Howbeit every nation
made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the
Samaritans had
made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
And the men of Babylon
made Succoth-benoth, and the men of
Cuth made Nergal, and the men of
Hamath made Ashima,
The men of Babylon
made Succoth-benoth, the men of
Cuth made Nergal, the men of
Hamath made Ashima,
And the Avites
made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to
Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of
Sepharvaim.
the Avvites
made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to
Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of
Sepharvaim.
So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
With whom the LORD had
made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow
yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, “Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
And the covenant that I have
made with you ye shall not
forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.
Do not
forget the covenant I have
made with you. Do not worship other gods,
He removed the high places, and
brake the images, and cut down the groves, and
brake in pieces the
brasen serpent that Moses had
made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it
Nehushtan.
He removed the high places,
shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He also
demolished the bronze
snake called
Nehushtan that Moses had
made, for up to that time the Israelites had burned incense to it.
And
Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast
made heaven and earth.
And
Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the
cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You
made the heavens and the earth.
And the rest of the acts of
Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he
made a
pool, and a
conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
As for the rest of the acts of
Hezekiah, along with all his might and how he constructed the
pool and the
tunnel to bring water into the city, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
For he built up again the high places which
Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for
Baal, and
made a
grove, as did
Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
For he rebuilt the high places that his father
Hezekiah had destroyed, and he raised up altars for
Baal. He
made an Asherah pole, as King
Ahab of Israel had done, and he worshiped and served all the host of heaven.
And he
made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced
sorcery and
divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to anger.
And he set a
graven image of the
grove that he had
made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had
made and set it up in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
Because
Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the
Amorites did, which were before him, and hath
made Judah also to sin with his idols:
“Since
Manasseh king of Judah has committed all these abominations, acting more wickedly than the
Amorites who preceded him, and with his idols has caused Judah to sin,
Moreover
Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin
wherewith he
made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Moreover,
Manasseh shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end, in addition to the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, doing evil in the sight of the LORD.
And the people of the land
slew all them that had
conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land
made Josiah his son king in his
stead.
But the people of the land killed all those who had
conspired against King Amon, and they
made his son
Josiah king in his place.
Howbeit there was no
reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
But they need not account for the money put into their hands, since they work with
integrity.”
And the king stood by a
pillar, and
made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his
testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
So the king stood by the
pillar and
made a covenant before the LORD to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments, decrees, and statutes with all his heart and all his soul, and to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the covenant.
And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were
made for
Baal, and for the
grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto
Bethel.
Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests second in rank, and the doorkeepers to remove from the temple of the LORD all the articles
made for
Baal, Asherah, and all the host of heaven. And he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron and carried their ashes to
Bethel.
And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of
Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had
made, and the altars which
Manasseh had
made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and
brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the
brook Kidron.
He pulled down the altars that the kings of Judah had set up on the roof near the upper chamber of
Ahaz, and the altars that
Manasseh had set up in the two courtyards of the house of the LORD. The king
pulverized them there and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.
Moreover the altar that was at
Bethel, and the high place which
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who
made Israel to sin, had
made, both that altar and the high place he
brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the
grove.
He even pulled down the altar at
Bethel, the high place set up by
Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin. Then he burned the high place, ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole.
And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had
made to
provoke the LORD to anger,
Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in
Bethel.
Just as
Josiah had done at
Bethel, so also in the cities of Samaria he removed all the shrines of the high places set up by the kings of Israel who had
provoked the LORD to anger.
From
Megiddo his servants carried his body in a
chariot, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. Then the people of the land took
Jehoahaz son of
Josiah,
anointed him, and
made him king in place of his father.
And Pharaoh-nechoh
made Eliakim the son of
Josiah king in the room of
Josiah his father, and turned his name to
Jehoiakim, and took
Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
Then Pharaoh Neco
made Eliakim son of
Josiah king in place of his father
Josiah, and he changed Eliakim’s name to
Jehoiakim. But Neco took
Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt, where he died.
