Hear, all ye people;
hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the
Lord GOD be witness against you, the
Lord from his holy temple.
Hear, O peoples, all of you;
listen, O earth, and
everyone in it! May the
Lord GOD bear witness against you, the
Lord from His holy temple.
For, behold, the
LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and
tread upon the high places of the earth.
For behold, the
LORD comes forth from His dwelling place; He will come down and
tread on the high places of the earth.
For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.
For the dwellers of Maroth pined for good, but
calamity came down from the
LORD, even to the gate of Jerusalem.
Therefore thus saith the
LORD; Behold, against this family do I
devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go
haughtily: for this time is evil.
Therefore this is what the
LORD says: “I am
planning against this nation a
disaster from which you cannot free your necks. Then you will not walk so proudly, for it will be a time of
calamity.
Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the LORD.
Therefore, you will have no one in the assembly of the LORD to divide the land by lot.
O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the
LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of the LORD impatient? Are these the things He does?” Do not My words bring good to him who walks uprightly?
The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate, and go out by it. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD as their leader.
Then shall they cry unto the
LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have
behaved themselves ill in their doings.
Then they will cry out to the LORD, but He will not answer them. At that time He will hide His face from them because of the evil they have done.
Thus saith the
LORD concerning the prophets that make my people
err, that
bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
This is what the
LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead My people
astray, who
proclaim peace while they
chew with their teeth, but declare war against one who puts nothing in their mouths:
But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the
LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his
transgression, and to Israel his sin.
As for me, however, I am filled with power by the Spirit of the
LORD, with justice and courage, to declare to Jacob his
transgression and to Israel his sin.
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for
hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they
lean upon the
LORD, and say, Is not the
LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.
Her leaders judge for a
bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets practice
divination for money. Yet they
lean upon the
LORD, saying, “Is not the
LORD among us? No
disaster can come upon us.”
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the
LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be
exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.
And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the
LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of
Zion, and the word of the
LORD from Jerusalem.
And many nations will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the
LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from
Zion and the word of the
LORD from Jerusalem.
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
And each man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, with no one to
frighten him. For the mouth of the
LORD of Hosts has spoken.
For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
Though each of the peoples may walk in the name of his god, yet we will walk in the name of the
LORD our God
forever and ever.
In that day, saith the
LORD, will I
assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have
afflicted;
“On that day,” declares the
LORD, “I will gather the
lame; I will
assemble the outcast, even those whom I have
afflicted.
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the
LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the
LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of
Zion, like a woman in
travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the
LORD shall
redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
Writhe in
agony, O Daughter of
Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will leave the city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be
rescued; there the
LORD will
redeem you from the hand of your enemies!
But they know not the thoughts of the
LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the
sheaves into the floor.
But they do not know the thoughts of the
LORD or understand His plan, for He has gathered them like
sheaves to the
threshing floor.
Arise and
thresh, O daughter of
Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy
hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will
consecrate their gain unto the
LORD, and their substance unto the
Lord of the whole earth.
Rise and
thresh, O Daughter of
Zion, for I will give you horns of iron and
hooves of bronze to break to pieces many peoples. Then you will
devote their gain to the
LORD, their wealth to the
Lord of all the earth.
And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the
LORD, in the majesty of the name of the
LORD his God; and they shall
abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
He will stand and
shepherd His flock in the strength of the
LORD, in the
majestic name of the
LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a
dew from the
LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like
dew from the
LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man or
linger for mankind.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the
LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy
chariots:
“In that day,” declares the
LORD, “I will remove your horses from among you and
wreck your
chariots.
Hear ye now what the
LORD saith; Arise,
contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
Hear now what the
LORD says: “Arise,
plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.
Hear ye, O mountains, the
LORD’S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the
LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will
plead with Israel.
Hear, O mountains, the
LORD’s
indictment, you
enduring foundations of the earth. For the
LORD has a case against His people, and He will
argue it against Israel:
O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what
Balaam the son of Beor answered him from
Shittim unto
Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the
LORD.
My people, remember what Balak king of Moab counseled and what
Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from
Shittim to
Gilgal, so that you may acknowledge the righteousness of the
LORD.’”
Wherewith shall I come before the
LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with
calves of a year old?
With what shall I come before the
LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to Him with burnt offerings, with year-old
calves?
Will the
LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my
firstborn for my
transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Would the
LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my
firstborn for my
transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what
doth the
LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk
humbly with thy God?
He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the
LORD require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk
humbly with your God?
