durst not
shew you mine opinion.

timid and afraid to tell you what I know.
I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
I thought that age should speak, and many years should teach wisdom.

And
Elihu went on to say:
Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
“Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am more righteous than God.’
For thou
saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be
cleansed from my sin?
For you ask, ‘What does it profit me, and what benefit do I gain apart from sin?’
Elihu also proceeded, and
said,
Suffer me a little, and I will

plea for mercy when I called to You for help.

confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You
forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and

said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should
rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they
magnify themselves against me.

said, “Let them not
gloat over me— those who
taunt me when my foot slips.”
I
said, I will take
heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a
bridle, while the wicked is before me.
I
said, “I will watch my ways so that I will not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a

warrior; I have
exalted one chosen from the people.

laughter, and our tongue with singing: then

Remember, O LORD, the children of
Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who

Remember, O LORD, the sons of
Edom on the day Jerusalem fell: “Destroy it,” they
said, “
tear it down to its foundations!”

for it is better that he says to you, “Come up here!” than that you should be demoted in the presence of the prince. Even what you have seen with your own eyes,

Is there a case where one can say, “Look, this is new”? It has already existed in the ages before us.
I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have
gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem:
yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
I said to myself, “Behold, I have grown and increased in wisdom beyond all those before me who were over Jerusalem, and my mind has observed a wealth of wisdom and knowledge.”
