Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
There be many that say, Who will
shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up
the light of thy countenance upon us.
Many ask, “Who can show us
the good?”
Shine the light of Your face upon us, O LORD.
Thou hast put
gladness in my heart, more than in
the time that
their corn and
their wine increased.
You have filled my heart with more joy than when grain and new wine abound.
Hearken unto
the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto
thee will I pray.
Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
In
the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at
daybreak I lay my
plea before You and wait in expectation.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You
hate all workers of iniquity.
You destroy those who tell lies;
the LORD abhors
the man of
bloodshed and
deceit.
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
But I will enter Your house by the abundance of Your loving devotion; in reverence I will bow down toward Your holy temple.
For
there is no faithfulness in
their mouth;
their inward part is very wickedness;
their throat is an open
sepulchre;
they flatter with
their tongue.
For not a word
they speak can be trusted; destruction lies within
them.
Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice
deceit.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.
But let all those that put
their trust in
thee rejoice: let
them ever
shout for joy, because thou defendest
them: let
them also that love thy name be joyful in
thee.
But let all who take refuge in You
rejoice; let
them ever
shout for joy. May You shelter
them, that those who love Your name may
rejoice in You.
For thou, LORD,
wilt bless the righteous; with favour
wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
For surely You, O LORD,
bless the righteous; You
surround them with
the shield of Your favor.
For in death
there is no
remembrance of
thee: in
the grave who shall give
thee thanks?
For
there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from
Sheol?
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
My eyes fail from grief;
they grow
dim because of all my foes.
Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for
the LORD hath heard
the voice of my
weeping.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for
the LORD has heard my
weeping.
The LORD hath heard my
supplication;
the LORD will receive my prayer.
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
All my enemies will be
ashamed and dismayed;
they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
O Lord my God, in
thee do I put my trust: save me from all
them that
persecute me, and deliver me:
O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers,
Lest he
tear my soul like a lion,
rending it in pieces, while
there is none to deliver.
or
they will
shred my soul like a lion and
tear me to pieces with no one to
rescue me.
O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
O LORD my God, if I have done this, if injustice is on my hands,
Let
the enemy
persecute my soul, and take it;
yea, let him
tread down my life upon
the earth, and lay mine honour in
the dust.
Selah.
then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he
trample me to
the ground and leave my honor in
the dust.
Selah Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up
thyself because of
the rage of mine enemies: and
awake for me to
the judgment that thou hast commanded.
Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against
the fury of my enemies.
Awake, my God, and
ordain judgment.
So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
Let the assembled peoples gather around You; take Your seat over them on high.
The LORD shall judge
the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine
integrity that is in me.
The LORD judges
the peoples;
vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and
integrity.
Oh let
the wickedness of
the wicked come to an end; but establish
the just: for
the righteous God trieth
the hearts and
reins.
Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds.
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
God judgeth
the righteous, and God is
angry with
the wicked every day.
God is a righteous judge and a God who feels
indignation each day.
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
He has prepared His deadly weapons; He ordains His arrows with fire.
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth
falsehood.
Behold,
the wicked man travails with evil; he conceives trouble and births
falsehood.
He made a pit, and
digged it, and is fallen into
the ditch which he made.
He has
dug a hole and hollowed it out; he has fallen into a pit of his own making.
I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
I will
thank the LORD for His righteousness and sing praise to
the name of
the LORD Most High.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
O LORD, our Lord, how
majestic is Your name in all
the earth! You have set Your glory above
the heavens.
Out of
the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still
the enemy and
the avenger.
From
the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your
adversaries, to silence
the enemy and
avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet:
All sheep and oxen,
yea, and
the beasts of
the field;
all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,
The fowl of
the air, and
the fish of
the sea, and
whatsoever passeth through
the paths of
the seas.
the birds of
the air and
the fish of
the sea, all that
swim the paths of
the seas.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
O LORD, our Lord, how
majestic is Your name in all
the earth!
I will praise
thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will
shew forth all thy marvellous works.
I will give
thanks to
the LORD with all my heart; I will recount all Your wonders.
I will be
glad and
rejoice in
thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
I will be
glad and
rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
When my enemies retreat,
they stumble and perish before You.
For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
For You have
upheld my just cause; You sit on Your throne judging righteously.
Thou hast
rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed
the wicked, thou hast put out
their name for ever and ever.
You have
rebuked the nations; You have destroyed
the wicked; You have
erased their name
forever and ever.
O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities;
their memorial is perished with
them.
The enemy has come to eternal ruin, and You have uprooted
their cities;
the very memory of
them has
vanished.
But
the LORD shall
endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
But
the LORD abides
forever; He has established His throne for judgment.
And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
He judges
the world with justice; He governs
the people with
equity.
The LORD also will be a refuge for
the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
And
they that know thy name will put
their trust in
thee: for thou, LORD, hast not
forsaken them that seek
thee.
Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not
forsaken those who seek You.
Sing praises to
the LORD, which dwelleth in
Zion: declare among
the people his doings.
Sing praises to
the LORD, who dwells in
Zion;
proclaim His deeds among
the nations.
When he maketh
inquisition for blood, he remembereth
them: he forgetteth not
the cry of
the humble.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of
them that
hate me, thou that liftest me up from
the gates of death:
Be
merciful to me, O LORD; see how my enemies
afflict me! Lift me up from
the gates of death,
That I may
shew forth all thy praise in
the gates of
the daughter of
Zion: I will
rejoice in thy salvation.
that I may declare all Your praises— that within
the gates of Daughter
Zion I may
rejoice in Your salvation.
The heathen are sunk down in
the pit that
they made: in
the net which
they hid is
their own foot taken.
The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The LORD is known by
the judgment which he executeth:
the wicked is
snared in
the work of his own hands. Higgaion.
Selah.
The LORD is known by
the justice He brings;
the wicked are ensnared by
the work of
their hands. Higgaion
Selah The wicked shall be turned into
hell, and all
the nations that
forget God.
The wicked will return to
Sheol— all
the nations who
forget God.
For
the needy shall not
alway be forgotten:
the expectation of
the poor shall not perish for ever.
Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
Rise up, O LORD, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence.
Put
them in fear, O LORD: that
the nations may know
themselves to be but men.
Selah.
Lay terror upon
them, O LORD; let
the nations know
they are but men.
Selah The wicked in his pride
doth persecute the poor: let
them be taken in
the devices that
they have imagined.
In pride
the wicked pursue
the needy; let
them be caught in
the schemes
they devise.
For
the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth
the covetous, whom
the LORD abhorreth.
For
the wicked man boasts in
the cravings of his heart; he blesses
the greedy and reviles
the LORD.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
His ways are always
grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at
them.
He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.
He sitteth in
the lurking places of
the villages: in
the secret places
doth he murder
the innocent: his eyes are
privily set against
the poor.
He lies in wait near
the villages; in
ambush he slays
the innocent; his eyes watch in
stealth for
the helpless.
He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch
the poor: he
doth catch
the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
He lies in wait like a lion in a
thicket; he lurks to seize
the oppressed; he catches
the lowly in his net.
He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
They are
crushed and beaten down;
the hapless fall prey to his strength.
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand:
forget not
the humble.
Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God! Do not
forget the helpless.
Wherefore
doth the wicked
contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou
wilt not require it.
Why has
the wicked man
renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
But You have regarded trouble and grief; You see to repay it by Your hand.
The victim entrusts himself to You; You are
the helper of
the fatherless.
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Break
the arm of
the wicked and
evildoer; call him to account for his wickedness until none is left to be found.
The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
The LORD is King
forever and ever;
the nations perish from His land.
LORD, thou hast heard
the desire of
the humble: thou
wilt prepare
their heart, thou
wilt cause thine ear to hear:
You have heard, O LORD,
the desire of
the humble; You will
strengthen their hearts. You will
incline Your ear,
To judge
the fatherless and
the oppressed, that
the man of
the earth may no more
oppress.
to
vindicate the fatherless and
oppressed, that
the men of
the earth may strike terror no more.
In
the LORD put I my trust: How say ye to my soul,
Flee as a bird to your mountain?
In
the LORD I take refuge. How
then can you say to me: “
Flee like a bird to your mountain!
For, lo,
the wicked bend
their bow,
they make ready
their arrow upon
the string, that
they may
privily shoot at
the upright in heart.
For behold,
the wicked bend
their bows.
They set
their arrow on
the string to shoot from
the shadows at
the upright in heart.
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. His eyes are watching closely; they examine the sons of men.
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence.
Upon
the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and
brimstone, and an
horrible tempest: this shall be
the portion of
their cup.
On
the wicked He will rain down
fiery coals and sulfur; a
scorching wind will be
their portion.
For
the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance
doth behold
the upright.
For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face.
Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
Help, O LORD, for
the godly are no more;
the faithful have
vanished from among men.
They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with
flattering lips and with a double heart do
they speak.
They lie to one another;
they speak with
flattering lips and a double heart.
The LORD shall cut off all
flattering lips, and
the tongue that speaketh proud things:
Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
They say, “With our tongues we will prevail. We own our lips—who can be our master?”
For
the oppression of
the poor, for
the sighing of
the needy, now will I arise, saith
the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
“For
the cause of
the oppressed and for
the groaning of
the needy, I will now arise,” says
the LORD. “I will bring safety to him who yearns.”
The words of
the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
You, O LORD, will keep us; You will
forever guard us from this generation.
The wicked walk on every side, when
the vilest men are
exalted.
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God:
lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep
the sleep of death;
Consider me and
respond, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death,
I will sing unto
the LORD, because he hath dealt
bountifully with me.
I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.
The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God.
They are corrupt,
they have done
abominable works,
there is none that doeth good.
The fool says in his heart, “
There is no God.”
They are corrupt;
their acts are
vile.
There is no one who does good.
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
They are all gone aside,
they are all together become
filthy:
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
Will
the workers of iniquity never learn?
They devour my people like bread;
they refuse to call upon
the LORD.
There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
There they are,
overwhelmed with
dread, for God is in
the company of
the righteous.
Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
Oh that
the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! when
the LORD bringeth back
the captivity of his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that
the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When
the LORD restores His
captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He who walks with
integrity and practices righteousness, who speaks
the truth from his heart,