The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
The voice of the
LORD calls out to the city (and it is sound wisdom to fear Your name): “
Heed the rod and the One who ordained it.
Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the
LORD shall be a light unto me.
Do not
gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the
LORD will be my light.
I will bear the
indignation of the
LORD, because I have
sinned against him, until he
plead my cause, and
execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
Because I have
sinned against Him, I must
endure the
rage of the
LORD, until He argues my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see His righteousness.
Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the
LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be
trodden down as the
mire of the streets.
Then my enemy will see and will be covered with shame— she who said to me, “Where is the
LORD your God?” My eyes will see her; at that time she will be
trampled like mud in the streets.
They shall
lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the
LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.
They will
lick the dust like a
snake, like reptiles slithering on the ground. They will
crawl from their holes in the presence of the
LORD our God; they will
tremble in fear of You.
The
LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all
acquit the wicked: the
LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The
LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the
LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
The
LORD is good, a
stronghold in the day of distress; He cares for those who trust in Him.
What do ye imagine against the
LORD? he will make an utter end:
affliction shall not rise up the second time.
Whatever you plot against the
LORD, He will bring to an end.
Affliction will not rise up a second time.
There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
Thus saith the
LORD: Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have
afflicted thee, I will
afflict thee no more.
This is what the
LORD says: “Though they are allied and numerous, yet they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have
afflicted you, O Judah, I will
afflict you no longer.
And the
LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the
graven image and the
molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art
vile.
The
LORD has issued a command concerning you, O
Nineveh: “There will be no descendants to carry on your name. I will cut off the carved image and cast
idol from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.”
For the
LORD will restore the
splendor of Jacob like the
splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and ruined the branches of their vine.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the
LORD of hosts, and I will burn her
chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall
devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the
LORD of Hosts. “I will send your
chariots up in smoke, and the sword will
devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
Behold, I am against thee, saith the
LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will
shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show your nakedness to the nations and your shame to the kingdoms.
O
LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou
wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou
wilt not save!
How long, O LORD, must I call for help but You do not hear, or cry out to You, “Violence!” but You do not save?
Art thou not from
everlasting, O
LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O
LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
Are You not from
everlasting, O
LORD, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O
LORD, You have appointed them to
execute judgment; O Rock, You have established them for correction.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Then the
LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly
inscribe it on tablets, so that a
herald may run with it.
Behold, is it not of the
LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall
weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not indeed from the
LORD of Hosts that the labor of the people only feeds the fire, and the nations
weary themselves in vain?
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy
foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the
LORD’S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful
spewing shall be on thy glory.
You will be filled with shame instead of glory. You too must drink and
expose your
uncircumcision! The cup in the
LORD’s right hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will cover your glory.
But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
But the LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.
O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
O
LORD, I have heard the report of You; I stand in
awe, O
LORD, of Your deeds. Revive them in these years; make them known in these years. In Your wrath, remember mercy!
Was the
LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou
didst ride upon thine horses and thy
chariots of salvation?
Were You
angry at the rivers, O
LORD? Was Your wrath against the streams? Did You
rage against the sea when You
rode on Your horses, on Your
chariots of salvation?
Yet I will
rejoice in the
LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
yet I will
exult in the
LORD; I will
rejoice in the God of my salvation!
The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk upon the heights! For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments.
The word of the
LORD which came unto
Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of
Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
This is the word of the
LORD that came to
Zephaniah son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of
Hezekiah, in the days of
Josiah son of Amon king of Judah:
I will utterly
consume all things from off the land, saith the
LORD.
“I will completely
sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the
LORD.
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the
LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked worshipers. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the
LORD.
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that
swear by the
LORD, and that
swear by Malcham;
those who bow on the rooftops to worship the host of heaven, those who bow down and
swear by the
LORD but also
swear by Milcom,
And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.
and those who turn back from following the LORD, neither seeking the LORD nor inquiring of Him.”
Hold thy peace at the presence of the
Lord GOD: for the day of the
LORD is at hand: for the
LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath
bid his guests.
Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD, for the Day of the LORD is near. Indeed, the LORD has prepared a sacrifice; He has consecrated His guests.
And it shall come to pass in the day of the
LORD’S sacrifice, that I will
punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange
apparel.
“On the Day of the
LORD’s sacrifice I will
punish the princes, the sons of the king, and all who are dressed in foreign
apparel.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the
LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an
howling from the second, and a great
crashing from the hills.
On that day,” declares the
LORD, “a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, a
wail from the Second District, and a loud
crashing from the hills.
