Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.
For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a
bondmaid, the other by a
freewoman.
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman.
But he who was of the
bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the
freewoman was by promise.

Which things are an
allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount
Sinai, which gendereth to
bondage, which is
Agar.
These things serve as illustrations, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount
Sinai and bears children into
slavery: This is
Hagar.
For this
Agar is mount
Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in
bondage with her children.
Now
Hagar stands for Mount
Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present-day Jerusalem, because she is in
slavery with her children.
Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the
bondwoman and her son: for the son of the
bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.
But what does the Scripture say? “
Expel the
slave woman and her son, for the
slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”
So then, brethren, we are not children of the
bondwoman, but of the free.
Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

encumbered once more by a yoke of
slavery.
Servants, be
obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and
trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

And, ye masters, do the same things unto them,
forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
And masters, do the same for your
slaves. Give up your use of threats, because you know that He who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no
favoritism with Him.
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with
sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Masters, supply your slaves with what is right and fair, since you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
For whoremongers, for them that
defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for
perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for
slave traders and liars and perjurers, and for
anyone else who is
averse to sound teaching
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not
blasphemed.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.
Exhort servants to be
obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
Slaves are to submit to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not

bondage.

slaves to

And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every
bondman, and every free man,
hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

everyone slave and free, small and great.”
