And the
Nazarite shall
shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the
fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.
Then at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the
Nazirite is to
shave his consecrated head, take the hair, and put it on the

And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
On the day that the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it and appeared like fire above the tabernacle from evening until morning.
So it was
alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of
fire by night.
It remained that way continually; the cloud would cover the tabernacle by day, and at night it would appear like fire.
And when the people
complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was
kindled; and the
fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the
uttermost parts of the camp.
Soon the people began to
complain about their
hardship in the hearing of the LORD, and when He heard them, His anger was
kindled, and
fire from the LORD
blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.
And the people
cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the
fire was
quenched.
And the people
cried out to Moses, and he prayed to the LORD, and the
fire died down.

So that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the LORD had burned among them.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of
fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of
fire by night.
And will make an offering by
fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a
vow, or in a
freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the
herd, or of the flock:
and you present an offering made by
fire to the LORD from the
herd or flock to produce a pleasing
aroma to the LORD—either a burnt offering or a sacrifice, for a special
vow or
freewill offering or appointed feast—
And thou shalt bring for a drink offering half an
hin of wine, for an offering made by
fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
Also present half a
hin of wine as a drink offering. It is an offering made by
fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.

sojourn with you, or
whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by
fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he shall do.

fire as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, he is to do exactly as you do.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be
forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by
fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:
The priest is to make
atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be
forgiven; for the sin was
unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by
fire and a sin offering, presented before the LORD for their
unintentional sin.
And put
fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to
morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD
doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
and
tomorrow you are to place
fire and incense in them in the presence of the LORD. Then the man the LORD chooses will be the one who is holy. It is you sons of Levi who have taken too much upon
yourselves!”
And they took every man his
censer, and put
fire in them, and laid incense
thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
So each man took his
censer, put
fire and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
And fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
Speak unto
Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and
scatter thou the
fire yonder; for they are
hallowed.
“Tell
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to remove the censers from the flames and to
scatter the coals far away, because the censers are holy.
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a
censer, and put
fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an
atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.
Moses said to Aaron, “Take your
censer, place
fire from the altar in it, and add incense. Go quickly to the congregation and make
atonement for them, because wrath has come out from the LORD; the plague has begun.”
This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the
fire: every
oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every
trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
A portion of the most holy offerings reserved from the fire will be yours. From all the offerings they render to Me as most holy offerings, whether grain offerings or sin offerings or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.
But the
firstling of a cow, or the
firstling of a sheep, or the
firstling of a goat, thou shalt not
redeem; they are holy: thou shalt
sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by
fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
But you must not
redeem the
firstborn of an ox, a sheep, or a goat; they are holy. You are to
sprinkle their blood on the altar and burn their fat as an offering made by
fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
For there is a
fire gone out of
Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of
Arnon.
For a
fire went out from
Heshbon, a
blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar of Moab, the rulers of
Arnon’s heights.
And the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up together with
Korah, when that company died, what time the
fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
And the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them along with
Korah, whose followers died when the
fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a
warning sign.
And
Nadab and
Abihu died, when they offered strange
fire before the LORD.
but
Nadab and
Abihu died when they offered unauthorized
fire before the LORD.
Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.
“Command the Israelites and say to them: See that you present to Me at its appointed time the food for My offerings by
fire, as a pleasing
aroma to Me.
And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.
And tell them that this is the offering made by
fire you are to present to the LORD as a regular burnt offering each day: two
unblemished year-old male lambs.
It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount
Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by
fire unto the LORD.
This is a regular burnt offering established at Mount
Sinai as a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by
fire to the LORD.
And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
And offer the second lamb at
twilight, with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning. It is an offering made by
fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
and a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering with each lamb. This is a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by
fire to the LORD.
But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by
fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without
blemish:
Present to the LORD an offering made by
fire, a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished.
After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
Offer the same food each day for seven days as an offering made by
fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD. It is to be offered with its drink offering and the regular burnt offering.
Beside the burnt offering of the month, and his meat offering, and the daily burnt offering, and his meat offering, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner, for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
These are in addition to the monthly and daily burnt offerings with their prescribed grain offerings and drink offerings. They are a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by
fire to the LORD.
