In whose eyes a
vile person is
contemned; but he honoureth
them that fear
the LORD. He that sweareth to his own
hurt, and changeth not.
who despises
the vile but honors those who fear
the LORD, who does not
revise a costly oath,
He that putteth not out his money to
usury, nor taketh reward against
the innocent. He that doeth
these things shall never be moved.
who
lends his money without interest and refuses a
bribe against
the innocent. He who does
these things will never be
shaken.
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge.
O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”
But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god:
their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up
their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will not pour out
their libations of blood, or speak
their names with my lips.
The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure.
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;
yea, I have a goodly
heritage.
The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; surely my inheritance is delightful.
I will
bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my
reins also
instruct me in
the night seasons.
I will
bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I have set
the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be
shaken.
Therefore my heart is
glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
Therefore my heart is
glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely.
Thou
wilt shew me
the path of life: in thy presence is
fulness of joy; at thy right hand
there are pleasures for
evermore.
You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
Hear
the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of
feigned lips.
Hear, O LORD, my righteous
plea;
listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer— it comes from lips free of
deceit.
Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
May my
vindication come from Your presence; may Your eyes see what is right.
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in
the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not
transgress.
You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and found no evil; I have resolved not to sin with my mouth.
Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
As for the deeds of men— by the word of Your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
I have called upon
thee, for thou
wilt hear me, O God:
incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
I call on You, O God, for You will answer me.
Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand
them which put
their trust in
thee from those that rise up against
them.
Show the wonders of Your loving devotion, You who save by Your right hand those who seek refuge from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings
From
the wicked that
oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
They have
tracked us down, and now
surround us;
their eyes are set to cast us to
the ground,
Arise, O LORD,
disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from
the wicked, which is thy sword:
Arise, O LORD,
confront them! Bring
them to
their knees; deliver me from
the wicked by Your sword,
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of
the world, which have
their portion in this life, and whose
belly thou fillest with thy
hid treasure:
they are full of children, and leave
the rest of
their substance to
their babes.
from such men, O LORD, by Your hand— from men of
the world whose portion is in this life. May You fill
the bellies of Your
treasured ones and satisfy
their sons, so
they leave
their abundance to
their children.
I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
I love You, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my
buckler, and
the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and
the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
The sorrows of
hell compassed me about:
the snares of death prevented me.
In my distress I called upon
the LORD, and
cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
In my distress I called upon
the LORD; I
cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for His help reached His ears.
Then the earth
shook and
quaked, and
the foundations of
the mountains
trembled;
they were
shaken because He burned with anger.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth
devoured: coals were
kindled by it.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.
And he
rode upon a
cherub, and did fly:
yea, he did fly upon
the wings of
the wind.
He made darkness his secret place; his
pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of
the skies.
He made darkness His hiding place, and storm clouds a
canopy around Him.
At
the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed,
hail stones and coals of fire.
From the brightness of His presence His clouds advanced— hailstones and coals of fire.
The LORD also
thundered in
the heavens, and
the Highest gave his voice;
hail stones and coals of fire.
The LORD
thundered from heaven;
the voice of
the Most High resounded— hailstones and coals of fire.
Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered
them; and he shot out lightnings, and
discomfited them.
He shot His arrows and scattered
the foes; He
hurled lightning and routed
them.
Then the channels of waters were seen, and
the foundations of
the world were discovered at thy
rebuke, O LORD, at
the blast of
the breath of thy nostrils.
The channels of
the sea appeared, and
the foundations of
the world were exposed, at Your
rebuke, O LORD, at
the blast of
the breath of Your nostrils.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from
them which
hated me: for
they were too strong for me.
He
rescued me from my powerful enemy, from foes too mighty for me.
They prevented me in
the day of my
calamity: but
the LORD was my stay.
He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
He brought me out into
the open; He
rescued me because He delighted in me.
The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to
the cleanness of my hands hath he
recompensed me.
The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; He has repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.
Therefore hath
the LORD
recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to
the cleanness of my hands in his
eyesight.
So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God lights up my darkness.
For by
thee I have run through a
troop; and by my God have I
leaped over a wall.
For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can scale a wall.
As for God, his way is perfect:
the word of
the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all those that trust in him.
As for God, His way is perfect;
the word of
the LORD is
flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?
He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
He makes my feet like those of a deer and stations me upon the heights.
Thou hast also given me
the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath
holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
You have given me Your shield of salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness exalts me.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
You
broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do not give way.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were consumed.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
I
crushed them so
they could not rise;
they have fallen under my feet.
