Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the
LORD in the company of
Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
“Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among the followers of
Korah who gathered together against the
LORD. Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.
And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
So Moses brought their case before the LORD,
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
and the LORD answered him,
And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his
kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the
LORD commanded Moses.
And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of
kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a
statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the
LORD has commanded Moses.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.
And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,
So Moses appealed to the LORD,
Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
“May the
LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh,
appoint a man over the congregation
Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the
LORD be not as sheep which have no
shepherd.
who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the
LORD will not be like sheep without a
shepherd.”
And the
LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of
Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
And the
LORD replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of
Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.
And he shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of
Urim before the
LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
He shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the
LORD by the judgment of the
Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”
And Moses did as the
LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before
Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
Moses did as the
LORD had commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand before
Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,
And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
and laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the
LORD had
instructed through Moses.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering.
And tell them that this is the offering made by fire you are to present to the
LORD as a regular burnt offering each day: two
unblemished year-old male lambs.
It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount
Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the
LORD.
This is a regular burnt offering established at Mount
Sinai as a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the
LORD.
And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an
hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the
LORD for a drink offering.
The drink offering accompanying each lamb shall be a quarter
hin. Pour out the offering of
fermented drink to the
LORD in the sanctuary area.
And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
And offer the second lamb at
twilight, with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning. It is an offering made by fire, a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD.
And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot;
At the beginning of every month, you are to present to the
LORD a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
and a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering with each lamb. This is a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the
LORD.
And one
kid of the goats for a sin offering unto the
LORD shall be offered, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
In addition to the regular burnt offering with its drink offering, one male goat is to be presented to the LORD as a sin offering.
But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the
LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without
blemish:
Present to the
LORD an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished.
After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
Offer the same food each day for seven days as an offering made by fire, a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD. It is to be offered with its drink offering and the regular burnt offering.
Also in the day of the firstfruits, when ye bring a new meat offering unto the
LORD, after your weeks be out, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no
servile work:
On the day of firstfruits, when you present an offering of new grain to the LORD during the Feast of Weeks, you are to hold a sacred assembly; you must not do any regular work.
But ye shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the LORD; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year;
Present a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old as a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD,
And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the
LORD; one young
bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD, you are to present a burnt offering of one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
Beside the burnt offering of the month, and his meat offering, and the daily burnt offering, and his meat offering, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner, for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
These are in addition to the monthly and daily burnt offerings with their prescribed grain offerings and drink offerings. They are a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the
LORD.
But ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the
LORD for a sweet savour; one young
bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without
blemish:
Present as a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD a burnt offering of one young bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
And on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no
servile work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the
LORD seven days:
On the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, you are to hold a sacred assembly; you must not do any regular work, and you shall observe a feast to the
LORD for seven days.
And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the
LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD, you are to present an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the
LORD: one
bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without
blemish:
As a pleasing
aroma to the
LORD, you are to present an offering made by fire, a burnt offering of one bull, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all
unblemished,
These things ye shall do unto the
LORD in your set feasts, beside your vows, and your
freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your meat offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.
You are to present these offerings to the
LORD at your appointed times, in addition to your
vow and
freewill offerings, whether burnt offerings, grain offerings, drink offerings, or peace offerings.”
And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the LORD commanded Moses.
So Moses spoke all this to the Israelites just as the LORD had commanded him.
And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded.
Then Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded:
If a man
vow a
vow unto the
LORD, or
swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
If a man makes a
vow to the
LORD or swears an oath to
obligate himself by a
pledge, he must not break his word; he must do everything he has promised.
If a woman also
vow a
vow unto the
LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
And if a woman in her father’s house during her youth makes a
vow to the
LORD or obligates herself by a
pledge,
But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds
wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the
LORD shall
forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
But if her father prohibits her on the day he hears about it, then none of the vows or pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand. The
LORD will
absolve her because her father has prohibited her.
But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her
vow which she
vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips,
wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the
LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband prohibits her when he hears of it, he nullifies the
vow that binds her or the
rash promise she has made, and the
LORD will
absolve her.
But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the
LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them, and the
LORD will
absolve her.
These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
And the LORD said to Moses,
And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of
yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and
avenge the
LORD of
Midian.
So Moses told the people, “Arm some of your men for war, that they may go against the Midianites and
execute the
LORD’s
vengeance on them.
And they
warred against the Midianites, as the
LORD commanded Moses; and they
slew all the males.
Then they
waged war against
Midian, as the
LORD had commanded Moses, and they killed every male.
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to commit
trespass against the
LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the
LORD.
“Look, these women caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of
Balaam, to turn unfaithfully against the
LORD at Peor, so that the plague struck the congregation of the
LORD.
And
Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the
ordinance of the law which the
LORD commanded Moses;
Then
Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle, “This is the statute of the law which the
LORD has commanded Moses:
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
The LORD said to Moses,
And
levy a tribute unto the
LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the
beeves, and of the
asses, and of the sheep:
Set aside a tribute for the
LORD from what belongs to the soldiers who went into battle: one out of every five hundred, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, or sheep.
Take it of their half, and give it unto
Eleazar the priest, for an
heave offering of the
LORD.
Take it from their half and give it to
Eleazar the priest as an offering to the
LORD.
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the
beeves, of the
asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the
LORD.
From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, sheep, or other animals, and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the
LORD.”
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest did as the
LORD commanded Moses.
So Moses and
Eleazar the priest did as the
LORD had commanded Moses,
And the
LORD’S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and
threescore and fifteen.
337,500 sheep, including a tribute to the LORD of 675,
And the
beeves were thirty and six thousand; of which the
LORD’S tribute was
threescore and twelve.
36,000 cattle, including a tribute to the LORD of 72,
And the
asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which the
LORD’S tribute was
threescore and one.
