And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.
And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount.
So you are to set up the tabernacle according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.
And thou shalt make ouches of gold;
And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
Moreover, I have selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan, as his assistant. I have also given skill to all the
craftsmen, that they may
fashion all that I have commanded you:
And he received them at their hand, and
fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a
molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
He took the gold from their hands, and with an engraving tool he
fashioned it into a
molten calf. And they said, “These, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”
Three
bowls made after the
fashion of almonds in one branch, a
knop and a flower; and three
bowls made like almonds in another branch, a
knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the
candlestick.
There were three cups shaped like
almond blossoms on the first branch, each with buds and petals, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches that extended from the lampstand.
And this work of the
candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the
candlestick.
This is how the lampstand was constructed: it was made of hammered gold from its base to its blossoms, fashioned according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses.
And in the
eleventh year, in the month
Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the
fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
In his
eleventh year and eighth month, the month of
Bul, the temple was finished in every detail and according to every
specification. So he built the temple in seven years.
And it was an hand breadth thick, and the
brim thereof was wrought like the
brim of a cup, with flowers of
lilies: it contained two thousand baths.
And king
Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king
Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the
fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the
workmanship thereof.
Then King
Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria. On seeing the altar in Damascus, King
Ahaz sent Uriah the priest a model of the altar and complete plans for its construction.
And the thickness of it was an
handbreadth, and the
brim of it like the work of the
brim of a cup, with flowers of
lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.
Thine hands have made me and
fashioned me together round about; yet thou
dost destroy me.
Your hands shaped me and altogether formed me. Would You now turn and destroy me?
Did not he that made me in the
womb make him? and did not one
fashion us in the
womb?
Did not He who made me in the
womb also make them? Did not the same One form us in the
womb?
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
He shapes the hearts of each; He considers all their works.
Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
Your hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding to learn Your commandments.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
They will not look to the altars they have fashioned with their hands or to the Asherahs and incense altars they have made with their fingers.
Ye made also a
ditch between the two walls for the water of the old
pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that
fashioned it long ago.
You built a
reservoir between the walls for the waters of the ancient
pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or consider Him who
planned it long ago.
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with
hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under
falsehood have we
hid ourselves:
For you said, “We have made a covenant with death; we have
fashioned an agreement with
Sheol. When the
overwhelming scourge passes through it will not touch us, because we have made lies our refuge and
falsehood our hiding place.”
Who hath formed a god, or
molten a
graven image that is profitable for nothing?
Who
fashions a god or casts an
idol which profits him nothing?
The smith with the
tongs both worketh in the coals, and
fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms:
yea, he is
hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is
faint.
The
blacksmith takes a tool and labors over the coals; he
fashions an
idol with hammers and forges it with his strong arms. Yet he grows
hungry and loses his strength; he fails to drink water and grows
faint.
The
carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a
stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He
fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a
shrine.
Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself;
yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread;
yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a
graven image, and falleth down
thereto.
It serves as fuel for man. He takes some of it to warm himself, and he kindles a fire and bakes his bread; he even
fashions it into a god and worships it; he makes an
idol and bows down to it.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the
potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that
fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does the clay ask the
potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’?
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens—He is God; He formed the earth and
fashioned it; He established it; He did not
create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited: “I am the LORD, and there is no other.
They pour out their bags of gold and
weigh out silver on scales; they
hire a
goldsmith to
fashion it into a god, so they can bow down and worship.
Silver spread into plates is brought from
Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the
workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of
cunning men.
Hammered silver is brought from
Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz— the work of a
craftsman from the hands of a
goldsmith. Their clothes are blue and purple, all
fashioned by skilled workers.
Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
“Go and tell Hananiah that this is what the LORD says: ‘You have broken a yoke of wood, but in its place you have fashioned a yoke of iron.’
As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their
detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.
His beautiful ornaments they transformed into pride and used them to
fashion their
vile images and
detestable idols. Therefore I will make these into something unclean for them.
