Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
In that time shall the present be brought unto the
LORD of hosts of a people scattered and
peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have
spoiled, to the place of the name of the
LORD of hosts, the mount
Zion.
At that time gifts will be brought to the
LORD of Hosts— from a people tall and smooth-
skinned, from a people widely feared, from a powerful nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— to Mount
Zion, the place of the Name of the
LORD of Hosts.
The burden of Egypt. Behold, the
LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall
melt in the midst of it.
This is the burden against Egypt: Behold, the
LORD rides on a swift cloud; He is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt will
tremble before Him, and the hearts of the Egyptians will
melt within them.
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
I will deliver the Egyptians into the hands of harsh masters, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
Where are your wise men now? Let them tell you and
reveal what the
LORD of Hosts has
planned against Egypt.
The
LORD hath mingled a
perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to
err in every work thereof, as a
drunken man staggereth in his
vomit.
The
LORD has poured into her a spirit of confusion. Egypt has been led
astray in all she does, as a
drunkard staggers through his own
vomit.
In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the
shaking of the hand of the
LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.
In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will
tremble with fear beneath the
uplifted hand of the
LORD of Hosts, when He brandishes it against them.
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
The land of Judah will bring terror to Egypt; whenever Judah is mentioned, Egypt will
tremble over what the
LORD of Hosts has
planned against it.
In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of
Canaan, and
swear to the
LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of
Canaan and
swear allegiance to the
LORD of Hosts. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.
In that day shall there be an altar to the
LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a
pillar at the border thereof to the
LORD.
In that day there will be an altar to the
LORD in the center of the land of Egypt, and a
pillar to the
LORD near her border.
And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
It will be a sign and a witness to the
LORD of Hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the
LORD because of their oppressors, He will send them a
savior and defender to
rescue them.
And the
LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the
LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and
oblation;
yea, they shall
vow a
vow unto the
LORD, and perform it.
The
LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and on that day Egypt will acknowledge the
LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the
LORD and
fulfill them.
And the
LORD shall
smite Egypt: he shall
smite and
heal it: and they shall return even to the
LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall
heal them.
And the
LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; He will strike them but
heal them. They will turn to the
LORD, and He will hear their prayers and
heal them.
Whom the
LORD of hosts shall
bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
The
LORD of Hosts will
bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt My people, Assyria My
handiwork, and Israel My inheritance.”
At the same time spake the
LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the
sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy
shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and
barefoot.
the
LORD had already spoken through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, “Go, remove the
sackcloth from your
waist and the
sandals from your feet.” And Isaiah did so, walking around naked and
barefoot.
And the
LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and
barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon
Ethiopia;
Then the
LORD said, “Just as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and
barefoot for three years as a sign and
omen against Egypt and
Cush,
For thus hath the
Lord said unto me, Go, set a
watchman, let him declare what he
seeth.
For this is what the
Lord says to me: “Go, post a
lookout and have him report what he sees.
And he
cried, A lion: My
lord, I stand continually upon the
watchtower in the
daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
O my
threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the
LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
O my people,
crushed on the
threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the
LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel.
For thus hath the
Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an
hireling, and all the glory of
Kedar shall fail:
For this is what the
Lord says to me: “Within one year, as a
hired worker would count it, all the glory of
Kedar will be gone.
And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of
Kedar, shall be diminished: for the
LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.
The remaining archers, the warriors of
Kedar, will be few.” For the
LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
For it is a day of trouble, and of
treading down, and of
perplexity by the
Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
For the
Lord GOD of Hosts has set a day of
tumult and
trampling and confusion in the Valley of Vision— of breaking down the walls and crying to the mountains.
And it was revealed in mine ears by the
LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be
purged from you till ye die, saith the
Lord GOD of hosts.
The
LORD of Hosts has revealed in my hearing: “Until your dying day, this sin of yours will never be
atoned for,” says the
Lord GOD of Hosts.
