Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Behold, this was the
iniquity of thy sister
Sodom, pride,
fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she
strengthen the hand of the poor and
needy.
Now this was the
iniquity of your sister
Sodom: She and her daughters were
arrogant, overfed, and
complacent; they did not help the poor and
needy.
He that hath not given forth upon
usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from
iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
He does not
engage in
usury or take excess interest, but he withholds his hand from
iniquity and executes true justice between men.
That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received
usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the
iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
He withholds his hand from
harming the poor and takes no interest or
usury. He keeps My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a man will not die for his father’s
iniquity. He will surely live.
As for his father, because he cruelly
oppressed,
spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his
iniquity.
As for his father, he will die for his own
iniquity, because he practiced
extortion,
robbed his brother, and did what was wrong among his people.
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the
iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth
iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his
trespass that he hath
trespassed, and in his sin that he hath
sinned, in them shall he die.
But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices
iniquity,
committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die.
When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, he will die for this. He will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD.
Repent, and turn
yourselves from all your transgressions; so
iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD.
Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so that your
iniquity will not become your
downfall.
And it shall be unto them as a false
divination in their sight, to them that have
sworn oaths: but he will call to
remembrance the
iniquity, that they may be taken.
It will seem like a false
omen to the eyes of those who have
sworn allegiance to him, but it will draw attention to their guilt and take them
captive.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your
iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to
remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because you have drawn attention to your guilt,
exposing your transgressions, so that your sins are revealed in all your deeds—because you have come to
remembrance—you shall be taken in hand.
And thou,
profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when
iniquity shall have an end,
And you, O
profane and wicked prince of Israel, the day has come for your final punishment.’
Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.
while they offer false visions for you and lying divinations about you— to be placed on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, the time of their final punishment.
Thou
wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou
wast created, till
iniquity was found in thee.
From the day you were created you were
blameless in your ways— until wickedness was found in you.
Thou hast
defiled thy
sanctuaries by the multitude of thine
iniquities, by the
iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall
devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
By the multitude of your
iniquities and the
dishonesty of your trading you have
profaned your
sanctuaries. So I made fire come from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the eyes of all who saw you.
And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their
iniquity to
remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
Egypt will never again be an object of trust for the house of Israel, but will remind them of their iniquity in turning to the Egyptians. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.”
But if the
watchman see the sword come, and blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not
warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his
iniquity; but his blood will I require at the
watchman’s hand.
But if the
watchman sees the sword coming and fails to blow the horn to
warn the people, and the sword comes and takes away a life, then that one will be taken away in his
iniquity, but I will hold the
watchman accountable for his blood.’
When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou
dost not speak to
warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his
iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
If I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to
dissuade him from his way, then that wicked man will die in his
iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood.
Nevertheless, if thou
warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his
iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
But if you
warn the wicked man to turn from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his
iniquity, but you will have saved your life.
When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but he then trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, then none of his righteous works will be remembered; he will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
If the wicked restore the
pledge, give again that he had
robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without
committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
if he restores a
pledge, makes
restitution for what he has
stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without practicing
iniquity—then he will surely live; he will not die.
When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will die for it.
Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their
calamity, in the time that their
iniquity had an end:
Because you
harbored an ancient hatred and delivered the Israelites over to the sword in the time of their
disaster at the final stage of their punishment,
And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their
iniquity: because they
trespassed against me, therefore
hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their
iniquity, because they were unfaithful to Me. So I
hid My face from them and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went
astray, which went
astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their
iniquity.
Surely the Levites who
wandered away from Me when Israel went
astray, and who
wandered away from Me after their idols, will bear the consequences of their
iniquity.
Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity.
Because they ministered before their idols and became a
stumbling block of
iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I
swore with an
uplifted hand concerning them that they would bear the consequences of their
iniquity, declares the Lord GOD.
We have
sinned, and have committed
iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
we have
sinned and done wrong. We have acted wickedly and rebelled. We have turned away from Your commandments and ordinances.
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for
iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city to stop their
transgression, to put an end to sin, to make
atonement for
iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the Most Holy Place.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
And the pride of Israel
doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their
iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.
Israel’s
arrogance testifies against them; Israel and Ephraim
stumble in their
iniquity; even Judah stumbles with them.
Gilead is a city of them that work
iniquity, and is
polluted with blood.
When I would have
healed Israel, then the
iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit
falsehood; and the
thief cometh in, and the
troop of robbers spoileth without.
When I
heal Israel, the
iniquity of Ephraim will be exposed, as well as the crimes of Samaria. For they practice
deceit and
thieves break in;
bandits raid in the streets.
They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to Me, and though they eat the meat, the LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their
iniquity and
punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.
The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine
iniquity, and the great hatred.
The days of punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the greatness of your
iniquity and hostility.
They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah; He will remember their guilt; He will
punish their sins.
O Israel, thou hast
sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of
iniquity did not overtake them.
Since the days of Gibeah you have
sinned, O Israel, and there you have remained. Did not the battle in Gibeah overtake the sons of
iniquity?
Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have
reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou
didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
You have
plowed wickedness and
reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your mighty men,
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”
Is there
iniquity in
Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in
Gilgal;
yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Is there
iniquity in
Gilead? They will surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in
Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of stones in the furrows of the field.
The
iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is
hid.
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is stored up.
O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have
stumbled by your
iniquity.
Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all
iniquity, and receive us
graciously: so will we render the
calves of our lips.
Bring your confessions and return to the LORD. Say to Him: “Take away all our
iniquity and receive us
graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips.
Woe to them that
devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they
practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
Woe to those who
devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they
accomplish it because the power is in their hands.
They build up
Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with
iniquity.
