And thou shalt do to
Ai and her king as thou
didst unto
Jericho and her king: only the
spoil thereof, and the
cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto
yourselves: lay thee an
ambush for the city behind it.
Only the
cattle and the
spoil of that city Israel took for a prey unto themselves, according unto the word of the LORD which he commanded Joshua.
Israel took for themselves only the
cattle and
plunder of that city, as the LORD had commanded Joshua.
And all the
spoil of these cities, and the
cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they
smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to
breathe.
The Israelites took for themselves all the
plunder and
livestock of these cities, but they put all the people to the sword until they had completely destroyed them, not
sparing anyone who breathed.
For the children of Joseph were two tribes,
Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their
cattle and for their substance.
The descendants of Joseph became two tribes,
Manasseh and Ephraim. And no portion of the land was given to the Levites, except for cities in which to live, along with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.
And they spake unto them at
Shiloh in the land of
Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our
cattle.
at
Shiloh in the land of
Canaan and said to them, “The LORD commanded through Moses that we be given cities in which to live, together with pasturelands for our
livestock.”
And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much
cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much
raiment: divide the
spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth, with immense herds of
livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and very many clothes. Divide with your brothers the
spoil of your enemies.”
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
For the Midianites came with their
livestock and their tents like a great
swarm of locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to
ravage it.
So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.

And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your
asses, and put them to his work.
And he will take your menservants and maidservants and your best
cattle and
donkeys and put them to his own use.
And the people
flew upon the
spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and
calves, and
slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.
So they
rushed greedily to the
plunder, taking sheep,
cattle, and
calves. They slaughtered them on the ground and
ate meat with the blood still in it.
But Saul and the people
spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was
vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
Saul and his troops
spared Agag, along with the best of the sheep and
cattle, the fat
calves and lambs, and the best of everything else. They were unwilling to destroy them, but they devoted to destruction all that was
despised and worthless.
And Samuel said, What meaneth then this
bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
But Samuel replied, “Then what is this
bleating of sheep and lowing of
cattle that I hear?”
And Saul said, They have brought them from the
Amalekites: for the people
spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
Saul answered, “The troops brought them from the
Amalekites; they
spared the best sheep and
cattle to sacrifice to the LORD your God, but the rest we devoted to destruction.”
But the people took of the
spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in
Gilgal.
The troops took sheep and
cattle from the
plunder, the best of the things devoted to destruction, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at
Gilgal.”
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their
cattle, and
smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Then David and his men went to Keilah, fought against the Philistines, and carried off their
livestock, striking them with a mighty blow. So David saved the people of Keilah.
And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they
drave before those other
cattle, and said, This is David’s
spoil.
And he recovered all the flocks and herds, which his men drove
ahead of the other
livestock, calling out, “This is David’s
plunder!”
The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
The rich man had a great number of sheep and cattle,
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he
spared to take of his own flock and of his own
herd, to dress for the
wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
Now a traveler came to the rich man, who
refrained from taking one of his own sheep or
cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his
guest.”
And Adonijah
slew sheep and oxen and fat
cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants:
And Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and
fattened calves near the stone of Zoheleth, which is next to En-rogel. He invited all his royal brothers and all the men of Judah who were servants of the king.
And he hath slain oxen and fat
cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and
Abiathar the priest, and
Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called.
And he has sacrificed an abundance of oxen,
fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the other sons of the king, as well as
Abiathar the priest and
Joab the commander of the army. But he did not
invite your servant Solomon.
For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat
cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and
Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.
For
today he has gone down and sacrificed an abundance of oxen,
fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and
Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’
So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of
Edom: and they
fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the
cattle that followed them.
So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of
Edom set out, and after they had traveled a
roundabout route for seven days, they had no water for their army or for their animals.
For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their
cattle were multiplied in the land of
Gilead.
They also settled in the east as far as the edge of the desert that extends to the Euphrates River, because their
livestock had increased in the land of
Gilead.
And they took away their
cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of
asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
They seized the
livestock of the Hagrites—50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, and 2,000
donkeys. They also took 100,000
captives,
And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of
Gath that were born in that land
slew, because they came down to take away their
cattle.
Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son, Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son. Ezer and Elead were killed by the natives of
Gath, because they went down to
steal their
livestock.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and
cattle of the king and his sons, along with the court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
They
smote also the tents of
cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.
