Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not
prosper in them.
Moreover, you will leave that place with your hands on your head, for the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not
prosper by their help.”
They are
waxen fat, they
shine:
yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they
prosper; and the right of the
needy do they not judge.
They have grown fat and
sleek, and have
excelled in the deeds of the wicked. They have not taken up the cause of the fatherless, that they might
prosper; nor have they defended the rights of the
needy.
Yea, the
stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the
turtle and the
crane and the
swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
Even the
stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons. The
turtledove, the swift, and the
thrush keep their time of
migration, but My people do not know the requirements of the LORD.
And there shall be no
remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the
year of their
visitation.
There will be no
remnant, for I will bring
disaster on the people of Anathoth in the
year of their punishment.”
Thou hast planted them,
yea, they have taken root: they grow,
yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their
reins.
You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their hearts.
For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt
treacherously with thee;
yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.
Even your brothers— your own father’s household— even they have
betrayed you; even they have
cried aloud against you. Do not trust them, though they speak well of you.
Yea, the hind also
calved in the field, and
forsook it, because there was no grass.
Even the
doe in the field deserts her
newborn fawn because there is no grass.
If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
If I go out to the country, I see those slain by the sword; if I enter the city, I see those
ravaged by famine! For both prophet and priest travel to a land they do not know.’”
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the
year of
drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
He is like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It does not
worry in a
year of
drought, nor does it cease to produce fruit.
For both prophet and priest are
profane;
yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.
“For both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in My house I have found their wickedness,” declares the LORD.
Wherefore their way shall be unto them as
slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the
year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“Therefore their path will become
slick; they will be driven away into the darkness and fall into it. For I will bring
disaster upon them in the
year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that
prophesy lies?
yea, they are prophets of the
deceit of their own heart;
How long will this continue in the hearts of these prophets who
prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the
delusion of their own minds?
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, that was the first
year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;
This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, which was the first
year of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
From the
thirteenth year of
Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and
twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not
hearkened.
“From the
thirteenth year of
Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very day—twenty-three
years—the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not
listened.
And this whole land shall be a
desolation, and an
astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy
years.
And this whole land will become a
desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy
years.
And it shall come to pass, when seventy
years are accomplished, that I will
punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
But when seventy
years are complete, I will
punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their guilt, declares the LORD, and I will make it an
everlasting desolation.
Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
Yes, this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says about the articles that remain in the house of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem:
And it came to pass the same
year, in the beginning of the reign of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth
year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of
Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
In the fifth month of that same
year, the fourth
year, near the beginning of the reign of King
Zedekiah of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from
Gibeon, said to me in the house of the LORD in the presence of the priests and all the people:
Within two full
years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:
Within two
years I will restore to this place all the articles of the house of the LORD that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and carried to Babylon.
And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full
years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
And in the presence of all the people Hananiah proclaimed, “This is what the LORD says: ‘In this way, within two
years I will break the yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon off the neck of all the nations.’” At this, Jeremiah the prophet went on his way.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. You will die this year because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.’”
So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
And in the seventh month of that very year, the prophet Hananiah died.
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
For this is what the LORD says: “When Babylon’s seventy
years are complete, I will attend to you and
confirm My promise to restore you to this place.
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an
everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an
everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion.
Surely after that I was turned, I
repented; and after that I was
instructed, I
smote upon my
thigh: I was
ashamed,
yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
Is Ephraim my
dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my
bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.
Is not Ephraim a precious son to Me, a delightful child? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore My heart
yearns for him; I have great
compassion for him,” declares the LORD.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth
year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the
eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
Yea, I will
rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land
assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
Yes, I will
rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
At the end of seven
years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six
years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers
hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.
Every seventh
year, each of you must free his Hebrew brother who has sold himself to you. He may serve you six
years, but then you must let him go free. But your fathers did not
listen or
incline their ear.
And it came to pass in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
In the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
And it came to pass in the fifth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
Now in the ninth month of the fifth
year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, a fast before the LORD was proclaimed to all the people of Jerusalem and all who had come there from the cities of Judah.