For thou hast
girded me with strength unto
the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
You have armed me with strength for battle; You have subdued my foes beneath me.
Thou hast also given me
the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy
them that
hate me.
You have made my enemies retreat before me; I put an end to those who
hated me.
They cried, but
there was none to save
them: even unto
the LORD, but he answered
them not.
They cried for help, but
there was no one to save
them— to
the LORD, but He did not answer.
Then did I beat
them small as
the dust before
the wind: I did cast
them out as
the dirt in
the streets.
I ground
them as dust in
the face of
the wind; I
trampled them like mud in
the streets.
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
You have delivered me from
the strife of
the people; You have made me
the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.
As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
When they hear me, they obey me; foreigners cower before me.
The strangers shall
fade away, and be afraid out of
their close places.
Foreigners lose heart and come
trembling from
their strongholds.
The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let
the God of my salvation be
exalted.
The LORD lives, and blessed be my Rock! And may
the God of my salvation be
exalted—
It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
the God who avenges me and subdues nations beneath me,
He delivereth me from mine enemies:
yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from
the violent man.
who delivers me from my enemies. You
exalt me above my foes; You
rescue me from violent men.
Therefore will I give
thanks unto
thee, O LORD, among
the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.
The heavens declare
the glory of God; and
the firmament sheweth his handywork.
The heavens declare
the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
Day after day
they pour forth speech; night after night
they reveal knowledge.
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,
Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.
His going forth is from
the end of
the heaven, and his circuit unto
the ends of it: and
there is nothing
hid from
the heat
thereof.
it rises at one end of
the heavens and runs its circuit to
the other; nothing is deprived of its
warmth.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The Law of
the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of
the LORD is
trustworthy, making wise
the simple.
The statutes of
the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of
the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The precepts of
the LORD are right, bringing joy to
the heart;
the commandments of
the LORD are
radiant, giving light to
the eyes.
The fear of
the LORD is clean,
enduring for ever:
the judgments of
the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
The fear of
the LORD is pure,
enduring forever;
the judgments of
the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.
More to be desired are
they than gold,
yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and
the honeycomb.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey, than honey from
the comb.
Moreover by
them is thy servant
warned: and in keeping of
them there is great reward.
By
them indeed Your servant is
warned; in keeping
them is great reward.
Keep back thy servant also from
presumptuous sins; let
them not have dominion over me:
then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from
the great
transgression.
Let
the words of my mouth, and
the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my
redeemer.
May
the words of my mouth and
the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my
Redeemer.
The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May He send you help from
the sanctuary and
sustain you from
Zion.
Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
May He give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
We will
rejoice in thy salvation, and in
the name of our God we will set up our banners:
the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
May we
shout for joy at your victory and raise a
banner in
the name of our God. May
the LORD grant all your petitions.
Now know I that
the LORD saveth his
anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with
the saving strength of his right hand.
Now I know that
the LORD saves His
anointed; He answers him from His holy heaven with
the saving power of His right hand.
Some trust in
chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember
the name of
the LORD our God.
Some trust in
chariots and others in horses, but we trust in
the name of
the LORD our God.
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
They collapse and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.
O LORD, save the king. Answer us on the day we call.
The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he
rejoice!
O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength. How greatly he exults in Your salvation!
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not
withholden the request of his lips.
Selah.
You have granted his heart’s desire and have not
withheld the request of his lips.
Selah For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
For You
welcomed him with rich blessings; You placed on his head a crown of pure gold.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
He asked You for life, and You granted it— length of days,
forever and ever.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
For
the king trusts in
the LORD; through
the loving devotion of
the Most High, he will not be
shaken.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that
hate thee.
Your hand will
apprehend all Your enemies; Your right hand will seize those who
hate You.
Thou shalt make
them as a
fiery oven in
the time of thine anger:
the LORD shall
swallow them up in his wrath, and
the fire shall
devour them.
You will place
them in a
fiery furnace at
the time of Your appearing. In His wrath
the LORD will
engulf them, and
the fire will
consume them.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
You will
wipe their descendants from
the earth, and
their offspring from
the sons of men.
For
they intended evil against
thee:
they imagined a
mischievous device, which
they are not able to perform.
Though
they intend You
harm,
the schemes
they devise will not prevail.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
For You will put them to flight when Your bow is trained upon them.
My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from
the words of my
roaring?
My God, my God, why have You
forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from my words of
groaning?
O my God, I cry in
the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in
the night season, and am not silent.
I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest.
