Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Then they
shall confess their sin which they have done: and he
shall recompense his
trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath
trespassed.
and must
confess the sin he has committed. He must make full
restitution, add a fifth to its value, and give all this to the one he has wronged.
But if the man has no relative to whom
restitution can be made for the wrong, the
restitution belongs to the LORD and must be given to the priest along with the ram of
atonement, by which the
atonement is made for him.
And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his.
Every sacred contribution the Israelites bring to the priest shall belong to him.
And every man’s
hallowed things
shall be his:
whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it
shall be his.
Each man’s sacred gifts are his own, but whatever he gives to the priest will belong to the priest.”
Then
shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he
shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an
ephah of barley meal; he
shall pour no oil upon it, nor put
frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of
memorial, bringing iniquity to
remembrance.
then he is to bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring for her an offering of a tenth of an
ephah of barley flour. He is not to pour oil over it or put
frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, an offering of
memorial as a reminder of iniquity.
And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD:
The priest is to bring the wife forward and have her stand before the LORD.
And the priest
shall take holy water in an
earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest
shall take, and put it into the water:
Then he is to take some holy water in a clay
jar and put some of the dust from the tabernacle floor into the water.
And the priest
shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman’s head, and put the offering of
memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest
shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the
curse:
After the priest has the woman stand before the LORD, he is to let down her hair and place in her hands the grain offering of
memorial, which is the grain offering for jealousy. The priest is to hold the bitter water that brings a
curse.
And the priest
shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have
lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the
curse:
And he is to put the woman under oath and say to her, ‘If no other man has
slept with you and you have not gone
astray and become
defiled while under your husband’s authority, may you be
immune to this bitter water that brings a
curse.
Then the priest
shall charge the woman with an oath of
cursing, and the priest
shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a
curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD
doth make thy
thigh to
rot, and thy
belly to swell;
May this water that brings a
curse enter your stomach and cause your
belly to swell and your
thigh to
shrivel.’ Then the woman is to say, ‘
Amen,
Amen.’
And the priest
shall write these curses in a book, and he
shall blot them out with the bitter water:
And the priest
shall write these curses on a
scroll and wash them off into the bitter water.
And he
shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the
curse: and the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
He is to have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a
curse, and it will enter her and cause her bitter suffering.
Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman’s hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar:
The priest shall take from her hand the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD, and bring it to the altar.
And the priest
shall take an handful of the offering, even the
memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward
shall cause the woman to drink the water.
Then the priest is to take a handful of the grain offering as a
memorial portion and burn it on the altar; after that he is to have the woman drink the water.
And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it
shall come to pass, that, if she be
defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the
curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her
belly shall swell, and her
thigh shall rot: and the woman
shall be a
curse among her people.
When he has made her drink the water, if she has
defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then the water that brings a
curse will enter her and cause bitter suffering; her
belly will swell, her
thigh will
shrivel, and she will become
accursed among her people.
And if the woman be not
defiled, but be clean; then she
shall be free, and
shall conceive seed.
But if the woman has not
defiled herself and is clean, she will be unaffected and able to conceive children.
Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be
jealous over his wife, and
shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest
shall execute upon her all this law.
or when a feeling of jealousy comes over a husband and he suspects his wife. He is to have the woman stand before the LORD, and the priest is to apply to her this entire law.
Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.
The husband will be free from guilt, but the woman shall bear her iniquity.”
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman
shall separate themselves to
vow a
vow of a
Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them that if a man or woman makes a special
vow, the
vow of a
Nazirite, to separate himself to the LORD,
He
shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and
shall drink no
vinegar of wine, or
vinegar of strong drink, neither
shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
he is to
abstain from wine and strong drink. He must not drink
vinegar made from wine or strong drink, and he must not drink any
grape juice or eat fresh grapes or
raisins.
All the days of his separation
shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the
husk.
All the days of his separation, he is not to eat anything that comes from the
grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.
All the days of the
vow of his separation there
shall no
razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he
shall be holy, and
shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
For the entire period of his
vow of separation, no
razor shall pass over his head. He must be holy until the time of his separation to the LORD is complete; he must let the hair of his head grow long.
All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body.
Throughout the days of his separation to the LORD, he must not go near a dead body.
He
shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the
consecration of his God is upon his head.
Even if his father or mother or brother or sister should die, he is not to
defile himself, because the crown of
consecration to his God is upon his head.
If someone suddenly dies in his presence and defiles his consecrated head of hair, he must
shave his head on the day of his
cleansing—the seventh day.