I have caused thee to multiply as the
bud of the field, and thou hast increased and
waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are
fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou
wast naked and bare.
I made you
thrive like a plant of the field. You grew up and
matured and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have
transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Cast away from
yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and
fashion for
yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel?
And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.
with a
passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that were on the north. They had the same length and width, with similar exits and dimensions.
And if they be
ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house, and the
fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
and if they are
ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them out.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all;
insomuch that they were all
amazed, and
glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this
fashion.
And immediately the man got up,
picked up his mat, and walked out in front of them all. As a result, they were all
astounded and
glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
And as he prayed, the
fashion of his countenance was altered, and his
raiment was white and
glistering.
And as He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became
radiantly white.
Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
Our fathers had the tabernacle of the Testimony with them in the wilderness. It was constructed exactly as God had directed Moses, according to the pattern he had seen.
And they that use this world, as not
abusing it: for the
fashion of this world passeth away.
and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
And being found in
fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became
obedient to death— even death on a cross.
Who shall change our
vile body, that it may be
fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to
subdue all things unto himself.
who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will
transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the
fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man
fade away in his ways.
For the sun rises with
scorching heat and
withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will
fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
As
obedient children, not
fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
As
obedient children, do not
conform to the passions of your former ignorance.
Did not the souls also of the righteous ask question of these things in their chambers, saying, How long shall I hope on this fashion? when cometh the fruit of the floor of our reward?
And she shall answer thee, They that be born in the strength of youth are of one
fashion, and they that are born in the time of age, when the
womb faileth, are otherwise.
For when the body is
fashioned now in the mother’s
womb, and thou givest it members, thy creature is preserved in fire and water, and nine months
doth thy
workmanship endure thy creature which is created in her.
That the thing which is
fashioned may be
nourished for a time, till thou disposest it to thy mercy.
If therefore thou shalt destroy him which with so great labour was fashioned, it is an easy thing to be ordained by thy commandment, that the thing which was made might be preserved.
He is
grievous unto us even to behold: for his life is not like other men’s, his ways are of another
fashion.
And in my mother’s
womb was
fashioned to be flesh in the time of ten months, being compacted in blood, of the seed of man, and the pleasure that came with sleep.
And taking the very refuse among those which served to no use, being a
crooked piece of wood, and full of knots, hath carved it
diligently, when he had nothing else to do, and formed it by the skill of his understanding, and
fashioned it to the image of a man;
For he,
peradventure willing to please one in authority, forced all his skill to make the resemblance of the best
fashion.
For the
potter, tempering soft earth,
fashioneth every vessel with much labour for our service:
yea, of the same clay he maketh both the vessels that serve for clean uses, and likewise also all such as serve to the contrary: but what is the use of either sort, the
potter himself is the judge.
For man made them, and he that borrowed his own spirit fashioned them: but no man can make a god like unto himself.
Therefore even then was it altered into all
fashions, and was
obedient to thy grace, that nourisheth all things, according to the desire of them that had need:
For the whole creature in his proper kind was
fashioned again
anew, serving the peculiar commandments that were given unto them, that thy children might be kept without
hurt:
As the clay is in the
potter’s hand, to
fashion it at his pleasure: so man is in the hand of him that made him, to render to them as liketh him best.
He
fashioneth the clay with his arm, and boweth down his strength before his feet; he applieth himself to lead it over; and he is
diligent to make clean the furnace:
Beside this, he promised to
assign an hundred and fifty more, if he might have licence to set him up a place for exercise, and for the training up of youth in the
fashions of the heathen, and to write them of Jerusalem by the name of Antiochians.
Which when the king had granted, and he had
gotten into his hand the rule he
forthwith brought his own nation to
Greekish fashion.
Now such was the height of Greek
fashions, and increase of
heathenish manners, through the exceeding
profaneness of
Jason, that ungodly
wretch, and no high priest;
Moreover there went out a decree to the neighbour cities of the heathen, by the suggestion of Ptolemee, against the Jews, that they should observe the same fashions, and be partakers of their sacrifices:
