livestock in the field—on your horses,
donkeys, camels, herds, and flocks.

murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye
murmur against us?
and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has heard your
grumbling against Him. For who are we that you should
grumble against us?”
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your
murmurings which ye
murmur against him: and what are we? your
murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

thirsted there for water; and the people
murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with
thirst?
But the people
thirsted for water there, and they grumbled against Moses: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt—to make us and our children and
livestock die of
thirst?”

murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

murmur against me.

grumble against Me? I have heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.
Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have
murmured against me,
Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census,
everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.

murmur against him, by bringing up a
slander upon the land,

spy out the land, who had returned and made the whole congregation
grumble against him by bringing out a bad report about the land—

blossom: and I will make to cease from me the
murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they
murmur against you.
The staff belonging to the man I choose will
sprout, and I will rid Myself of the constant
grumbling of the Israelites against you.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a
token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their
murmurings from me, that they die not.
The LORD said to Moses, “Put Aaron’s staff back in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign for the
rebellious, so that you may put an end to their
grumbling against Me, lest they die.”
And if he
smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a
murderer: the
murderer shall surely be put to death.
If, however,
anyone strikes a person with an iron object and kills him, he is a
murderer; the
murderer must surely be put to death.
And if he
smite him with throwing a stone,
wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a
murderer: the
murderer shall surely be put to death.
Or if
anyone has in his hand a stone of deadly size, and he strikes and kills another, he is a
murderer; the
murderer must surely be put to death.
Or if he
smite him with an hand weapon of wood,
wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a
murderer: the
murderer shall surely be put to death.
If
anyone has in his hand a deadly object of wood, and he strikes and kills another, he is a
murderer; the
murderer must surely be put to death.
The
revenger of blood himself shall
slay the
murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall
slay him.
The
avenger of blood is to put the
murderer to death; when he finds him, he is to kill him.
Or in
enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that
smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a
murderer: the
revenger of blood shall
slay the
murderer, when he meeteth him.
or if in hostility he strikes him with his hand and he dies, the one who struck him must surely be put to death; he is a
murderer. When the
avenger of blood finds the
murderer, he is to kill him.
Whoso killeth any person, the
murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not
testify against any person to cause him to die.
If
anyone kills a person, the
murderer is to be put to death on the testimony of the witnesses. But no one is to be put to death based on the testimony of a
lone witness.
Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

ransom for the life of a
murderer who deserves to die; he must surely be put to death.
And ye
murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD
hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the
Amorites, to destroy us.

Amorites to be
annihilated.
Thou shalt not kill.
You shall not murder.
But unto the
damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the
damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
Do nothing to the young woman, because she has committed no sin worthy of death. This case is just like one in which a man attacks his
neighbor and
murders him.
And the children of Israel
smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had
sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation
murmured against the princes.

