Iron is
taken out of the earth, and brass is
molten out of the stone.
Iron is
taken from the earth, and copper is
smelted from ore.
And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of
affliction have
taken hold upon me.
For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
For Job has declared, ‘I am righteous, yet God has deprived me of justice.
In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at
midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be
taken away without hand.
They die in an instant, in the middle of the night. The people
convulse and pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.
But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
and further, that in His anger He has not punished or taken much notice of folly!
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they
hid is their own foot
taken.
The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The wicked in his pride
doth persecute the poor: let them be
taken in the devices that they have imagined.
In pride the wicked pursue the
needy; let them be caught in the schemes they
devise.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be
ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness.
For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine
iniquities have
taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
For evils without number
surround me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy
bottle: are they not in thy book?
You have
taken account of my wanderings. Put my tears in Your
bottle— are they not in Your book?
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be
taken in their pride: and for
cursing and lying which they speak.
By the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be
trapped in their pride, in the curses and lies they utter.
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
They have
taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Thou hast
taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned
thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
You
withheld all Your
fury; You turned from Your burning anger.
Horror hath
taken hold upon me because of the wicked that
forsake thy law.
Rage has
taken hold of me because of the wicked who
reject Your law.
Trouble and
anguish have
taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.
Trouble and distress have found me, but Your commandments are my delight.
For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from the
snare.
For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; they are deprived of
slumber until they make someone fall.
Thou art
snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art
taken with the words of thy mouth.
if you have been
trapped by the words of your lips, ensnared by the words of your mouth,
He hath
taken a
bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
He took with him a
bag of money and will not return till the moon is full.”
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be
taken in their own
naughtiness.
The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the faithless are
trapped by their own desires.
If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?
Yea, I
hated all my labour which I had
taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
I
hated all for which I had
toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me.
I know that,
whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing
taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
I know that everything God does endures
forever; nothing can be added to it or
taken from it. God does it so that they should fear Him.
Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.
The produce of the earth is taken by all; the king himself profits from the fields.
And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands:
whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be
taken by her.
And I find more bitter than death the woman who is a
snare, whose heart is a net, and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the
sinner is ensnared.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are
taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the
snare; so are the sons of men
snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
For surely no man knows his time: Like fish caught in a cruel net or birds
trapped in a
snare, so men are ensnared in an evil time that suddenly falls upon them.
I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I
defile them?
I have
taken off my
robe— must I put it back on? I have washed my feet— must I soil them again?
Then
flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had
taken with the
tongs from off the altar:
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is
taken away, and thy sin
purged.
And with it he touched my mouth and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your iniquity is removed and your sin is
atoned for.”
Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
For
Aram, along with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has
plotted your ruin, saying:
For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the
spoil of Samaria shall be
taken away before the king of Assyria.
For before the boy knows how to cry ‘Father’ or ‘Mother,’ the wealth of Damascus and the
plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of Assyria.”
And many among them shall
stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be
snared, and be
taken.
Many will
stumble over these; they will fall and be broken; they will be ensnared and captured.”
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be
taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing.
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
They are gone over the passage: they have
taken up their
lodging at Geba;
Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
They have crossed at the
ford: “We will
spend the night at Geba.”
Ramah trembles; Gibeah of Saul flees.
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains
tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
I will break Assyria in My land; I will
trample him on My mountain. His yoke will be
taken off My people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.”
And
gladness is
taken away, and joy out of the
plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be
shouting: the treaders shall
tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their
vintage shouting to cease.
Joy and
gladness are removed from the
orchard; no one sings or shouts in the vineyards. No one tramples the grapes in the winepresses; I have put an end to the
cheering.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is
taken away from being a city, and it shall be a
ruinous heap.
This is the burden against Damascus: “Behold, Damascus is no longer a city; it has become a
heap of ruins.
Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
Therefore my body is filled with
anguish. Pain grips me, like the pains of a woman in labor. I am
bewildered to hear, I am dismayed to see.
Is this your
joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her
afar off to
sojourn.
Is this your
jubilant city, whose origin is from antiquity, whose feet have
taken her to settle far away?
Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?
Who
planned this against Tyre, the
bestower of crowns, whose traders are princes, whose merchants are
renowned on the earth?
And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be
taken in the
snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do
shake.
Whoever flees the sound of
panic will fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For the windows of heaven are open, and the foundations of the earth are
shaken.