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and
punish the men that are settled on their
lees: that say in their heart, The
LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and
punish the men settled in
complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The
LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
The great Day of the
LORD is near— near and coming quickly.
Listen, the Day of the
LORD! Then the cry of the mighty will be bitter.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have
sinned against the
LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
I will bring such distress on mankind that they will walk like the blind, because they have
sinned against the
LORD. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the
LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be
devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a
speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the Day of the LORD’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy.” For indeed, He will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth.
Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the
chaff, before the fierce anger of the
LORD come upon you, before the day of the
LORD’S anger come upon you.
before the decree takes effect and the day passes like
chaff, before the burning anger of the
LORD comes upon you, before the Day of the
LORD’s anger comes upon you.
Seek ye the
LORD, all ye
meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek
meekness: it may be ye shall be
hid in the day of the
LORD’S anger.
Seek the
LORD, all you humble of the earth who carry out His justice. Seek righteousness; seek
humility. Perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the
LORD’s anger.
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the
LORD is against you; O
Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Woe to the dwellers of the
seacoast, O nation of the Cherethites! The word of the
LORD is against you, O
Canaan, land of the Philistines: “I will destroy you, and no one will be left.”
And the coast shall be for the
remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed
thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the
LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
The coast will belong to the
remnant of the house of Judah; there they will find pasture. They will lie down in the evening among the houses of Ashkelon, for the
LORD their God will attend to them and restore their
captives.
Therefore as I live, saith the
LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the
LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and
magnified themselves against the people of the
LORD of hosts.
This they shall have in return for their pride, for
taunting and
mocking the people of the
LORD of Hosts.
The
LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will
famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
The
LORD will be
terrifying to them when He starves all the gods of the earth. Then the nations of every shore will bow in worship to Him, each in its own place.
She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
She
heeded no voice; she accepted no correction. She does not trust in the
LORD; she has not drawn near to her God.
The just
LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning
doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
The
LORD within her is righteous; He does no wrong. He applies His justice morning by morning; He does not fail at
dawn, yet the unjust know no shame.
Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the
LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may
assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine
indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be
devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Therefore wait for Me,” declares the
LORD, “until the day I rise to
testify. For My decision is to gather nations, to
assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them My
indignation— all My burning anger. For all the earth will be consumed by the fire of My jealousy.
For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
For then I will restore pure lips to the peoples, that all may call upon the name of the LORD and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.
I will also leave in the midst of thee an
afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the
LORD.
But I will leave within you a
meek and humble people, and they will trust in the name of the
LORD.
The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
The
LORD has taken away your punishment; He has turned back your enemy. Israel’s King, the
LORD, is among you; no longer will you fear any
harm.
The
LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will
rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
The
LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will
rejoice over you with
gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will
rejoice over you with singing.”
At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.
At that time I will bring you in;
yes, at that time I will gather you. For I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your
captives before your very eyes,” says the
LORD.
In the second year of
Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the
LORD by
Haggai the prophet unto
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
In the second year of the reign of
Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the
LORD came through
Haggai the prophet to
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, stating
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.
that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’”
Then came the word of the
LORD by
Haggai the prophet, saying,
Then the word of the
LORD came through
Haggai the prophet, saying:
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be
glorified, saith the
LORD.
Go up into the hills, bring down
lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be
glorified, says the
LORD.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the
LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his own house.
Then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the
LORD their God, and the words of
Haggai the prophet, as the
LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the
LORD.
Then
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the
LORD their God and the words of the prophet
Haggai, because the
LORD their God had sent him. So the people feared the
LORD.
Then spake
Haggai the
LORD’S
messenger in the
LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the
LORD.
Haggai, the
messenger of the
LORD, delivered the message of the
LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the
LORD.
And the
LORD stirred up the spirit of
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the
remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the
LORD of hosts, their God,
So the
LORD stirred the spirit of
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as the spirit of all the
remnant of the people. And they came and began the work on the house of the
LORD of Hosts, their God,
In the seventh month, in the one and
twentieth day of the month, came the word of the
LORD by the prophet
Haggai, saying,
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the
LORD came through
Haggai the prophet, saying:
Yet now be strong, O
Zerubbabel, saith the
LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the
LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the
LORD of hosts:
But now be strong, O
Zerubbabel, declares the
LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the
LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the
LORD of Hosts.
For thus saith the
LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will

LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will
shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
And I will
shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the
LORD of hosts.
I will
shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the
LORD of Hosts.
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
