And they shall
keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come
nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
And they shall attend to your duties and to all the duties of the Tent; but they must not come near to the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar, or both they and you will die.
And they shall be joined unto thee, and
keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come
nigh unto you.
They are to join you and attend to the duties of the Tent of Meeting, doing all the work at the Tent; but no outsider may come near you.
And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
And you shall attend to the duties of the sanctuary and of the altar, so that wrath may not fall on the Israelites again.
Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall
keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar, and within the
vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
But only you and your sons shall attend to your priesthood for everything concerning the altar and what is inside the
veil, and you are to perform that service. I am giving you the work of the priesthood as a gift, but any outsider who comes near the sanctuary must be put to death.”
And on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no
servile work, and ye shall
keep a feast unto the LORD seven days:

keep alive for
yourselves.
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the
beeves, of the
asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which
keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, sheep, or other animals, and give them to the Levites who
keep charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.”
So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
No inheritance in Israel may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the Israelites is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.
No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Israel must retain its inheritance.”
And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be
smitten before your enemies.
But the LORD said to me, “Tell them not to go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from defeat by your enemies.”
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

Only take
heed to
thyself, and
keep thy soul
diligently, lest thou
forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Only be on your guard and
diligently watch
yourselves, so that you do not
forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.

keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest
prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

today, so that you and your children after you may
prosper, and that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for all time.

wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to
keep the sabbath day.

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
If only they had such a heart to fear Me and
keep all My commandments always, so that it might be well with them and with their children
forever.
That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

keep the oath which he had
sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of
bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

swore to your fathers, He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

So keep the commandments and statutes and ordinances that I am giving you to follow this day.
Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye
hearken to these judgments, and
keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall
keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he
sware unto thy fathers:
If you
listen to these ordinances and
keep them carefully, then the LORD your God will
keep His covenant and the loving devotion that He
swore to your fathers.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Remember that these forty years the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness, so that He might humble you and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commandments.
Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and fearing Him.

forget not the LORD thy God, in not
keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart,
dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God
doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It is not because of your righteousness or uprightness of heart that you are going in to possess their land, but it is because of their wickedness that the LORD your God is driving out these nations before you, to
keep the promise He
swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD that I am giving you this day for your own good?
Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and
keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments,
alway.
You shall therefore love the LORD your God and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.
Therefore shall ye
keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land,
whither ye go to possess it;
You shall therefore
keep every commandment I am giving you
today, so that you may have the strength to go in and possess the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,
For if ye shall
diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to
cleave unto him;
For if you carefully keep all these commandments I am giving you to follow—to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him—
Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and
keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and
cleave unto him.
You are to follow the LORD your God and fear Him.
Keep His commandments and
listen to His voice; serve Him and hold fast to Him.

hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to
keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
because you obey the LORD your God,
keeping all His commandments I am giving you
today and doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD your God.
Observe the month of
Abib, and
keep the
passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of
Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.
Observe the month of
Abib and
celebrate the
Passover to the LORD your God, because in the month of
Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
And thou shalt
keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a
freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
And you shall
celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with a
freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you,
Seven days shalt thou
keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely
rejoice.
For seven days you shall
celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place He will choose, because the LORD your God will
bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that your joy will be complete.
And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by carefully observing all the words of this instruction and these statutes.
If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
and if you carefully
keep all these commandments I am giving you
today, loving the LORD your God and walking in His ways at all times, then you are to add three more cities to these three.
When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.
When you are
encamped against your enemies, then you shall
keep yourself from every wicked thing.
When thou shalt
vow a
vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not
slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.
If you make a
vow to the LORD your God, do not be slow to
keep it, because He will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin.
That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt
keep and perform; even a
freewill offering, according as thou hast
vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.
Be careful to follow through on what comes from your lips, because you have freely
vowed to the LORD your God with your own mouth.
This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
The LORD your God commands you this day to follow these statutes and ordinances. You must be careful to follow them with all your heart and with all your soul.
Thou hast
avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to
keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to
hearken unto his voice:
Today you have proclaimed that the LORD is your God and that you will walk in His ways,
keep His statutes and commandments and ordinances, and
listen to His voice.
And the LORD hath
avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest
keep all his commandments;
And
today the LORD has proclaimed that you are His people and
treasured possession as He promised, that you are to
keep all His commandments,
And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
Then Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: “
Keep all the commandments I am giving you
today.
The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath
sworn unto thee, if thou shalt
keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
The LORD will establish you as His holy people, just as He has
sworn to you, if you
keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the LORD your God and keep the commandments and statutes He gave you.
Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may
prosper in all that ye do.
So
keep and follow the words of this covenant, that you may
prosper in all you do.
If thou shalt
hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to
keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
if you obey the LORD your God by keeping His commandments and statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to
keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in the land
whither thou goest to possess it.
For I am commanding you
today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to
keep His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live and increase, and the LORD your God may
bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way
heretofore.
But
keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between
yourselves and the ark. Do not go near it, so that you can see the way to go, since you have never traveled this way before.”
But
keep away from the things devoted to destruction, lest you
yourself be set apart for destruction. If you take any of these, you will set apart the camp of Israel for destruction and bring
disaster upon it.
And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
So Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and post men there to guard them.
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
So Joshua took the entire land, in keeping with all that the LORD had spoken to Moses. And Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to the allotments to their tribes. Then the land had rest from war.
And they came near before
Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of
Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
They approached
Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of
Nun, and the leaders, and said, “The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers.” So Joshua gave them an inheritance among their father’s brothers, in
keeping with the command of the LORD.
But take
diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to
keep his commandments, and to
cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
But be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
Be ye therefore very
courageous to
keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside
therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
Be very strong, then, so that you can keep and obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, not turning aside from it to the right or to the left.
That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
In this way I will test whether Israel will keep the way of the LORD by walking in it as their fathers did.”
And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would
hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
These nations were left to test the Israelites, to find out whether they would keep the commandments of the LORD, which He had given their fathers through Moses.
But he himself turned again from the
quarries that were by
Gilgal, and said, I have a secret
errand unto thee, O king: who said,
Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
But upon reaching the idols near
Gilgal, he himself turned back and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” “Silence,” said the king, and all his attendants left him.
Her wise ladies answered her,
yea, she returned answer to herself,
Her wisest ladies answer; indeed she keeps telling herself,
And
Ruth the
Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt
keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
Then
Ruth the
Moabitess said, “He also told me, ‘Stay with my young men until they have finished gathering all my harvest.’”
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.
And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that
smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.
but
keep watching it. If it goes up the road to its homeland, toward Beth-shemesh, it is the LORD who has brought on us this great
disaster. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not His hand that punished us and that it happened by chance.”
And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and brought up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and
sanctified Eleazar his son to
keep the ark of the LORD.
Then the men of Kiriath-jearim came for the ark of the LORD and took it into Abinadab’s house on the hill. And they consecrated his son
Eleazar to guard the ark of the LORD.
And Samuel said unto
Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he
keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto
Jesse, Send and
fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come
hither.
And Samuel asked him, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,”
Jesse replied, “but he is tending the sheep.” “Send for him,” Samuel replied. “For we will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a
keeper, and took, and went, as
Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the
trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and
shouted for the battle.
So David got up early in the morning, left the flock with a
keeper, loaded up, and set out as
Jesse had
instructed him. He reached the camp as the army was marching out to its position and
shouting the battle cry.
And David left his carriage in the hand of the
keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and
saluted his brethren.
Then David left his supplies in the care of the
quartermaster and ran to the battle line. When he arrived, he asked his brothers how they were doing.