They also attacked the tents of the herdsmen and carried off many sheep and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.
And after certain years he went down to
Ahab to Samaria. And
Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to
Ramoth-
gilead.
And some years later he went down to visit
Ahab in Samaria, where
Ahab sacrificed many sheep and
cattle for him and the people with him, and urged him to march up to
Ramoth-
gilead.
Also he built towers in the desert, and
digged many wells: for he had much
cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains:
husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in
Carmel: for he loved
husbandry.
Since he had much
livestock in the foothills and in the plain, he built towers in the desert and
dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill country and in the fertile fields.
Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
He made cities for himself, and he acquired herds of sheep and cattle in abundance, for God gave him very great wealth.
And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and
Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the
passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small
cattle, and three hundred oxen.
His officials also contributed willingly to the people and priests and Levites. Hilkiah,
Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of the house of God, gave the priests 2,600
Passover offerings and 300 bulls.
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for
passover offerings five thousand small
cattle, and five hundred oxen.
Additionally, Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad, officers of the Levites,
donated to the Levites 5,000
Passover offerings and 500 bulls.
And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
Its abundant harvest goes to the kings You have set over us because of our sins. And they rule over our bodies and our
livestock as they please. We are in great distress.
Also the
firstborn of our sons, and of our
cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God:
And we will bring the
firstborn of our sons and our
livestock, as it is written in the Law, and will bring the
firstborn of our herds and flocks to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God.
Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed
vile in your sight?
Why are we regarded as
cattle, as
stupid in your sight?
The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
The
thunder declares His presence; even the
cattle regard the rising storm.
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
for every beast of the forest is Mine— the cattle on a thousand hills.
He gave up their
cattle also to the
hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
He causeth the grass to grow for the
cattle, and
herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
He makes the grass grow for the
livestock and provides crops for man to
cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth:
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their herds diminish.
Beasts, and all
cattle;
creeping things, and flying fowl:
wild animals and all
cattle,
crawling creatures and flying birds,
I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
I acquired menservants and maidservants, and servants were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than
anyone in Jerusalem before me,
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
“What good to Me is your multitude of sacrifices?” says the LORD. “I am full from the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I take no delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
And on all hills that shall be
digged with the
mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the
treading of lesser
cattle.
For fear of the briers and thorns, you will no longer
traverse the hills once tilled by the
hoe; they will become places for oxen to
graze and sheep to
trample.
And behold joy and
gladness,
slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we shall die.
But look, there is joy and
gladness,
butchering of
cattle and slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt
sow the ground
withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and
plenteous: in that day shall thy
cattle feed in large pastures.
Then He will send rain for the seed that you have sown in the ground, and the food that comes from your land will be rich and
plentiful. On that day your
cattle will
graze in open pastures.
Thou hast not brought me the small
cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor
wearied thee with incense.
You have not brought Me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor
wearied you with
frankincense.
Bel boweth down,
Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the
cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the
weary beast.
As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so
didst thou lead thy people, to make
thyself a glorious name.
Like
cattle going down to the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led Your people this way to make for
Yourself a glorious name.
For the mountains will I take up a
weeping and
wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the
cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
I will take up a
weeping and
wailing for the mountains, a
dirge over the wilderness pasture, for they have been
scorched so no one passes through, and the lowing of
cattle is not heard. Both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled; they have gone away.
And their camels shall be a
booty, and the multitude of their
cattle a
spoil: and I will
scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their
calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.
Their camels will become
plunder, and their large herds will be
spoil. I will
scatter to the wind in every direction those who
shave their temples; I will bring
calamity on them from all sides,” declares the LORD.
I will destroy also all the beasts thereof from beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the
hoofs of beasts trouble them.
I will slaughter all her
cattle beside the abundant waters. No human foot will
muddy them again, and no
cattle hooves will
disturb them.
And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
This is what the Lord GOD says to you, My flock: ‘I will judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and the goats.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat
cattle and between the
lean cattle.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says to them: ‘Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat sheep and the
lean sheep.
Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
I will save My flock, and they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another.
To take a
spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the
desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have
gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
in order to seize the
spoil and carry off the
plunder, to turn a hand against the
desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired
livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of
Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a
spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away
cattle and goods, to take a great
spoil?
Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of
Tarshish with all its villages will ask, ‘Have you come to capture the
plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to carry away
loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take
cattle and goods, to seize great
spoil?’
