Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
And Jotham
slept with
his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and
Ahaz his son reigned in
his stead.
And Jotham rested with
his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And
his son
Ahaz reigned in
his place.
Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David
his father:
Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. And unlike David
his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD.
Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, and burnt
his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
Moreover,
Ahaz burned incense in the Valley of
Hinnom and sacrificed
his sons in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
Wherefore the LORD
his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they
smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them
captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who
smote him with a great slaughter.
So the LORD
his God delivered
Ahaz into the hand of the king of
Aram, who attacked him and took many
captives to Damascus.
Ahaz was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with great force.
But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was
Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was
wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a
rage that reacheth up unto heaven.
But a prophet of the LORD named
Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army that returned to Samaria. “Look,” he said to them, “because of
His wrath against Judah, the LORD, the God of your fathers, has delivered them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a
rage that reaches up to heaven.
And in the time of
his distress did he
trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king
Ahaz.
In the time of
his distress, King
Ahaz became even more unfaithful to the LORD.
And
Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
Then
Ahaz gathered up the articles of the house of God, cut them into pieces, shut the doors of the house of the LORD, and set up altars of
his own on every street corner in Jerusalem.
And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and
provoked to anger the LORD God of
his fathers.
In every city of Judah he built high places to offer incense to other gods, and so he
provoked the LORD, the God of
his fathers.
Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
As for the rest of the acts of
Ahaz and all
his ways, from beginning to end, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
And
Ahaz slept with
his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the
sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and
Hezekiah his son reigned in
his stead.
And
Ahaz rested with
his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And
his son
Hezekiah reigned in
his place.
Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And
his mother’s name was
Abijah, the daughter of
Zechariah.
Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years.
His mother’s name was
Abijah, the daughter of
Zechariah.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done.
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
In the first month of the first year of
his reign,
Hezekiah opened and repaired the doors of the house of the LORD.
Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to
astonishment, and to
hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
Therefore, the wrath of the LORD has fallen upon Judah and Jerusalem, and He has made them an object of terror,
horror, and
mockery, as you can see with your own eyes.
Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, so that His fierce anger will turn away from us.
Moreover all the vessels, which king
Ahaz in
his reign did cast away in
his transgression, have we prepared and
sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
Moreover, we have prepared and consecrated all the articles that King
Ahaz in
his unfaithfulness cast aside during
his reign. They are now in front of the altar of the LORD.”
And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with
psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of
Gad the king’s
seer, and
Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by
his prophets.
Hezekiah stationed the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres according to the command of David, of
Gad the king’s
seer, and of
Nathan the prophet. For the command had come from the LORD through
His prophets.
Moreover
Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of
Asaph the
seer. And they
sang praises with
gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
Then King
Hezekiah and
his officials ordered the Levites to sing praises to the LORD in the words of David and of
Asaph the
seer. So they
sang praises with
gladness and bowed their heads and worshiped.
For the king had taken counsel, and
his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the
passover in the second month.
For the king and
his officials and the whole assembly in Jerusalem had decided to keep the
Passover in the second month,
So the posts went with the letters from the king and
his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the
remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.
So the couriers went throughout Israel and Judah with letters from the king and
his officials, which read: “Children of Israel, return to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, so that He may return to those of you who remain, who have escaped the
grasp of the kings of Assyria.
Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield
yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into
his sanctuary, which he hath
sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of
his wrath may turn away from you.
Now do not
stiffen your necks as your fathers did. Submit to the LORD and come to
His sanctuary, which He has consecrated
forever. Serve the LORD your God, so that
His fierce anger will turn away from you.
For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find
compassion before them that lead them
captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is
gracious and
merciful, and will not turn away
his face from you, if ye return unto him.
For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and sons will receive mercy in the presence of their captors and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is
gracious and
merciful; He will not turn
His face away from you if you return to Him.”
Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.
Moreover, the power of God was on the people in Judah to give them one heart to obey the command of the king and his officials according to the word of the LORD.
That prepareth
his heart to seek God, the LORD God of
his fathers, though he be not
cleansed according to the
purification of the sanctuary.
who sets
his heart on seeking God—the LORD, the God of
his fathers—even if he is not
cleansed according to the
purification rules of the sanctuary.”
Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even unto heaven.