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth
iniquity, and passeth by the
transgression of the
remnant of his
heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Who is a God like You, who pardons
iniquity and passes over the
transgression of the
remnant of His inheritance— who does not retain His anger
forever, because He delights in loving devotion?
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on
iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal
treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot
tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You
tolerate the faithless? Why are You silent while the wicked
swallow up those more righteous than themselves?
Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by
iniquity!
Woe to him who builds a city with
bloodshed and establishes a town by
iniquity!
The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do
iniquity: every morning
doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
The LORD within her is righteous; He does no wrong. He applies His justice morning by morning; He does not fail at
dawn, yet the unjust know no shame.
The
remnant of Israel shall not do
iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a
deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
The
remnant of Israel will no longer do wrong or speak lies, nor will a
deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will feed and lie down, with no one to make them
tremble.”
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine
iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your
iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will
engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the
iniquity of that land in one day.
See the stone I have set before Joshua; on that one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will
engrave on it an inscription, declares the LORD of Hosts, and I will remove the
iniquity of this land in a single day.
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an
ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.
“What is it?” I asked. And he replied, “A measuring
basket is going forth.” Then he continued, “This is their
iniquity in all the land.”
The law of truth was in his mouth, and
iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and
equity, and did turn many away from
iniquity.
True instruction was in his mouth, and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.
And then will I
profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work
iniquity.
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of
lawlessness!’
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that
offend, and them which do
iniquity;
The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will
weed out of His kingdom every cause of sin and all who practice
lawlessness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of
hypocrisy and
iniquity.
In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of
hypocrisy and wickedness.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Because of the
multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
And he will answer, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you evildoers.’
(Now with the reward for his wickedness
Judas bought a field; there he fell
headlong and
burst open in the middle, and all his intestines
spilled out.
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and
captive to
iniquity.”
I speak after the manner of men because of the
infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to
iniquity unto
iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto
holiness.
I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to
holiness.
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth.
For the
mystery of
iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
For the
mystery of
lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from
iniquity.”
Who gave himself for us, that he might
redeem us from all
iniquity, and
purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
Thou hast loved righteousness, and
hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath
anointed thee with the oil of
gladness above thy fellows.
You have loved righteousness and
hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has
anointed You above Your companions with the oil of joy.”
And the tongue is a fire, a world of
iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of
hell.
The tongue also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by
hell.
But was
rebuked for his
iniquity: the
dumb ass speaking with man’s voice
forbad the madness of the prophet.
But he was
rebuked for his
transgression by a
donkey, otherwise without speech, that spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
For both they and their sons have married with their daughters, and the holy seed is mixed with the strange people of the land; and from the beginning of this matter the rulers and the great men have been partakers of this iniquity.
So all they that were then moved at the word of the Lord God of Israel assembled unto me, whilst I
mourned for the
iniquity: but I sat still full of
heaviness until the evening sacrifice.
But iniquity shall be increased above that which now thou seest, or that thou hast heard long ago.
For while we lived and committed iniquity, we considered not that we should begin to suffer for it after death.
So shall righteousness
hate iniquity, when she decketh herself, and shall
accuse her to her face, when he cometh that shall defend him that
diligently searcheth out every sin upon earth.
For yet a little, and iniquity shall be taken away out of the earth, and righteousness shall reign among you.
And whilst they
sinned not before their God, they
prospered, because the God that hateth
iniquity was with them.
But if there be no iniquity in their nation, let my lord now pass by, lest their Lord defend them, and their God be for them, and we become a reproach before all the world.
And thou, Achior, an
hireling of
Ammon, which hast spoken these words in the day of thine
iniquity, shalt see my face no more from this day, until I take
vengeance of this nation that came out of Egypt.
And blessed is the
eunuch, which with his hands hath wrought no
iniquity, nor imagined wicked things against God: for unto him shall be given the special gift of faith, and an inheritance in the temple of the Lord more acceptable to his mind.
Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up against them, and like a storm shall blow them away: thus
iniquity shall lay waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.
Depart from the unjust, and iniquity shall turn away from thee.
Seek not to be judge, being not able to take away iniquity; lest at any time thou fear the person of the mighty, an stumblingblock in the way of thy uprightness.
Pride is
hateful before God and man: and by both
doth one commit
iniquity.
A
covetous man’s eye is not satisfied with his portion; and the
iniquity of the wicked drieth up his soul.
Turn again to the most High, and turn away from
iniquity: for he will lead thee out of darkness into the light of health, and
hate thou
abomination vehemently.
He that tilleth his land shall increase his
heap: and he that pleaseth great men shall get
pardon for
iniquity.
All
iniquity is as a two edged sword, the wounds
whereof cannot be
healed.
A man that useth much
swearing shall be filled with
iniquity, and the plague shall never depart from his house: if he shall
offend, his sin shall be upon him: and if he acknowledge not his sin, he maketh a double offence: and if he
swear in vain, he shall not be innocent, but his house shall be full of
calamities.
As the lion lieth in wait for the prey; so sin for them that work iniquity.
Of an offence before a judge and ruler; of
iniquity before a congregation and people; of unjust dealing before thy
partner and friend;
He
behaved himself uprightly in the conversion of the people, and took away the abominations of
iniquity.
And for this cause thou hast put thy fear in our hearts, to the intent that we should call upon thy name, and praise thee in our captivity: for we have called to mind all the
iniquity of our forefathers, that
sinned before thee.
For we have
sinned and committed
iniquity, departing from thee.
Wherefore the wicked
shrunk for fear of him, and all the workers of
iniquity were troubled, because salvation
prospered in his hand.
They come against us in much pride and
iniquity to destroy us, and our wives and children, and to
spoil us:
Now after the death of
Judas the wicked began to put forth their heads in all the coasts of Israel, and there arose up all such as wrought
iniquity.
