For God, who
commanded the light to
shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

shine out of darkness,” made His light
shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
I speak not by
commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the
sincerity of your love.
I am not making a demand, but I am testing the
sincerity of your love in comparison to the earnestness of others.

Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received
commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
For you know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
Anyone, then, who rejects this
command does not
reject man but God, the very One who gives you His Holy Spirit.

and to
aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we
instructed you.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the
trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud
command, with the voice of an
archangel, and with the
trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise.

Now we
command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw
yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For even while we were with you, we gave you this
command: “If
anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat.”

command and
exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

command and
urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to
earn their own living.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the
command of God our
Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
Now the end of the
commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith
unfeigned:
The
goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a
sincere faith.
This charge I commit unto thee, son
Timothy, according to the
prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
Timothy, my child, I
entrust you with this
command in keeping with the previous

commanding to
abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

prohibit marriage and require
abstinence from certain foods that God has created to be received with
thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Command and teach these things.

Keep this
commandment without
stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ,

And
verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a
commandment to take
tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
Now the law commands the sons of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers—though they too are descended from Abraham.

carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

verily a
disannulling of the
commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

For when Moses had spoken every
precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of
calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and
sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
For when Moses had proclaimed every
commandment of the law to all the people, he took the blood of
calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and
sprinkled the
scroll and all the people,
Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath
enjoined unto you.

dart:
For they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.”
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn away from the holy commandment passed on to them.
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
by recalling what was
foretold by the holy prophets and
commanded by our Lord and

hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his
commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.
If
anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His
commandments, he is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.
Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but an old one, which you have had from the beginning. This commandment is the message you have heard.
Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
Then again, I am also writing to you a new
commandment, which is true in Him and also in you. For the darkness is
fading and the true light is already
shining.

whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And

commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
And we have this
commandment from Him:
Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his
commandments: and his
commandments are not
grievous.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His
commandments. And His
commandments are not
burdensome,
I
rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a
commandment from the Father.
I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father has commanded us.
And now I
beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new
commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
And now I
urge you,
dear lady—not as a new
commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.
Because thou hast kept the word of my
patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Because you have kept My
command to
persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every
bondman, and every free man,
hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the
commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man
hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
And it was
commanded them that they should not
hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
They were told not to
harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
And the
dragon was
wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the
remnant of her seed, which keep the
commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
And the
dragon was
enraged at the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the
commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And the
dragon stood on the shore of the sea.
Here is the
patience of the saints: here are they that keep the
commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Here is a call for the
perseverance of the saints who keep the
commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
so that you may eat the flesh of kings and
commanders and mighty men, of horses and riders, of
everyone slave and free, small and great.”

