This was the
dedication of the altar, in the day when it was
anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver
bowls, twelve spoons of gold:
So these were the offerings from the leaders of Israel for the
dedication of the altar when it was
anointed: twelve silver platters, twelve silver
bowls,
and twelve gold dishes.
Each charger of silver weighing an hundred
and thirty shekels, each
bowl seventy: all the silver vessels
weighed two thousand
and four hundred shekels, after the

weighed ten shekels each, according to the sanctuary
shekel. The total weight of the gold dishes was a hundred
and twenty shekels.
All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat offering: and the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve.
All the
livestock for the burnt offering totaled twelve bulls, twelve rams,
and twelve male lambs a year old—together with their grain offerings—
and twelve male goats for the sin offering.
And all the oxen for the sacrifice of the peace offerings were twenty
and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he goats sixty, the lambs of the first year sixty. This was the
dedication of the altar, after that it was
anointed.
All the
livestock sacrificed for the peace offering totaled twenty-four bulls, sixty rams, sixty male goats,

And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.
When Moses entered the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two
cherubim above the mercy seat on the ark of the Testimony. Thus the LORD spoke to him.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
Speak unto Aaron,
and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the
candlestick.
“Speak to Aaron and tell him: ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the lampstand.’”
And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the
candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps facing toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And this work of the
candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the
candlestick.
This is how the lampstand was constructed: it was made of hammered gold from its base to its blossoms, fashioned according to the pattern the LORD had shown Moses.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Take the Levites from among the children of Israel,
and cleanse them.
“Take the Levites from among the Israelites
and make them
ceremonially clean.
And thus shalt thou do unto them, to
cleanse them:
Sprinkle water of
purifying upon them,
and let them
shave all their flesh,
and let them wash their clothes,
and so make themselves clean.
Then let them take a young
bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil,
and another young
bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
Then have them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.
And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
Bring the Levites before the Tent of Meeting
and assemble the whole congregation of Israel.
And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
You are to present the Levites before the LORD and have the Israelites lay their hands upon them.
And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may
execute the service of the LORD.
Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may perform the service of the LORD.
And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks:
and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering,
and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an
atonement for the Levites.
And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls,
and offer to the LORD one as a sin offering
and the other as a burnt offering, to make
atonement for the Levites.
And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
You are to have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons and then present them before the LORD as a wave offering.
Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
In this way you shall separate the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, and the Levites will belong to Me.
And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
and thou shalt
cleanse them,
and offer them for an offering.
After you have
cleansed them
and presented them as a wave offering, they may come to serve at the Tent of Meeting.
For all the
firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man
and beast: on the day that I
smote every
firstborn in the land of Egypt I
sanctified them for myself.
For every
firstborn male in Israel is Mine, both man
and beast. I set them apart for Myself on the day I struck down all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt.
And I have taken the Levites for all the
firstborn of the children of Israel.
But I have taken the Levites in place of all the
firstborn among the sons of Israel.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron
and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation,
and to make an
atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come
nigh unto the sanctuary.
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron
and his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service for the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting
and to make
atonement on their behalf, so that no plague will come against the Israelites when they approach the sanctuary.”
And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
So Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation of Israel did with the Levites everything that the LORD had commanded Moses they should do.
And the Levites were
purified,
and they washed their clothes;
and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD;
and Aaron made an
atonement for them to
cleanse them.
The Levites
purified themselves
and washed their clothes,
and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made
atonement for them to
cleanse them.
And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
After that, the Levites came to perform their service at the Tent of Meeting in the presence of Aaron and his sons. Thus they did with the Levites just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
And the LORD said to Moses,
This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
“This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years of age or older shall enter to perform the service in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
But at the age of fifty, they must retire from performing the work and no longer serve.
But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
After that, they may assist their brothers in
fulfilling their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to
assign responsibilities to the Levites.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of
Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
In the first month of the second year after Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of
Sinai:
In the
fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it,
and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
You are to observe it at the appointed time, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with its statutes
and ordinances.”