In the ninth
year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
In the ninth
year of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army and laid siege to the city.
And in the
eleventh year of
Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
And on the ninth day of the fourth month of
Zedekiah’s
eleventh year, the city was breached.
The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto
Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, saying,
This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to
Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a
scroll at the
dictation of Jeremiah in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah, king of Judah:
Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaoh-
necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon
smote in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah.
concerning Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River by
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth
year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah:
He made many to fall,
yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our
nativity, from the
oppressing sword.
They continue to
stumble; indeed, they have fallen over one another. They say, ‘Get up! Let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, away from the sword of the
oppressor.’
From the cry of
Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an
heifer of three
years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be
desolate.
There is a cry from
Heshbon to Elealeh; they raise their voices to Jahaz, from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah; for even the waters of Nimrim have dried up.
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the
year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“
Whoever flees the
panic will fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For I will bring upon Moab the
year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
And I will
punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath
swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him:
yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
I will
punish Bel in Babylon. I will make him
spew out what he
swallowed. The nations will no longer stream to him; even the wall of Babylon will fall.
And lest your heart
faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one
year, and after that in another
year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
Do not let your heart grow
faint, and do not be afraid when the
rumor is heard in the land; for a
rumor will come one
year— and then another the next
year— of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler.
The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with
Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth
year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.
This is the message that Jeremiah the prophet gave to the
quartermaster Seraiah son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went to Babylon with King
Zedekiah of Judah in the fourth
year of
Zedekiah’s reign.
Zedekiah was one and twenty
years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven
years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of
Libnah.
Zedekiah was twenty-one
years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven
years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from
Libnah.
And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.
So in the ninth
year of
Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army. They
encamped outside the city and built a siege wall all around it.
Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the
nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
On the tenth day of the fifth month, in the
nineteenth year of
Nebuchadnezzar’s reign over Babylon, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.
This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away
captive: in the seventh
year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:
These are the people
Nebuchadnezzar carried away: in the seventh
year, 3,023 Jews;
In the
eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away
captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons:
In the three and
twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away
captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
in
Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third
year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away 745 Jews. So in all, 4,600 people were taken away.
And it came to pass in the seven and
thirtieth year of the captivity of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the
twelfth month, in the five and
twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the first
year of his reign lifted up the head of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison,
On the twenty-fifth day of the
twelfth month of the thirty-seventh
year of the exile of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the first
year of the reign of Evil-merodach king of Babylon, he
pardoned Jehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.
Jerusalem hath
grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her
despise her, because they have seen her nakedness:
yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
Jerusalem has
sinned greatly; therefore she has become an object of
scorn. All who honored her now
despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns away.
Now it came to pass in the
thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the
captives by the river of
Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
In the
thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the River Kebar, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God.
In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth
year of king
Jehoiachin’s captivity,
On the fifth day of the month—it was the fifth
year of the exile of King
Jehoiachin—
For I have laid upon thee the
years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and
ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
For I have assigned to you 390 days, according to the number of years of their iniquity. So you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
When you have completed these days, lie down again, but on your right side, and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah. I have assigned to you 40 days, a day for each year.
So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land
desolate,
yea, more
desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will stretch out My hand against them, and wherever they live I will make the land a
desolate waste, from the wilderness to Diblah. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”
And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.
In the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me; and there the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me.
Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he
seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.
“Son of man, take note that the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many years from now; he prophesies about the distant future.’
And when I passed by thee, and saw thee
polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou
wast in thy blood, Live;
yea, I said unto thee when thou
wast in thy blood, Live.
Then I passed by and saw you
wallowing in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, ‘Live!’ There I said to you, ‘Live!’
Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my
skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness:
yea, I
sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.
Then I passed by and saw you, and you were indeed old enough for love. So I spread My
cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I
pledged Myself to you, entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine, declares the Lord GOD.
Then washed I thee with water;
yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I
anointed thee with oil.
Then I bathed you with water,
rinsed off your blood, and
anointed you with oil.
Thou hast played the
whore also with the Assyrians, because thou
wast unsatiable;
yea, thou hast played the
harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.
