And when they had finished it, they brought the
rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada,
whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer
withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
When they were finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada to make with it the articles for the house of the LORD—utensils for the service and for the burnt offerings, dishes, and other objects of gold and silver. Throughout the days of Jehoiada, burnt offerings were presented regularly in the house of the LORD.
Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And
Amaziah his son reigned in his
stead.
The accounts of the sons of
Joash, as well as the many pronouncements about him and about the
restoration of the house of God, are indeed written in the Treatise of the Book of the Kings. And his son
Amaziah reigned in his place.
Now the
rest of the acts of
Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?
As for the
rest of the acts of
Amaziah, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?
He built Eloth, and
restored it to Judah, after that the king
slept with his fathers.
Uzziah was the one who rebuilt Eloth and
restored it to Judah after King
Amaziah rested with his fathers.
Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
As for the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from beginning to end, they are recorded by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
So Uzziah
slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a
leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his
stead.
And Uzziah
rested with his fathers and was buried near them in a field of burial that belonged to the kings; for the people said, “He was a
leper.” And his son Jotham reigned in his place.
Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
And Jotham
slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and
Ahaz his son reigned in his
stead.
And Jotham
rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son
Ahaz reigned in his place.
For the LORD brought Judah low because of
Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and
transgressed sore against the LORD.
For the LORD humbled Judah because
Ahaz king of Israel had thrown off
restraint in Judah and had been most unfaithful to the LORD.
Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
As for the
rest of the acts of
Ahaz and all his ways, from beginning to end, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
And
Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the
sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and
Hezekiah his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And his son
Hezekiah reigned in his place.
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people
rested themselves upon the words of
Hezekiah king of Judah.
With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.” So the people were strengthened by the words of
Hezekiah king of Judah.
Thus the LORD saved
Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of
Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
So the LORD saved
Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hands of King
Sennacherib of Assyria and all the others, and He gave them
rest on every side.
Now the
rest of the acts of
Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And
Manasseh his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Hezekiah rested with his fathers and was buried in the upper tombs of David’s descendants. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death. And his son
Manasseh reigned in his place.
And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed
thereon peace offerings and
thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.
Then he
restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace offerings and
thank offerings on it, and he told Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
Now the
rest of the acts of
Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
As for the
rest of the acts of
Manasseh, along with his prayer to his God and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, they are indeed written in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
So
Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried at his palace. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and
amend the house:
They put it into the hands of the supervisors of those doing the work of the house of the LORD, who in turn gave it to the workmen restoring and repairing the house of the LORD.
Now the
rest of the acts of
Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,
As for the
rest of the acts of
Josiah, along with his deeds of loving devotion according to what is written in the Law of the LORD—

rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and
Jehoiachin his son reigned in his
stead.
As for the
rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, the abominations he committed, and all that was found against him, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And his son
Jehoiachin reigned in his place.
To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay
desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil
threescore and ten years.
So the land enjoyed its Sabbath
rest all the days of the
desolation, until seventy years were completed, in
fulfillment of the word of the LORD through Jeremiah.
So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the
porters, and the
Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the
remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
In the second month of the second year after they had arrived at the house of God in Jerusalem,
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the
rest of their associates including the priests, the Levites, and all who had returned to Jerusalem from the captivity, began the work. They appointed Levites twenty years of age or older to
supervise the construction of the house of the LORD.
But
Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the
rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
But
Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the other heads of the families of Israel replied, “You have no part with us in building a house for our God, since we alone must build it for the LORD, the God of Israel, as Cyrus king of Persia has commanded us.”
And in the days of
Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the
rest of their companions, unto
Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the
Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the
Syrian tongue.
And in the days of
Artaxerxes king of Persia, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the
rest of his associates wrote a letter to
Artaxerxes. It was written in
Aramaic and then translated.
Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the
scribe, and the
rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,
From Rehum the commander, Shimshai the
scribe, and the
rest of their associates—the judges and officials over Tripolis, Persia, Erech and Babylon, the Elamites of
Susa,
And the
rest of the nations whom the great and noble
Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the
rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
and the
rest of the peoples whom the great and honorable Ashurbanipal
deported and settled in the cities of Samaria and elsewhere west of the Euphrates.
Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the
rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
Let it be known to the king that the Jews who came from you to us have returned to Jerusalem. And they are rebuilding that
rebellious and wicked city,
restoring its walls, and repairing its foundations.
Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay
toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt
endamage the revenue of the kings.
Let it now be known to the king that if that city is rebuilt and its walls are
restored, they will not pay tribute, duty, or
toll, and the royal treasury will suffer.
We
certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
We
advise the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls are
restored, you will have no dominion west of the Euphrates.
Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the
scribe, and to the
rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the
rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
Then the king sent this reply: To Rehum the commander, Shimshai the
scribe, and the
rest of your associates living in Samaria and elsewhere in the region west of the Euphrates: Greetings.
At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
At that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates went to the Jews and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
So we questioned the elders and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which
Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be
restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
Furthermore, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which
Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem and carried to Babylon, must also be returned to the temple in Jerusalem and deposited in the house of God.
And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the
rest of the children of the captivity, kept the
dedication of this house of God with joy,
Then the people of Israel—the priests, the Levites, and the
rest of the exiles—celebrated the
dedication of the house of God with joy.
And
whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the
rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
You and your brothers may do whatever seems best with the rest of the silver and gold, according to the will of your God.
And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
So we arrived at Jerusalem and rested there for three days.
And the rulers knew not
whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the
rest that did the work.
The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, for I had not yet told the Jews or priests or nobles or officials or any other workers.
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they
fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the
rubbish which are burned?
before his associates and the army of Samaria, saying, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Can they
restore the wall by themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of
rubble?”
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
After I had made an inspection, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the
rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and
awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
Then I said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people: “The work is great and extensive, and we are spread out far from one another along the wall.
Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the
hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
Please
restore to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses, along with the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and oil that you have been
assessing them.”
Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
“We will restore it,” they replied, “and will require nothing more from them. We will do as you say.” So I summoned the priests and required of the nobles and officials an oath that they would do what they had promised.
Now it came to pass, when
Sanballat, and
Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the
rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
When
Sanballat,
Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the
rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall and not a
gap was left—though to that time I had not yet
installed the doors in the gates—
My God, think thou upon
Tobiah and
Sanballat according to these their works, and on the
prophetess Noadiah, and the
rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
And that which the
rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and
threescore and seven priests’ garments.
The
rest of the people gave a total of 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000
minas of silver, and 67 priestly garments.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the
porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the
Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
So the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with some of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns. And by the seventh month the Israelites had settled in their towns.
But after they had
rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and
cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times
didst thou deliver them according to thy
mercies;
But as soon as they had
rest, they again did evil in Your sight. So You abandoned them to the hands of their enemies, who had dominion over them. When they
cried out to You again, You heard from heaven, and You delivered them many times in Your
compassion.
And the
rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the
porters, the singers, the
Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
“The rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the people of the land to obey the Law of God—along with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand,
And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in the holy city of Jerusalem, while the remaining nine were to dwell in their own towns.
And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
The rest of the Israelites, with the priests and Levites, were in all the villages of Judah, each on his own inheritance.
Then I commanded, and they
cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the
frankincense.
Then I ordered that the rooms be
purified, and I had the articles of the house of God
restored to them, along with the grain offerings and
frankincense.
Nevertheless
Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
Nevertheless,
Haman restrained himself and went home. And calling for his friends and his wife Zeresh,
And the king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in
Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the
rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the
rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your petition? It will be given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”
But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had
rest from their enemies, and
slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
The
rest of the Jews in the royal provinces also assembled to defend themselves and rid themselves of their enemies. They killed 75,000 who
hated them, but they did not lay a hand on the
plunder.
This was done on the
thirteenth day of the month of
Adar, and on the
fourteenth day they
rested, making it a day of feasting and joy.
The Jews in
Susa, however, had assembled on the
thirteenth and the
fourteenth days of the month. So they
rested on the
fifteenth day, making it a day of feasting and joy.