And he went unto his father’s house at Ophrah, and
slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being
threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he
hid himself.
He went to his father’s house in Ophrah, and on one stone
murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerubbaal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, survived, because he
hid himself.
That the cruelty done to the
threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon
Abimelech their brother, which
slew them; and upon the men of
Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
in order that the crime against the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come to justice and their blood be
avenged on their brother
Abimelech and on the leaders of
Shechem, who had helped him
murder his brothers.
Thus God rendered the wickedness of
Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in
slaying his seventy brethren:
In this way God repaid the wickedness that
Abimelech had done to his father in
murdering his seventy brothers.
And the
Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my
concubine, to
lodge.
So the
Levite, the husband of the
murdered woman, answered: “I and my
concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to
spend the night.
For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to
slay Abner the son of
Ner.
So on that day all the troops and all Israel were
convinced that the king had no part in the
murder of
Abner son of
Ner.
And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs
licked the blood of
Naboth shall dogs
lick thy blood, even thine.
Tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Have you not
murdered a man and seized his land?’ Then tell him that this is also what the LORD says: ‘In the place where the dogs
licked up the blood of
Naboth, there also the dogs will
lick up your blood—
yes, yours!’”
But
Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but
ere the
messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a
murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the
messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
Now
Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a
messenger ahead, but before he arrived,
Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this
murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the
messenger comes, shut the door to keep him out. Is not the sound of his master’s footsteps behind him?”
And as
Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who
slew his master?
And as
Jehu entered the gate, she asked, “Have you come in peace, O Zimri,
murderer of your master?”
But Jehosheba daughter of King
Joram, the sister of
Ahaziah, took
Joash son of
Ahaziah and
stole him away from among the sons of the king who were being
murdered. She put him and his
nurse in a
bedroom to hide him from
Athaliah, and he was not killed.
And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he
slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his
grasp,
Amaziah executed the servants who had
murdered his father the king.
But the children of the
murderers he
slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Yet he did not put the sons of the murderers to death, but acted according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”
But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took
Joash the son of
Ahaziah, and
stole him from among the king’s sons that were slain, and put him and his
nurse in a
bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of
Ahaziah,)
hid him from
Athaliah, so that she
slew him not.
But Jehoshabeath daughter of King Jehoram took
Joash son of
Ahaziah and
stole him away from among the sons of the king who were being
murdered, and she put him and his
nurse in a
bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was
Ahaziah’s sister, she
hid Joash from
Athaliah so that she could not kill him.
Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he
slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his
grasp,
Amaziah executed the servants who had
murdered his father the king.
The
murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and
needy, and in the night is as a
thief.
When
daylight is gone, the
murderer rises to kill the poor and
needy; in the night he is like a
thief.
He sitteth in the
lurking places of the villages: in the secret places
doth he
murder the innocent: his eyes are
privily set against the poor.
He lies in wait near the villages; in
ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in
stealth for the helpless.
My heart is
sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
My heart
murmurs within me, and the terrors of death
assail me.
They
slay the widow and the stranger, and
murder the fatherless.
They kill the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.
They grumbled in their tents and did not
listen to the voice of the LORD.
How is the faithful city become an
harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness
lodged in it; but now
murderers.
See how the faithful city has become a
harlot! She once was full of justice; righteousness resided within her, but now only
murderers!
They also that
erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that
murmured shall learn doctrine.
Then the
wayward in spirit will come to understanding, and those who
grumble will accept instruction.”
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
He who walks righteously and speaks with
sincerity, who refuses gain from
extortion, whose hand never takes a
bribe, who stops his ears against
murderous plots and shuts his eyes
tightly against evil—
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in
travail, and the
anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of
Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying,
Woe is me now! for my soul is
wearied because of
murderers.
For I hear a cry like a woman in labor, a cry of
anguish like one bearing her first child— the cry of the Daughter of
Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands to say, “
Woe is me, for my soul
faints before the
murderers!”
Will ye
steal,
murder, and commit
adultery, and
swear falsely, and burn incense unto
Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
Will you
steal and
murder, commit
adultery and
perjury, burn incense to
Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known,
And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
On the second day after the murder of Gedaliah, when no one yet knew about it,
The lips of those that rose up against me, and their
device against me all the day.
And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests
murder in the way by consent: for they commit
lewdness.
Like raiders who lie in
ambush, so does a band of priests; they
murder on the way to
Shechem; surely they have committed
atrocities.
Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a
meadow. But Ephraim will bring out his children for slaughter.
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and
whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not
murder’ and ‘
Anyone who
murders will be subject to judgment.’
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts,
murders,
adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
For out of the heart come evil thoughts,
murder,
adultery, sexual immorality,
theft, false testimony, and