And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
On the eighth day he must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And the priest
shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an
atonement for him, for that he
sinned by the dead, and
shall hallow his head that same day.
And the priest is to offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make
atonement for him, because he has
sinned by being in the presence of the dead body. On that day he must
consecrate his head again.
And he
shall consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and
shall bring a lamb of the first year for a
trespass offering: but the days that were before
shall be lost, because his separation was
defiled.
He must rededicate his time of separation to the LORD and bring a year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. But the preceding days
shall not be counted, because his separation was
defiled.
And this is the law of the
Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he
shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
Now this is the law of the
Nazirite when his time of separation is complete: He must be brought to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,
And he
shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without
blemish for a burnt offering, and one
ewe lamb of the first year without
blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without
blemish for peace offerings,
and he is to present an offering to the LORD of an
unblemished year-old male lamb as a burnt offering, an
unblemished year-old female lamb as a sin offering, and an
unblemished ram as a peace offering—
And the priest shall bring them before the LORD, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering:
The priest is to present all these before the LORD and make the sin offering and the burnt offering.
And he
shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, with the
basket of
unleavened bread: the priest
shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering.
He
shall also offer the ram as a peace offering to the LORD, along with the
basket of
unleavened bread. And the priest is to offer the accompanying grain offering and drink offering.
And the
Nazarite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and
shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.
Then at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the
Nazirite is to
shave his consecrated head, take the hair, and put it on the fire under the peace offering.
And the priest
shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and
heave shoulder: and after that the
Nazarite may drink wine.
The priest
shall then wave them as a wave offering before the LORD. This is a holy portion for the priest, in addition to the breast of the wave offering and the
thigh that was presented. After that, the
Nazirite may drink wine.
This is the law of the
Nazarite who hath
vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand
shall get: according to the
vow which he
vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
This is the law of the
Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD for his separation, in addition to whatever else he can afford; he must
fulfill whatever
vow he makes, according to the law of his separation.”
Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye
shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
“Tell Aaron and his sons: This is how you are to
bless the Israelites. Say to them:
And they
shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will
bless them.
So they
shall put My name on the Israelites, and I will
bless them.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, They
shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the
dedicating of the altar.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Each day one leader is to present his offering for the
dedication of the altar.”
Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps
shall give light over against the
candlestick.
“Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
You are to present the Levites before the LORD and have the Israelites lay their hands upon them.
And Aaron
shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may
execute the service of the LORD.
Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
And the Levites
shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an
atonement for the Levites.
And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and offer to the LORD one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, to make
atonement for the Levites.
Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
And after that
shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt
cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
After you have
cleansed them and presented them as a wave offering, they may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
But at the age of fifty, they must retire from performing the work and no longer serve.
But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
After that, they may assist their brothers in
fulfilling their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to
assign responsibilities to the Levites.”
In the
fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye
shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof,
shall ye keep it.
You are to observe it at the appointed time, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with its statutes and ordinances.”
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your
posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey
afar off, yet he
shall keep the
passover unto the LORD.
“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any one of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a journey, he may still observe the
Passover to the LORD.
The
fourteenth day of the second month at even they
shall keep it, and eat it with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Such people are to observe it at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the second month. They are to eat the lamb, together with
unleavened bread and bitter herbs;
They
shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the
passover they
shall keep it.
they may not leave any of it until morning or break any of its bones. They must observe the
Passover according to all its statutes.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul
shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man
shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger
shall sojourn among you, and will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover, and according to the manner thereof, so
shall he do: ye
shall have one
ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
If a foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the foreigner and the native of the land.’”
And when they
shall blow with them, all the assembly
shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to
assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And if they blow but with one
trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel,
shall gather themselves unto thee.
But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you.
When ye blow an
alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts
shall go forward.
When you sound short blasts, the camps that lie on the east side are to set out.
When ye blow an
alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side
shall take their journey: they
shall blow an
alarm for their journeys.
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye
shall blow, but ye
shall not sound an
alarm.
To
convene the assembly, you are to sound long blasts, not short ones.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests,
shall blow with the
trumpets; and they
shall be to you for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the
trumpets. This
shall be a permanent statute for you and the generations to come.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye
shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye
shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye
shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye
shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And it
shall be, if thou go with us,
yea, it
shall be, that what goodness the LORD
shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us.”
And the
mixt multitude that was among them fell a
lusting: and the children of Israel also
wept again, and said, Who
shall give us flesh to eat?
