Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which
Hezekiah king of Judah had
overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
At that time
Hezekiah stripped the gold with which he had plated the doors and doorposts of the temple of the LORD, and he gave it to the king of Assyria.
And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was

scribe, and Joah the son of

And
Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

cherubim, You alone are God
over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.
And I will stretch
over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the
plummet of the house of
Ahab: and I will
wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a
dish,
wiping it, and turning it
upside down.
I will stretch out
over Jerusalem the measuring line used against Samaria and the
plumb line used against the house of
Ahab, and I will
wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes out a
bowl—
wiping it and turning it
upside down.
And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
And let them deliver it into the hands of the supervisors of those doing the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn are to give it to the workmen repairing the damages to the house of the LORD—
And Shaphan the
scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the
oversight of the house of the LORD.
And Shaphan the
scribe went to the king and reported, “Your servants have paid out the money that was found in the temple and have put it into the hands of the workers and supervisors of the house of the LORD.”

over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king’s presence, which were found in the city, and the principal
scribe of the host, which
mustered the people of the land, and
threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
Of those still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed
over the men of war, as well as five royal advisors. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even
over them he made Gedaliah the son of

over the people he had left behind in the land of Judah.

Edom before any king reigned
over the children of Israel;

over against them, in the land of

over the host of the LORD, were keepers of the entry.
Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of
Korah, and his relatives from the Korahites were assigned to guard the thresholds of the Tent, just as their fathers had been assigned to guard the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
And
Phinehas the son of
Eleazar was the ruler
over them in time past, and the Lord was with him.
In earlier times
Phinehas son of
Eleazar had been in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.
So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the Tent.
For these Levites, the four chief
porters, were in their set office, and were
over the chambers and
treasuries of the house of God.

Some of them also were appointed to
oversee the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the
frankincense, and the spices.

And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he
slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of
Jesse.

And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou
wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler
over my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler
over my people Israel.
Even in times past, while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD your God said, ‘You will
shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler
over them.’”
Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to
Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in
Hebron before the LORD; and they
anointed David king
over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.

Hebron, where David made a covenant with them before the LORD. And they
anointed him king
over Israel, according to the word of the LORD through Samuel.

And Ismaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite,
Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the Thirty and a leader over the Thirty; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite;
These were of the sons of
Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was
over an hundred, and the greatest
over a thousand.
These Gadites were army commanders, the least of whom was a
match for a hundred, and the greatest for a thousand.
These are they that went
over Jordan in the first month, when it had
overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to
Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
Now these are the numbers of men armed for battle who came to David at
Hebron to turn Saul’s kingdom
over to him, in accordance with the word of the LORD:
All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to
Hebron, to make David king
over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
All these men of war,
arrayed for battle, came to
Hebron fully determined to make David king
over all Israel. And all the rest of the Israelites were of one mind to make David king.
And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