slander.
He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no
murder, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not
steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
“Which ones?” the man asked. Jesus answered, “‘Do not
murder, do not commit
adultery, do not
steal, do not bear false witness,
And when they had received it, they
murmured against the
goodman of the house,
But when the king heard thereof, he was
wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city.
The king was
enraged, and he sent his troops to destroy those
murderers and burn their city.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto
yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
So you
testify against
yourselves that you are the sons of those who
murdered the prophets.
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous
Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias son of
Barachias, whom ye
slew between the temple and the altar.
And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous
Abel to the blood of
Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you
murdered between the temple and the altar.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications,
murders,
For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality,
theft,
murder,
adultery,
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit
adultery, Do not kill, Do not
steal, Do not bear false witness,
Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
You know the commandments: ‘Do not
murder, do not commit
adultery, do not
steal, do not bear false witness, do not
cheat others, honor your father and mother.’”
For it might have been sold for more than three hundred
pence, and have been given to the poor. And they
murmured against her.
It could have been sold for over three hundred
denarii and the money given to the poor.” And they
scolded her.
And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
And a man named Barabbas was imprisoned with the rebels who had committed murder during the insurrection.
But their
scribes and
Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit
adultery, Do not kill, Do not
steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit
adultery, do not
murder, do not
steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother.’”
And when they saw it, they all
murmured, saying, That he was gone to be
guest with a man that is a
sinner.
And all who saw this began to
grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the
guest of a sinful man!”
(Who for a certain
sedition made in the city, and for
murder, was cast into prison.)
(Barabbas had been imprisoned for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
And he released unto them him that for
sedition and
murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and handed Jesus over to their will.
The Jews then
murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
At this, the Jews began to
grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples
murmured at it, he said unto them,
Doth this
offend you?
Aware that His disciples were
grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this
offend you?
And there was much
murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said,
Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
Many in the crowds were
whispering about Him. Some said, “He is a good man.” But others replied, “No, He deceives the people.”
The
Pharisees heard that the people
murmured such things concerning him; and the
Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
When the
Pharisees heard the crowd
whispering these things about Jesus, they and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a
murderer from the beginning, refusing to
uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a
liar and the father of lies.
But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a
murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily
ministration.
In those days when the disciples were increasing in number, the
Grecian Jews among them began to
grumble against the
Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.
Which of the prophets have not your fathers
persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and
murderers:
Which of the prophets did your fathers fail to
persecute? They even killed those who
foretold the coming of the Righteous One. And now you are His betrayers and
murderers—
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out
murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord. He approached the high priest
Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an
uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were
murderers?
“Aren’t you the Egyptian who incited a rebellion some time ago and led four thousand members of the ‘
Assassins’ into the wilderness?”
And when the barbarians saw the
venomous beast
hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a
murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet
vengeance suffereth not to live.
When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”
For this, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not
steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not
covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself.
Neither
murmur ye, as some of them also
murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
And do not
complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.
Envyings,
murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God.
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and
disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and
profane, for
murderers of fathers and
murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
We
realize that law is not
enacted for the righteous, but for the lawless and
rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and
profane, for killers of father or mother, for
murderers,
For he that said, Do not commit
adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no
adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a
transgressor of the law.
For He who said, “Do not commit
adultery,” also said, “Do not
murder.” If you do not commit
adultery, but do commit
murder, you have become a
lawbreaker.
Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he
doth not resist you.
You have condemned and murdered the righteous, who did not resist you.
But let none of you suffer as a
murderer, or as a
thief, or as an
evildoer, or as a
busybody in other men’s matters.
Not as
Cain, who was of that wicked one, and
slew his brother. And wherefore
slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
Do not be like
Cain, who belonged to the evil one and
murdered his brother. And why did
Cain slay him? Because his own deeds were evil, while those of his brother were righteous.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a
murderer: and ye know that no
murderer hath eternal life
abiding in him.
Everyone who hates his brother is a
murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a
murderer.
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
These men are discontented grumblers, following after their own lusts; their mouths
spew arrogance; they
flatter others for their own advantage.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
But to the
cowardly and unbelieving and
abominable and
murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