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the
passover.
So Moses told the Israelites to observe the
Passover,
And they kept the
passover on the
fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of
Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
and they did so in the Wilderness of
Sinai, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And there were certain men, who were
defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the
passover on that day:
and they came before Moses
and before Aaron on that day:
But there were some men who were unclean due to a dead body, so they could not observe the
Passover on that day.
And they came before Moses
and Aaron that same day
And those men said unto him, We are
defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
and said to Moses, “We are unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be excluded from presenting the LORD’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
“Wait here until I find out what the LORD commands concerning you,” Moses replied.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
The
fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it,
and eat it with
unleavened bread
and bitter herbs.
Such people are to observe it at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the second month. They are to eat the lamb, together with
unleavened bread
and bitter herbs;
But the man that is clean,
and is not in a journey,
and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean
and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And if a stranger shall
sojourn among you,
and will keep the
passover unto the LORD; according to the
ordinance of the
passover,
and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one
ordinance, both for the stranger,
and for him that was born in the land.
If a foreigner dwelling among you wants to observe the
Passover to the LORD, he is to do so according to the
Passover statute
and its ordinances. You are to apply the same statute to both the foreigner
and the native of the land.’”
And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
On the day that the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it and appeared like fire above the tabernacle from evening until morning.
So it was
alway: the cloud covered it by day,
and the appearance of fire by night.
It remained that way continually; the cloud would cover the tabernacle by day, and at night it would appear like fire.
And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
Whenever the cloud was lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites would set out, and wherever the cloud settled, there the Israelites would camp.
At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
At the LORD’s command the Israelites set out,
and at the LORD’s command they camped. As long as the cloud remained over the tabernacle, they remained
encamped.
And when the cloud
tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD,
and journeyed not.
Even when the cloud
lingered over the tabernacle for many days, the Israelites kept the LORD’s charge
and did not set out.
And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
Sometimes the cloud remained over the tabernacle for only a few days, and they would camp at the LORD’s command and set out at the LORD’s command.
And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
Sometimes the cloud remained only from evening until morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they would set out. Whether it was by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up, they would set out.
Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud
tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining
thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents,
and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
Whether the cloud
lingered for two days, a month, or longer, the Israelites camped
and did not set out as long as the cloud remained over the tabernacle; but when it was lifted, they would set out.
At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
They camped at the LORD’s command, and they set out at the LORD’s command; they carried out the LORD’s charge according to His command through Moses.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Then the LORD said to Moses,
Make thee two
trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly,
and for the journeying of the camps.
“Make two
trumpets of hammered silver to be used for calling the congregation
and for having the camps set out.
And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall
assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to
assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And if they blow but with one
trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the
trumpets;
and they shall be to you for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the
trumpets. This shall be a permanent statute for you
and the generations to come.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets;
and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God,
and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets,
and you will be remembered before the LORD your God
and saved from your enemies.
Also in the day of your
gladness,
and in your solemn days,
and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings,
and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts,
and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings
and fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And it came to pass on the
twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
On the
twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle of the Testimony,
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of
Sinai;
and the cloud rested in the wilderness of
Paran.
and the Israelites set out from the Wilderness of
Sinai, traveling from place to place until the cloud settled in the Wilderness of
Paran.
And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
They set out this first time according to the LORD’s command through Moses.
In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies:
and over his host was Nahshon the son of
Amminadab.
First, the divisions of the camp of Judah set out under their standard, with Nahshon son of
Amminadab in command.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of
Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe of
Issachar,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of
Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
and Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of
Zebulun.
And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and the Merarites set out, transporting it.
And the standard of the camp of
Reuben set forward according to their armies:
and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Then the divisions of the camp of
Reuben set out under their standard, with Elizur son of Shedeur in command.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of
Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of
Simeon,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of
Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of
Gad.
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.
Then the Kohathites set out, transporting the holy objects; the tabernacle was to be set up before their arrival.
