway of
Ahaz go back ten steps.’” So the
sunlight went back the ten steps it had descended.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
The grass
withers and the flowers
fall when the breath of the LORD blows on them; indeed, the people are grass.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
The grass
withers and the flowers
fall, but the word of our God stands
forever.”
Even the youths shall
faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly
fall:
Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself;
yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread;
yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a
graven image, and
falleth down
thereto.
It serves as fuel for man. He takes some of it to warm himself, and he kindles a fire and bakes his bread; he even fashions it into a god and worships it; he makes an
idol and bows down to it.
And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his
graven image: he
falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
From the rest he makes a god, his
graven image. He bows down to it and worships; he prays to it and says, “Save me, for you are my god.”
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire;
yea, also I have
baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have
roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an
abomination? shall I
fall down to the stock of a tree?
And no one considers in his heart, no one has the knowledge or insight to say, “I burned half of it in the fire, and I
baked bread on its coals; I
roasted meat and I
ate. Shall I make something
detestable with the rest of it? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and
merchandise of
Ethiopia and of the
Sabeans, men of
stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall
fall down unto thee, they shall make
supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
This is what the LORD says: “The products of Egypt and the
merchandise of
Cush, along with the
Sabeans, men of
stature, will come over to you and will be yours; they will
trudge behind you; they will come over in chains and bow down to you. They will
confess to you: ‘God is indeed with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.’”
They pour out their bags of gold and
weigh out silver on scales; they
hire a
goldsmith to fashion it into a god, so they can bow down and worship.
Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall
fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put if off: and
desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
But
disaster will come upon you; you will not know how to charm it away. A
calamity will
befall you that you will be unable to ward off.
Devastation will happen to you suddenly and unexpectedly.
Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me:
whosoever shall gather together against thee shall
fall for thy sake.
If
anyone attacks you, it is not from Me;
whoever assails you will
fall before you.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For just as rain and snow
fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing seed to
sow and food to eat,
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth
afar off: for truth is
fallen in the street, and
equity cannot enter.
So justice is turned away, and righteousness stands at a distance. For truth has
stumbled in the public square, and
honesty cannot enter.
The sons also of them that
afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that
despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
The sons of your oppressors will come and bow down to you; all who
reviled you will
fall facedown at your feet and call you the City of the LORD,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Go and
proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou
backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to
fall upon you: for I am
merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Go,
proclaim this message toward the north: ‘Return, O faithless Israel,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will no longer look on you with anger, for I am
merciful,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will not be
angry forever.
For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your
fallow ground, and
sow not among thorns.
For this is what the LORD says to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your
unplowed ground, and do not
sow among the thorns.
Were they
ashamed when they had committed
abomination?
nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they
blush: therefore they shall
fall among them that
fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Are they
ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to
blush. So they will
fall among the
fallen; when I
punish them, they will
collapse,” says the LORD.
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: “I will lay
stumbling blocks before this people; fathers and sons alike will be
staggered; friends and neighbors will perish.”
Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
So you are to tell them this is what the LORD says: “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not return?
Were they
ashamed when they had committed
abomination?
nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they
blush: therefore shall they
fall among them that
fall: in the time of their
visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Are they
ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to
blush. So they will
fall among the
fallen; when I
punish them, they will
collapse, says the LORD.
Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall
fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the
harvestman, and none shall gather them.
Declare that this is what the LORD says: “The corpses of men will
fall like dung upon the open field, like newly cut grain behind the
reaper, with no one to gather it.”
Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble
yourselves, sit down: for your
principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.
Say to the king and to the queen mother: “Take a lowly seat, for your glorious crowns have fallen from your heads.”
Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were
ashamed, they covered their heads.
The ground is
cracked because no rain has
fallen on the land. The farmers are
ashamed; they cover their heads.
Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a
spoiler at
noonday: I have caused him to
fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
I will make their widows more numerous than the sand of the sea. I will bring a destroyer at
noon against the mothers of young men. I will suddenly bring upon them
anguish and dismay.
And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
And in this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them
fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their
carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall
fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will
fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
For I heard the
defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my
halting, saying,
Peradventure he will be
enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our
revenge on him.
For I have heard the
whispering of many: “Terror is on every side! Report him; let us report him!” All my trusted friends watch for my
fall: “Perhaps he will be
deceived so that we may prevail against him and take our
vengeance upon him.”
He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the
pestilence: but he that goeth out, and
falleth to the Chaldeans that
besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and famine and plague, but
whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who
besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a
spoil of war.
Wherefore their way shall be unto them as
slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and
fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“Therefore their path will become
slick; they will be driven away into the darkness and
fall into it. For I will bring
disaster upon them in the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with
fury, a
whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be
drunken, and
spue, and
fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.
“Then you are to tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Drink, get
drunk, and
vomit.
Fall down and never get up again, because of the sword I will send among you.’
Howl, ye
shepherds, and cry; and
wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall
fall like a pleasant vessel.
Wail, you
shepherds, and cry out; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For the days of your slaughter have come; you will
fall and be
shattered like fine pottery.
Behold, the
whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with
fury, a continuing
whirlwind: it shall
fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with
fury, a
whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not
hearkened unto me, in
proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I
proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the
pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: You have not obeyed Me; you have not proclaimed freedom, each man for his brother and for his
neighbor. So now I
proclaim freedom for you, declares the LORD—freedom to
fall by sword, by plague, and by famine! I will make you a
horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
But when he reached the Gate of Benjamin, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, seized him and said, “You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”
Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I
fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he
hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
“That is a lie,” Jeremiah replied. “I am not deserting to the Chaldeans!” But Irijah would not
listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and took him to the officials.
