And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the
wicked, and I will
redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
The heart is
deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be
ashamed and confounded for all thy
wickedness.
The wind will drive away all your
shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity. Then you will be
ashamed and
humiliated because of all your
wickedness.
For both prophet and priest are
profane;
yea, in my house have I found their
wickedness, saith the LORD.
“For both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in My house I have found their wickedness,” declares the LORD.
I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an
horrible thing: they commit
adultery, and walk in lies: they
strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none
doth return from his
wickedness: they are all of them unto me as
Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as
Gomorrah.
And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a
horrible thing: They commit
adultery and walk in lies. They
strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns his back on
wickedness. They are all like
Sodom to Me; the people of Jerusalem are like
Gomorrah.”
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with
fury, a
whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the
wicked.
A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will
plead with all flesh; he will give them that are
wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
The
tumult will resound to the ends of the earth because the LORD brings a charge against the nations. He brings judgment on all mankind and puts the
wicked to the sword,’” declares the LORD.
Behold, the
whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with
fury, a continuing
whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the
wicked.
Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone out with
fury, a
whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the
wicked.
They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my
fury, and for all whose
wickedness I have
hid my face from this city.
The Chaldeans are coming to fight and to fill those places with the corpses of the men I will strike down in My anger and in My wrath. I have hidden My face from this city because of all its wickedness.
I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and
amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor
hearkened unto me.
Again and again I have sent you all My servants the prophets,
proclaiming: ‘Turn now, each of you, from your
wicked ways, and correct your actions. Do not go after other gods to serve them. Live in the land that I have given to you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear or
listened to Me.
It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may
forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about all the
calamity I plan to bring upon them, each of them will turn from his
wicked way. Then I will
forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
It may be they will present their
supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the
fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
Perhaps they will bring their petition before the LORD, and each one will turn from his
wicked way; for great are the anger and
fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the
dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
“My lord the king, these men have acted
wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have dropped him into the
cistern, where he will
starve to death, for there is no more bread in the city.”
Because of their
wickedness which they have committed to
provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
because of the evil they have done. They
provoked Me to anger by continuing to burn incense and to serve other gods that neither they nor you nor your fathers ever knew.
But they
hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their
wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
But they did not
listen or
incline their ears; they did not turn from their
wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods.
Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers and of the kings of Judah and their wives, as well as the wickedness that you and your wives committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the
snuffers, and the
bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass
wherewith they ministered, took they away.
They also took away the pots, shovels,
wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls, dishes, and all the articles of bronze used in the temple service.
Let all their
wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is
faint.
Let all their
wickedness come before You, and deal with them as You have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and my heart is
faint.
When I say unto the
wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not
warning, nor speakest to
warn the
wicked from his
wicked way, to save his life; the same
wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
If I say to the
wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ but you do not
warn him or speak out to
warn him from his
wicked way to save his life, that
wicked man will die in his iniquity, and I will hold you responsible for his blood.
Yet if thou
warn the
wicked, and he turn not from his
wickedness, nor from his
wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
But if you
warn a
wicked man and he does not turn from his
wickedness and his
wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved
yourself.
And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
But she has rebelled against My ordinances more wickedly than the nations, and against My statutes worse than the countries around her. For her people have rejected My ordinances and have not walked in My statutes.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say,
Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the
pestilence.
This is what the Lord GOD says:
Clap your hands,
stomp your feet, and cry out “
Alas!” because of all the
wicked abominations of the house of Israel, who will fall by sword and famine and plague.
Violence is risen up into a rod of
wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be
wailing for them.
Their violence has grown into a rod to
punish their
wickedness. None of them will remain: none of their multitude, none of their wealth, and nothing of value.
And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the
wicked of the earth for a
spoil; and they shall
pollute it.
And I will hand these things over as
plunder to foreigners and
loot to the
wicked of the earth, who will
defile them.
Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the
pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be
defiled.
So I will bring the most
wicked of nations to take possession of their houses. I will end the pride of the mighty, and their holy places will be
profaned.
And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
Then He said to me, “Go in and see the
wicked abominations they are
committing here.”
Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that
devise mischief, and give
wicked counsel in this city:
And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked counsel in this city.
Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous
sad, whom I have not made
sad; and strengthened the hands of the
wicked, that he should not return from his
wicked way, by promising him life:
Because you have
disheartened the righteous with your lies, even though I have caused them no grief, and because you have encouraged the
wicked not to turn from their evil ways to save their lives,
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
“Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put
wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I
consult with them in any way?
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
Therefore speak to them and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When any
Israelite sets up idols in his heart and puts a
wicked stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet, I the LORD will answer him according to his great
idolatry,
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to
enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
For when any
Israelite or any foreigner dwelling in Israel separates himself from Me, sets up idols in his heart, and puts a
wicked stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me, I the LORD will answer him Myself.
And it came to pass after all thy
wickedness, (
woe,
woe unto thee! saith the Lord GOD;)
Woe!
Woe to you, declares the Lord GOD. And in addition to all your other
wickedness,
Before thy
wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which
despise thee round about.
before your
wickedness was uncovered? Even so, you are now
scorned by the daughters of
Edom and all those around her, and by the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who
despise you.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
But if the wicked man turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
Do I take any pleasure in the death of the
wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I
prefer that he turn from his ways and live?
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the
wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his
trespass that he hath
trespassed, and in his sin that he hath
sinned, in them shall he die.
But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity,
committing the same abominations as the
wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die.
Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
But if a wicked man turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Then you will know, O house of Israel, that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for the sake of My name and not according to your wicked ways and corrupt acts, declares the Lord GOD.”
And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his
sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the
wicked.
and tell her that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am against you, and I will draw My sword from its
sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the
wicked.
Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the
wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his
sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
Because I will cut off both the righteous and the
wicked, My sword will be
unsheathed against
everyone from south to north.
And thou,
profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
And you, O
profane and
wicked prince of Israel, the day has come for your final punishment.’
Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.
while they offer false visions for you and lying divinations about you— to be placed on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, the time of their final punishment.
And one hath committed
abomination with his neighbour’s wife; and another hath
lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father’s daughter.
One man commits an
abomination with his
neighbor’s wife; another
wickedly defiles his daughter-in-law; and yet another
violates his sister, his own father’s daughter.
Thou
wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou
wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
From the day you were created you were
blameless in your ways— until
wickedness was found in you.
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.
I will make the streams dry up and sell the land to the
wicked. By the hands of foreigners I will bring
desolation upon the land and everything in it. I, the LORD, have spoken.
I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
I delivered it into the hand of the ruler of the nations, for him to deal with it according to its wickedness. I have banished it.
When I say unto the
wicked, O
wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou
dost not speak to
warn the
wicked from his way, that
wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
If I say to the
wicked, ‘O
wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to
dissuade him from his way, then that
wicked man will die in his iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood.
Nevertheless, if thou
warn the
wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
But if you
warn the
wicked man to turn from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his
transgression: as for the
wickedness of the
wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his
wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his
transgression; neither will the
wickedness of the
wicked man cause him to
stumble on the day he turns from his
wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be able to
survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.’
Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
But if I tell the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and does what is just and right—
If the
wicked restore the
pledge, give again that he had
robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without
committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
if he restores a
pledge, makes
restitution for what he has
stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without practicing iniquity—then he will surely live; he will not die.
But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
But if a wicked man turns from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live because of this.
Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall
lothe yourselves in your own sight for your
iniquities and for your abominations.
We have
sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done
wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
we have
sinned and done wrong. We have acted
wickedly and rebelled. We have turned away from Your commandments and ordinances.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done
wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted
wickedly.
And such as do
wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by
flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
With
flattery he will corrupt those who
violate the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.
Many shall be
purified, and made white, and tried; but the
wicked shall do
wickedly: and none of the
wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Many will be
purified, made spotless, and refined, but the
wicked will continue to act
wickedly. None of the
wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
When I would have
healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the
wickedness of Samaria: for they commit
falsehood; and the
thief cometh in, and the
troop of robbers spoileth without.
When I
heal Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim will be exposed, as well as the crimes of Samaria. For they practice
deceit and
thieves break in;
bandits raid in the streets.
