And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and
Obadiah, the
Levites, of the sons of Merari; and
Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the
Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
And the men did the work faithfully. The
Levites overseeing them were Jahath and
Obadiah, descendants of Merari, and
Zechariah and Meshullam, descendants of
Kohath. Other
Levites, all skilled with musical instruments,
Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the
Levites there were
scribes, and officers, and
porters.
were over the laborers and
supervised all who did the work, task by task. Some of the
Levites were
secretaries, officers, and gatekeepers.
And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
And he went up to the house of the LORD with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, as well as the priests and the Levites—all the people small and great—and in their hearing he read all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the LORD.
And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,
To the
Levites who taught all Israel and were holy to the LORD,
Josiah said: “Put the holy ark in the temple built by Solomon son of David king of Israel. It is not to be carried around on your shoulders. Now serve the LORD your God and His people Israel.
And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites.
Moreover, stand in the Holy Place by the divisions of the families of your
kinsmen the lay people, and by the divisions of the families of the
Levites.
And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the
Levites: Hilkiah and
Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the
passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
His officials also contributed willingly to the people and priests and
Levites. Hilkiah,
Zechariah, and Jehiel, the administrators of the house of God, gave the priests 2,600
Passover offerings and 300 bulls.
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the
Levites, gave unto the
Levites for
passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
Additionally, Conaniah and his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, as well as Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad, officers of the
Levites,
donated to the
Levites 5,000
Passover offerings and 500 bulls.
So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king’s commandment.
So the service was prepared; the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their divisions according to the king’s command.
And they slaughtered the
Passover lambs, while the priests
sprinkled the blood handed to them and the
Levites skinned the animals.
And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were
busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the
Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.
Afterward, they made preparations for themselves and for the priests, since the priests, the descendants of Aaron, were offering up burnt offerings and fat until
nightfall. So the
Levites made preparations for themselves and for the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
And the singers the sons of
Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and
Asaph, and Heman, and
Jeduthun the king’s
seer; and the
porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the
Levites prepared for them.
The singers, the descendants of
Asaph, were at their stations according to the command of David,
Asaph, Heman, and
Jeduthun the king’s
seer. And the gatekeepers at each gate did not need to leave their position, because their fellow
Levites made preparations for them.
And there was no
passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a
passover as
Josiah kept, and the priests, and the
Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
No such
Passover had been observed in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet. None of the kings of Israel ever observed a
Passover like the one that
Josiah observed with the priests, the
Levites, all Judah, the Israelites who were present, and the people of Jerusalem.
Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
So the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, along with the priests and
Levites—
everyone whose spirit God had
stirred—prepared to go up and rebuild the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.
The Levites: the children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy and four.
The Levites: the descendants of Jeshua and Kadmiel (through the line of Hodaviah), 74.
So the priests, and the
Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the
porters, and the
Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the
remnant of their brethren the priests and the
Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the
Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
In the second month of the second year after they had arrived at the house of God in Jerusalem,
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the rest of their associates including the priests, the
Levites, and all who had returned to Jerusalem from the captivity, began the work. They appointed
Levites twenty years of age or older to
supervise the construction of the house of the LORD.
Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
So Jeshua and his sons and brothers, Kadmiel and his sons (descendants of Yehudah), and the sons of Henadad and their sons and brothers—all
Levites—joined together to
supervise those working on the house of God.
And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their
apparel with
trumpets, and the
Levites the sons of
Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the
ordinance of David king of Israel.
When the builders had laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their
apparel with
trumpets, and the
Levites (the sons of
Asaph) with cymbals, took their positions to praise the LORD, as David king of Israel had prescribed.
But many of the priests and
Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes,
wept with a loud voice; and many
shouted aloud for joy:
But many of the older priests,
Levites, and family heads who had seen the first temple
wept loudly when they saw the foundation of this temple. Still, many others
shouted joyfully.
And the children of Israel, the priests, and the
Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the
dedication of this house of God with joy,
Then the people of Israel—the priests, the
Levites, and the rest of the exiles—celebrated the
dedication of the house of God with joy.
And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.
They also appointed the priests by their divisions and the Levites by their groups to the service of God in Jerusalem, according to what is written in the Book of Moses.
For the priests and the
Levites were
purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the
passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
All the priests and
Levites had
purified themselves and were
ceremonially clean. And the
Levites slaughtered the
Passover lamb for all the exiles, for their priestly brothers, and for themselves.
