herb yielding seed after

God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the
livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.

sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all
his work which God created and made.
Then God blessed the seventh day and
sanctified it, because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished.

breeze of the day, and they
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
And I will put
enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall
bruise thy head, and thou shalt
bruise his heel.
And I will put
enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will
crush your head, and you will strike
his heel.”

his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live
forever...”

gotten a man from the LORD.

And she again bare
his brother
Abel. And
Abel was a keeper of sheep, but
Cain was a tiller of the ground.
Later she gave birth to
Cain’s brother
Abel. Now
Abel was a keeper of sheep, while
Cain was a tiller of the soil.
And
Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of
his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto
Abel and to
his offering:
while
Abel brought the best portions of the
firstborn of
his flock. And the LORD looked with favor on
Abel and
his offering,
But unto
Cain and to
his offering he had not respect. And
Cain was very
wroth, and
his countenance fell.
but He had no regard for
Cain and
his offering. So
Cain became very
angry, and
his countenance fell.
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

crouching at your door; it desires you, but you must master it.”

Lamech said unto
his wives, Adah and

hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my

listen to my speech. For I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for striking me.

his wife again; and she bare a son, and called
his name

Seth, saying, “God has granted me another seed in place of
Abel, since
Cain killed him.”

Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called
his name
Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

begat a son in

his name
Seth:
When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son in
his own likeness, after
his own image; and he named him
Seth.
And he called
his name
Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and
toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath
cursed.
And he named him
Noah, saying, “May this one comfort us in the labor and
toil of our hands caused by the ground that the LORD has
cursed.”
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always
strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet
his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not
contend with man
forever, for he is
mortal;
his days shall be 120 years.”
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.
And it
repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it
grieved him at
his heart.
And the LORD
regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was
grieved in
His heart.
These are the generations of
Noah:
Noah was a just man and perfect in
his generations, and
Noah walked with God.
This is the account of
Noah.
Noah was a righteous man,
blameless in
his generation;
Noah walked with God.
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
And God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures on the earth had corrupted their ways.
Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every
creeping thing of the earth after
his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
Two of every kind of bird and animal and
crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
You are to take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its
mate; a pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its
mate;
And
Noah went in, and
his sons, and
his wife, and
his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
And
Noah and
his wife, with
his sons and their wives, entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.
On that very day
Noah entered the ark, along with
his sons
Shem,
Ham, and
Japheth, and
his wife, and the three wives of
his sons—
They, and every beast after
his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after
his kind, and every fowl after
his kind, every bird of every sort.
they and every kind of wild animal,
livestock,
crawling creature, bird, and winged creature.
But the
dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth
his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
But the
dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out
his hand and brought her back inside the ark.
And
Noah went forth, and
his sons, and
his wife, and
his sons’ wives with him:
So
Noah came out, along with
his sons and
his wife and
his sons’ wives.
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in
his heart, I will not again
curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from
his youth; neither will I again
smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
When the LORD smelled the pleasing
aroma, He said in
His heart, “Never again will I
curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of
his heart is evil from
his youth. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done.
And God blessed
Noah and
his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth.
And God blessed
Noah and
his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
And surely I will require the life of any man or beast by whose hand your
lifeblood is shed. I will demand an accounting from
anyone who takes the life of
his fellow man:
Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall
his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man
his blood will be shed; for in
His own image God has made mankind.
And God spake unto
Noah, and to
his sons with him, saying,
Then God said to

his sons with him,
And he
drank of the wine, and was
drunken; and he was uncovered within
his tent.
But when he
drank some of its wine, he became
drunk and uncovered himself inside
his tent.

Canaan, saw the nakedness of
his father, and told

his father’s nakedness and told
his two brothers outside.
And
Noah awoke from
his wine, and knew what
his younger son had done unto him.