Thus saith the
Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this
treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
This is what the
Lord GOD of Hosts says: “Go, say to Shebna, the
steward in charge of the palace:
Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
Look, O mighty man! The
LORD is about to
shake you violently. He will take hold of you,
He will surely violently turn and
toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the
chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy
lord’s house.
roll you into a ball, and
sling you into a wide land. There you will die, and there your glorious
chariots will remain—a disgrace to the house of your master.
In that day, saith the
LORD of hosts, shall the
nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the
LORD hath spoken it.
In that day, declares the
LORD of Hosts, the
peg driven into a firm place will give way; it will be
sheared off and fall, and the load upon it will be cut down.” Indeed, the
LORD has spoken.
The
LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to
stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
The
LORD of Hosts
planned it, to
defile all its glorious beauty, to disgrace all the
renowned of the earth.
He stretched out his hand over the sea, he
shook the kingdoms: the
LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
The
LORD has stretched out His hand over the sea; He has made kingdoms
tremble. He has given a command that the strongholds of
Canaan be destroyed.
And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the
LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her
hire, and shall commit
fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
And at the end of seventy years, the
LORD will restore Tyre. Then she will return to
hire as a
prostitute and sell herself to all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.
Yet her profits and wages will be set apart to the LORD; they will not be stored or saved, for her profit will go to those who live before the LORD, for abundant food and fine clothing.
Behold, the
LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it
upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
Behold, the
LORD lays waste the earth and leaves it in ruins. He will twist its surface and
scatter its inhabitants—
The land shall be utterly
emptied, and utterly
spoiled: for the
LORD hath spoken this word.
The earth will be utterly laid waste and thoroughly
plundered. For the
LORD has spoken this word.
They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the
LORD, they shall cry
aloud from the sea.
They raise their voices, they
shout for joy; from the west they
proclaim the majesty of the
LORD.
Wherefore
glorify ye the
LORD in the fires, even the name of the
LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
Therefore
glorify the
LORD in the east.
Extol the name of the
LORD, the God of Israel in the islands of the sea.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the
LORD shall
punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
In that day the
LORD will
punish the host of heaven above and the kings of the earth below.
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun
ashamed, when the
LORD of hosts shall reign in mount
Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
The moon will be confounded and the sun will be
ashamed; for the
LORD of Hosts will reign on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
O
LORD, thou art my God; I will
exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
O
LORD, You are my God! I will
exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders— plans formed long ago— in perfect faithfulness.
And in this mountain shall the
LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the
lees, of fat things full of
marrow, of wines on the
lees well refined.
On this mountain the
LORD of Hosts will prepare a
banquet for all the peoples, a feast of aged wine, of choice meat, of finely aged wine.
He will
swallow up death in victory; and the
Lord GOD will
wipe away tears from off all faces; and the
rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the
LORD hath spoken it.
He will
swallow up death
forever. The
Lord GOD will
wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the
LORD has spoken.
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the
LORD; we have waited for him, we will be
glad and
rejoice in his salvation.
And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the
LORD for whom we have waited. Let us
rejoice and be
glad in His salvation.”
For in this mountain shall the hand of the
LORD rest, and Moab shall be
trodden down under him, even as straw is
trodden down for the
dunghill.
For the hand of the
LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be
trampled in his place as straw is
trodden into the dung pile.
Trust ye in the
LORD for ever: for in the
LORD JEHOVAH is
everlasting strength:
Trust in the
LORD forever, because GOD the
LORD is the Rock eternal.
Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O
LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the
remembrance of thee.
Yes, we wait for You, O
LORD; we walk in the path of Your judgments. Your name and
renown are the desire of our souls.
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.
LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be
ashamed for their
envy at the people;
yea, the fire of thine enemies shall
devour them.
O
LORD, Your hand is upraised, but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will
consume them!
LORD, thou
wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
O LORD, You will establish peace for us. For all that we have accomplished, You have done for us.
O LORD our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
O
LORD our God, other
lords besides You have had dominion, but Your name alone do we
confess.
Thou hast increased the nation, O
LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art
glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.
You have enlarged the nation, O
LORD; You have enlarged the nation. You have gained glory for
Yourself; You have extended all the borders of the land.
LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy
chastening was upon them.