And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by
fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, you are to present an offering made by
fire, a burnt offering of thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by
fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: one
bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, you are to present an offering made by
fire, a burnt offering of one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
Then they burned all the cities where the Midianites had lived, as well as all their encampments,
Every thing that may
abide the
fire, ye shall make it go through the
fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be
purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the
fire ye shall make go through the water.
everything that can
withstand the
fire—must be put through the
fire, and it will be clean. But it must still be
purified with the water of
purification. And everything that cannot
withstand the
fire must pass through the water.
Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in
fire by night, to
shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
You came near and stood at the base of the mountain, a mountain
blazing with
fire to the heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.
And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the
fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no
similitude; only ye heard a voice.
And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; there was only a voice.
Take ye therefore good
heed unto
yourselves; for ye saw no manner of
similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in
Horeb out of the midst of the
fire:
So since you saw no form of any kind on the day the LORD spoke to you out of the
fire at
Horeb, be careful
Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
Has a people ever heard the voice of God speaking out of the fire, as you have, and lived?
Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might
instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great
fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the
fire.
He let you hear His voice from heaven to discipline you, and on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the fire.
The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
The LORD spoke with you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.
(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to
shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the
fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. And He said:
These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
The LORD spoke these commandments in a loud voice to your whole assembly out of the fire, the cloud, and the deep darkness on the mountain; He added nothing more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
And when you heard the voice out of the darkness while the mountain was
blazing with
fire, all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me,
And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the
fire: we have seen this day that God
doth talk with man, and he liveth.
and you said, “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the
fire.
Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.
Now therefore why should we die? for this great
fire will
consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
But now, why should we die? For this great
fire will
consume us, and we will die, if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer.
For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and survived?
But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their
graven images with
fire.
Instead, this is what you are to do to them:
tear down their altars,
smash their sacred pillars, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their idols in the
fire.
The
graven images of their gods shall ye burn with
fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be
snared therein: for it is an
abomination to the LORD thy God.
You must burn up the images of their gods; do not
covet the silver and gold that is on them or take it for
yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it; for it is
detestable to the LORD your God.
Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a
consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
But understand that
today the LORD your God goes across
ahead of you as a
consuming fire; He will destroy them and
subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and
annihilate them swiftly, as the LORD has promised you.
And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
Then the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, inscribed by the finger of God with the exact words that the LORD spoke to you out of the fire on the mountain on the day of the assembly.
So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
So I went back down the mountain while it was
blazing with
fire, with the two tablets of the covenant in my hands.
And I took your sin, the
calf which ye had made, and burnt it with
fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the
brook that descended out of the mount.
And I took that sinful thing, the
calf you had made, and burned it in the
fire. Then I
crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust, and I cast it into the stream that came down from the mountain.
And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
And the LORD wrote on the tablets what had been written previously, the Ten Commandments that He had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly. The LORD gave them to me,
And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with
fire; and ye shall
hew down the
graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
Tear down their altars,
smash their sacred pillars, burn up their Asherah poles, cut down the idols of their gods, and
wipe out their names from every place.
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every
abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the
fire to their gods.
You must not worship the LORD your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every
abomination which the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the
fire as sacrifices to their gods.
And thou shalt gather all the
spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with
fire the city, and all the
spoil thereof every
whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an
heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
And you are to gather all its
plunder in the middle of the public square, and completely burn the city and all its
plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. The city must remain a
mound of ruins
forever, never to be rebuilt.
The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
The
Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the offerings made by
fire to the LORD; that is their inheritance.
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the
fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the
fire, practices
divination or
conjury, interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in
Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great
fire any more, that I die not.
This is what you asked of the LORD your God at
Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great
fire anymore, so that we will not die!”
For a
fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest
hell, and shall
consume the earth with her increase, and set on
fire the foundations of the mountains.
For a
fire has been
kindled by My anger, and it burns to the depths of
Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.
And he said, The LORD came from
Sinai, and rose up from
Seir unto them; he
shined forth from mount
Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a
fiery law for them.
He said: “The LORD came from
Sinai and
dawned upon us from
Seir; He
shone forth from Mount
Paran and came with myriads of holy ones, with flaming
fire at His right hand.
And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
Then the Israelites burned up the city and everything in it. However, they put the silver and gold and articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD’s house.
And it shall be, that he that is taken with the
accursed thing shall be burnt with
fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath
transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
The one who is caught with the things devoted to destruction must be burned, along with all that belongs to him, because he has
transgressed the covenant of the LORD and committed an
outrage in Israel.’”