And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to
defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will
enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.
Now the men of Israel had been saying, “Do you see this man who
keeps coming out to
defy Israel? To the man who kills him the king will give great riches. And he will give him his daughter in marriage and
exempt his father’s house from taxation in Israel.”
They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
They were a wall around us, both day and night, the whole time we were
herding our sheep near them.
And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.
David replied, “Then you will come to know what your servant can do.” “Very well,” said Achish. “I will make you my
bodyguard for life.”
And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
“But what have I done?” David replied. “What have you found against your servant, from the day I came to you until
today, to
keep me from going along to fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
And he
smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to
keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
David also defeated the Moabites, made them lie down on the ground, and measured them off with a cord. He measured off with two lengths those to be put to death, and with one length those to be
spared. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.
And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, which were concubines, to keep the house.
Then the king set out, and his entire household followed him. But he left behind ten concubines to take care of the palace.
And
Ahithophel said unto
Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, which he hath left to
keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art
abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
Ahithophel replied, “Sleep with your father’s concubines, whom he has left to
keep the palace. When all Israel hears that you have become a
stench to your father, then the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.”
Now
Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a
pillar, which is in the king’s
dale: for he said, I have no son to
keep my name in
remembrance: and he called the
pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day,
Absalom’s place.
During his lifetime,
Absalom had set up for himself a
pillar in the King’s Valley, for he had said, “I have no son to preserve the memory of my name.” So he gave the
pillar his name, and to this day it is called
Absalom’s Monument.
For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet
didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?
For all the house of my
grandfather deserves death from my lord the king, yet you have set your servant among those who eat at your table. What further right, then, do I have to
keep appealing to the king?”
And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to
keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in
widowhood.
When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer
slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.
Now king David was old and
stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he
gat no heat.
Now King David was old and well along in years, and though they covered him with blankets, he could not keep warm.
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her
cherish him, and let her lie in thy
bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.
So his servants said to him, “Let us search for a young virgin for our lord the king, to attend to him and care for him and lie by his side to keep him warm.”
And
keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to
keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his
testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest
prosper in all that thou doest, and
whithersoever thou turnest
thyself:
And
keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in His ways and to
keep His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may
prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of
Gera, a
Benjamite of Bahurim, which
cursed me with a
grievous curse in the day when I went to
Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I
sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.
Keep an eye on Shimei the son of
Gera, the
Benjamite from Bahurim who is with you. He called down bitter curses against me on the day I went to
Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I
swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
And if thou
wilt walk in my ways, to
keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will
lengthen thy days.
So if you walk in My ways and
keep My statutes and commandments, just as your father David did, I will
prolong your days.”
Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou
wilt walk in my statutes, and
execute my judgments, and
keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
“As for this temple you are building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and
keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will
fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David.
And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
Therefore now, LORD God of Israel,
keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take
heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk before Me as you have done.’
That he may
incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to
keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.
May He
incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways and to
keep the commandments and statutes and ordinances He commanded our fathers.
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
So let your heart be fully devoted to the LORD our God, as it is this day, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments.”
And if thou
wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in
integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and
wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:
And as for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, with a heart of
integrity and uprightness, doing all I have commanded you, and if you
keep My statutes and ordinances,
But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:
But if indeed you or your sons turn away from following Me and do not keep the commandments and statutes I have set before you, and if you go off to serve and worship other gods,
And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.
Although He had
warned Solomon
explicitly not to follow other gods, Solomon did not
keep the LORD’s command.
Because that they have
forsaken me, and have worshipped
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of
Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to
keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
For they have
forsaken Me to worship
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the
Ammonites. They have not walked in My ways, nor done what is right in My eyes, nor kept My statutes and judgments, as Solomon’s father David did.
And it shall be, if thou
wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and
wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to
keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
If you
listen to all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight in order to
keep My statutes and commandments as My servant David did, then I will be with you. I will build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.
And
Ahab said unto
Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all
brooks:
peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
Then
Ahab said to
Obadiah, “Go throughout the land to every spring and every valley. Perhaps we will find grass to
keep the horses and mules alive so that we will not have to destroy any
livestock.”
And as the king passed by, he
cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said,
Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
As the king passed by, he
cried out to the king: “Your servant had marched out into the middle of the battle, when suddenly a man came over with a
captive and told me, ‘Guard this man! If he goes missing for any reason, your life will be exchanged for his life, or you will
weigh out a talent of silver.’
But
Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but
ere the
messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the
messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
Now
Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a
messenger ahead, but before he arrived,
Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the
messenger comes, shut the door to
keep him out. Is not the sound of his master’s footsteps behind him?”
And
Jehu said to the
keeper of the
wardrobe, “Bring out garments for all the servants of
Baal.” So he brought out garments for them.
And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;
and commanded them, “This is what you are to do: A third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath shall guard the royal palace,