And
Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are
fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they
mock me.
But King
Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have deserted to the Chaldeans, for the Chaldeans may deliver me into their hands to
abuse me.”
For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
For I will surely
rescue you so that you do not
fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in Me, you will escape with your life like a
spoil of war, declares the LORD.’”
And I will take the
remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and
fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach.
And I will take away the
remnant of Judah who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to reside there; they will meet their end. They will all
fall by the sword or be consumed by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or famine; and they will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and reproach.
Let not the swift
flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall
stumble, and
fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
“The swift cannot
flee, and the
warrior cannot escape! In the north by the River Euphrates they
stumble and
fall.
The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath
stumbled against the mighty, and they are
fallen both together.
The nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth, because
warrior stumbles over
warrior and both of them have
fallen together.”
He made many to
fall,
yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our
nativity, from the
oppressing sword.
They continue to
stumble; indeed, they have
fallen over one another. They say, ‘Get up! Let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, away from the sword of the
oppressor.’
O vine of Sibmah, I will
weep for thee with the
weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the
spoiler is
fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy
vintage.
I will
weep for you, O vine of Sibmah, more than I
weep for Jazer. Your tendrils have extended to the sea; they reach even to Jazer. The destroyer has descended on your summer fruit and
grape harvest.
He that fleeth from the fear shall
fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“
Whoever flees the
panic will
fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For I will bring upon Moab the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
At the sound of their
fall the earth will
quake; their cry will resound to the Red Sea.
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
For her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are
fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the
vengeance of the LORD: take
vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.
Raise a war cry against her on every side! She has thrown up her hands in surrender; her towers have
fallen; her walls are
torn down. Since this is the
vengeance of the LORD, take out your
vengeance upon her; as she has done, do the same to her.
Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.
Therefore, her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD.
And the most proud shall
stumble and
fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will
kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall
devour all round about him.
Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.
And they will fall slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and pierced through in her streets.
Babylon is suddenly
fallen and destroyed:
howl for her; take
balm for her pain, if so she may be
healed.
Suddenly Babylon has
fallen and been
shattered.
Wail for her; get her
balm for her pain; perhaps she can be
healed.
In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them
drunken, that they may
rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the LORD.
While they are
flushed with heat, I will serve them a feast, and I will make them
drunk so that they may
revel; then they will
fall asleep forever and never
wake up, declares the LORD.
And I will
punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath
swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him:
yea, the wall of Babylon shall
fall.
I will
punish Bel in Babylon. I will make him
spew out what he
swallowed. The nations will no longer stream to him; even the wall of Babylon will
fall.
Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the
graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall
fall in the midst of her.
Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will
punish the idols of Babylon. Her entire land will suffer shame, and all her slain will lie
fallen within her.
As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
“Babylon must fall on account of the slain of Israel, just as the slain of all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will
fall asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are
wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to
fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
My transgressions are bound into a yoke,
knit together by His hand; they are
draped over my neck, and the Lord has broken my strength. He has delivered me into the hands of those I cannot
withstand.
The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are
fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not
pitied.
Both young and old lie together in the dust of the streets. My young men and maidens have
fallen by the sword. You have slain them in the day of Your anger; You have slaughtered them without
compassion.
The crown is
fallen from our head:
woe unto us, that we have
sinned!
The crown has
fallen from our head.
Woe to us, for we have
sinned!
A third part of thee shall die with the
pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall
fall by the sword round about thee and I will
scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
A third of your people will die by plague or be consumed by famine within you, a third will
fall by the sword outside your walls, and a third I will
scatter to every wind and
unleash a sword behind them.
And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am the LORD.
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say,
Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall
fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the
pestilence.
This is what the Lord GOD says:
Clap your hands,
stomp your feet, and cry out “
Alas!” because of all the wicked abominations of the house of Israel, who will
fall by sword and famine and plague.
He that is far off shall die of the
pestilence; and he that is near shall
fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I
accomplish my
fury upon them.
He who is far off will die by the plague, he who is near will
fall by the sword, and he who remains will die by famine. So I will
vent My
fury upon them.
Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
You will fall by the sword, and I will judge you even to the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Say unto them which
daub it with untempered
morter, that it shall
fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall
fall; and a
stormy wind shall
rend it.
Surely when the wall has
fallen, you will not be asked, ‘Where is the
whitewash with which you covered it?’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even
rend it with a
stormy wind in my
fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my
fury to
consume it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: In My wrath I will release a
windstorm, and in My anger torrents of rain and
hail will
fall with destructive
fury.
So will I break down the wall that ye have
daubed with untempered
morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall
fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
tear down the wall you
whitewashed and level it to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed. The city will
fall, and you will be destroyed within it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.
All his choice troops will
fall by the sword, and those who
survive will be scattered to every wind. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken.’
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not
cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of
indignation.
“Son of man, say to her, ‘In the day of
indignation, you are a land that has not been
cleansed, upon which no rain has
fallen.’
And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal
furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall
fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the fire.
And I will set My
jealous rage against you, and they will deal with you in
fury. They will cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors will
fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by fire.
