I have set
watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace
day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have posted
watchmen; they will never be silent
day or night. You who call on the LORD shall take no rest for
yourselves,
For the
day of
vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
In all their
affliction he was
afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his
pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the
days of old.
In all their distress, He too was
afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them. In His love and
compassion He redeemed them; He lifted them up and carried them all the
days of old.
Then he remembered the
days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the
shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
Then His people remembered the
days of old, the
days of Moses. Where is He who brought them through the sea with the
shepherds of His flock? Where is the One who set His Holy Spirit among them,
I have spread out my hands all the
day unto a
rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
All
day long I have held out My hands to an
obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations,
Which say, Stand by
thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the
day.
They say, ‘Keep to
yourself; do not come near me, for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all
day long.
There shall be no more thence an infant of
days, nor an old man that hath not filled his
days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the
sinner being an hundred years old shall be
accursed.
No longer will a
nursing infant live but a few
days, or an old man fail to live out his years. For the youth will die at a hundred years, and he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered
accursed.
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the
days of a tree are the
days of my people, and mine
elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one
day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Who has heard of such as this? Who has seen such things? Can a country be born in a
day or a nation be delivered in an instant? Yet as soon as
Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.
To whom the word of the LORD came in the
days of
Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the
thirteenth year of his reign.
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in the
thirteenth year of the reign of
Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
and through the
days of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the
eleventh year of
Zedekiah son of
Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
See, I have appointed you
today over nations and kingdoms to
uproot and
tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”
For, behold, I have made thee this
day a defenced city, and an iron
pillar, and
brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
Now behold, this
day I have made you like a fortified city, an iron
pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
Can a
maid forget her ornaments, or a
bride her
attire? yet my people have forgotten me
days without number.
The LORD said also unto me in the
days of
Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which
backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the
harlot.
Now in the
days of King
Josiah, the LORD said to me, “Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every green tree to
prostitute herself there.
And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
“In those
days, when you multiply and increase in the land,” declares the LORD, “they will no longer
discuss the ark of the covenant of the LORD. It will never come to mind, and no one will remember it or miss it, nor will another one be made.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave to your fathers as an inheritance.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this
day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this
day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
And it shall come to pass at that
day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be
astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
“In that
day,” declares the LORD, “the king and officials will lose their courage. The priests will
tremble in fear, and the prophets will be
astounded.”
Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
“Yet even in those days,” declares the LORD, “I will not make a full end of you.
Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at
noon.
Woe unto us! for the
day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
‘Prepare for battle against her; rise up, let us attack at
noon.
Woe to us, for the
daylight is
fading; the evening shadows grow long.
Therefore I am full of the
fury of the LORD; I am
weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of
days.
But I am full of the LORD’s wrath; I am
tired of holding it back. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be captured, the old and the very old alike.
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
For when I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt, I did not merely command them about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
From the day your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets again and again.
Therefore, behold, the
days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called
Tophet, nor the valley of the son of
Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall
bury in
Tophet, till there be no place.
So behold, the
days are coming, declares the LORD, when this place will no longer be called Topheth and the Valley of
Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. For they will
bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might
weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
Oh, that my head were a spring of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would
weep day and night over the slain daughter of my people.
Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
which I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey Me, and do everything I command you, and you will be My people, and I will be your God.’
That I may perform the oath which I have
sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this
day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
This was in order to establish the oath I
swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is to this
day.” “
Amen, LORD,” I answered.
For I earnestly
protested unto your fathers in the
day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this
day, rising early and
protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
For from the time I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt until
today, I strongly
warned them again and again, saying, ‘Obey My voice.’
But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But You know me, O LORD; You see me and test my heart toward You.
Drag away the wicked like sheep to the slaughter and set them apart for the
day of
carnage.
And it came to pass after many
days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the
girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
Many days later the LORD said to me, “Arise, go to Perath, and get the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there.”
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and
day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very
grievous blow.
You are to speak this word to them: ‘My eyes overflow with tears;
day and night they do not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people has been
shattered by a
crushing blow, a severely
grievous wound.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet
day: she hath been
ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
The mother of seven will grow
faint; she will
breathe her last breath. Her sun will set while it is still
day; she will be disgraced and
humiliated. And the rest I will put to the sword in the presence of their enemies,” declares the LORD.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your
days, the voice of
mirth, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to remove from this place, before your very eyes and in your
days, the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom.