How do the beasts
groan! the herds of
cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the flocks of sheep are made
desolate.
How the
cattle groan! The herds
wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.
Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
Even though you offer Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; for your peace offerings of
fattened cattle I will have no regard.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much
cattle?
So should I not care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many
cattle as well?”
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no
cattle are in the stalls,
And I called for a
drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon
cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
I have summoned a
drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your hands.”
And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the multitude of men and
livestock within it.
But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an
husbandman; for man taught me to keep
cattle from my youth.
He will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I work the land, for I was purchased as a servant in my youth.’
Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are
bidden, Behold, I have prepared my
dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
Again, he sent other servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my
dinner. My oxen and
fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the
wedding banquet.’
But which of you, having a servant
plowing or feeding
cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
Which of you whose servant comes in from
plowing or
shepherding in the field will say to him, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?
And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables.
And when he had made a
scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
So He made a
whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and
cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and
drank thereof himself, and his children, and his
cattle?
Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and
drank from it himself, as did his sons and his
livestock?”
And
cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and
frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and
chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
of
cinnamon,
spice, incense,
myrrh, and
frankincense; of wine, olive oil, fine flour, and wheat; of
cattle, sheep, horses, and
chariots; of slaves and souls of men.
With gifts, with horses, and with
cattle, and other things, which have been set forth by
vow, for the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem.
And they that dwelt round about them, and helped them in all things with silver and gold, with horses and
cattle, and with very many free gifts of a great number whose minds were
stirred up
thereto.
After this were the principal men of the families chosen according to their tribes, to go up with their wives and sons and daughters, with their menservants and maidservants, and their cattle.
And there I
vowed a fast unto the young men before our Lord, to desire of him a prosperous journey both for us and them that were with us, for our children, and for the
cattle:
And that
whosoever met not there within two or three days according as the elders that bare rule appointed, their
cattle should be seized to the use of the temple, and himself cast out from them that were of the captivity.
And of all the fowls that are created thou hast named thee one
dove: and of all the
cattle that are made thou hast provided thee one sheep:
Upon the sixth day thou gavest commandment unto the earth, that before thee it should bring forth beasts,
cattle, and
creeping things:
Then Raguel arose, and gave him Sara his wife, and half his goods, servants, and cattle, and money:
Both they, and their wives and their children, and their
cattle, and every stranger and
hireling, and their servants bought with money, put
sackcloth upon their loins.
Then their God commanded them to depart from the place where they
sojourned, and to go into the land of Chanaan: where they dwelt, and were increased with gold and silver, and with very much
cattle.
She was also of a goodly countenance, and very beautiful to behold: and her husband Manasses had left her gold, and silver, and menservants and maidservants, and cattle, and lands; and she remained upon them.
As Nabuchodonosor king of all the earth liveth, and as his power liveth, who hath sent thee for the upholding of every living thing: for not only men shall serve him by thee, but also the beasts of the field, and the cattle, and the fowls of the air, shall live by thy power under Nabuchodonosor and all his house.
For their
victuals fail them, and all their water is
scant, and they have determined to lay hands upon their
cattle, and purposed to
consume all those things, that God hath forbidden them to eat by his laws:
For they were yet mindful of the things that were done while they
sojourned in the strange land, how the ground brought forth
flies instead of
cattle, and how the river cast up a multitude of frogs instead of fishes.
Hast thou cattle? have an eye to them: and if they be for thy profit, keep them with thee.
O all ye beasts and
cattle,
bless ye the Lord: praise and
exalt him above all for ever.
But the women and children took they
captive, and possessed the
cattle.
Both they, and their children, and their wives; and their
cattle; because afflictions increased
sore upon them.
So they rose up against them in battle on the sabbath, and they
slew them, with their wives and children and their
cattle, to the number of a thousand people.
Moreover I freely set at liberty every one of the Jews, that were carried
captives out of the land of
Judea into any part of my kingdom, and I will that all my officers
remit the tributes even of their
cattle.
We do write back again to you, that your cattle and goods are our’s, and our’s are your’s We do command therefore our ambassadors to make report unto you on this wise.
Whereupon there was a very
sore battle; but
Judas’ side by the help of God got the victory; so that the Nomades of Arabia, being overcome,
besought Judas for peace, promising both to give him
cattle, and to pleasure him otherwise.
