And he shall offer the ram
for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, with the
basket of
unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering.
He shall also offer the ram as a peace offering to the LORD, along with the
basket of
unleavened bread. And the priest is to offer the accompanying grain offering and drink offering.
And the priest shall wave them
for a wave offering before the LORD: this is holy
for the priest, with the wave breast and
heave shoulder: and after that the
Nazarite may drink wine.
The priest shall then wave them as a wave offering before the LORD. This is a holy portion
for the priest, in addition to the breast of the wave offering and the
thigh that was presented. After that, the
Nazirite may drink wine.
This is the law of the
Nazarite who hath
vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD
for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the
vow which he
vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
This is the law of the
Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD
for his separation, in addition to whatever else he can afford; he must
fulfill whatever
vow he makes, according to the law of his separation.”

But unto the sons of
Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.

for dedicating of the altar in the day that it was
anointed, even the princes offered their offering before the altar.

And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day,
for the
dedicating of the altar.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Each day one leader is to present his offering
for the
dedication of the altar.”

This was the
dedication of the altar, in the day when it was
anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver
bowls, twelve spoons of gold:
So these were the offerings from the leaders of Israel
for the
dedication of the altar when it was
anointed: twelve silver platters, twelve silver
bowls, and twelve gold dishes.
All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat offering: and the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve.
All the
livestock for the burnt offering totaled twelve bulls, twelve rams, and twelve male lambs a year old—together with their grain offerings—and twelve male goats
for the sin offering.
And all the oxen
for the sacrifice of the peace offerings were twenty and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he goats sixty, the lambs of the first year sixty. This was the
dedication of the altar, after that it was
anointed.

bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young
bullock shalt thou take
for a sin offering.

And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD
for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may
execute the service of the LORD.
Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one
for a sin offering, and the other
for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an
atonement for the Levites.
And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and offer to the LORD one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, to make
atonement for the Levites.
And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
You are to have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons and then present them before the LORD as a wave offering.
And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt
cleanse them, and offer them
for an offering.
After you have
cleansed them and presented them as a wave offering, they may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every
womb, even instead of the
firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
For the Levites have been wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them
for Myself in place of all who come first from the
womb, the
firstborn of all the sons of Israel.
For all the
firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I
smote every
firstborn in the land of Egypt I
sanctified them
for myself.
For every
firstborn male in Israel is Mine, both man and beast. I set them apart
for Myself on the day I struck down all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt.
And I have taken the Levites
for all the
firstborn of the children of Israel.
But I have taken the Levites in place of all the
firstborn among the sons of Israel.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an
atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come
nigh unto the sanctuary.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service
for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting and to make
atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
And the Levites were
purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an
atonement for them to
cleanse them.
The Levites
purified themselves and washed their clothes, and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made
atonement for them to
cleanse them.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and
forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger shall
sojourn among you, and will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one
ordinance, both
for the stranger, and
for him that was born in the land.
If a
foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the
foreigner and the native of the land.’”
And when the cloud
tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.
Even when the cloud
lingered over the tabernacle
for many days, the Israelites kept the LORD’s charge and did not set out.
And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
Sometimes the cloud remained over the tabernacle for only a few days, and they would camp at the LORD’s command and set out at the LORD’s command.
Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud
tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining
thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
Whether the cloud
lingered for two days, a month, or longer, the Israelites camped and did not set out as long as the cloud remained over the tabernacle; but when it was lifted, they would set out.
Make thee two
trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them
for the calling of the assembly, and
for the journeying of the camps.
“Make two
trumpets of hammered silver to be used
for calling the congregation and
for having the camps set out.
When ye blow an
alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go
forward.
When you sound short blasts, the camps that lie on the east side are to set out.
When ye blow an
alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an
alarm for their journeys.
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the
trumpets; and they shall be to you
for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the
trumpets. This shall be a permanent statute
for you and the generations to come.
Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you
for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder
for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and the Merarites set out, transporting it.
And the standard of the camp of
Reuben set
forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Then the divisions of the camp of
Reuben set out under their standard, with Elizur son of Shedeur in command.
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.
Then the Kohathites set out, transporting the holy objects; the tabernacle was to be set up before their arrival.
And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
Next, the divisions of the camp of Ephraim set out under their standard, with Elishama son of Ammihud in command.
And the standard of the camp of the children of
Dan set
forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Finally, the divisions of the camp of
Dan set out under their standard, serving as the rear guard
for all units, with Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai in command.
Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
This was the order of march
for the
Israelite divisions as they set out.
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
Then Moses said to Hobab, the son of Moses’ father-in-law Reuel the Midianite, “We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said: ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel.”
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
So they set out on a three-day journey from the mountain of the LORD, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD traveling
ahead of them
for those three days to seek a resting place
for them.
And it came to pass, when the ark set
forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that
hate thee
flee before thee.
Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say, “Rise up, O LORD! May Your enemies be scattered; may those who
hate You
flee before You.”
And the
mixt multitude that was among them fell a
lusting: and the children of Israel also
wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
Meanwhile, the
rabble among them had a strong
craving for other food, and again the Israelites
wept and said, “Who will feed us meat?
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people?
for they
weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
Where can I get meat for all these people? For they keep crying out to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
I cannot carry all these people by myself; it is too
burdensome for me.
And say thou unto the people,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow, and ye shall eat flesh:
for ye have
wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
And say to the people:
Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you will eat meat, because you have
cried out in the hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who will feed us meat?
For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
You will eat it not for one or two days, nor for five or ten or twenty days,
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be
loathsome unto you: because that ye have
despised the LORD which is among you, and have
wept before him, saying, Why came we
forth out of Egypt?
but
for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and makes you
nauseous—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have
cried out before Him, saying, ‘Why did we ever leave Egypt?’”
And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand
footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’
Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
If all our flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”
And Joshua the son of
Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses,
forbid them.
Joshua son of
Nun, the
attendant to Moses since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”
And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
But Moses replied, “Are you
jealous on my account? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would place His Spirit on them!”
And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
Now a wind sent by the LORD came up, drove in
quail from the sea, and brought them near the camp, about two cubits above the surface of the ground,
for a day’s journey in every direction around the camp.
And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
All that day and night, and all the next day, the people stayed up gathering the
quail. No one gathered less than ten homers, and they spread them out all around the camp.