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
As the LORD had declared,
Nebuchadnezzar also carried off all the treasures from the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had
made in the temple of the LORD.
And the king of Babylon
made Mattaniah his father’s brother king in his
stead, and changed his name to
Zedekiah.
Then the king of Babylon
made Mattaniah,
Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to
Zedekiah.
And the firepans, and the
bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
The captain of the guard also took away the censers and
sprinkling bowls—anything
made of pure gold or fine silver.
The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, and the movable stands that Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he
made Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon appointed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, over the people he had left behind in the land of Judah.
And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had
made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to
Mizpah, even
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
When all the commanders of the armies and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah as governor, they came to Gedaliah at
Mizpah—
Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maacathite, as well as their men.
She bare also Shaaph the father of
Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah, and the father of Gibea: and the daughter of
Caleb was Achsa.
She was also the mother of Shaaph father of
Madmannah, and of Sheva father of Machbenah and Gibea.
Caleb’s daughter was Acsah.
And in the days of Saul they
made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of
Gilead.
During the days of Saul they
waged war against the Hagrites, who were defeated at their hands, and they occupied the homes of the Hagrites throughout the region east of
Gilead.
And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
They
waged war against the Hagrites, as well as Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab.
And some of the sons of the priests
made the
ointment of the spices.
And some of the sons of the priests mixed the spices.
And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the
firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were
made in the pans.
A
Levite named Mattithiah, the
firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with
baking the bread.
Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to
Hebron; and David
made a covenant with them in
Hebron before the LORD; and they
anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king at
Hebron, where David
made a covenant with them before the LORD. And they
anointed him king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD through Samuel.
Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of
Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and
made them captains of the band.
Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the chief of the Thirty, and he said: “We are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of
Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers, for your God helps you.” So David received them and
made them leaders of his troops.
And David was displeased, because the LORD had
made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called
Perez-uzza to this day.
Then David became
angry because the LORD had
burst forth against Uzzah; so he named that place
Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.
And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
When David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
Asaph the chief, and next to him
Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-
edom: and Jeiel with
psalteries and with harps; but
Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
Asaph was the chief,
Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-
edom, and Jeiel. They were to play the harps and lyres, while
Asaph sounded the cymbals
Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
the covenant He
made with Abraham, and the oath He
swore to Isaac.
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
And I have been with thee
whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have
made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to
redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to
redeem as a people for Himself? You
made a name for
Yourself through great and
awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
For thy people Israel
didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
For You have
made Your people Israel Your very own
forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David
whithersoever he went.
Then he placed garrisons in
Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD
made David victorious wherever he went.
Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass,
wherewith Solomon
made the
brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
And from Tibhath and
Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a large amount of bronze, with which Solomon
made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles.
And he put garrisons in
Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the LORD preserved David
whithersoever he went.
He placed garrisons in
Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD
made David victorious wherever he went.
And when the children of
Ammon saw that they had
made themselves
odious to David, Hanun and the children of
Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to
hire them
chariots and
horsemen out of
Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they
made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of
Ammon any more.
When Hadadezer’s subjects saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they
made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the
Ammonites anymore.
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses
made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at
Gibeon.
For the tabernacle of the LORD that Moses had
made in the wilderness and the altar of burnt offering were presently at the high place in
Gibeon,
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding
magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
And David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent—famous and glorious throughout all lands. Therefore I must make preparations for it.” So David
made lavish preparations before his death.
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
but this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and
waged great wars. You are not to build a house for My Name because you have shed so much blood on the ground before Me.
So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
When David was old and full of years, he
installed his son Solomon as king over Israel.
Moreover four thousand were
porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I
made, said David, to praise
therewith.
4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments I have made for giving praise.”
Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the
firstborn, yet his father
made him the chief;)
Hosah the Merarite also had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the
firstborn, his father had appointed him as the first),
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David
made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had
made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had
made preparations to build it,
All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern.
“All this,” said David, “all the details of this plan, the LORD has made clear to me in writing by His hand upon me.”
