His chest is as hard as a rock, as hard as a lower
millstone!
When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they
purify themselves.
Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the
mire.
Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
Nothing on earth is his equal— a creature devoid of fear!
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for
yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for
yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept
his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”
And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessions.
Then came there unto him all
his brethren, and all
his sisters, and all they that had been of
his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in
his house: and they
bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an
earring of gold.
All
his brothers and sisters and prior acquaintances came and
dined with him in
his house. They
consoled him and comforted him over all the
adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. And each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than
his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she
asses.
So the LORD blessed Job’s latter days more than
his first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female
donkeys.
And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.
He named his first daughter Jemimah, his second Keziah, and his third Keren-happuch.
After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.
After this, Job lived 140 years and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.
But
his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in
his law
doth he
meditate day and night.
But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in
his season;
his leaf also shall not wither; and
whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against
his anointed, saying,
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against
His Anointed One:
Then shall he speak unto them in
his wrath, and
vex them in
his sore displeasure.
Then He rebukes them in
His anger, and terrifies them in
His fury:
Kiss the Son, lest he be
angry, and ye perish from the way, when
his wrath is
kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Kiss the Son, lest He be
angry and you perish in your rebellion, when
His wrath ignites in an instant. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.
I
cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of
his holy hill.
Selah.
To the LORD I cry
aloud, and He answers me from
His holy mountain.
Selah If he turn not, he will
whet his sword; he hath bent
his bow, and made it ready.
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
He has prepared His deadly weapons; He ordains His arrows with fire.
He made a pit, and
digged it, and is fallen into the
ditch which he made.
He has
dug a hole and hollowed it out; he has fallen into a pit of
his own making.
His mischief shall return upon
his own head, and
his violent dealing shall come down upon
his own
pate.
His trouble recoils on himself, and his violence falls on his own head.
I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
I will
thank the LORD for
His righteousness and sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet:
But the LORD shall
endure for ever: he hath prepared
his throne for judgment.
But the LORD abides
forever; He has established
His throne for judgment.
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in
Zion: declare among the people
his doings.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in
Zion;
proclaim His deeds among the nations.
The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is
snared in the work of
his own hands. Higgaion.
Selah.
The LORD is known by the justice He brings; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. Higgaion
Selah The wicked in
his pride
doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
In pride the wicked pursue the
needy; let them be caught in the schemes they
devise.
For the wicked boasteth of
his heart’s desire, and blesseth the
covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of
his heart; he blesses the
greedy and reviles the LORD.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
His ways are always
grievous; thy judgments are far above out of
his sight: as for all
his enemies, he puffeth at them.
He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.
He hath said in
his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in
adversity.
He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
His mouth is full of
cursing and
deceit and
fraud: under
his tongue is mischief and vanity.
He sitteth in the
lurking places of the villages: in the secret places
doth he murder the innocent:
his eyes are
privily set against the poor.
He lies in wait near the villages; in
ambush he slays the innocent;
his eyes watch in
stealth for the helpless.
He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in
his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he
doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into
his net.
He lies in wait like a lion in a
thicket; he lurks to seize the
oppressed; he catches the lowly in
his net.
He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
They are
crushed and beaten down; the
hapless fall prey to
his strength.
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”
Wherefore
doth the wicked
contemn God? he hath said in
his heart, Thou
wilt not require it.
Why has the wicked man
renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Break the arm of the wicked and
evildoer; call him to account for
his wickedness until none is left to be found.
The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
The LORD is King
forever and ever; the nations perish from
His land.
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. His eyes are watching closely; they examine the sons of men.
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence.
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness;
his countenance
doth behold the upright.
For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face.
They speak vanity every one with
his neighbour: with
flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
They lie to one another; they speak with
flattering lips and a double heart.
The
fool hath said in
his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done
abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The
fool says in
his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are
vile. There is no one who does good.
Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of
his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When the LORD restores
His captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He who walks with
integrity and practices righteousness, who speaks the truth from
his heart,
He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
In whose eyes a
vile person is
contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to
his own
hurt, and changeth not.
who despises the
vile but honors those who fear the LORD, who does not
revise a costly oath,
He that putteth not out
his money to
usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
who
lends his money without interest and refuses a
bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be
shaken.