And when the Philistines heard that David was
anointed king
over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
When the Philistines heard that David had been
anointed king
over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them
over against the
mulberry trees.
So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the
balsam trees.
So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains
over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-
edom with joy.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with
rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-
edom.
Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the
sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler
over my people Israel:
Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.
And since the time that I commanded judges to be
over my people Israel. Moreover I will
subdue all thine enemies.
Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges
over My people Israel. And I will
subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you.
But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for
evermore.
But I will set him
over My house and My kingdom
forever, and his throne will be established
forever.”
Let it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God
over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
And
Joab the son Zeruiah was
over the host; and
Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.
Joab son of Zeruiah was
over the army;
Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief officials at the king’s side.
But the princes of the children of
Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to
overthrow, and to
spy out the land?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to
explore the land,
spy it out, and
overthrow it?”
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed
over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in
array against them. So when David had put the battle in
array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, advanced toward the Arameans, and
arrayed for battle against them. When David lined up to
engage them in battle, they fought against him.
And
Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then
doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of
trespass to Israel?
But
Joab replied, “May the LORD multiply His troops a hundred times
over. My lord the king, are they not all servants of my lord? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?”
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies
overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
between three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and
overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land, with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out
over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in
sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
When David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand stretched out
over Jerusalem, David and the elders, clothed in
sackcloth, fell facedown.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He is the one who will build a house for My Name. He will be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom
over Israel
forever.’
Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when He puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the Law of the LORD your God.
So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
When David was old and full of years, he
installed his son Solomon as king
over Israel.
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
“Of these,” said David, “24,000 are to oversee the work of the house of the LORD, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,
These likewise cast lots
over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and
Zadok, and
Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers
over against their younger brethren.
As their brothers the descendants of Aaron did, they also cast lots in the presence of King David and of
Zadok,
Ahimelech, and the heads of the families of the priests and Levites—the family heads and their younger brothers alike.
Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour.
Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.
And of the Levites,
Ahijah was
over the treasures of the house of God, and
over the treasures of the dedicated things.
Now their fellow Levites were in charge of the
treasuries of the house of God and the
treasuries of the dedicated things.
The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and
Joel his brother, which were
over the treasures of the house of the LORD.
the sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and his brother
Joel. They were in charge of the
treasuries of the house of the LORD.
Which Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated.
This Shelomith and his brothers were in charge of all the
treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders.
Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.
From the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons had the outside duties as officers and judges over Israel.
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers
over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them
over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king.
Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
Jashobeam son of Zabdiel was in charge of the first division, which was assigned the first month. There were 24,000 men in his division.
And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.
Dodai the Ahohite was in charge of the division for the second month, and Mikloth was the leader. There were 24,000 men in his division.
This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.
This Benaiah was mighty among the Thirty and was over the Thirty, and his son Ammizabad was in charge of his division.
Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was
Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:
These officers were in charge of the tribes of Israel:
Over the Reubenites was
Eliezer son of Zichri;
over the Simeonites was Shephatiah son of
Maacah;
Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites,
Zadok:
over Levi was Hashabiah son of Kemuel;
over Aaron was
Zadok;
Of Judah,
Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of
Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:
over Judah was
Elihu, one of David’s brothers;
over Issachar was Omri son of Michael;
Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of
Manasseh,
Joel the son of Pedaiah:
over the Ephraimites was Hoshea son of Azaziah;
over one of the half-tribes of
Manasseh was
Joel son of Pedaiah;
Of
Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.
and
over Dan was Azarel son of Jeroham. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.
And over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:
Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouses.
Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the storehouses in the country, in the cities, in the villages, and in the fortresses.
And
over them that did the work of the field for
tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
Ezri son of Chelub was in charge of the workers in the fields who tilled the soil.
And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:
Shimei the Ramathite was in charge of the vineyards. Zabdi the Shiphmite was in charge of the produce of the vineyards for the wine vats.
And
over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was
Baal-hanan the Gederite: and
over the cellars of oil was
Joash:
Baal-hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and
sycamore trees in the foothills.
Joash was in charge of the stores of olive oil.
And
over the herds that fed in
Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and
over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
Shitrai the Sharonite was in charge of the herds
grazing in
Sharon. Shaphat son of Adlai was in charge of the herds in the valleys.
Over the camels also was Obil the
Ishmaelite: and
over the
asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite:
Obil the
Ishmaelite was in charge of the camels. Jehdeiah the Meronothite was in charge of the
donkeys.
And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.
Jaziz the Hagrite was in charge of the flocks. All these officials were in charge of King David’s property.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains
over the thousands, and captains
over the hundreds, and the stewards
over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and cattle of the king and his sons, along with the court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king
over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king
over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s house to be king
over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king
over all Israel.
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
And of all my sons—for the LORD has given me many sons—He has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the
chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
the weight of the refined gold for the altar of incense; and the plans for the
chariot of the gold
cherubim that spread their wings and
overshadowed the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of
Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to
overlay the walls of the houses
withal:
three thousand talents of gold (the gold of
Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to
overlay the walls of the buildings,
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art
exalted as head above all.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the
splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are
exalted as head
over all.
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
Both riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler
over all. In Your hands are power and might to
exalt and give strength to all.
Thus David the son of
Jesse reigned
over all Israel.
David son of
Jesse was king
over all Israel.
And the time that he reigned
over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in
Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
The length of David’s reign
over Israel was forty years—seven years in
Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and
magnified him exceedingly.
Now Solomon son of David established himself securely
over his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and highly
exalted him.
Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
Now, O LORD God, let Your promise to my father David be fulfilled. For You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for
thyself, that thou mayest judge my people,
over whom I have made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom and knowledge to
govern My people
over whom I have made you king—
Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at
Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned
over Israel.
So Solomon went to Jerusalem from the high place in
Gibeon before the Tent of Meeting, and he reigned
over Israel.
And Solomon told out
threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and
fourscore thousand to
hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to
oversee them.
So he conscripted 70,000
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains, and 3,600 supervisors.
Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
Then
Hiram king of Tyre wrote a letter in reply to Solomon: “Because the LORD loves His people, He has set you
over them as king.”
And he set
threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and
fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred
