Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Now then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be
verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.
And now, O LORD, God of Israel,
please confirm what You promised to Your servant David.
And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and
please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants
forever.”
And
Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel,
Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
But
Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “
Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.”
And the
messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
Then the
messenger who had gone to call Micaiah
instructed him, “Behold, with one
accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So
please let your words be like theirs, and speak
favorably.”
And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.
This proposal pleased the king and the whole assembly.
Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s
treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
Now, therefore, if it
pleases the king, let a search be made of the royal
archives in Babylon to see if King Cyrus did indeed issue a decree to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. Then let the king send us his decision in this matter.
And I said unto the king, If it
please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’
sepulchres, that I may build it.
and answered the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city where my fathers are buried, so that I may rebuild it.”
And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when
wilt thou return? So it
pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
Then the king, with the queen seated beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me, and I set a time.
Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may letters be given to me for the governors west of the Euphrates, so that they will grant me safe passage until I reach Judah.
I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this
usury.
I, as well as my brothers and my servants, have been
lending the people money and grain.
Please, let us stop this
usury.
Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the
hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
Please restore to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses, along with the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and oil that you have been
assessing them.”
And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
Its abundant harvest goes to the kings You have set over us because of our sins. And they rule over our bodies and our
livestock as they
please. We are in great distress.
If it
please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king
Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.
So if it
pleases the king, let him issue a royal decree, and let it be recorded in the laws of Persia and Media so that it cannot be
repealed, that Vashti shall never again enter the presence of King
Xerxes, and that her royal position shall be given to a woman better than she.
And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan:
The king and his princes were
pleased with this counsel; so the king did as Memucan had
advised.
And let the
maiden which
pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing
pleased the king; and he did so.
Then let the young woman who pleases the king become queen in place of Vashti.” This suggestion pleased the king, and he acted accordingly.
And the
maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for
purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
And the young woman
pleased him and obtained his favor, so he quickly provided her with beauty treatments and the special diet. He assigned to her seven select maidservants from the palace and transferred her with them to the best place in the
harem.
If it
please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s
treasuries.
If it pleases the king, let a decree be issued to destroy them, and I will deposit ten thousand talents of silver into the royal treasury to pay those who carry it out.”
And the king said unto
Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
“Keep your money,” said the king to
Haman. “These people are given to you to do with them as you
please.”
And
Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and
Haman come this day unto the
banquet that I have prepared for him.
“If it
pleases the king,”
Esther replied, “may the king and
Haman come
today to the
banquet I have prepared for the king.”
If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it
please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and
Haman come to the
banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to
morrow as the king hath said.
If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it
pleases the king to grant my petition and
fulfill my request, may the king and
Haman come
tomorrow to the
banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question.”
His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him, “Have them build a
gallows fifty cubits high, and ask the king in the morning to have
Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the
banquet with the king and enjoy
yourself.” The advice
pleased Haman, and he had the
gallows constructed.
Then
Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it
please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:
Queen
Esther replied, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it
pleases the king, grant me my life as my petition, and the lives of my people as my request.
And said, If it
please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by
Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
“If it
pleases the king,” she said, “and if I have found favor in his sight, and the matter seems proper to the king, and I am pleasing in his sight, may an order be written to
revoke the letters that the scheming
Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces.
Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
Now you may write in the king’s name as you
please regarding the Jews, and seal it with the royal
signet ring. For a decree that is written in the name of the king and sealed with the royal
signet ring cannot be
revoked.”
Thus the Jews
smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that
hated them.
The Jews put all their enemies to the sword, killing and destroying them, and they did as they
pleased to those who
hated them.
Then said
Esther, If it
please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in
Shushan to do to
morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let
Haman’s ten sons be
hanged upon the
gallows.
Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints
wilt thou turn?
“Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
that God would be willing to
crush me, to
unleash His hand and cut me off!
Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
But now, please look at me. Would I lie to your face?
For
enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare
thyself to the search of their fathers:
Please inquire of past generations and consider the discoveries of their fathers.
Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest
oppress, that thou shouldest
despise the work of thine hands, and
shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
Does it
please You to
oppress me, to
reject the work of Your hands and favor the schemes of the wicked?
Remember, I
beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and
wilt thou bring me into dust again?
Please remember that You
molded me like clay. Would You now return me to dust?
His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
His sons will seek the favor of the poor, for his own hands must return his wealth.
Be
pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make
haste to help me.
Be
pleased, O LORD, to deliver me;
hurry, O LORD, to help me.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, in whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on Your altar.
This also shall
please the LORD better than an ox or
bullock that hath horns and
hoofs.
And this will
please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and
hooves.
To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.
to
instruct his princes as he
pleased and teach his elders wisdom.
But our God is in the heavens: he hath done
whatsoever he hath
pleased.
Our God is in heaven; He does as He pleases.
Whatsoever the LORD
pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
The LORD does all that pleases Him in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and in all their depths.
The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
The LORD is pleased with those who fear Him, who hope in His loving devotion.
When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even the man’s enemies live at peace with him.
The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it
whithersoever he will.
The king’s heart is a
waterway in the hand of the LORD; He directs it where He
pleases.
For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the
sinner he giveth
travail, to gather and to
heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and
vexation of spirit.
To the man who is pleasing in His sight, He gives wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the
sinner He assigns the task of gathering and
accumulating that which he will hand over to one who
pleases God. This too is
futile and a pursuit of the wind.
And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands:
whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be taken by her.
And I find more bitter than death the woman who is a
snare, whose heart is a net, and whose hands are chains. The man who
pleases God escapes her, but the
sinner is ensnared.
Be not
hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth
whatsoever pleaseth him.