Meanwhile, the
rabble among them had a strong
craving for other food, and again the Israelites
wept and said, “Who will feed us meat?
And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they
shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not
thyself alone.
And I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put that Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by
yourself.
And say thou unto the people,
Sanctify yourselves against to
morrow, and ye
shall eat flesh: for ye have
wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who
shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye
shall eat.
And say to the people:
Consecrate yourselves for
tomorrow, and you will eat meat, because you have
cried out in the hearing of the LORD, saying: ‘Who will feed us meat? For we were better off in Egypt!’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat.
Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
You will eat it not for one or two days, nor for five or ten or twenty days,
Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
If all our flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not My word will come to pass.”
With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD
shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
I speak with him face to face, clearly and not in
riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you unafraid to speak against My servant Moses?”
Send thou men, that they may search the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers
shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
“Send out for
yourself men to
spy out the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”
And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)
But Moses said to the LORD, “The Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought this people from among them.
But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
“Yet as surely as I live and as surely as the whole earth is filled with the glory of the LORD,
Surely they
shall not see the land which I
sware unto their fathers, neither
shall any of them that
provoked me see it:
not one will ever see the land that I
swore to give their fathers. None of those who have treated Me with contempt will see it.
But my servant
Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land
whereinto he went; and his seed
shall possess it.
But because My servant
Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will
inherit it.
How long
shall I bear with this evil congregation, which
murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they
murmur against me.
“How long will this wicked congregation
grumble against Me? I have heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.
Your carcases
shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have
murmured against me,
Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census,
everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.
Doubtless ye
shall not come into the land, concerning which I
sware to make you dwell therein, save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of
Nun.
Surely none of you will enter the land in which I
swore to settle you, except
Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of
Nun.
But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they
shall know the land which ye have
despised.
But I will bring your children, whom you said would become
plunder, into the land you have rejected—and they will enjoy it.
But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.
As for you, however, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.
And your children
shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
Your children will be
shepherds in the wilderness for forty years, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.
After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year,
shall ye bear your
iniquities, even forty years, and ye
shall know my breach of promise.
In keeping with the forty days you
spied out the land, you
shall bear your guilt forty years—a year for each day—and you will experience My
alienation.
I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this entire wicked congregation, which has
conspired against Me. They will meet their end in the wilderness, and there they will die.”
And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye
transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it
shall not
prosper.
But Moses said, “Why are you
transgressing the commandment of the LORD? This will not succeed!
For the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites are there before you, and ye
shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.
For there the
Amalekites and
Canaanites will face you, and you will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He will not be with you.”
Then
shall he that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an
hin of oil.
then the one presenting his offering to the LORD
shall also present a grain offering of a tenth of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with a quarter
hin of olive oil.
Then
shall he bring with a
bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an
hin of oil.
present with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with half a
hin of olive oil.
Thus
shall it be done for one
bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a
kid.
This is to be done for each bull, ram, lamb, or goat.
According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
This is how you must prepare each one, no matter how many.
All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
Everyone who is native-born
shall prepare these things in this way when he presents an offering made by fire as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
And if a stranger
sojourn with you, or
whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he
shall do.
And for the generations to come, if a foreigner residing with you or someone else among you wants to prepare an offering made by fire as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, he is to do exactly as you do.
One
ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an
ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so
shall the stranger be before the LORD.
The assembly is to have the same statute both for you and for the foreign resident; it is a permanent statute for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the LORD.
One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
The same law and the same
ordinance will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing with you.”
Then it
shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye
shall offer up an
heave offering unto the LORD.
and you eat the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering to the LORD.
Ye
shall offer up a
cake of the first of your
dough for an
heave offering: as ye do the
heave offering of the threshingfloor, so
shall ye
heave it.
From the first of your
dough, you are to lift up a
cake as a contribution; offer it just like an offering from the
threshing floor.
Of the first of your
dough ye
shall give unto the LORD an
heave offering in your generations.
Throughout your generations, you are to give the LORD an offering from the first of your
dough.
Then it
shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation
shall offer one young
bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one
kid of the goats for a sin offering.
and if it was done
unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, then the whole congregation is to prepare one young bull as a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a sin offering.
And the priest
shall make an
atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it
shall be
forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they
shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:
The priest is to make
atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be
forgiven; for the sin was
unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by fire and a sin offering, presented before the LORD for their
unintentional sin.
And it
shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be
forgiven, since it happened to all the people
unintentionally.
