And
Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
That thou
wilt do us no
hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.
that you will not
harm us, just as we have not
harmed you but have done only good to you, sending you on your way in peace. And now you are blessed by the LORD.”
And your father hath
deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to
hurt me.
And although he has
cheated me and changed my wages ten times, God has not allowed him to
harm me.
It is in the power of my hand to do you
hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me
yesternight, saying, Take thou
heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.
I have power to do you great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’
This
heap be witness, and this
pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this
heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this
heap and this
pillar unto me, for
harm.
This
mound is a witness, and this
pillar is a witness, that I will not go past this
mound to
harm you, and you will not go past this
mound and
pillar to
harm me.
But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest
peradventure mischief
befall him.
But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, “I am afraid that
harm might
befall him.”
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief
befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
But Jacob replied, “My son will not go down there with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If any
harm comes to him on your journey, you will bring my gray hair down to
Sheol in sorrow.”
And if ye take this also from me, and mischief
befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
Now if you also take this one from me and
harm comes to him, you will bring my gray hair down to
Sheol in sorrow.’
The Angel which redeemed me from all evil,
bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
the angel who has redeemed me from all
harm— may He
bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow into a multitude upon the earth.”
Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from doing
harm to Your people.
And he shall make
amends for the
harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part
thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an
atonement for him with the ram of the
trespass offering, and it shall be
forgiven him.
Regarding any holy thing he has
harmed, he must make
restitution by adding a fifth of its value to it and giving it to the priest, who will make
atonement on his behalf with the ram as a guilt offering, and he will be
forgiven.
Then the priest shall look: and, behold, if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh be
darkish white; it is a
freckled spot that groweth in the skin; he is clean.
the priest shall examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a
harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; the person is clean.
And he shall look on the plague on the seventh day: if the plague be spread in the garment, either in the
warp, or in the
woof, or in a skin, or in any work that is made of skin; the plague is a
fretting leprosy; it is unclean.
On the seventh day the priest shall reexamine it, and if the
mildew has spread in the
fabric,
weave,
knit, or leather, then regardless of how it is used, it is a
harmful mildew; the article is unclean.
He shall therefore burn that garment, whether
warp or
woof, in woollen or in linen, or any thing of skin, wherein the plague is: for it is a
fretting leprosy; it shall be burnt in the fire.
Or with any stone,
wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his
harm:
or without looking drops a heavy stone that kills him, but he was not an enemy and did not intend to harm him,
And this is the case of the
slayer, which shall
flee thither, that he may live:
Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he
hated not in time past;
Now this is the situation regarding the
manslayer who flees to one of these cities to save his life, having killed his
neighbor accidentally, without intending to
harm him:
Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any
harm.
And
Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more
blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
Samson said to them, “This time I will be
blameless in doing
harm to the Philistines.”
And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men’s words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy
hurt?
and said to Saul, “Why do you
listen to the words of men who say, ‘Look, David intends to
harm you’?
Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath
withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from
avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
Now, my lord, as surely as the LORD lives and you
yourself live, the LORD has held you back from coming to
bloodshed and
avenging yourself with your own hand. May your enemies and those who seek
harm for my lord be like Nabal.
For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from
hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
Otherwise, as surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has restrained me from
harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, then surely no male belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by morning light.”
Then said Saul, I have
sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee
harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the
fool, and have
erred exceedingly.
Then Saul replied, “I have
sinned. Come back, David my son. I will never
harm you again, because
today you considered my life precious. I have played the
fool and have committed a grave error!”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not
hearken unto our voice: how will he then
vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
On the seventh day the child died. But David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Look, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not
listen to us. So how can we tell him the child is dead? He may even
harm himself.”
And the king said unto Cushi, Is the young man
Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all that rise against thee to do thee
hurt, be as that young man is.
The king asked the
Cushite, “Is the young man
Absalom all right?” And the
Cushite replied, “May what has become of the young man happen to the enemies of my lord the king and to all who rise up against you to
harm you.”