As the days wherein the Jews
rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from
mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.
as the days on which the Jews gained
rest from their enemies and the month in which their sorrow turned to joy and their
mourning into a
holiday. He wrote that these were to be days of feasting and joy, of sending gifts to one another and to the poor.
For now should I have
lain still and been quiet, I should have
slept: then had I been at
rest,
For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be
asleep and at
rest There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the
weary be at
rest.
There the wicked cease from
raging, and there the
weary find
rest.
There the prisoners
rest together; they hear not the voice of the
oppressor.
I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
I am not at ease or quiet; I have no rest, for trouble has come.”
Therefore I will not
refrain my mouth; I will speak in the
anguish of my spirit; I will
complain in the bitterness of my soul.
Therefore I will not
restrain my mouth; I will speak in the
anguish of my spirit; I will
complain in the bitterness of my soul.
If thou
wert pure and upright; surely now he would
awake for thee, and make the
habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
if you are pure and upright, even now He will
rouse Himself on your behalf and
restore your righteous estate.
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do
stoop under him.
God does not
restrain His anger; the helpers of
Rahab cower beneath Him.
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope;
yea, thou shalt
dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy
rest in safety.
You will be secure, because there is hope, and you will look around and lie down in safety.
look away from him and let him
rest, so he can enjoy his day as a
hired hand.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and
restrainest prayer before God.
But you even undermine the fear of God and hinder
meditation before Him.
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and
dost thou
restrain wisdom to
thyself?
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry for help never be laid to rest.
They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
Will it go down to the gates of
Sheol? Will we go down together into the dust?”
His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
His sons will seek the favor of the poor, for his own hands must return his wealth.
That which he laboured for shall he
restore, and shall not
swallow it down: according to his substance shall the
restitution be, and he shall not
rejoice therein.
He must return the fruit of his labor without
consuming it; he cannot enjoy the profits of his trading.
If thou return to the
Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
If you return to the
Almighty, you will be
restored. If you remove injustice from your tents
Though it be given him to be in safety,
whereon he
resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
He gives them a sense of security, but His eyes are on their ways.
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
when I was in my prime, when the friendship of God rested on my tent,
My root was spread out by the waters, and the
dew lay all night upon my branch.
My roots will spread out to the waters, and the
dew will
rest nightly on my branches.
Because he hath loosed my cord, and
afflicted me, they have also let loose the
bridle before me.
Because God has unstrung my bow and
afflicted me, they have cast off
restraint in my presence.
They
mar my path, they set forward my
calamity, they have no helper.
They
tear up my path; they profit from my destruction, with no one to
restrain them.
My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.
Night pierces my bones, and my
gnawing pains never
rest.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He prays to God and finds favor; he sees God’s face and shouts for joy, and God restores His righteousness to that man.
After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his
excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.
Then there comes a
roaring sound; He thunders with His
majestic voice. He does not
restrain the
lightning when His voice resounds.
And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessions.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When the LORD
restores His
captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
Therefore my heart is
glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall
rest in hope.
Therefore my heart is
glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely.
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose
belly thou fillest with thy
hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the
rest of their substance to their babes.
from such men, O LORD, by Your hand— from men of the world whose portion is in this life. May You fill the
bellies of Your
treasured ones and satisfy their sons, so they leave their abundance to their children.
O my God, I cry in the
daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.
Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
May Your loving devotion rest on us, O LORD, as we put our hope in You.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not
thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not
fret when men
prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin.
The LORD will
sustain him on his bed of illness and
restore him from his bed of sickness.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and
uphold me with thy free spirit.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and
sustain me with a willing spirit.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When God
restores His
captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
Attend unto me, and hear me: I
mourn in my
complaint, and make a noise;
And I said, Oh that I had wings like a
dove! for then would I fly away, and be at
rest.
I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a
dove! I would fly away and find
rest.
O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn
thyself to us again.
You have rejected us, O God; You have broken us; You have been
angry;
restore us!
Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him.