Then the priests and the Levites stood to
bless the people, and God heard their voice, and their prayer came into
His holy dwelling place in heaven.
Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and
brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and
Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to
his possession, into their own cities.
When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars,
chopped down the Asherah poles, and
tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and
Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to
his own property.
And
Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to
his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give
thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.
Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—for the burnt offerings and peace offerings, for ministry, for giving
thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.
He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.
The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.
And when
Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and
his people Israel.
When
Hezekiah and
his officials came and viewed the heaps, they blessed the LORD and
His people Israel.
And
Azariah the chief priest of the house of
Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left
plenty: for the LORD hath blessed
his people; and that which is left is this great store.
and
Azariah, the chief priest of the household of
Zadok, answered him, “Since the people began to bring their contributions into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and there is
plenty left over, because the LORD has blessed
His people; this great abundance is what is left over.”
And brought in the offerings and the
tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: over which Cononiah the
Levite was ruler, and Shimei
his brother was the next.
And they faithfully brought in the contributions,
tithes, and dedicated gifts. Conaniah the
Levite was the officer in charge of them, and
his brother Shimei was second.
And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and
Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei
his brother, at the commandment of
Hezekiah the king, and
Azariah the ruler of the house of God.
Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath,
Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and
his brother Shimei, by appointment of King
Hezekiah and of
Azariah the chief official of the house of God.
And next him were
Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brethren by courses, as well to the great as to the small:
Under
his authority,
Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah faithfully distributed portions to their fellow priests in their cities, according to their divisions, old and young alike.
Beside their
genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even unto every one that entereth into the house of the LORD,
his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses;
In addition, they distributed portions to the males registered by
genealogy who were three years of age or older—to all who would enter the house of the LORD for their daily duties for service in the responsibilities of their divisions—
And thus did
Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD
his God.
So this is what
Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what was good and upright and true before the LORD
his God.
And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek
his God, he did it with all
his heart, and
prospered.
He was
diligent in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law and the commandments, in order to seek
his God. And so he
prospered.
He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
he consulted with
his leaders and commanders about
stopping up the waters of the springs outside the city, and they helped him carry it out.
After this did
Sennacherib king of Assyria send
his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against
Lachish, and all
his power with him,) unto
Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
Later, as
Sennacherib king of Assyria and all
his forces besieged
Lachish, he sent
his servants to Jerusalem with a message for King
Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah who were in Jerusalem:
Hath not the same
Hezekiah taken away
his high places and
his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
Did not
Hezekiah himself remove
His high places and
His altars and say to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn sacrifices’?
Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
Who among all the gods of these nations that my fathers devoted to destruction has been able to deliver his people from my hand? How then can your God deliver you from my hand?
Now therefore let not
Hezekiah deceive you, nor
persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver
his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
So now, do not let
Hezekiah deceive you, and do not let him mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver
his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand!”
And
his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against
his servant
Hezekiah.
And the servants of
Sennacherib spoke further against the LORD God and against
His servant
Hezekiah.
He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of
Hezekiah deliver
his people out of mine hand.
He also wrote letters
mocking the LORD, the God of Israel, and saying against Him: “Just as the gods of the nations did not deliver their people from my hand, so the God of
Hezekiah will not deliver
His people from my hand.”
And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to
his own land. And when he was come into the house of
his god, they that came forth of
his own
bowels slew him there with the sword.
and the LORD sent an angel who
annihilated every mighty man of
valor and every leader and commander in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he withdrew to
his own land in disgrace. And when he entered the temple of
his god, some of
his own sons struck him down with the sword.
But
Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for
his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
But because
his heart was proud,
Hezekiah did not repay the favor shown to him. Therefore wrath came upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
Notwithstanding
Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of
his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of
Hezekiah.
Then
Hezekiah humbled the pride of
his heart—he and the people of Jerusalem—so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them during the days of
Hezekiah.
And
Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself
treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
Hezekiah had very great riches and honor, and he made
treasuries for
his silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields, and all kinds of valuable articles.
This same
Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of
Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And
Hezekiah prospered in all
his works.
It was
Hezekiah who blocked the upper outlet of the Spring of
Gihon and channeled it down to the west side of the City of David. And
Hezekiah prospered in all that he did.
Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to
enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in
his heart.
