There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
No king is saved by
his vast army; no
warrior is delivered by
his great strength.
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for salvation; even its great strength cannot save.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
Surely the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His loving devotion

rejoice in him, because we have trusted in
his holy name.
For our hearts
rejoice in Him, since we trust in
His holy name.
I will
bless the LORD at all times:
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
I will
bless the LORD at all times;
His praise will always be on my lips.
O
magnify the LORD with me, and let us
exalt his name together.
This poor man
cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all
his troubles.
This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles.
O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.

hid ensnare them; may they fall into the
hazard they created.

rejoice in
his salvation.

mourning for
his mother.
Let them
shout for joy, and be
glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be
magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of
his servant.
The
transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before
his eyes.
An
oracle is in my heart regarding the
transgression of the wicked man: There is no fear of God before
his eyes.
For he flattereth himself in
his own eyes, until
his iniquity be found to be
hateful.

his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is not good; he fails to
reject evil.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not
thyself because of him who prospereth in
his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

fret when men
prosper in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes.
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be:
yea, thou shalt

forsaken, nor
his seed
begging bread.

begging for bread.

merciful, and lendeth; and
his seed is blessed.
They are ever generous and quick to
lend, and their children are a blessing.

his heart;
his steps do not
falter.

his hand, nor
condemn him when he is judged.
the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned under judgment.
Wait on the LORD, and keep
his way, and he shall
exalt thee to
inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

His way, and He will raise you up to
inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

deaf man, heard not; and I was as a
dumb man that openeth not
his mouth.

deaf man, I do not hear; and like a
mute man, I do not open my mouth.
Behold, thou hast made my days as an
handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee:
verily every man at
his best state is altogether vanity.
Selah.
You, indeed, have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing before You. Truly each man at
his best exists as but a breath.
Selah When thou with rebukes
dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest
his beauty to
consume away like a
moth: surely every man is vanity.
Selah.
Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Blessed is the man who has made the LORD
his trust, who has not turned to the proud, nor to those who
lapse into
falsehood.
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou
wilt not deliver him unto the will of
his enemies.
The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will
bless him in the land and refuse to surrender him to the will of
his foes.
The LORD will
sustain him on
his bed of illness and restore him from
his bed of sickness.

downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for the salvation of
His presence.
Yet the LORD will command
his lovingkindness in the
daytime, and in the night
his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

The heathen
raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered
his voice, the earth melted.

his holiness.

redeem his brother, nor give to God a
ransom for him:

For the
redemption of
his soul is costly, and never can payment suffice,

Do not be
amazed when a man grows rich, when the
splendor of
his house increases.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
For when he dies, he will carry nothing away; his abundance will not follow him down.
Though while he lived he blessed
his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to
thyself.
Though in
his lifetime he blesses
his soul— and men praise you when you
prosper—
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of day.
He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
He
summons the heavens above, and the earth, that He may judge
His people:
And the heavens shall declare
his righteousness: for God is judge himself.
Selah.
And the heavens
proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge.
Selah Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth
his conversation
aright will I
shew the salvation of God.

fool hath said in
his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done
abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their ways are
vile. There is no one who does good.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of
his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.

Zion! When God restores
His captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!

his friends; he
violates his covenant.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
His speech is smooth as butter, but war is in
his heart.

unsheathed.
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me.

His loving devotion and
His truth.

and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds.

withheld from me
His loving devotion!