O LORD, they sought You in their distress; when You disciplined them, they poured out a quiet prayer.
Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her
delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O
LORD.
As a woman with child about to give birth writhes and
cries out in pain, so were we in Your presence, O
LORD.
For, behold, the
LORD cometh out of his place to
punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
For behold, the
LORD is coming out of His dwelling to
punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will
reveal her
bloodshed and will no longer
conceal her slain.
I the
LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any
hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
I, the
LORD, am its keeper; I water it continually. I guard it night and day so no one can
disturb it;
Hath he
smitten him, as he
smote those that
smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?
Has the LORD struck Israel as He struck her oppressors? Was she killed like those who slayed her?
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.
In that day the
LORD will
thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, O Israelites, will be gathered one by one.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great
trumpet shall be
blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the
LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
And in that day a great ram’s horn will sound, and those who were perishing in Assyria will come forth with those who were exiles in Egypt. And they will worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Behold, the
Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a
tempest of
hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
Behold, the
Lord has one who is strong and mighty. Like a
hailstorm or destructive
tempest, like a driving rain or flooding
downpour, he will
smash that crown to the ground.
In that day shall the
LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a
diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
On that day the
LORD of Hosts will be a crown of glory, a
diadem of
splendor to the
remnant of His people,
But the word of the
LORD was unto them
precept upon
precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and
snared, and taken.
Then the word of the
LORD to them will become: “Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line; a little here, a little there,” so that they will go
stumbling backward and will be injured, ensnared, and captured.
Wherefore hear the word of the
LORD, ye
scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
Therefore hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.
Therefore thus saith the
Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in
Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make
haste.
So this is what the
Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in
Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be
shaken.
For the
LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be
wroth as in the valley of
Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
For the
LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim. He will
rouse Himself as in the Valley of
Gibeon, to do His work, His strange work, and to perform His task, His
disturbing task.
Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
So now, do not
mock, or your
shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the
Lord GOD of Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole land.
This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
This also comes from the LORD of Hosts, who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has shut your eyes, O prophets; He has covered your heads, O seers.
Wherefore the
Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
Therefore the Lord said: “These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.
Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the
LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who
seeth us? and who knoweth us?
Woe to those who
dig deep to hide their plans from the
LORD. In darkness they do their works and say, “Who sees us, and who will know?”
The
meek also shall increase their joy in the
LORD, and the poor among men shall
rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
The humble will increase their joy in the
LORD, and the poor among men will
rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore thus saith the
LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be
ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
Therefore the
LORD who redeemed Abraham says of the house of Jacob: “No longer will Jacob be
ashamed and no more will his face grow pale.
Woe to the
rebellious children, saith the
LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
“
Woe to the
rebellious children,” declares the
LORD, “to those who carry out a plan that is not Mine, who form an alliance, but against My will,
heaping up sin upon sin.
That this is a
rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the
LORD:
These are
rebellious people,
deceitful children, children unwilling to obey the
LORD’s instruction.
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
For the
Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By
repentance and rest you would be saved; your strength would lie in quiet confidence— but you were not willing.”
And therefore will the
LORD wait, that he may be
gracious unto you, and therefore will he be
exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the
LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
Therefore the
LORD longs to be
gracious to you; therefore He rises to show you
compassion, for the
LORD is a just God. Blessed are all who wait for Him.
And though the
Lord give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
The
Lord will give you the bread of
adversity and the water of
affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.
Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be
sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the
LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
The light of the moon will be as bright as the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter—like the light of seven days—on the day that the LORD binds up the brokenness of His people and heals the wounds He has inflicted.
Behold, the name of the
LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of
indignation, and his tongue as a
devouring fire:
Behold, the Name of the
LORD comes from
afar, with burning anger and dense smoke. His lips are full of
fury, and His tongue is like a
consuming fire.
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy
solemnity is kept; and
gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the
LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
You will sing as on the night of a holy festival, and your heart will
rejoice like one who walks to the music of a
flute, going up to the mountain of the
LORD, to the Rock of Israel.