Cursed be
Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto
his brethren.
he said, “
Cursed be
Canaan! A servant of servants shall he be to
his brothers.”
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of
Shem; and
Canaan shall be
his servant.
He also declared: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of
Shem! May
Canaan be the servant of
Shem.
By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
From these, the maritime peoples separated into their territories, according to their languages, by clans within their nations.
And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.
Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.
And
Haran died before
his father Terah in the land of
his nativity, in
Ur of the Chaldees.
During
his father Terah’s lifetime,
Haran died in
his native land, in
Ur of the Chaldeans.
And Terah took
Abram his son, and Lot the son of
Haran his son’s son, and Sarai
his daughter in law,
his son
Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from
Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of
Canaan; and they came unto
Haran, and dwelt there.
And Terah took
his son
Abram,
his grandson Lot son of
Haran, and
his daughter-in-law Sarai the wife of
Abram, and they set out from
Ur of the Chaldeans for the land of
Canaan. But when they arrived in
Haran, they settled there.
And
Abram took Sarai
his wife, and Lot
his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had
gotten in
Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of
Canaan; and into the land of
Canaan they came.
And
Abram took
his wife Sarai,
his nephew Lot, and all the possessions and people they had acquired in
Haran, and set out for the land of
Canaan. When they came to the land of
Canaan,
And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of
Bethel, and pitched
his tent, having
Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
From there
Abram moved on to the hill country east of
Bethel and pitched
his tent, with
Bethel to the west and
Ai to the east. There he built an altar to the LORD, and he called on the name of the LORD.
And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “Look, I know that you are a beautiful woman,
Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.
And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and
his house with great plagues because of Sarai
Abram’s wife.
The LORD, however,
afflicted Pharaoh and
his household with severe plagues because of
Abram’s wife Sarai.
And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
Then Pharaoh gave
his men orders concerning
Abram, and they sent him away with
his wife and all
his possessions.
And
Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and
his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
So
Abram went up out of Egypt into the Negev—he and
his wife and all
his possessions—and Lot was with him.
And he went on
his journeys from the south even to
Bethel, unto the place where
his tent had been at the beginning, between
Bethel and Hai;
From the Negev he journeyed from place to place toward
Bethel, until he came to the place between
Bethel and
Ai where
his tent had formerly been pitched,
And Lot lifted up
his eyes, and
beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
And Lot looked out and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan, all the way to Zoar, was well watered like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah.)
Abram dwelled in the land of
Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched
his tent toward
Sodom.
Abram lived in the land of
Canaan, but Lot settled in the cities of the plain and pitched
his tent toward
Sodom.
Then
Abram removed
his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of
Mamre, which is in
Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
So
Abram moved
his tent and went to live near the Oaks of
Mamre at
Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.
And they took Lot,
Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in
Sodom, and
his goods, and departed.
They also carried off
Abram’s nephew Lot and
his possessions, since Lot was living in
Sodom.
And when
Abram heard that
his brother was taken
captive, he armed
his trained servants, born in
his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto
Dan.
And when
Abram heard that
his relative had been captured, he
mobilized the 318 trained men born in
his household, and they set out in pursuit as far as
Dan.
And he divided himself against them, he and
his servants, by night, and
smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
During the night,
Abram divided
his forces and routed
Chedorlaomer’s army, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
He
retrieved all the goods, as well as
his relative Lot and
his possessions, together with the women and the rest of the people.
And the king of
Sodom went out to meet him after
his return from the slaughter of
Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s
dale.
After
Abram returned from defeating
Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of
Sodom went out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
And Sarai
Abram’s wife took
Hagar her
maid the Egyptian, after
Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of
Canaan, and gave her to her husband
Abram to be
his wife.
So after he had lived in
Canaan for ten years,
his wife Sarai took her Egyptian
maidservant Hagar and gave her to
Abram to be
his wife.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call
his name
Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy
affliction.
The angel of the LORD proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him
Ishmael, for the LORD has heard your cry of
affliction.
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
He will be a wild
donkey of a man, and
his hand will be against
everyone, and
everyone’s hand against him; he will live in hostility toward all
his brothers.”
And
Abram fell on
his face: and God talked with him, saying,
Then
Abram fell facedown, and God said to him,
But if any male is not
circumcised, he will be cut off from
his people; he has broken My covenant.”
Then Abraham fell upon
his face, and
laughed, and said in
his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall
Sarah, that is
ninety years old, bear?
Abraham fell facedown. Then he
laughed and said to himself, “Can a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Can
Sarah give birth at the age of
ninety?”
And God said,
Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call
his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an
everlasting covenant, and with
his seed after him.
But God replied, “Your wife
Sarah will indeed bear you a son, and you are to name him Isaac. I will establish My covenant with him as an
everlasting covenant for
his descendants after him.
And Abraham took
Ishmael his son, and all that were born in
his house, and all that were bought with
his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and
circumcised the flesh of their
foreskin in the
selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
On that very day Abraham took
his son
Ishmael and all those born in
his household or purchased with
his money—every male among the members of Abraham’s household—and he
circumcised them, just as God had told him.
And all the men of
his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were
circumcised with him.
And all the men of Abraham’s household—both servants born in
his household and those purchased from foreigners—were
circumcised with him.
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of
Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
Then the LORD appeared to Abraham by the Oaks of
Mamre in the heat of the day, while he was sitting at the entrance of
his tent.
And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
And Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
For I have chosen him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has promised.”
And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, He departed, and Abraham returned home.
And there came two angels to
Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of
Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with
his face toward the ground;
Now the two angels arrived at
Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the
gateway of the city. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them, bowed facedown,
And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into
his house; and he made them a feast, and did
bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
But Lot insisted so strongly that they followed him into
his house. He prepared a feast for them and
baked unleavened bread, and they
ate.
And Lot went out, and spake unto
his sons in law, which married
his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that
mocked unto
his sons in law.
So Lot went out and spoke to the sons-in-law who were
pledged in marriage to
his daughters. “Get up,” he said. “Get out of this place, for the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But
his sons-in-law thought he was
joking.
And while he
lingered, the men laid hold upon
his hand, and upon the hand of
his wife, and upon the hand of
his two daughters; the LORD being
merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
But when Lot
hesitated, the men
grabbed his hand and the hands of
his wife and
his two daughters. And they led them safely out of the city, because of the LORD’s
compassion for them.
But
his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a
pillar of salt.
But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a
pillar of salt.
And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains—for he was afraid to stay in Zoar—where they lived in a cave.
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
Come, let us get our father
drunk with wine so we can sleep with him and preserve
his line.”