And so when ambassadors of the rulers of Babylon were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone to test him, that He might know all that was in
Hezekiah’s heart.
Now the rest of the acts of
Hezekiah, and
his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
As for the rest of the acts of
Hezekiah and
his deeds of loving devotion, they are indeed written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
And
Hezekiah slept with
his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the
sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at
his death. And
Manasseh his son reigned in
his stead.
And
Hezekiah rested with
his fathers and was buried in the upper tombs of David’s descendants. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at
his death. And
his son
Manasseh reigned in
his place.
For he built again the high places which
Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for
Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
For he rebuilt the high places that
his father
Hezekiah had
torn down, and he raised up altars for the Baals and made Asherah poles. And he worshiped and served all the host of heaven.
And he caused
his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of
Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used
witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
He sacrificed
his sons in the fire in the Valley of
Hinnom. He practiced
sorcery,
divination, and
witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to anger.
And he set a carved image, the
idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon
his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
Manasseh even took the carved image he had made and set it up in the house of God, of which God had said to David and
his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
And the LORD spake to
Manasseh, and to
his people: but they would not
hearken.
And the LORD spoke to
Manasseh and
his people, but they did not
listen.
Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took
Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with
fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
So the LORD brought against them the military commanders of the king of Assyria, who captured
Manasseh, put a hook in
his nose, bound him with bronze
shackles, and took him to Babylon.
And when he was in
affliction, he
besought the LORD
his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of
his fathers,
And in
his distress,
Manasseh sought the favor of the LORD
his God and earnestly humbled himself before the God of
his fathers.
And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard
his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into
his kingdom. Then
Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
And when he prayed to Him, the LORD received
his plea and heard
his petition; so He brought him back to Jerusalem and to
his kingdom. Then
Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
Now the rest of the acts of
Manasseh, and
his prayer unto
his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
As for the rest of the acts of
Manasseh, along with
his prayer to
his God and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, they are indeed written in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all
his sin, and
his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and
graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.
His prayer and how God received
his plea, as well as all
his sin and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself, they are indeed written in the Records of the Seers.
So
Manasseh slept with
his fathers, and they buried him in
his own house: and Amon
his son reigned in
his stead.
And
Manasseh rested with
his fathers and was buried at
his palace. And
his son Amon reigned in
his place.
But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did
Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which
Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as
his father
Manasseh had done. Amon served and sacrificed to all the idols that
his father
Manasseh had made,
And humbled not himself before the LORD, as
Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon
trespassed more and more.
but he did not humble himself before the LORD as
his father
Manasseh had done; instead, Amon increased
his guilt.
And
his servants
conspired against him, and
slew him in
his own house.
Then the servants of Amon
conspired against him and killed him in
his palace.
But the people of the land
slew all them that had
conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made
Josiah his son king in
his stead.
But the people of the land killed all those who had
conspired against King Amon, and they made
his son
Josiah king in
his place.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.
For in the eighth year of
his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David
his father: and in the
twelfth year he began to
purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the
molten images.
In the eighth year of
his reign, while he was still young,
Josiah began to seek the God of
his father David, and in the
twelfth year he began to
cleanse Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images.
And they
brake down the altars of
Baalim in
his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the
molten images, he
brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and
strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
Then in
his presence the altars of the Baals were
torn down, and he cut to pieces the incense altars that were above them. He
shattered the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images,
crushed them to dust, and scattered them over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
Now in the
eighteenth year of
his reign, when he had
purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD
his God.
Now in the
eighteenth year of
his reign, in order to
cleanse the land and the temple,
Josiah sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah son of Joahaz, the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD
his God.
And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
When the king heard the words of the Law, he
tore his clothes
Because thine heart was tender, and thou
didst humble
thyself before God, when thou heardest
his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst
thyself before me, and
didst rend thy clothes, and
weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
because your heart was tender and you humbled
yourself before God when you heard
His words against this place and against its people, and because you have humbled
yourself before Me and you have
torn your clothes and
wept before Me, I have heard you,’ declares the LORD.
And the king stood in
his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep
his commandments, and
his testimonies, and
his statutes, with all
his heart, and with all
his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
So the king stood by the
pillar and made a covenant before the LORD to follow the LORD and to keep
His commandments, decrees, and statutes with all
his heart and all
his soul, and to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book.