Offer the
passover in order, and make ready the sacrifices for your brethren, and keep the
passover according to the
commandment of the Lord, which was given unto Moses.
And offer sacrifices upon the altar of the Lord, according to the commandment of king Josias.
So far forth, that he, being
wroth with his people for their great
ungodliness,
commanded the kings of the Chaldees to come up against them;
And
commanded me to build him an house at Jerusalem in
Jewry.
I have read the epistle which ye have sent unto me: therefore I
commanded to make
diligent search, and it hath been found that that city was from the beginning practising against kings;
Now therefore I have
commanded to hinder those men from building the city, and
heed to be taken that there be no more done in it;
But yet the king is more mighty: for he is lord of all these things, and hath dominion over them; and
whatsoever he
commandeth them they do.
They
slay and are slain, and
transgress not the king’s
commandment: if they get the victory, they bring all to the king, as well the
spoil, as all things else.
And yet he is but one man: if he
command to kill, they kill; if he
command to
spare, they
spare;
If he command to cut down, they cut down; if he command to plant, they plant.
And other ten talents yearly, to maintain the burnt offerings upon the altar every day, as they had a commandment to offer seventeen:
And he commanded to give to all that kept the city pensions and wages.
He sent away also all the vessels from Babylon, that Cyrus had set apart; and all that Cyrus had given in commandment, the same charged he also to be done, and sent unto Jerusalem.
To offer burnt sacrifices upon it, according as it is expressly commanded in the book of Moses the man of God.
Also they held the feast of tabernacles, as it is commanded in the law, and offered sacrifices daily, as was meet:
Unto them of Zidon also and Tyre they gave carrs, that they should bring
cedar trees from Libanus, which should be brought by floats to the
haven of
Joppa, according as it was
commanded them by Cyrus king of the Persians.
We ourselves alone will build unto the Lord of Israel, according as Cyrus the king of the Persians hath commanded us.
Then asked we these elders, saying, By whose commandment build ye this house, and lay the foundations of these works?
With commandment that he should carry away the same vessels, and put them in the temple at Jerusalem; and that the temple of the Lord should be built in his place.
Then
commanded king
Darius to seek among the records at Babylon: and so at Ecbatane the palace, which is in the country of Media, there was found a roll wherein these things were recorded.
In the first year of the reign of Cyrus king Cyrus commanded that the house of the Lord at Jerusalem should be built again, where they do sacrifice with continual fire:
And also he
commanded that Sisinnes the governor of Syria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, and their companions, and those which were appointed rulers in Syria and Phenice, should be careful not to
meddle with the place, but suffer Zorobabel, the servant of the Lord, and governor of
Judea, and the elders of the Jews, to build the house of the Lord in that place.
I have
commanded also to have it built up whole again; and that they look
diligently to help those that be of the captivity of the Jews, till the house of the Lord be finished:
And he
commanded that
whosoever should
transgress,
yea, or make light of any thing
afore spoken or written, out of his own house should a tree be taken, and he
thereon be
hanged, and all his goods seized for the king.
Then Sisinnes the governor of Celosyria and Phenice, and Sathrabuzanes, with their companions following the
commandments of king
Darius,
And they finished these things by the
commandment of the Lord God of Israel, and with the consent of Cyrus,
Darius, and Artexerxes, kings of Persia.
For
Esdras had very great skill, so that he omitted nothing of the law and
commandments of the Lord, but taught all Israel the ordinances and judgments.
And I king Artexerxes have also
commanded the keepers of the treasures in Syria and Phenice, that
whatsoever Esdras the priest and the reader of the law of the most high God shall send for, they should give it him with speed,
I
command you also, that ye require no tax, nor any other imposition, of any of the priests, or Levites, or holy singers, or
porters, or ministers of the temple, or of any that have doings in this temple, and that no man have authority to
impose any thing upon them.
And
commanded them that they should speak unto Daddeus, and to his brethren, and to the treasurers in that place, to send us such men as might
execute the priests’ office in the house of the Lord.
And they delivered the king’s commandments unto the king’s stewards’ and to the governors of Celosyria and Phenice; and they honoured the people and the temple of God.
And now, O Lord, what shall we say, having these things? for we have
transgressed thy
commandments, which thou gavest by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying,
And your children shall not be fruitful; for they have
despised my
commandment, and done the thing that is an evil before me.
Your houses will I give to a people that shall come; which not having heard of me yet shall believe me; to whom I have shewed no signs, yet they shall do that I have commanded them.
Thus saith the Lord, I brought this people out of
bondage, and I gave them my
commandments by menservants the prophets; whom they would not hear, but
despised my counsels.
I
Esdras received a charge of the Lord upon the mount Oreb, that I should go unto Israel; but when I came unto them, they set me at
nought, and
despised the
commandment of the Lord.
O Lord, who bearest rule, thou spakest at the beginning, when thou
didst plant the earth, and that
thyself alone, and
commandedst the people,
And unto him thou gavest
commandment to love thy way: which he
transgressed, and immediately thou appointedst death in him and in his generations, of whom came nations, tribes, people, and kindreds, out of number.
And every people walked after their own will, and did wonderful things before thee, and
despised thy
commandments.
Whom thou commandedst to build a city unto thy name, and to offer incense and oblations unto thee therein.
And yet their reward appeareth not, and their labour hath no fruit: for I have gone here and there through the heathen, and I see that they flow in wealth, and think not upon thy commandments.
Or when was it that they which dwell upon the earth have not
sinned in thy sight? or what people have so kept thy
commandments?
And so I fasted seven days,
mourning and
weeping, like as Uriel the angel
commanded me.
Then commandedst thou a fair light to come forth of thy treasures, that thy work might appear.
Upon the second day thou madest the spirit of the
firmament, and
commandedst it to part
asunder, and to make a division
betwixt the waters, that the one part might go up, and the other remain beneath.
Upon the third day thou
didst command that the waters should be gathered in the seventh part of the earth: six parts hast thou dried up, and kept them, to the intent that of these some being planted of God and tilled might serve thee.