And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
“Why have you brought this trouble upon us?” said Joshua. “
Today the LORD will bring trouble upon you!” And all Israel stoned him to death. Then they stoned the others and burned their bodies.
And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.
And when you have taken the city, set it on fire. Do as the LORD has commanded! See, I have given you orders.”
And the
ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on
fire.
and as soon as he did so, the men in
ambush rose quickly from their position. They
rushed forward, entered the city, captured it, and immediately set it on
fire.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to
morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt
hough their horses, and burn their
chariots with
fire.
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for by this time
tomorrow I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You are to
hamstring their horses and burn up their
chariots.”
And Joshua did unto them as the LORD
bade him: he
houghed their horses, and burnt their
chariots with
fire.
Joshua treated them as the LORD had told him; he
hamstrung their horses and burned up their
chariots.
And they
smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to
breathe: and he burnt Hazor with
fire.
The Israelites put
everyone in Hazor to the sword,
devoting them to destruction. Nothing that breathed remained, and Joshua burned down Hazor itself.
Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses had given no inheritance. The offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and
smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on
fire.
Then the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.
Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the
unleavened cakes; and there rose up
fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the
unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
Then the angel of the LORD extended the
tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the
unleavened bread. And
fire flared from the rock and consumed the meat and the
unleavened bread. Then the angel of the LORD
vanished from his sight.
And the
bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye
anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let
fire come out of the
bramble, and
devour the cedars of
Lebanon.
But the thornbush replied, ‘If you really are
anointing me as king over you, come and find refuge in my shade. But if not, may
fire come out of the thornbush and
consume the cedars of
Lebanon.’
And all the people likewise cut down every man his
bough, and followed
Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on
fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of
Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
So each man also cut his own branch and followed
Abimelech. Then they piled the branches against the inner chamber and set it on
fire above them, killing
everyone in the tower of
Shechem, about a thousand men and women.
And
Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with
fire.
When
Abimelech came to attack the tower, he approached its entrance to set it on
fire.
And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto
Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of
Ammon, and
didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with
fire.
Then the men of Ephraim assembled and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to
Jephthah, “Why have you crossed over to fight the
Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down with you inside!”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto
Samson’s wife,
Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the
riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with
fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?
So on the fourth day they said to
Samson’s wife, “
Entice your husband to explain the
riddle to us, or we will burn you and your father’s household to death. Did you
invite us here to
rob us?”
And
Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took
firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a
firebrand in the midst between two tails.
Then
Samson went out and caught three hundred foxes. And he took torches, turned the foxes tail-to-tail, and fastened a
torch between each pair of tails.
And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
Then he
lit the torches and released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines, burning up the piles of grain and the standing grain, as well as the vineyards and olive groves.
Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered,
Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with
fire.
“Who did this?” the Philistines demanded. “It was
Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite,” they were told. “For his wife was given to his companion.” So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.
And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines
shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came
mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with
fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
When
Samson arrived in Lehi, the Philistines came out
shouting against him. And the Spirit of the LORD came
mightily upon him. The ropes on his arms became like burnt flax, and the bonds broke loose from his hands.
Now there were men lying in wait,
abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee,
Samson. And he
brake the withs, as a thread of
tow is broken when it toucheth the
fire. So his strength was not known.
While the men were hidden in her room, she called out, “
Samson, the Philistines are here!” But he
snapped the bowstrings like a
strand of yarn
seared by a flame. So the source of his strength remained unknown.
And they took the things which
Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were at quiet and secure: and they
smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with
fire.
After they had taken
Micah’s idols and his priest, they went to Laish, to a
tranquil and
unsuspecting people, and they struck them with their swords and burned down the city.
And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and
smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on
fire all the cities that they came to.
And the men of Israel turned back against the other Benjamites and put to the sword all the cities, including the animals and everything else they found. And they burned down all the cities in their path.
And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an
ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by
fire of the children of Israel?
And out of all the tribes of Israel I selected your father to be My priest, to offer sacrifices on My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an
ephod in My presence. I also gave to the house of your father all the offerings of the Israelites made by
fire.
And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to
Ziklag on the third day, that the
Amalekites had invaded the south, and
Ziklag, and
smitten Ziklag, and burned it with
fire;
So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with
fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken
captives.
