For the arrows of the
Almighty are within me, the poison
whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do
set themselves in
array against me.
For the arrows of the
Almighty have pierced me; my spirit drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are
arrayed against me.
Am I a sea, or a
whale, that thou
settest a watch over me?
Am I the sea, or the
monster of the deep, that You must keep me under guard?
What is man, that thou shouldest
magnify him? and that thou shouldest
set thine heart upon him?
What is man that You should
exalt him, that You should
set Your heart upon him,
I have
sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou
set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?
If I have
sinned, what have I done to You, O watcher of mankind? Why have You made me Your
target, so that I am a burden to You?
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall
set me a time to
plead?
If it is a matter of strength, He is indeed mighty! If it is a matter of justice, who can
summon Him?
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
You put my feet in the stocks and stand watch over all my paths; You set a limit for the soles of my feet.
Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

Oh that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest
appoint me a
set time, and remember me!
If only You would hide me in
Sheol and
conceal me until Your anger has passed! If only You would
appoint a time for me and then remember me!

asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and
shaken me to pieces, and
set me up for his mark.

fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath
set darkness in my paths.

veiled my paths with darkness.
He buildeth his house as a
moth, and as a
booth that the keeper maketh.
He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
Man puts an end to the darkness; he probes the
farthest recesses for ore in deepest darkness.
when He
set a limit for the rain and a path for the
thunderbolt,
After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
After my words, they spoke no more; my speech
settled on them like
dew.
But now they that are younger than I have me in
derision, whose fathers I would have
disdained to have
set with the dogs of my flock.
“But now they
mock me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to
entrust with my sheep dogs.
They
mar my path, they
set forward my
calamity, they have no helper.
They
tear up my path; they profit from my destruction, with no one to restrain them.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
If He were to set His heart to it and withdraw His Spirit and breath,
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and
set others in their
stead.
He
shatters the mighty without inquiry and
sets up others in their place.

And
brake up for it my decreed place, and
set bars and doors,
when I fixed its boundaries and set in place its bars and doors,

ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild
ass?

scornful.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
The kings of the earth
set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his
anointed, saying,

set my king upon my holy hill of
Zion.

I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side.

Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
O LORD, our Lord, how
majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have
set Your glory above the heavens.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
He sitteth in the
lurking places of the villages: in the secret places
doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are
privily set against the poor.
He lies in wait near the villages; in
ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in
stealth for the helpless.
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their
arrow upon the string, that they may

sighing of the
needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will

needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD. “I will bring safety to him who yearns.”

We will
rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will
set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall
set me up upon a rock.

set me high upon a rock.

horrible pit, out of the
miry clay, and
set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

miry clay; He
set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.

integrity, and
settest me before thy face for ever.

set them in order before thine eyes.

rebuke you and
accuse you to your face.
For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not
set God before them.
Selah.
For strangers rise up against me, and
ruthless men seek my life— men with no regard for God.
Selah My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

ravenous beasts— with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.

rebellious dwell in a sun-
scorched land.
Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
Your flock
settled therein; O God, from Your
bounty You provided for the poor.

inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongues
strut across the earth.

didst set them in
slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
Surely You
set them on
slick ground; You cast them down into ruin.
Thine enemies
roar in the midst of thy congregations; they
set up their ensigns for signs.

forgetting His works, but keeping His commandments.

stubborn and
rebellious generation; a generation that
set not their heart
aright, and whose spirit was not
stedfast with God.

stubborn and
rebellious generation, whose heart was not
loyal, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

set up the right hand of his
adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to

cling to me.

For there the thrones of judgment stand, the thrones of the house of David.
The LORD hath
sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I
set upon thy throne.
The LORD
swore an oath to David, a promise He will not
revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the
uttermost parts of the sea;
If I rise on the wings of the
dawn, if I
settle by the
farthest sea,
The proud have
hid a
snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the
wayside; they have
set gins for me.
Selah.
The proud hide a
snare for me; the cords of their net are spread along the path, and lures are
set out for me.
Selah Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
May my prayer be
set before You like incense, my
uplifted hands like the evening offering.

Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
Reach down from on high;
set me free and
rescue me from the deep waters, from the
grasp of foreigners,