And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the
Levites, and the singers, and the
porters, and the
Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of
Artaxerxes the king.
So in the seventh year of King
Artaxerxes, he went up to Jerusalem with some of the Israelites, including priests,
Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants.
I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and
Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own
freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
I
hereby decree that any
volunteers among the Israelites in my kingdom, including the priests and
Levites, may go up with you to Jerusalem.
Also we
certify you, that touching any of the priests and
Levites, singers,
porters,
Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to
impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
And be
advised that you have no authority to
impose tribute, duty, or
toll on any of the priests,
Levites, singers, doorkeepers, temple servants, or other servants of this house of God.
And I gathered them together to the river than runneth to
Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
Now I assembled these exiles at the canal that flows to
Ahava, and we camped there three days. And when I searched among the people and priests, I found no
Levites there.
Also of the
Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the
Levites, two hundred and twenty
Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
They also brought 220 of the temple servants, all designated by name. David and the officials had appointed them to assist the Levites.
Watch ye, and keep them, until ye
weigh them before the chief of the priests and the
Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.
Guard them carefully until you
weigh them out in the chambers of the house of the LORD in Jerusalem before the leading priests,
Levites, and heads of the
Israelite families.”
So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
So the priests and
Levites took charge of the silver and gold and sacred articles that had been
weighed out to be taken to the house of our God in Jerusalem.
Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels
weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was
Eleazar the son of
Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui,
Levites;
On the fourth day, in the house of our God, we
weighed out the silver and gold and sacred articles into the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest.
Eleazar son of
Phinehas was with him, along with the
Levites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the
Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Perizzites, the Jebusites, the
Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the
Amorites.
After these things had been accomplished, the leaders approached me and said, “The people of Israel, including the priests and
Levites, have not kept themselves separate from the surrounding peoples whose abominations are like those of the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Perizzites, Jebusites,
Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and
Amorites.
Then arose
Ezra, and made the chief priests, the
Levites, and all Israel, to
swear that they should do according to this word. And they
sware.
So
Ezra got up and made the leading priests,
Levites, and all Israel take an oath to do what had been said. And they took the oath.
Only
Jonathan the son of
Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the
Levite helped them.
(Only
Jonathan son of
Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai the
Levite, opposed this plan.)
Also of the
Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and
Eliezer.
Among the
Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and
Eliezer.
After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.
Next to him, the Levites made repairs under Rehum son of Bani, and next to him, Hashabiah, ruler of a half-district of Keilah, made repairs for his district.
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the
porters and the singers and the
Levites were appointed,
When the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers, singers, and Levites were appointed.
The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, and of the children of Hodevah, seventy and four.
The Levites: the descendants of Jeshua (through Kadmiel, through the line of Hodevah), 74.
So the priests, and the
Levites, and the
porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the
Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
So the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with some of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns. And by the seventh month the Israelites had settled in their towns.
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita,
Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the
Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
The
Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita,
Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah—
instructed the people in the Law as they stood in their places.
And
Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and
Ezra the priest the
scribe, and the
Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God;
mourn not, nor
weep. For all the people
wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah the governor,
Ezra the priest and
scribe, and the
Levites who were
instructing the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not
mourn or
weep.” For all the people were
weeping as they heard the words of the Law.
So the
Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye
grieved.
And the
Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, since
today is holy. Do not
grieve.”
And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the
Levites, unto
Ezra the
scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and
Levites, gathered around
Ezra the
scribe to study the words of the Law.
Then stood up upon the stairs, of the
Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and
cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.
And the
Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani—stood on the raised platform and
cried out in a loud voice to the LORD their God.
Then the
Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and
bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is
exalted above all blessing and praise.
Then the
Levites—Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah—said, “Stand up and
bless the LORD your God from
everlasting to
everlasting: Blessed be Your glorious name, and may it be
exalted above all blessing and praise.
And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.
In view of all this, we make a binding agreement, putting it in writing and sealing it with the names of our leaders, Levites, and priests.”
And the Levites: both Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel;
The Levites: Jeshua son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel,
And the rest of the people, the priests, the
Levites, the
porters, the singers, the
Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
“The rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the people of the land to obey the Law of God—along with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand,
And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law:
We have cast lots among the priests,
Levites, and people for the
donation of wood by our families at the appointed times each year. They are to bring it to the house of our God to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law.