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their
wickedness: now their own doings have
beset them about; they are before my face.
But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
They make the king
glad with their
wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.
All their
wickedness is in
Gilgal: for there I
hated them: for the
wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
All their evil appears at
Gilgal, for there I
hated them. I will drive them from My house for the
wickedness of their deeds. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are
rebellious.
Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have
reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou
didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
You have
plowed wickedness and
reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your mighty men,
So shall
Bethel do unto you because of your great
wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
Thus it will be done to you, O
Bethel, because of your great
wickedness. When the day dawns, the king of Israel will be utterly cut off.
Put ye in the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their
wickedness is great.
Swing the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come,
trample the grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their
wickedness is great.
Arise, go to
Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their
wickedness is come up before me.
“Get up! Go to the great city of
Nineveh and
preach against it, because its
wickedness has come up before Me.”
Are there yet the treasures of
wickedness in the house of the
wicked, and the
scant measure that is
abominable?
Can I
forget any longer, O house of the
wicked, the treasures of
wickedness and the short
ephah, which is
accursed?
Shall I count them pure with the
wicked balances, and with the
bag of
deceitful weights?
The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all
acquit the
wicked: the LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the
wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the
wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly cut off.
There is no
healing of thy
bruise; thy wound is
grievous: all that hear the
bruit of thee shall
clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy
wickedness passed continually?
There is no
healing for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news of you
applaud your
downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
Therefore the law is
slacked, and judgment
doth never go forth: for the
wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
Therefore the law is
paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the
wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is
perverted.
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal
treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the
wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot
tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You
tolerate the faithless? Why are You silent while the
wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine
anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the
wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck.
Selah.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people, to save Your
anointed. You
crushed the head of the house of the
wicked and
stripped him from head to
toe.
Selah I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the
wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their
wicked worshipers. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
And he said, This is
wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the
ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
“This is
Wickedness,” he said. And he
shoved her down into the
basket,
pushing down the lead cover over its opening.
Whereas
Edom saith, We are
impoverished, but we will return and build the
desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of
wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath
indignation for ever.
Though
Edom may say, “We have been
devastated, but we will rebuild the ruins,” this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “They may build, but I will
demolish. They will be called the Land of
Wickedness, and a people with whom the LORD is
indignant forever.
And now we call the proud happy;
yea, they that work
wickedness are set up;
yea, they that
tempt God are even delivered.
So now we call the
arrogant blessed. Not only do evildoers
prosper, they even test God and escape.’”
Then shall ye return, and
discern between the righteous and the
wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an
oven; and all the proud,
yea, and all that do
wickedly, shall be
stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the
arrogant and every
evildoer will be
stubble; the day is coming when I will set them
ablaze,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Not a root or branch will be left to them.”
And ye shall
tread down the
wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
Then you will
trample the
wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the LORD of Hosts.
A
bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not
quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and
adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet
Jonas:
Jesus replied, “A
wicked and
adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of the prophet
Jonah.
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more
wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final
plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this
wicked generation.”
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
When
anyone hears the message of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
The field is the world, and the good seed represents the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,
So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and
sever the
wicked from among the just,
So will it be at the end of the age: The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous,
A
wicked and
adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet
Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
A
wicked and
adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of
Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou
wicked servant, I
forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You
wicked servant! I
forgave all your debt because you
begged me.
They say unto him, He will
miserably destroy those
wicked men, and will let out his
vineyard unto other
husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
“He will bring those wretches to a
wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the
vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”
But Jesus perceived their
wickedness, and said, Why
tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
But Jesus knew their evil intent and said, “You hypocrites, why are you testing Me?
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of
hypocrisy and iniquity.
In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of
hypocrisy and
wickedness.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Because of the
multiplication of
wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’
His lord answered and said unto him, Thou
wicked and
slothful servant, thou knewest that I
reap where I
sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
‘You
wicked,
lazy servant!’ replied his master. ‘You knew that I
reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed.
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the
unthankful and to the evil.
But love your enemies, do good to them, and
lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the
ungrateful and
wicked.
Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more
wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final
plight of that man is worse than the first.”