And David said to
Abishai, Now shall
Sheba the son of Bichri do us more
harm than did
Absalom: take thou thy lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him
fenced cities, and escape us.
And David said to
Abishai, “Now
Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more
harm than
Absalom. Take your lord’s servants and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and
elude us.”
But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.
Then
Elisha said, “Get some flour.” He threw it into the pot and said, “Pour it out for the people to eat.” And there was nothing
harmful in the pot.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest
bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not
grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
And Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would
bless me and
enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from
harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez.
Saying, Touch not mine
anointed, and do my prophets no
harm.
‘Do not touch My
anointed ones! Do no
harm to My prophets!’
That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a
rebellious city, and
hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved
sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
that a search should be made of the record books of your fathers. In these books you will discover and
verify that the city is a
rebellious city,
harmful to kings and provinces,
inciting sedition from ancient times. That is why this city was destroyed.
That
Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were
planning to
harm me.
The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king
Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their
hurt: and no man could
withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
In each of the provinces of King
Xerxes, the Jews assembled in their cities to attack those who sought to
harm them. No man could
withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen upon all peoples.
He shall deliver thee in six troubles:
yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places.
“Dominion and
awe belong to God; He establishes
harmony in the heights of heaven.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
who has no
slander on his tongue, who does no
harm to his
neighbor, who casts no
scorn on his friend,
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a
mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
Though they intend You
harm, the schemes they
devise will not prevail.
Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that
devise my
hurt.
May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plan to harm me be driven back and confounded.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my
hurt speak
mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
Those who seek my life lay snares; those who wish me
harm speak destruction,
plotting deceit all day long.
Let them be
ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
Let them be
ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my
hurt.
Let them be confounded and consumed that are
adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my
hurt.
May the accusers of my soul be
ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my
harm be covered with
scorn and disgrace.
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my
hurt.
My tongue will indeed
proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my
harm are disgraced and confounded.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come
nigh thee.
Though a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, no harm will come near you.
Saying, Touch not mine
anointed, and do my prophets no
harm.
“Do not touch My
anointed ones! Do no
harm to My prophets!”
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no
harm.
Do not
accuse a man without cause, when he has done you no
harm.
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that
hate me love death.
But he who fails to find me
harms himself; all who
hate me love death.”
There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.
The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall
abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
The fear of the LORD leads to life, that one may rest content, without
visitation from
harm.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life.
There is a
sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their
hurt.
There is a
grievous evil I have seen under the sun: wealth
hoarded to the
harm of its owner,
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Whoever keeps his command will come to no
harm, and a wise heart knows the right time and procedure.
They shall not
hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is full of water.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the
bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not
hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but the food of the serpent will be dust. They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain,” says the LORD.
They have
belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
They have
lied about the LORD and said: “He will not do anything;
harm will not come to us; we will not see sword or famine.
If ye
oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your
hurt:
if you no longer
oppress the foreigner and the fatherless and the widow, and if you no longer shed innocent blood in this place or follow other gods to your own
harm,
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Like scarecrows in a
cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they can do no
harm, and neither can they do any good.”
They say still unto them that
despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
They keep saying to those who
despise Me, ‘The LORD says that you will have peace,’ and to
everyone who walks in the
stubbornness of his own heart, ‘No
harm will come to you.’
And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and
provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no
hurt.
Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them, and do not
provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands. Then I will do you no
harm.’
Yet ye have not
hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might
provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own
hurt.
‘But to your own
harm, you have not
listened to Me,’ declares the LORD, ‘so you have
provoked Me to anger with the works of your hands.’
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and
besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we
procure great evil against our souls.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah or
anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did
Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the
disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great
harm on ourselves!”
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to
prosper you and not to
harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
“Take him, look after him, and do not let any harm come to him; do for him whatever he says.”
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
“Go and tell Ebed-melech the
Cushite that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to
fulfill My words against this city for
harm and not for good, and on that day they will be fulfilled before your eyes.
Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and
suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
So now, this is what the LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Why are you doing such great
harm to
yourselves by cutting off from Judah man and woman, child and infant, leaving
yourselves without a
remnant?
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching over them for harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.
And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will
punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:
This will be a sign to you that I will
punish you in this place, declares the LORD, so that you may know that My threats of
harm against you will surely stand.
That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received
usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
He withholds his hand from
harming the poor and takes no interest or
usury. He keeps My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a man will not die for his father’s iniquity. He will surely live.
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
You will go out through broken walls, each one straight
ahead of her, and you will be cast out toward
Harmon,” declares the LORD.
And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall
slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
Though they are driven by their enemies into captivity, there I will command the sword to
slay them. I will fix My eyes upon them for
harm and not for good.”
The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
The LORD has taken away your punishment; He has turned back your enemy. Israel’s King, the LORD, is among you; no longer will you fear any harm.
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of
wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and
harmless as doves.
Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among
wolves; therefore be as
shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not
hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
they will
pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not
harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”
And Jesus
rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and
hurt him not.
But Jesus
rebuked the
demon. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!” At this, the
demon threw the man down before them all and came out without
harming him.
Behold, I give unto you power to
tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means
hurt you.
Behold, I have given you authority to
tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will
harm you.
Then
Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
But
Ananias answered, “Lord, many people have told me about this man and all the
harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to
vex certain of the church.
About that time, King Herod reached out to harm some who belonged to the church.
But Paul
cried with a loud voice, saying, Do
thyself no
harm: for we are all here.
But Paul called out in a loud voice, “Do not
harm yourself! We are all here!”
But after long
abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have
hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from
Crete, and to have gained this
harm and loss.
After the men had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up among them and said, “Men, you should have followed my advice not to sail from
Crete. Then you would have
averted this
disaster and loss.
And he
shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no
harm.
But Paul
shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.
Howbeit they looked when he should have
swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no
harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
The islanders were expecting him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.
And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
The leaders replied, “We have not received any letters about you from
Judea, nor have any of the brothers from there reported or even mentioned anything bad about you.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but
condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Live in
harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but enjoy the company of the lowly. Do not be
conceited.
Now the God of
patience and
consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Now may the God who gives
endurance and encouragement grant you
harmony with one another in Christ Jesus,
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
In the following instructions I have no praise to offer, because your gatherings do more harm than good.
What
harmony is there between Christ and
Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
Now I
rejoice, not that ye were made
sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made
sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
And now I
rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to
repentance. For you felt the sorrow that God had intended, and so were not
harmed in any way by us.
Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did wrong or the one who was
harmed, but rather that your earnestness on our behalf would be made clear to you in the sight of God.
Finally, brethren,
farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Finally, brothers,
rejoice! Aim for perfect
harmony,
encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
so that you may be
blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a
crooked and
perverse generation, in which you
shine as lights in the world
Those who want to be rich, however, fall into
temptation and become ensnared by many
foolish and
harmful desires that
plunge them into ruin and destruction.
Alexander the
coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
Alexander the
coppersmith did great
harm to me. The Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
For such an high priest became us, who is holy,
harmless,
undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Such a high priest truly befits us—One who is holy, innocent,
undefiled, set apart from sinners, and
exalted above the heavens.
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
Who can
harm you if you are
zealous for what is good?
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to
riot in the
daytime. Spots they are and
blemishes,
sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be
hurt of the second death.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be
harmed by the second death.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a
penny, and three measures of barley for a
penny; and see thou
hurt not the oil and the wine.
And I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures, saying, “A
quart of wheat for a
denarius, and three quarts of barley for a
denarius, and do not
harm the oil and wine.”
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he
cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to
hurt the earth and the sea,
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, with the seal of the living God. And he called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:
Saying,
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
“Do not harm the land or sea or trees until we have sealed the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
And it was commanded them that they should not
hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