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be
made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood;
onyx stones, and stones to be set,
glistering stones, and of
divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
Now with all my ability I have
made provision for the house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as
onyx for the settings,
turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble—all in abundance.
The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be
made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to
consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?
And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy
testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have
made provision.
And give my son Solomon a whole heart to keep and carry out all Your commandments, decrees, and statutes, and to build Your palace for which I have made provision.”
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great
gladness. And they
made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and
anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and
Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and
drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and
Zadok as the priest.
So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at
Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had
made in the wilderness.
And Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at
Gibeon because it was the
location of God’s Tent of Meeting, which Moses the servant of the LORD had
made in the wilderness.
Moreover the
brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of
Uri, the son of Hur, had
made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
But the bronze altar
made by Bezalel son of
Uri, the son of Hur, was in
Gibeon before the tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the assembly inquired of Him there.
And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast
made me to reign in his
stead.
Solomon replied to God: “You have shown much loving devotion to my father David, and You have made me king in his place.
Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
Now, O LORD God, let Your promise to my father David be fulfilled. For You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for
thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have
made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to
govern My people over whom I have
made you king—
And the king
made silver and gold at Jerusalem as
plenteous as stones, and
cedar trees
made he as the sycomore trees that are in the
vale for abundance.
The king
made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the foothills.
Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
Then
Hiram king of Tyre wrote a letter in reply to Solomon: “Because the LORD loves His people, He has set you over them as king.”
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that
made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who
made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
And he set
threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and
fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
Solomon
made 70,000 of them
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains, and 3,600 supervisors.
And he
made the most holy house, the length
whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of fine gold.
And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.
In the Most Holy Place he
made two
cherubim of sculptured work, and he overlaid them with gold.
And he
made the
vail of blue, and purple, and
crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims
thereon.
Also he
made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the
chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
And he
made chains, as in the
oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and
made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.
He
made interwoven chains and put them on top of the pillars. He
made a hundred pomegranates and fastened them into the
chainwork.
Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.
He made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.
Also he
made a
molten sea of ten cubits from
brim to
brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
He also
made the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from
rim to
rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference.
He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.
He also
made ten basins for washing and placed five on the south side and five on the north. The parts of the burnt offering were
rinsed in them, but the priests used the Sea for washing.
And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.
He made ten gold lampstands according to their specifications and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north.
He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.
Additionally, he
made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north. He also
made a hundred gold
bowls.
Furthermore he
made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors of them with brass.
He
made the
courtyard of the priests and the large court with its doors, and he overlaid the doors with bronze.
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
Additionally, Huram
made the pots, shovels, and
sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished the work that he had undertaken for King Solomon in the house of God:
He made also bases, and lavers made he upon the bases;
the stands; the basins on the stands;
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles. All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.
Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.
Solomon made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze could not be determined.
And Solomon
made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables
whereon the
shewbread was set;
Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God: the golden altar; the tables on which was placed the Bread of the Presence;
And the flowers, and the lamps, and the
tongs,
made he of gold, and that perfect gold;
the flowers, lamps, and
tongs of gold—of purest gold;
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
So all the work that Solomon had performed for the house of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the items his father David had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the
treasuries of the house of God.
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at
Horeb, when the LORD
made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where the LORD had
made a covenant with the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.
And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel.
And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with the children of Israel.”
For Solomon had
made a
brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and
kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
Now Solomon had
made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had placed it in the middle of the
courtyard. He stood on it,
knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be
made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Now, my God, let, I
beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be
attent unto the prayer that is
made in this place.
Now, my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears
attentive to the prayer offered in this place.
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had
made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded
trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
The priests stood at their posts, as did the Levites with the musical instruments of the LORD, which King David had
made for giving
thanks to the LORD and with which David had offered praise, saying, “For His loving devotion endures
forever.” Across from the Levites, the priests sounded
trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.
Moreover Solomon
hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the
brasen altar which Solomon had
made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the
courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar he had
made could not contain all these offerings.