Do not
hasten to leave his presence, and do not
persist in a bad cause, for he will do whatever he
pleases.
Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:
Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, till he
please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you by the gazelles and does of the field: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is right.
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, till he
please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you by the gazelles and does of the field: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is right.
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, until he
please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is right.
Therefore thou hast
forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be
replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they
please themselves in the children of strangers.
For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with influences from the east; they are soothsayers like the Philistines; they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto
Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the
Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the
Rabshakeh, “
Please speak to your servants in
Aramaic, since we understand it. Do not speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”
And said, Remember now, O LORD, I
beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And
Hezekiah wept sore.
saying, “
Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion; I have done what was good in Your sight.” And
Hezekiah wept bitterly.
The LORD is well
pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will
magnify the law, and make it honourable.
The LORD was
pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to
magnify His law and make it glorious.
Yet it
pleased the LORD to
bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall
prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall
prosper in his hand.
Yet it was the LORD’s will to
crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will
prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will
prosper in His hand.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I
please, and it shall
prosper in the thing
whereto I sent it.
so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will
accomplish what I
please, and it will
prosper where I send it.
For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
For this is what the LORD says: “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, who choose what pleases Me and hold fast to My covenant—
Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we
afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
“Why have we fasted, and You have not seen? Why have we humbled ourselves, and You have not noticed?” “Behold, on the day of your fast, you do as you
please, and you
oppress all your workers.
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from
Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
What use to Me is
frankincense from
Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not
please Me.”
Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his
wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
“
Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, since
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is
waging war against us. Perhaps the LORD will perform for us something like all His past wonders, so that
Nebuchadnezzar will withdraw from us.”
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
By My great power and outstretched arm, I made the earth and the men and beasts on the face of it, and I give it to whom I please.
So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me,
Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the
redemption is thine;
buy it for
thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
Then, as the LORD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the
courtyard of the guard and urged me, ‘
Please buy my field in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for you own the right of inheritance and
redemption.
Buy it for
yourself.’” Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in
proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:
Recently you
repented and did what
pleased Me; each of you proclaimed freedom for his
neighbor. You made a covenant before Me in the house that bears My Name.
And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So
Baruch read it in their ears.
“
Please sit down,” they said, “and read it in our hearing.” So
Baruch read it in their hearing.
And
Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and
Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.
Yet King
Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and
Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, to Jeremiah the prophet with the message, “
Please pray to the LORD our God for us!”
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my
supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of
Jonathan the
scribe, lest I die there.
But now
please listen, O my lord the king. May my petition come before you. Do not send me back to the house of
Jonathan the
scribe, or I will die there.”
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon,
forbear: behold, all the land is before thee:
whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
But now, behold, I am freeing you
today from the chains that were on your wrists. If it
pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”
Prove thy servants, I
beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us
pulse to eat, and water to drink.
“Please test your servants for ten days. Let us be given only vegetables to eat and water to drink.
I thought it good to
shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
I am pleased to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’”
It
pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
Now it
pleased Darius to
appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom,
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
I saw the ram charging toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his power. He did as he
pleased and became great.
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great authority and do as he pleases.
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
The
invader will do as he
pleases, and no one will stand against him. He will establish himself in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his hand.
And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall
exalt himself, and
magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall
prosper till the
indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
Then the king will do as he
pleases and will
exalt and
magnify himself above every god, and he will speak
monstrous things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been decreed must be accomplished.
They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be
polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not
please Him, but will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat will be
defiled. For their bread will be for themselves; it will not enter the house of the LORD.
It is in my desire that I should
chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD,
please forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
Then I said, “Lord GOD,
please stop! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Wherefore they
cried unto the LORD, and said, We
beseech thee, O LORD, we
beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it
pleased thee.
So they
cried out to the LORD: “
Please, O LORD, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life! Do not charge us with innocent blood! For You, O LORD, have done as You
pleased.”
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I
beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.
And now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”
And the LORD God prepared a
gourd, and made it to come up over
Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So
Jonah was exceeding
glad of the
gourd.
So the LORD God appointed a vine, and it grew up to provide shade over
Jonah’s head to ease his discomfort, and
Jonah was greatly
pleased with the plant.
Will the LORD be
pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my
firstborn for my
transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Would the LORD be
pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my
firstborn for my
transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be
pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be
pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
Then the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in days of old and years gone by.
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well
pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall
shew judgment to the Gentiles.
“Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will
proclaim justice to the nations.
But when Herod’s
birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and
pleased Herod.
On Herod’s
birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and
pleased Herod
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud
enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased.
Listen to Him!”
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
Do I not have the right to do as I
please with what is mine? Or are you
envious because I am generous?’
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
And
besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be
healed; and she shall live.
and
pleaded with Him
urgently, “My little daughter is near death.
Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be
healed and live.”
And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and
pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the
damsel, Ask of me
whatsoever thou
wilt, and I will give it thee.
When the daughter of Herodias came and danced, she
pleased Herod and his guests, and the king said to the
girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.”
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a
dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well
pleased.
and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a bodily form like a
dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well
pleased.”
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
And they all with one consent began to make
excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me
excused.
But one after another they all began to make excuses. The first one said, ‘I have bought a field, and I need to go see it.
Please excuse me.’
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me
excused.
Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out.
Please excuse me.’
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding
glad: for he was
desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some
miracle done by him.
When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly
pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a
miracle.
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
He who sent Me is with Me. He has not left Me alone, because I always do what pleases Him.”
And the saying
pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and
Timon, and Parmenas, and
Nicolas a
proselyte of Antioch:
This proposal
pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, as well as Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas, and
Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to
Judaism.
