alarmed to hear that Paul and
Silas were Roman citizens.
And when they opposed themselves, and
blasphemed, he
shook his
raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

insulted him, he
shook out his garments and
told them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

wrongdoing or
vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to hear your
complaint.
Then said Paul, John
verily baptized with the baptism of
repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

repentance. He

And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
Then I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ ‘Get up and go into Damascus,’ He told me. ‘There you will be told all that you have been appointed to do.’

centurion heard that, he went and

And when it was
told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent
straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him.
Farewell.
When I was informed that there was a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also
instructed his accusers to present their case against him before you.
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
I told them that it is not the Roman custom to hand a man over before he has had an opportunity to face his accusers and defend himself against their charges.
Wherefore, sirs, be of good
cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was
told me.

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the
fulness thereof:
But if someone tells you, “This food was offered to idols,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience—
and not only by his arrival, but also by the comfort he had received from you. He
told us about your longing, your
mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I
rejoiced all the more.
I
told you before, and
foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which
heretofore have
sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not
spare:
Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also
told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God.
(For many walk, of whom I have
told you often, and now tell you even
weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
For
verily, when we were with you, we
told you before that we should suffer
tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
Indeed, when we were with you, we kept
warning you that we would suffer persecution; and as you know, it has come to pass.
and no one should ever
violate or
exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord will
avenge all such acts, as we have already
told you and solemnly
warned you.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?
For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having
itching ears;

tolerate sound doctrine, but with
itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy
patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
I know your deeds, your labor, and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles.
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman
Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach and to
seduce my servants to commit
fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
But I have this against you: You
tolerate that woman
Jezebel, who calls herself a
prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants to be sexually immoral and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

told to rest a little while longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.
And it was commanded them that they should not
hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

told me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who
rely on the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Alpha and
Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is

And He
told me, “It is done! I am the
Alpha and the
Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the
thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life.

told thee shall escape, and see my salvation, and the end of your world.
And it came to pass after this, that I
wept again, and fasted seven days in like manner, that I might fulfil the three weeks which he
told me.
Behold, the time shall come, that these
tokens which I have
told thee shall come to pass, and the
bride shall appear, and she coming forth shall be seen, that now is withdrawn from the earth.
He answered me then, and said, Measure thou the time
diligently in itself: and when thou seest part of the signs past, which I have
told thee before,
And whereas she told thee of the death of her son, this is the solution:
And whereas she
told thee that she
nourished him with labour: that was the dwelling in Jerusalem.
And
told him many
wondrous things, and shewed him the secrets of the times, and the end; and commanded him, saying,
The Highest gave understanding unto the five men, and they wrote the wonderful visions of the night that were

ate bread.
And came forth, and told them that he was alive.
For thou hast
scourged, and hast taken
pity on me: for, behold, I see my son Tobias. And his son went in

And I will lead thee through the midst of
Judea, until thou come before Jerusalem; and I will set thy throne in the midst thereof; and thou shalt drive them as sheep that have no
shepherd, and a dog shall not so much as open his mouth at thee: for these things were
told me according to my
foreknowledge, and they were declared unto me, and I am sent to tell thee.
Now when the children of Israel heard it, they all fell upon them with one consent, and
slew them unto Chobai: likewise also they that came from Jerusalem, and from all the hill country, (for men had
told them what things were done in the camp of their enemies) and they that were in Galaad, and in
Galilee,
chased them with a great slaughter, until they were past Damascus and the borders thereof.
Rehearse not unto another that which is
told unto thee, and thou shalt
fare never the worse.
He that telleth a tale to a
fool speaketh to one in a
slumber: when he hath
told his tale, he will say, What is the matter?
My son, hear me, and
despise me not, and at the last thou shalt find as I
told thee: in all thy works be quick, so shall there no sickness come unto thee.
Now when it was told the king’s servants, and the host that was at Jerusalem, in the city of David, that certain men, who had broken the king’s commandment, were gone down into the secret places in the wilderness,
Now all the strangers that had escaped came and
told Lysias what had happened:
Where they met with the Nabathites, who came unto them in a peaceable manner, and told them every thing that had happened to their brethren in the land of Galaad:
And that they were men of great valour. It was
told him also of their wars and noble acts which they had done among the
Galatians, and how they had conquered them, and brought them under tribute;
It was told him besides, how they destroyed and brought under their dominion all other kingdoms and isles that at any time resisted them;
Now when king Alexander had heard what promises
Demetrius had sent unto
Jonathan: when also it was
told him of the battles and noble acts which he and his brethren had done, and of the pains that they had
endured,
Also they
told the king
whatsoever Jonathan had done, to the intent he might
blame him: but the king held his peace.
Then came ungodly persons, who
hated their own people, went unto the king, and
told him that
Jonathan besieged the tower,
And lay
sore upon him to deliver him this young
Antiochus, that he might reign in his father’s
stead: he
told him therefore all that
Demetrius had done, and how his men of war were at
enmity with him, and there he remained a long season.
He sent
spies also unto their tents, who came again, and
told him that they were appointed to come upon them in the night season.
So Athenobius the king’s friend came to Jerusalem: and when he saw the glory of Simon, and the

Now one had run
afore to Gazera and
told John that his father and brethren were slain, and,
quoth he, Ptolemee hath sent to
slay thee also.
Now after many years, when it pleased God, Neemias, being sent from the king of Persia, did send of the
posterity of those priests that had
hid it to the fire: but when they
told us they found no fire, but thick water;
So when this matter was known, it was
told the king of Persia, that in the place, where the priests that were led away had
hid the fire, there appeared water, and that Neemias had
purified the sacrifices
therewith.
And
told him that the treasury in Jerusalem was full of infinite sums of money, so that the multitude of their riches, which did not
pertain to the account of the sacrifices, was innumerable, and that it was possible to bring all into the king’s hand.
And when he was come to Jerusalem, and had been
courteously received of the high priest of the city, he
told him what intelligence was given of the money, and declared wherefore he came, and asked if these things were so indeed.
Then the high priest told him that there was such money laid up for the relief of widows and fatherless children:
Insomuch that he discharged
Menelaus from the accusations, who notwithstanding was cause of all the mischief: and those poor men, who, if they had
told their cause,

And he
told them of the battle that they had in Babylon with the

In the hundred forty and ninth year it was
told Judas, that
Antiochus Eupator was coming with a great power into
Judea,
But Alcimus, perceiving the love that was
betwixt them, and considering the covenants that were made, came to
Demetrius, and
told him that Nicanor was not well affected toward the state; for that he had ordained
Judas, a
traitor to his realm, to be the king’s successor.
Thus he armed every one of them, not so much with defence of shields and spears, as with comfortable and good words: and beside that, he
told them a dream worthy to be believed, as if it had been so indeed, which did not a little
rejoice them.