30,500
donkeys, including a tribute to the
LORD of 61,
And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the LORD’S tribute was thirty and two persons.
and 16,000 people, including a tribute to the LORD of 32.
And Moses gave the tribute, which was the
LORD’S
heave offering, unto
Eleazar the priest, as the
LORD commanded Moses.
Moses gave the tribute to
Eleazar the priest as an offering for the
LORD, as the
LORD had commanded Moses.
Even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
From the Israelites’ half, Moses took one out of every fifty persons and animals and gave them to the Levites who kept charge of the tabernacle of the LORD, as the LORD had commanded him.
We have therefore brought an
oblation for the
LORD, what every man hath
gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an
atonement for our souls before the
LORD.
So we have brought to the
LORD an offering of the gold articles each man acquired—armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces—to make
atonement for ourselves before the
LORD.”
And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.
All the gold that the commanders of thousands and of hundreds presented as an offering to the
LORD weighed 16,750 shekels.
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a
memorial for the children of Israel before the
LORD.
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the Tent of Meeting as a
memorial for the Israelites before the
LORD.
Even the country which the
LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
which the
LORD conquered before the congregation of Israel, are suitable for
livestock—and your servants have
livestock.”
And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?
Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land that the LORD has given them?
For when they went up unto the valley of
Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the
LORD had given them.
For when your fathers went up to the Valley of
Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land that the
LORD had given them.
And the
LORD’S anger was
kindled the same time, and he
sware, saying,
So the anger of the
LORD was
kindled that day, and He
swore an oath, saying,
Save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of
Nun: for they have wholly followed the
LORD.
not one except
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of
Nun—because they did follow the
LORD wholeheartedly.’
And the
LORD’S anger was
kindled against Israel, and he made them
wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the
LORD, was consumed.
The anger of the
LORD burned against Israel, and He made them
wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation who had done evil in His sight was gone.
And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’
stead, an increase of sinful men, to
augment yet the fierce anger of the
LORD toward Israel.
Now behold, you, a
brood of sinners, have risen up in place of your fathers to further
stoke the burning anger of the
LORD against Israel.
And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,
Moses replied, “If you will do this—if you will arm
yourselves before the
LORD for battle,
And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,
and if every one of your armed men crosses the Jordan before the LORD, until He has driven His enemies out before Him,
And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.
then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the LORD.
But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have
sinned against the
LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.
But if you do not do this, you will certainly sin against the
LORD—and be
assured that your sin will find you out.
And the children of
Gad and the children of
Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my
lord commandeth.
The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, “Your servants will do just as our lord commands.
But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.
But your servants are
equipped for war, and every man will cross over to the battle before the
LORD, just as our
lord says.”
And Moses said unto them, If the children of
Gad and the children of
Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the
LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of
Gilead for a possession:
And Moses said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites cross the Jordan with you, with every man armed for battle before the
LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you are to give them the land of
Gilead as a possession.
And the children of
Gad and the children of
Reuben answered, saying, As the
LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.
The Gadites and Reubenites replied, “As the LORD has spoken to your servants, so we will do.
We will pass over armed before the
LORD into the land of
Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
We will cross over into the land of
Canaan armed before the
LORD, that we may have our inheritance on this side of the Jordan.”
And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the LORD: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.
At the LORD’s command, Moses recorded the stages of their journey. These are the stages listed by their starting points:
For the Egyptians buried all their
firstborn, which the
LORD had
smitten among them: upon their gods also the
LORD executed judgments.
who were
burying all their
firstborn, whom the
LORD had struck down among them; for the
LORD had executed judgment against their gods.
And Aaron the priest went up into mount
Hor at the commandment of the
LORD, and died there, in the
fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.
At the
LORD’s command, Aaron the priest
climbed Mount
Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the
fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.
And the
LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho, saying,
On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from
Jericho, the
LORD said to Moses,
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall
inherit by lot, which the
LORD commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe:
So Moses commanded the Israelites, “
Apportion this land by lot as an inheritance. The
LORD has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half tribes.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
These are they whom the
LORD commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of
Canaan.
These are the ones whom the
LORD commanded to
apportion the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of
Canaan.
And the
LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho, saying,
Again the
LORD spoke to Moses on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from
Jericho:
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the
LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
Do not
defile the land where you live and where I dwell. For I, the
LORD, dwell among the Israelites.”
And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.
And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.
So at the word of the LORD, Moses commanded the Israelites: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks correctly.
This is the thing which the
LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
This is what the
LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry
anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.
Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
So the daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
These are the commandments and the judgments, which the
LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near
Jericho.
These are the commandments and ordinances that the
LORD gave the Israelites through Moses on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from
Jericho.
And it came to pass in the
fortieth year, in the
eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the
LORD had given him in commandment unto them;
In the
fortieth year, on the first day of the
eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the
LORD had commanded him concerning them.
The
LORD our God spake unto us in
Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
The
LORD our God said to us at
Horeb: “You have stayed at this mountain long enough.
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the
LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
See, I have placed the land before you. Enter and possess the land that the
LORD swore He would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants after them.”
The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
The
LORD your God has multiplied you, so that
today you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.
(The
LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and
bless you, as he hath promised you!)
May the
LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times over and
bless you as He has promised.
And when we departed from
Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the
Amorites, as the
LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
And just as the
LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from
Horeb and went toward the hill country of the
Amorites, through all the vast and
terrifying wilderness you have seen. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the
Amorites, which the
LORD our God
doth give unto us.
I said: “You have reached the hill country of the
Amorites, which the
LORD our God is giving us.
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the
LORD our God
doth give us.
They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands, carried it down to us, and brought us word: “It is a good land that the LORD our God is giving us.”