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods
day and night; where I will not
shew you favour.
So I will cast you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known. There you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Yet behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of Egypt.’
O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the
day of
affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of distress, the nations will come to You from the ends of the earth, and they will say, “Our fathers inherited nothing but lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.
As the
partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his
days, and at his end shall be a
fool.
Like a
partridge hatching eggs it did not lay is the man who makes a fortune unjustly. In the middle of his
days his riches will desert him, and in the end he will be the
fool.”
As for me, I have not
hastened from being a
pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the
woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.
But I have not run away from being Your
shepherd; I have not desired the
day of
despair. You know that the
utterance of my lips was spoken in Your presence.
Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil.
Do not become a terror to me; You are my refuge in the
day of
disaster.
Let them be confounded that
persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the
day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.
Let my persecutors be put to shame, but do not let me be put to shame. Let them be
terrified, but do not let me be
terrified. Bring upon them the
day of
disaster and
shatter them with double destruction.
Thus saith the LORD; Take
heed to
yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath
day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
This is what the LORD says: Take
heed for
yourselves; do not carry a load or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath
day.
Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath
day, neither do ye any work, but
hallow ye the sabbath
day, as I commanded your fathers.
You must not carry a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath day, but you must keep the Sabbath day holy, just as I commanded your forefathers.
And it shall come to pass, if ye
diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath
day, but
hallow the sabbath
day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath
day, and keep the Sabbath
day holy, and do no work on it,
But if ye will not
hearken unto me to
hallow the sabbath
day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath
day; then will I
kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.
But if you do not
listen to Me to keep the Sabbath
day holy by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath
day, then I will
kindle an
unquenchable fire in its gates to
consume the citadels of Jerusalem.’”
I will
scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will
shew them the back, and not the face, in the
day of their
calamity.
I will
scatter them before the enemy like the east wind. I will show them My back and not My face in the
day of their
calamity.”
Therefore, behold, the
days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called
Tophet, nor The valley of the son of
Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.
So behold, the
days are coming, declares the LORD, when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the Valley of Ben-
hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
The next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The LORD does not call you Pashhur, but Magor-missabib.
O LORD, thou hast
deceived me, and I was
deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in
derision daily, every one mocketh me.
For since I spake, I
cried out, I
cried violence and
spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a
derision, daily.
For whenever I speak, I cry out; I
proclaim violence and destruction. For the word of the LORD has become to me a reproach and
derision all
day long.
Cursed be the
day wherein I was born: let not the
day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
Cursed be the
day I was born! May the
day my mother bore me never be blessed.
Wherefore came I forth out of the
womb to see labour and sorrow, that my
days should be consumed with shame?
Why did I come out of the
womb to see only trouble and sorrow, and to end my
days in shame?
Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not
prosper in his
days: for no man of his seed shall
prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
This is what the LORD says: “
Enroll this man as childless, a man who will not
prosper in his lifetime. None of his descendants will
prosper to sit on the throne of David or to rule again in Judah.”
Behold, the
days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and
prosper, and shall
execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Behold, the
days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will
administer justice and righteousness in the land.
In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of Egypt.’
The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come you will understand this clearly.
From the
thirteenth year of
Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this
day, that is the three and
twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not
hearkened.
“From the
thirteenth year of
Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very
day—twenty-three years—the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not
listened.
To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a
desolation, an
astonishment, an
hissing, and a
curse; as it is this
day;
to make them a ruin, an object of
horror and contempt and
cursing, as they are to this
day—Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and officials;
And the slain of the LORD shall be at that
day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be
lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.
Those slain by the LORD on that
day will be spread from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be
mourned, gathered, or buried. They will be like dung lying on the ground.
Howl, ye
shepherds, and cry; and
wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the
days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
Wail, you
shepherds, and cry out; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For the
days of your slaughter have come; you will fall and be
shattered like fine pottery.
Micah the Morasthite
prophesied in the
days of
Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts;
Zion shall be
plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
“
Micah the Moreshite
prophesied in the
days of
Hezekiah king of Judah and told all the people of Judah that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘
Zion will be
plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a
heap of
rubble, and the temple mount a wooded ridge.’
They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
‘They will be carried to Babylon and will remain there until the day I attend to them again,’ declares the LORD. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’”
For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
For behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore from captivity My people Israel and Judah, declares the LORD. I will restore them to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they will possess it.’”