And the
LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall
shew the lighting down of his arm, with the
indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a
devouring fire, with
scattering, and
tempest, and hailstones.
And the
LORD will cause His
majestic voice to be heard and His mighty arm to be revealed, striking in
angry wrath with a flame of
consuming fire, and with cloudburst, storm, and hailstones.
For through the voice of the
LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which
smote with a rod.
For Assyria will be
shattered at the voice of the
LORD; He will strike them with His
scepter.
And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the
LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of
shaking will he fight with it.
And with every stroke of the rod of punishment that the
LORD brings down on them, the tambourines and lyres will sound as He battles with weapons
brandished.
For
Tophet is ordained of old;
yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the
LORD, like a stream of
brimstone,
doth kindle it.
For Topheth has long been prepared; it has been made ready for the king. Its funeral
pyre is deep and wide, with
plenty of fire and wood. The breath of the
LORD, like a
torrent of burning sulfur, sets it
ablaze.
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in
chariots, because they are many; and in
horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the
LORD!
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who
rely on horses, who trust in their abundance of
chariots and in their multitude of
horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel; they do not seek the
LORD.
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the
LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is
holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
But the Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the
LORD stretches out His hand, the helper will
stumble, and the one he helps will fall; both will perish together.
For thus hath the
LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion
roaring on his prey, when a multitude of
shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor
abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the
LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount
Zion, and for the hill thereof.
For this is what the
LORD has said to me: “Like a lion
roaring or a young lion over its prey— and though a band of
shepherds is called out against it, it is not
terrified by their
shouting or subdued by their
clamor— so the
LORD of Hosts will come down to do battle on Mount
Zion and its heights.
As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.
Like birds
hovering overhead, so the
LORD of Hosts will protect Jerusalem. He will shield it and deliver it; He will pass over it and preserve it.”
And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the
ensign, saith the
LORD, whose fire is in
Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Their rock will pass away for fear, and their princes will
panic at the sight of the battle standard,” declares the
LORD, whose fire is in
Zion, whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
For the
vile person will speak
villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to
practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the
LORD, to make empty the soul of the
hungry, and he will cause the drink of the
thirsty to fail.
O
LORD, be
gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
O
LORD, be
gracious to us! We wait for You. Be our strength every morning and our salvation in time of trouble.
The
LORD is
exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled
Zion with judgment and righteousness.
The
LORD is
exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled
Zion with justice and righteousness.
And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the
LORD is his
treasure.
He will be the sure foundation for your times, a
storehouse of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the
LORD is
Zion’s
treasure.
Now will I rise, saith the
LORD; now will I be
exalted; now will I lift up myself.
“Now I will arise,” says the
LORD. “Now I will lift Myself up. Now I will be
exalted.
But there the glorious
LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no
galley with oars, neither shall
gallant ship pass thereby.
But there the
Majestic One, our
LORD, will be for us a place of rivers and wide canals, where no
galley with oars will row, and no
majestic vessel will pass.
For the
LORD is our judge, the
LORD is our
lawgiver, the
LORD is our king; he will save us.
For the
LORD is our Judge, the
LORD is our
lawgiver, the
LORD is our King. It is He who will save us.
For the
indignation of the
LORD is upon all nations, and his
fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
The
LORD is
angry with all the nations and
furious with all their armies. He will
devote them to destruction; He will give them over to slaughter.
The sword of the
LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams: for the
LORD hath a sacrifice in
Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of
Idumea.
The sword of the
LORD is bathed in blood. It drips with fat— with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the
kidneys of rams. For the
LORD has a sacrifice in
Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of
Edom.
For it is the day of the
LORD’S
vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of
Zion.
But the
cormorant and the
bittern shall possess it; the
owl also and the
raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of
emptiness.
The desert
owl and
screech owl will possess it, and the great
owl and
raven will dwell in it. The
LORD will stretch out over
Edom a measuring line of
chaos and a
plumb line of destruction.
Seek ye out of the book of the
LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her
mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
Search and read the
scroll of the
LORD: Not one of these will go missing, not one will lack her
mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will gather them by His Spirit.
