amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?
bid her therefore that she help me.
But
Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”
And Jesus answered and said unto her,
Martha,

Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
“Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.
There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a wife, but died childless.
And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
and the third married the widow, and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children.
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
So then, in the resurrection, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.”

For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will
shew him greater works than these, that ye may

amazement, He will show Him even greater works than these.
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
Do not be

And the Jews
marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
The Jews were
amazed and asked, “How did this man attain such learning without having studied?”
Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all
marvel.
The man answered and said unto them, Why
herein is a
marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
“That is remarkable indeed!” the man said. “You do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes.
At this time a man named
Lazarus was sick. He lived in
Bethany, the village of
Mary and her sister
Martha.
And many of the Jews came to
Martha and
Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
and many of the Jews had come to
Martha and
Mary to
console them in the loss of their brother.
Then
Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but
Mary sat still in the house.
So when
Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet Him; but
Mary stayed at home.
Then said
Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Martha replied, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
After
Martha had said this, she went back and called her sister
Mary aside to tell her, “The Teacher is here and is asking for you.”
As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
And when Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to Him.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where
Martha met him.
Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where
Martha had met Him.
The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw
Mary, that she rose up
hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to
weep there.
When the Jews who were in the house
consoling Mary saw how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to
mourn there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

Martha, the sister of the dead man. “It has already been four days.”

The first day of the week cometh
Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the
sepulchre, and
seeth the stone taken away from the
sepulchre.
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
But
Mary stood outside the tomb
weeping. And as she
wept, she bent down to look into the tomb,
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
Mary Magdalene went and
announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them what He had said to her.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the
nails, and put my finger into the print of the
nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I see the
nail marks in His hands, and put my finger where the
nails have been, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe.”
These all continued with one
accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and
Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
With one
accord they all continued in prayer, along with the women and
Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
And they were all
amazed and
marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why
marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or
holiness we had made this man to walk?
And when Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why are you surprised by this? Why do you
stare at us as if by our own power or
godliness we had made this man walk?
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they
marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they
marveled and took note that these men had been with Jesus.
When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
When Moses saw it, he
marveled at the sight. As he approached to look more closely, the voice of the Lord came to him:
And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of
Mary the mother of John, whose
surname was
Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
And when he had realized this, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered together and were praying.
And
Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose
surname was
Mark.
When
Barnabas and Saul had fulfilled their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, bringing with them John, also called
Mark.
Barnabas wanted to take John, also called
Mark.
Their disagreement was so sharp that they parted company.
Barnabas took
Mark and sailed for
Cyprus,
And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and
Silas, and drew them into the
marketplace unto the rulers,
When the
girl’s owners saw that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and
Silas and
dragged them before the authorities in the
marketplace.
But the Jews which believed not, moved with
envy, took unto them certain
lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an
uproar, and
assaulted the house of
Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
The Jews, however, became
jealous. So they brought in some troublemakers from the
marketplace, formed a
mob, and sent the city into an
uproar. They
raided Jason’s house in search of Paul and
Silas, hoping to bring them out to the people.
Therefore disputed he in the
synagogue with the Jews, and with the
devout persons, and in the
market daily with them that met with him.
So he reasoned in the
synagogue with the Jews and God-fearing Gentiles, and in the
marketplace with those he met each day.
Then Paul stood in the midst of
Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too
superstitious.
Then Paul stood up in the meeting of the
Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that in every way you are very religious.
And when the blood of thy
martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the
raiment of them that
slew him.
And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my
approval and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
For instance, a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.
So then if, while her husband liveth, she be
married to another man, she shall be called an
adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no
adulteress, though she be
married to another man.
So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an
adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law and is not an
adulteress, even if she
marries another man.
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you.
Now I
beseech you, brethren,
mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Now I
urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who
create divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.
Let the husband render unto the wife due
benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
The husband should
fulfill his
marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
But and if thou
marry, thou hast not
sinned; and if a virgin
marry, she hath not
sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I
spare you.
But if you do
marry, you have not
sinned. And if a virgin
marries, she has not
sinned. But those who
marry will face troubles in this life, and I want to
spare you this.
But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife,
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband.
But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
However, if someone thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his
betrothed, and if she is beyond her youth and they ought to
marry, let him do as he wishes; he is not
sinning; they should get
married.
Nevertheless he that standeth
stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.
But the man who is firmly established in his heart and under no
constraint, with control over his will and
resolve in his heart not to
marry the virgin, he will do well.