Alas! for that
day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
How
awful that
day will be! None will be like it! It is the time of Jacob’s distress, but he will be saved out of it.
For it shall come to pass in that
day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will
burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
On that
day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will break the yoke off their necks and
tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers
enslave them.
Their children also shall be as
aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will
punish all that
oppress them.
Their children will be as in
days of old, and their congregation will be established before Me; and I will
punish all their oppressors.
The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.
The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has fully accomplished the purposes of His heart. In the days to come you will understand this.
For there shall be a
day, that the
watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to
Zion unto the LORD our God.
For there will be a
day when
watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Arise, let us go up to
Zion, to the LORD our God!’”
Behold, the
days come, saith the LORD, that I will
sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
“The
days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will
sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and of beast.
In those
days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a
sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.
“In those
days, it will no longer be said: ‘The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.’
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the
day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they
brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt— a covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD.
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
“But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those
days, declares the LORD. I will put My law in their minds and
inscribe it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people.
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by
day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof
roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by
day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves
roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name:
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when this city will be rebuilt for Me, from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an
earthen vessel, that they may continue many
days.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Take these deeds—both the sealed copy and the open copy of the deed of purchase—and put them in a clay
jar to preserve them for a long time.
Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;
You performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and You do so to this very
day, both in Israel and among all mankind. And You have made a name for
Yourself, as is the case to this
day.
For this city hath been to me as a
provocation of mine anger and of my
fury from the
day that they built it even unto this
day; that I should remove it from before my face,
For this city has
aroused My wrath and
fury from the
day it was built until now. Therefore I will remove it from My presence
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
Behold, the
days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will
fulfill the
gracious promise that I have spoken to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.
In those
days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall
execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
In those
days and at that time I will cause to
sprout for David a righteous Branch, and He will
administer justice and righteousness in the land.
In those
days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name
wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
“This is what the LORD says: If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that day and night cease to occupy their appointed time,
Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
This is what the LORD says: If I have not established My covenant with the day and the night and the fixed order of heaven and earth,
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the
day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
bondmen, saying,
“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I made a covenant with your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, saying:
The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the
days of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, saying,
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the
days of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah:
Neither shall ye build house, nor
sow seed, nor plant
vineyard, nor have any: but all your
days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many
days in the land where ye be strangers.
Nor are you ever to build a house or
sow seed or plant a
vineyard. Those things are not for you. Instead, you must live in tents all your lives, so that you may live a long time in the land where you
wander.’
Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
And we have obeyed the voice of our
forefather Jonadab son of Rechab in all he commanded us. So we have not
drunk wine all our lives—neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters.
The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this
day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye
hearkened not unto me.
The words of Jonadab son of Rechab have been carried out. He commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not
drunk it to this very
day because they have obeyed the command of their
forefather. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you have not obeyed Me!
Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the
day I spake unto thee, from the
days of
Josiah, even into this
day.
“Take a
scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the
day I first spoke to you during the reign of
Josiah until
today.
Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD’S house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
so you are to go to the house of the LORD on a
day of fasting, and in the hearing of the people you are to read the words of the LORD from the
scroll you have written at my
dictation. Read them in the hearing of all the people of Judah who are coming from their cities.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of
Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the
day to the heat, and in the night to the
frost.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about
Jehoiakim king of Judah: He will have no one to sit on David’s throne, and his body will be thrown out and exposed to heat by
day and
frost by night.
When Jeremiah was entered into the
dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many
days;
So Jeremiah went into a cell in the
dungeon and remained there a long time.
So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
And Jeremiah remained in the
courtyard of the guard until the
day Jerusalem was captured.
And in the
eleventh year of
Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth
day of the month, the city was broken up.
And on the ninth
day of the fourth month of
Zedekiah’s
eleventh year, the city was breached.
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that
day before thee.
“Go and tell Ebed-melech the
Cushite that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to
fulfill My words against this city for
harm and not for good, and on that
day they will be fulfilled before your eyes.
But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
But I will deliver you on that day, declares the LORD, and you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you fear.
And now, behold, I loose thee this
day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon,
forbear: behold, all the land is before thee:
whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
But now, behold, I am freeing you
today from the chains that were on your wrists. If it pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”