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our
dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the
tithes of our ground unto the
Levites, that the same
Levites might have the
tithes in all the cities of our
tillage.
Moreover, we will bring to the priests at the storerooms of the house of our God the firstfruits of our
dough, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees, and of our new wine and oil. A tenth of our produce belongs to the
Levites, so that they shall receive
tithes in all the towns where we labor.
And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the
Levites, when the
Levites take
tithes: and the
Levites shall bring up the
tithe of the
tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the
treasure house.
A priest of Aaron’s line is to
accompany the
Levites when they collect the tenth, and the
Levites are to bring a tenth of these
tithes to the storerooms of the treasury in the house of our God.
For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the
porters, and the singers: and we will not
forsake the house of our God.
For the Israelites and the Levites are to bring the contributions of grain, new wine, and oil to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are kept and where the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers stay. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.”
Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the
Levites, and the
Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants.
These are the heads of the provinces who settled in Jerusalem. (In the villages of Judah, however, each lived on his own property in their towns—the Israelites, priests, Levites, temple servants, and descendants of Solomon’s servants—
Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.
Shabbethai and Jozabad, two leaders of the
Levites, who
supervised the work outside the house of God;
All the
Levites in the holy city were two hundred
fourscore and four.
The Levites in the holy city totaled 284.
And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
The rest of the Israelites, with the priests and Levites, were in all the villages of Judah, each on his own inheritance.
The
overseer also of the
Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of
Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.
Now the
overseer of the
Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of
Mica. He was one of
Asaph’s descendants, who were the singers in charge of the service of the house of God.
And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.
And some divisions of the Levites of Judah settled in Benjamin.
Now these are the priests and the
Levites that went up with
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah,
Ezra,
Now these are the priests and
Levites who went up with
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah,
Ezra,
Moreover the
Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, which was over the
thanksgiving, he and his brethren.
The
Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who, with his associates, led the songs of
thanksgiving.
The
Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were recorded chief of the fathers: also the priests, to the reign of
Darius the Persian.
In the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, during the reign of
Darius the Persian, the heads of the families of the
Levites and priests were recorded.
And the chief of the
Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and to give
thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.
The leaders of the
Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, along with their associates, who stood across from them to give praise and
thanksgiving as one section alternated with the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.
And at the
dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the
Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the
dedication with
gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals,
psalteries, and with harps.
And the priests and the
Levites purified themselves, and
purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.
After the priests and
Levites had
purified themselves, they
purified the people, the gates, and the wall.
And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the
tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and
Levites: for Judah
rejoiced for the priests and for the
Levites that waited.
And on that same day men were appointed over the rooms that housed the supplies, contributions, firstfruits, and
tithes. The portions specified by the Law for the priests and
Levites were gathered into these storerooms from the fields of the villages, because Judah
rejoiced over the priests and
Levites who were serving.
And all Israel in the days of
Zerubbabel, and in the days of
Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the
porters, every day his portion: and they
sanctified holy things unto the
Levites; and the
Levites sanctified them unto the children of Aaron.
So in the days of
Zerubbabel and
Nehemiah, all Israel contributed the daily portions for the singers and gatekeepers. They also set aside daily portions for the
Levites, and the
Levites set aside daily portions for the descendants of Aaron.
And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where
aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the
frankincense, and the vessels, and the
tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the
Levites, and the singers, and the
porters; and the offerings of the priests.
and had prepared for
Tobiah a large room where they had previously stored the grain offerings, the
frankincense, the temple articles, and the
tithes of grain, new wine, and oil prescribed for the
Levites, singers, and gatekeepers, along with the contributions for the priests.
And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
I also learned that because the portions for the Levites had not been given to them, all the Levites and singers responsible for performing the service had gone back to their own fields.
Then
contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God
forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
So I
rebuked the officials and asked, “Why has the house of God been neglected?” Then I gathered the
Levites and singers together and stationed them at their posts,
And I made treasurers over the
treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and
Zadok the
scribe, and of the
Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
I appointed as treasurers over the storerooms Shelemiah the priest,
Zadok the
scribe, and Pedaiah of the
Levites, with Hanan son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah, to assist them, because they were considered
trustworthy. They were responsible for distributing the supplies to their fellow
Levites.