But the word of the LORD was unto them
precept upon
precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and
snared, and
taken.
Then the word of the LORD to them will become: “Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line; a little here, a little there,” so that they will go
stumbling backward and will be injured, ensnared, and captured.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our
solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet
habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be
taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our appointed feasts. Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful pasture, a tent that does not
wander; its tent pegs will not be pulled up, nor will any of its cords be broken.
But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars
Hezekiah hath
taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is He not the One whose high places and altars
Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before this altar’?
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Yea, they shall not be planted;
yea, they shall not be sown:
yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the
whirlwind shall take them away as
stubble.
No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner have their stems
taken root in the ground, than He blows on them and they wither, and a
whirlwind sweeps them away like
stubble.
Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its
farthest corners. I said, ‘You are My servant.’ I have chosen and not rejected you.
Shall the prey be
taken from the mighty, or the lawful
captive delivered?
But thus saith the LORD, Even the
captives of the mighty shall be
taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will
contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have
taken out of thine hand the cup of
trembling, even the
dregs of the cup of my
fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:
Thus says your Lord, the LORD, even your God, who defends His people: “See, I have removed from your hand the cup of
staggering. From that
goblet, the cup of My
fury, you will never drink again.
Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is
taken away for
nought? they that rule over them make them to
howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is
blasphemed.
And now what have I here? declares the LORD. For My people have been
taken without cause; those who rule them
taunt, declares the LORD, and My name is
blasphemed continually all day long.
He was
taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the
transgression of my people was he
stricken.
By oppression and judgment He was
taken away, and who can recount His descendants? For He was cut off from the land of the living; He was
stricken for the
transgression of My people.
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and
merciful men are
taken away, none considering that the righteous is
taken away from the evil to come.
The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart;
devout men are swept away, while no one considers that the righteous are guided from the presence of evil.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as
filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our
iniquities, like the wind, have
taken us away.
Each of us has become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our
iniquities carry us away like the wind.
They are
waxen fat, they
shine:
yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they
prosper; and the right of the
needy do they not judge.
They have grown fat and
sleek, and have
excelled in the deeds of the wicked. They have not
taken up the cause of the fatherless, that they might
prosper; nor have they defended the rights of the
needy.
Therefore I am full of the
fury of the LORD; I am
weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be
taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
But I am full of the LORD’s wrath; I am
tired of holding it back. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be captured, the old and the very old alike.
We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble:
anguish hath
taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in
travail.
We have heard the report; our hands
hang limp.
Anguish has gripped us, pain like that of a woman in labor.
The wise men are
ashamed, they are dismayed and
taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and
trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?
For the
hurt of the daughter of my people am I
hurt; I am black;
astonishment hath
taken hold on me.
For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am
crushed. I
mourn;
horror has gripped me.
Thou hast planted them,
yea, they have
taken root: they grow,
yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their
reins.
You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their hearts.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been
taken captive.
The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away
captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away
captive.
The cities of the Negev have been shut
tight, and no one can open them. All Judah has been carried into exile, wholly
taken captive.
Why shouldest thou be as a man
astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Why are You like a man
taken by surprise, like a
warrior powerless to save? Yet You are among us, O LORD, and we are called by Your name. Do not
forsake us!
For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of
mourning, neither go to
lament nor
bemoan them: for I have
taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and
mercies.
Indeed, this is what the LORD says: “Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal. Do not go to
mourn or show sympathy, for I have removed from this people My peace, My loving devotion, and My
compassion,” declares the LORD.
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be
taken to Babylon.
And of them shall be
taken up a
curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like
Zedekiah and like
Ahab, whom the king of Babylon
roasted in the fire;
Because of them, all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon will use this
curse: ‘May the LORD make you like
Zedekiah and
Ahab, whom the king of Babylon
roasted in the fire!’
And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
And you
yourself will not escape his
grasp, but will surely be captured and delivered into his hand. You will see the king of Babylon eye to eye and speak with him face to face; and you will go to Babylon.
But ye turned and
polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his
handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
But now you have changed your minds and
profaned My name. Each of you has
taken back the menservants and maidservants whom you had set at liberty to go wherever they wanted, and you have again forced them to be your slaves.
So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.
All your wives and children will be brought out to the Chaldeans. And you
yourself will not escape their
grasp, for you will be seized by the king of Babylon, and this city will be burned down.”
So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
And Jeremiah remained in the
courtyard of the guard until the day Jerusalem was captured.
