Can
anyone teach knowledge to
God, since He judges those on high?
Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
“Can a man be of use to God? Can even a wise man benefit Him?
Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
Is not God as high as the heavens? Look at the highest stars, how lofty they are!
And thou sayest, How
doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
Yet you say: ‘What does God know? Does He judge through thick darkness?
Which said unto
God, Depart from us: and what can the
Almighty do for them?
They said to
God, ‘Depart from us. What can the
Almighty do to us?’
For then shalt thou have thy delight in the
Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto
God.
Surely then you will delight in the
Almighty and lift up your face to
God.
For
God maketh my heart soft, and the
Almighty troubleth me:
Men
groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet
God layeth not folly to them.
From the city, men
groan, and the souls of the wounded cry out, yet
God charges no one with
wrongdoing.
He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
Yet by His power, God drags away the mighty; though rising up, they have no assurance of life.

“Dominion and
awe belong to

How then can a man be just before God? How can one born of woman be pure?
Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
As
God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the
Almighty, who hath
vexed my soul;
“As surely as
God lives, who has deprived me of justice— the
Almighty, who has embittered my soul—
All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
as long as my breath is still within me and the breath of God remains in my nostrils,
I will never say that you are right; I will maintain my
integrity until I die.
For what is the hope of the
hypocrite, though he hath gained, when
God taketh away his soul?
For what is the hope of the godless when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?
Will he delight himself in the
Almighty? will he always call upon
God?
Will he delight in the
Almighty? Will he call upon
God at all times?

God, and the
heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the
Almighty.

spare: he would
fain flee out of his hand.

Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
“How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me,
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
when I was in my prime, when the friendship of God rested on my tent,

afflicted me, they have also let loose the
bridle before me.
Because
God has unstrung my bow and
afflicted me, they have cast off restraint in my presence.

God is there from above? and what inheritance of the
Almighty from on high?

what will I do when God rises to judge? How will I answer when called to account?
For destruction from
God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not
endure.
This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
this would also be an iniquity to be judged, for I would have denied God on high.
Then was
kindled the wrath of
Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath
kindled, because he justified himself rather than
God.
This
kindled the anger of
Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram. He burned with anger against Job for
justifying himself rather than
God,

So do not claim, ‘We have found wisdom; let
God, not man,
refute him.’

God hath made me, and the breath of the
Almighty hath given me life.

God oftentimes with man,
Behold, all these things God does to a man, two or even three times,

For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight in God.’
Therefore
hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from
God, that he should do wickedness; and from the
Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
Therefore
listen to me, O men of understanding. Far be it from
God to do wrong, and from the
Almighty to act unjustly.
Indeed, it is true that
God does not act wickedly, and the
Almighty does not
pervert justice.

For God need not examine a man further or have him approach for judgment.

endured my punishment; I will
offend no more.
Should it be according to thy mind? he will
recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
Should
God repay you on your own terms when you have
disavowed His? You must choose, not I; so tell me what you know.
For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
For he adds rebellion to his sin; he
claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against
God.”

God does not
listen to empty pleas, and the
Almighty does not take note of it.

shew thee that I have yet to speak on
God’s behalf.

affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

watery expanses are
frozen.

wondrous works of
God.

shine?

God dispatches the clouds or makes the
lightning flash?

splendor;
awesome majesty surrounds Him.

sang together, and all the sons of
God shouted for joy?
while the morning stars
sang together and all the sons of
God shouted for joy?

raven his food? when his young ones cry unto
God, they
wander for lack of meat.

raven when its young cry out to
God as they
wander about for lack of food?

God? or canst thou
thunder with a voice like him?

God’s? Can you
thunder with a voice like His?

He is the foremost of God’s works; only his Maker can draw the sword against him.
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in
God.
Selah.
Many say of me, “
God will not deliver him.”
Selah Arise, O LORD; save me, O my
God: for thou hast
smitten all mine enemies upon the
cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved my distress; show me grace and hear my prayer.
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my
God: for unto thee will I pray.
Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.
O Lord my
God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that
persecute me, and deliver me:
O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers,
O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
O LORD my God, if I have done this, if injustice is on my hands,
Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up
thyself because of the
rage of mine enemies: and
awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against the
fury of my enemies.
Awake, my
God, and
ordain judgment.

God trieth the hearts and
reins.
Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds.
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
God judgeth the righteous, and
God is
angry with the wicked every day.
God is a righteous judge and a
God who feels
indignation each day.
If he turn not, he will
whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
The wicked shall be turned into
hell, and all the nations that
forget God.
The wicked will return to
Sheol— all the nations who
forget God.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”
Arise, O LORD; O
God, lift up thine hand:
forget not the humble.
Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O
God! Do not
forget the helpless.
Wherefore
doth the wicked
contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou
wilt not require it.
Why has the wicked man
renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
Help, O LORD, for the
godly are no more; the faithful have
vanished from among men.
Consider and hear me, O LORD my
God:
lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Consider me and
respond, O LORD my
God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death,
The
fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God. They are corrupt, they have done
abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The
fool says in his heart, “There is no
God.” They are corrupt; their acts are
vile. There is no one who does good.
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
There they are,
overwhelmed with
dread, for
God is in the company of the righteous.

Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another
god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other
gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips.
I have called upon thee, for thou
wilt hear me, O
God:
incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
I call on You, O
God, for You will answer me.
Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my
God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my
buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My
God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and
cried unto my
God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
In my distress I called upon the LORD; I
cried to my
God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for His help reached His ears.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.