Then you
prostituted yourself with the Assyrians, because you were not yet satisfied. Even after that, you were still not satisfied.
Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more
abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou:
yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
So now you must bear your disgrace, since you have brought
justification for your sisters. For they appear more righteous than you, because your sins were more
vile than theirs. So you too must bear your shame and disgrace, since you have made your sisters appear righteous.
Yea, behold, being planted, shall it
prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
Even if it is
transplanted, will it
flourish? Will it not completely wither when the east wind strikes? It will wither on the bed where it
sprouted.’”
And it came to pass in the seventh
year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to
enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.
In the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down before me.
Now, thou son of man,
wilt thou judge,
wilt thou judge the
bloody city?
yea, thou shalt
shew her all her abominations.
“As for you, son of man, will you judge her? Will you pass judgment on the city of
bloodshed? Then
confront her with all her abominations
Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast
defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy
years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a
mocking to all countries.
you are guilty of the blood you have shed, and you are
defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close and have come to the end of your
years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a
mockery to all the lands.
Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Yes, I will gather you together and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted within the city.
The people of the land have practiced
extortion and committed
robbery. They have
oppressed the poor and
needy and have exploited the foreign resident without justice.
The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man,
wilt thou judge Aholah and
Aholibah?
yea, declare unto them their abominations;
Then the LORD said to me: “Son of man, will you pass judgment against Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh month of the
twelfth year, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Now shall the isles
tremble in the day of thy fall;
yea, the isles that are in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure.
Now the coastlands
tremble on the day of your
downfall; the islands in the sea are dismayed by your
demise.”’
And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards;
yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that
despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.
And there they will dwell securely, build houses, and plant vineyards. They will dwell securely when I
execute judgments against all those around them who treat them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God.’”
In the tenth
year, in the tenth month, in the
twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the tenth
year, on the
twelfth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.
No foot of man or beast will pass through, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
And I will make the land of Egypt
desolate in the midst of the countries that are
desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be
desolate forty
years: and I will
scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will
disperse them through the countries.
I will make the land of Egypt a
desolation among
desolate lands, and her cities will lie
desolate for forty
years among the ruined cities. And I will
disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them throughout the countries.
Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty
years will I gather the Egyptians from the people
whither they were scattered:
For this is what the Lord GOD says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations to which they were scattered.
And it came to pass in the seven and
twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the twenty-seventh year, on the first day of the first month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh year, on the seventh day of the first month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And it came to pass in the
twelfth year, in the
twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
twelfth year, on the first day of the
twelfth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Yea, I will make many people
amazed at thee, and their kings shall be
horribly afraid for thee, when I shall
brandish my sword before them; and they shall
tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.
I will cause many peoples to be
appalled over you, and their kings will
shudder in
horror because of you when I
brandish My sword before them. On the day of your
downfall each of them will
tremble every moment for his life.’
It came to pass also in the
twelfth year, in the
fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
twelfth year, on the
fifteenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the
uncircumcised, and shalt lie with them that are slain with the sword.
And it came to pass in the
twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is
smitten.
In the
twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a
fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported, “The city has been taken!”
My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock went
astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth
bereave them of men.
Yes, I will cause My people Israel to walk upon you; they will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will no longer deprive them of their children.
My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be My people.
After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
After a long time you will be summoned. In the latter
years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been
desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and all now dwell securely.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which
prophesied in those days many
years that I would bring thee against them?
This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you the one of whom I have spoken in former days through My servants, the prophets of Israel, who in those times
prophesied for
years that I would bring you against them?
And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out,
kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven
years they will use them for fuel.
Yea, all the people of the land shall
bury them; and it shall be to them a
renown the day that I shall be
glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
All the people of the land will
bury them, and it will bring them
renown on the day I display My glory, declares the Lord GOD.
In the five and
twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the
year, in the tenth day of the month, in the
fourteenth year after that the city was
smitten, in the
selfsame day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither.
In the twenty-fifth
year of our exile, at the beginning of the
year, on the tenth day of the month—in the
fourteenth year after Jerusalem had been struck down—on that very day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He took me there.