But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook
Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho: and when they had
taken him, they brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them and overtook
Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho. They seized him and brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from
Ramah, when he had
taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away
captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away
captive unto Babylon.
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had released him at
Ramah, having found him bound in chains among all the
captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon.
As for me, behold, I will dwell at
Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have
taken.
As for me, I will stay in
Mizpah to represent you before the Chaldeans who come to us. As for you, gather wine grapes, summer fruit, and oil, place them in your
storage jars, and live in the cities you have
taken.”
So all the people that
Ishmael had carried away
captive from
Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
and all the people whom
Ishmael had
taken captive at
Mizpah turned and went over to Johanan son of Kareah.
Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel;
Woe unto
Nebo! for it is
spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and
taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
Concerning Moab, this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “
Woe to
Nebo, for it will be
devastated. Kiriathaim will be captured and disgraced; the fortress will be
shattered and
dismantled.
For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be
taken: and
Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.
Because you trust in your works and treasures, you too will be captured, and
Chemosh will go into exile with his priests and officials.
Joy and
gladness are removed from the
orchard and from the fields of Moab. I have stopped the flow of wine from the presses; no one treads them with shouts of joy; their shouts are not for joy.
Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Kirioth has been taken, and the strongholds seized. In that day the heart of Moab’s warriors will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be
taken in the
snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“
Whoever flees the
panic will fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For I will bring upon Moab the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
Woe to you, O Moab! The people of
Chemosh have perished; for your sons have been
taken into exile and your daughters have gone into captivity.
Concerning the
Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then
doth their king
inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
Concerning the
Ammonites, this is what the LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Is he without heir? Why then has Milcom
taken possession of
Gad? Why have his people settled in their cities?
Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath
taken against
Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations
desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against
Edom and the strategies He has devised against the people of Teman: Surely the little ones of the flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to
flee, and fear hath seized on her:
anguish and sorrows have
taken her, as a woman in
travail.
Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to
flee.
Panic has gripped her;
anguish and pain have seized her like a woman in labor.
Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath
taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
Run! Escape quickly! Lie low, O residents of Hazor,” declares the LORD, “for
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has drawn up a plan against you; he has devised a
strategy against you.
Declare ye among the nations, and
publish, and set up a standard;
publish, and
conceal not: say, Babylon is
taken,
Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
“
Announce and declare to the nations; lift up a
banner and
proclaim it; hold nothing back when you say, ‘Babylon is captured;
Bel is put to shame; Marduk is
shattered, her images are disgraced, her idols are broken in pieces.’
For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in
array against her; from thence she shall be
taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty
expert man; none shall return in vain.
For behold, I
stir up and bring against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the land of the north. They will line up against her; from the north she will be captured. Their arrows will be like skilled warriors who do not return empty-handed.
I have laid a
snare for thee, and thou art also
taken, O Babylon, and thou
wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast
striven against the LORD.
I laid a
snare for you, O Babylon, and you were caught before you knew it. You were found and captured because you
challenged the LORD.
Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath
taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their
habitation desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against Babylon and the strategies He has devised against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the little ones of the flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
One post shall run to meet another, and one
messenger to meet another, to
shew the king of Babylon that his city is
taken at one end,
How is Sheshach
taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an
astonishment among the nations!
How Sheshach has been captured! The praise of all the earth has been seized. What a
horror Babylon has become among the nations!
Because the
spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are
taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.
For a destroyer is coming against her— against Babylon. Her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken, for the LORD is a God of
retribution; He will repay in full.
And the king of Babylon
smote them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of
Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away
captive out of his own land.
There at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death. So Judah was
taken into exile, away from its own land.
In the three and
twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away
captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
in
Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away 745 Jews. So in all, 4,600 people were
taken away.
And he hath violently
taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden
booth; He has destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
The breath of our nostrils, the
anointed of the LORD, was
taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.
The LORD’s
anointed, the breath of our life, was captured in their pits. We had said of him, “Under his shadow we will live among the nations.”
My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be
taken in my
snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.
But I will spread My net over him, and he will be caught in My
snare. I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, and there he will die.
Shall wood be
taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to
hang any vessel
thereon?
Can wood be
taken from it to make something useful? Or can one make from it a
peg on which to
hang utensils?
Thou hast also
taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to
thyself images of men, and
didst commit
whoredom with them,
You also took the fine
jewelry of gold and silver I had given you, and you made male idols with which to
prostitute yourself.