And
Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that
pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all
his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And
Josiah removed all the abominations from all the lands belonging to the Israelites, and he required
everyone in Israel to serve the LORD their God. Throughout
his reign they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,
To the Levites who taught all Israel and were holy to the LORD,
Josiah said: “Put the holy ark in the temple built by Solomon son of David king of Israel. It is not to be carried around on your shoulders. Now serve the LORD your God and
His people Israel.
And prepare
yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon
his son.
Prepare
yourselves by families in your divisions, according to the instructions written by David king of Israel and Solomon
his son.
And
Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the
passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king’s substance.
From
his own flocks and herds
Josiah contributed 30,000 lambs and goats
plus 3,000 bulls for the
Passover offerings for all the people who were present.
And
his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and
Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the
passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
His officials also contributed willingly to the people and priests and Levites. Hilkiah,
Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of the house of God, gave the priests 2,600
Passover offerings and 300 bulls.
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel,
his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for
passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
Additionally, Conaniah and
his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad, officers of the Levites,
donated to the Levites 5,000
Passover offerings and 500 bulls.
Nevertheless
Josiah would not turn
his face from him, but
disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and
hearkened not unto the words of
Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of
Megiddo.
Josiah, however, did not turn away from him; instead, in order to
engage him in battle, he
disguised himself. He did not
listen to Neco’s words from the mouth of God, but went to fight him on the Plain of
Megiddo.
And the archers shot at king
Josiah; and the king said to
his servants, Have me away; for I am
sore wounded.
There the archers shot King
Josiah, who said to
his servants, “Take me away, for I am badly wounded!”
His servants therefore took him out of that
chariot, and put him in the second
chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the
sepulchres of
his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem
mourned for
Josiah.
So
his servants took him out of
his chariot, put him in
his second
chariot, and brought him to Jerusalem, where he died. And
Josiah was buried in the tomb of
his fathers, and all Judah and Jerusalem
mourned for him.
Now the rest of the acts of
Josiah, and
his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,

Then the people of the land took
Jehoahaz the son of
Josiah, and made him king in
his father’s
stead in Jerusalem.

Jehoahaz son of
Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in place of
his father.
And the king of Egypt made Eliakim
his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned
his name to
Jehoiakim. And
Necho took
Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
Then Neco king of Egypt made Eliakim brother of
Jehoahaz king over Judah and Jerusalem, and he changed Eliakim’s name to
Jehoiakim. But Neco took Eliakim’s brother
Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt.
Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD
his God.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD
his God.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in
his temple at Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar also took to Babylon some of the articles from the house of the LORD, and he put them in
his temple in Babylon.
Now the rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, and
his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and
Jehoiachin his son reigned in
his stead.
As for the rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, the abominations he committed, and all that was found against him, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And
his son
Jehoiachin reigned in
his place.
And when the year was
expired, king
Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made
Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
In the spring, King
Nebuchadnezzar summoned
Jehoiachin and brought him to Babylon, along with the articles of value from the house of the LORD. And he made
Jehoiachin’s relative
Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke for the LORD.
And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by
his messengers, rising up
betimes, and sending; because he had
compassion on
his people, and on
his dwelling place:
Again and again the LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to
His people through
His messengers because He had
compassion on them and on
His dwelling place.
But they
mocked the messengers of God, and
despised his words, and misused
his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against
his people, till there was no remedy.
But they
mocked the messengers of God,
despising His words and
scoffing at
His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD against
His people was
stirred up beyond remedy.
Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who
slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no
compassion upon young man or
maiden, old man, or him that
stooped for age: he gave them all into
his hand.
So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who put their young men to the sword in the sanctuary,
sparing neither young men nor young women, neither elderly nor infirm. God gave them all into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar,
And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
Those who escaped the sword were carried by
Nebuchadnezzar into exile in Babylon, and they became servants to him and
his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power.
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD
stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a
proclamation throughout all
his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to
fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD
stirred the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to send a
proclamation throughout
his kingdom and to put it in writing as follows:
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.
“This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, who has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, has appointed me to build a house for Him at Jerusalem in Judah.
Whoever among you belongs to
His people, may the LORD
his God be with him, and may he go up.’”