Like as a lion that is
greedy of
his prey, and as it were a young lion
lurking in secret places.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and
cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of
his temple, and my cry came before him, even into
his ears.
In my distress I called upon the LORD; I
cried to my God for help. From
His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for
His help reached
His ears.
There went up a smoke out of
his nostrils, and fire out of
his mouth
devoured: coals were
kindled by it.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.
He made darkness
his secret place;
his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the
skies.
He made darkness
His hiding place, and storm clouds a
canopy around Him.
At the brightness that was before him
his thick clouds passed,
hail stones and coals of fire.
From the brightness of His presence His clouds advanced— hailstones and coals of fire.
The LORD also
thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave
his voice;
hail stones and coals of fire.
The LORD
thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded— hailstones and coals of fire.
Yea, he sent out
his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and
discomfited them.
He shot
His arrows and scattered the foes; He
hurled lightning and routed them.
For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.
Therefore hath the LORD
recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in
his eyesight.
So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
As for God,
his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all those that trust in him.
As for God,
His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is
flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Great salvation He brings to
His king. He shows loving devotion to
His anointed, to David and
his descendants
forever.
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the
firmament sheweth
his handywork.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the
skies proclaim the work of
His hands.
Which is as a
bridegroom coming out of
his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and
his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing
hid from the heat thereof.
it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its
warmth.
Who can understand
his errors?
cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Now know I that the LORD saveth
his anointed; he will hear him from
his holy heaven with the saving strength of
his right hand.
Now I know that the LORD saves
His anointed; He answers him from
His holy heaven with the saving power of
His right hand.
Thou hast given him
his heart’s desire, and hast not
withholden the request of
his lips.
Selah.
You have granted
his heart’s desire and have not
withheld the request of
his lips.
Selah For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
For You
welcomed him with rich blessings; You placed on
his head a crown of pure gold.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
Great is
his glory in Your salvation; You
bestow on him
splendor and majesty.
Thou shalt make them as a
fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall
swallow them up in
his wrath, and the fire shall
devour them.
You will place them in a
fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing. In
His wrath the LORD will
engulf them, and the fire will
consume them.
All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will
kneel before Him— even those unable to preserve their lives.
They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
They will come and
proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn— all that He has done.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.
Who shall
ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in
his holy place?
Who may
ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in
His holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up
his soul unto vanity, nor
sworn deceitfully.
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up
his soul to an
idol or
swear deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
He will receive blessing from the LORD and
vindication from the God of
his salvation.
The
meek will he guide in judgment: and the
meek will he teach
his way.
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep
his covenant and
his testimonies.
All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.
His soul shall dwell at ease; and
his seed shall
inherit the earth.
His soul will dwell in prosperity, and
his descendants will
inherit the land.
The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will
shew them
his covenant.
The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all
his troubles.
Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress.
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to
enquire in
his temple.
One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to
gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in
His temple.
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in
his pavilion: in the secret of
his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in
His shelter; He will
conceal me under the cover of
His tent; He will set me high upon a rock.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in
his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing,
yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
Then my head will be held high above my enemies around me. At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O LORD, I will seek.
Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD or what
His hands have done, He will
tear them down and never rebuild them.
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of
his anointed.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto
his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of
holiness.
The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to
calve, and discovereth the forests: and in
his temple
doth every one speak of
his glory.
The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”
The LORD will give strength unto
his people; the LORD will
bless his people with peace.
The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.
Sing to the LORD, O you His saints, and praise His holy name.
For
his anger endureth but a moment; in
his favour is life:
weeping may
endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
For
His anger is fleeting, but
His favor lasts a lifetime.
Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
Blessed be the LORD, for He has shown me His loving devotion in a city under siege.
O love the LORD, all ye
his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and
plentifully rewardeth the proud
doer.
Love the LORD, all
His saints. The LORD preserves the faithful, but fully repays the
arrogant.
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
For the word of the LORD is upright, and all
His work is
trustworthy.
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His loving devotion.
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
The counsel of the LORD stands
forever, the purposes of
His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