And I commanded the
Levites that they should
cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to
sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and
spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
Then I
instructed the
Levites to
purify themselves and guard the gates in order to keep the Sabbath day holy. Remember me for this as well, O my God, and show me mercy according to Your abundant loving devotion.
Remember them, O my God, because they have
defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the
Levites.
Remember them, O my God, because they have
defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and of the
Levites.
Thus
cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the
Levites, every one in his business;
Thus I
purified the priests and
Levites from everything foreign, and I assigned specific duties to each of the priests and
Levites.
And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.
“And I will select some of them as priests and Levites,” says the LORD.
Neither shall the priests the
Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to
kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
nor will the priests who are Levites ever fail to have a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to present sacrifices.”
Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant and with My ministers the Levites who are priests, so that David will not have a son to reign on his throne.
As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
As the hosts of heaven cannot be counted and as the sand on the
seashore cannot be measured, so too will I multiply the descendants of My servant David and the
Levites who minister before Me.”
And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of
Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.
and the chamber that faces north is for the priests who keep charge of the altar. These are the sons of
Zadok, the only
Levites who may approach the LORD to minister before Him.”
And thou shalt give to the priests the
Levites that be of the seed of
Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young
bullock for a sin offering.
You are to give a young bull from the
herd as a sin offering to the
Levitical priests who are of the family of
Zadok, who approach Me to minister before Me, declares the Lord GOD.
And the
Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went
astray, which went
astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity.
Surely the
Levites who
wandered away from Me when Israel went
astray, and who
wandered away from Me after their idols, will bear the consequences of their iniquity.
But the priests the
Levites, the sons of
Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went
astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD:
But the
Levitical priests, who are descended from
Zadok and who kept charge of My sanctuary when the Israelites went
astray from Me, are to approach Me to minister before Me. They will stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood, declares the Lord GOD.
And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the Levites, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.
An adjacent area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide shall belong to the Levites who minister in the temple; it will be their possession for towns in which to live.
It shall be for the priests that are
sanctified of the sons of
Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not
astray when the children of Israel went
astray, as the
Levites went
astray.
It will be for the consecrated priests, the descendants of
Zadok, who kept My charge and did not go
astray as the
Levites did when the Israelites went
astray.
And this
oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the
Levites.
It will be a special portion for them set apart from the land, a most holy portion adjacent to the territory of the Levites.
And over against the border of the priests the Levites shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.
Bordering the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have an area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. The whole length will be 25,000 cubits, and the width 10,000 cubits.
Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
So the
Levitical property and the city property will lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
So too, when a Levite came to that spot and saw him, he passed by on the other side.
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
And this was John’s testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him, “Who are you?”
Joseph, a
Levite from
Cyprus, whom the apostles called
Barnabas (meaning Son of Encouragement),
And here men that die receive
tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And he spake unto the
Levites, the holy ministers of Israel, that they should
hallow themselves unto the Lord, to set the holy ark of the Lord in the house that king Solomon the son of David had built:
According as David the king of Israel prescribed, and according to the
magnificence of Solomon his son: and standing in the temple according to the several dignity of the families of you the
Levites, who minister in the presence of your brethren the children of Israel,
And unto the people that was found there Josias gave thirty thousand lambs and kids, and three thousand
calves: these things were given of the king’s allowance, according as he promised, to the people, to the priests, and to the
Levites.
And Jeconias, and Samaias, and
Nathanael his brother, and Assabias, and Ochiel, and
Joram, captains over thousands, gave to the
Levites for the
passover five thousand sheep, and seven hundred
calves.
And when these things were done, the priests and
Levites, having the
unleavened bread, stood in very comely order according to the kindreds,
For the priests offered the fat until night: and the Levites prepared for themselves, and the priests their brethren, the sons of Aaron.
Moreover the
porters were at every gate; it was not lawful for any to go from his ordinary service: for their brethren the
Levites prepared for them.
Yea, all the kings of Israel held not such a
passover as Josias, and the priests, and the
Levites, and the Jews, held with all Israel that were found dwelling at Jerusalem.
Then the chief of the families of
Judea and of the tribe of Benjamin stood up; the priests also, and the
Levites, and all they whose mind the Lord had moved to go up, and to build an house for the Lord at Jerusalem,
And likewise for the charges of the Levites, to be given them until the day that the house were finished, and Jerusalem builded up.
