And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
And when they came into the city,
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah and the men with him slaughtered them and threw them into a
cistern.
Now the pit wherein
Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which
Asa the king had made for fear of
Baasha king of Israel: and
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
Now the
cistern into which
Ishmael had thrown all the bodies of the men he had struck down along with Gedaliah was a large one that King
Asa had made for fear of
Baasha king of Israel.
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah filled it with the slain.
Then
Ishmael carried away
captive all the residue of the people that were in
Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in
Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam: and
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah carried them away
captive, and departed to go over to the
Ammonites.
But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah had done,
When Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies with him heard of all the crimes that
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah had committed,
Then they took all the men, and went to fight with
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in
Gibeon.
they took all their men and went to fight
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah. And they found him near the great
pool in
Gibeon.
But
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the
Ammonites.
But
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah and eight of his men escaped from Johanan and went to the
Ammonites.
Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the
remnant of the people whom he had recovered from
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah, from
Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from
Gibeon:
Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies with him took the whole
remnant of the people from
Mizpah whom he had recovered from
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah after
Ishmael had killed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam: the soldiers, women, children, and court officials he had brought back from
Gibeon.
Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because
Ishmael the son of
Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
to escape the Chaldeans. For they were afraid of the Chaldeans because
Ishmael son of
Nethaniah had struck down Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.
And a
chapiter of brass was upon it; and the height of one
chapiter was five cubits, with
network and pomegranates upon the chapiters round about, all of brass. The second
pillar also and the pomegranates were like unto these.
The bronze capital
atop one
pillar was five cubits high, with a
network of bronze pomegranates all around. The second
pillar, with its pomegranates, was similar.
And there were
ninety and six pomegranates on a side; and all the pomegranates upon the
network were an hundred round about.
Each capital had
ninety-six pomegranates on the sides, and a total of a hundred pomegranates were above the surrounding
network.
From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a
net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me
desolate and
faint all the day.
He sent fire from on high, and it overpowered my bones. He spread a
net for my feet and turned me back. He made me
desolate,
faint all the day long.
My
net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my
snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.
But I will spread My
net over him, and he will be caught in My
snare. I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, and there he will die.
And I will spread my
net upon him, and he shall be taken in my
snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will
plead with him there for his
trespass that he hath
trespassed against me.
I will spread My
net over him and catch him in My
snare. I will bring him to Babylon and
execute judgment upon him there for the treason he committed against Me.
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
Then the nations set out against him from the provinces on every side. They spread their
net over him; he was
trapped in their pit.
It shall be a place for the spreading of
nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a
spoil to the nations.
She will become a place to spread
nets in the sea, for I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD. She will become
plunder for the nations,
And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread the fishing nets. You will never be rebuilt, for I, the LORD, have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.’
To the end that none of all the trees by the waters
exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the
nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
This happened so that no other trees by the waters would become great in height and set their tops among the clouds, and no other well-watered trees would reach them in height. For they have all been
consigned to death, to the depths of the earth, among the mortals who descend to the Pit.’
I made the nations to
shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to
hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of
Eden, the choice and best of
Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the
nether parts of the earth.
I made the nations
quake at the sound of its
downfall, when I cast it down to
Sheol with those who descend to the Pit. Then all the trees of
Eden, the choicest and best of
Lebanon, all the well-watered trees, were
consoled in the earth below.
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of
Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of
Eden unto the
nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the
uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
Who then is like you in glory and greatness among the trees of
Eden? You also will be brought down to the depths of the earth to be with the trees of
Eden. You will lie among the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.’”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will spread My net over you with a company of many peoples, and they will draw you up in My net.
Son of man,
wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the
nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
“Son of man,
wail for the multitudes of Egypt, and
consign her and the daughters of the mighty nations to the depths of the earth with those who descend to the Pit:
There is
Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down
uncircumcised into the
nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
Elam is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword— those who went down
uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
Fishermen will stand by the shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim they will spread their
nets to catch fish of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.
Hear ye this, O priests; and
hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a
snare on
Mizpah, and a
net spread upon
Tabor.
“Hear this, O priests! Take
heed, O house of Israel! Give ear, O royal house! For this judgment is against you because you have been a
snare at
Mizpah, a
net spread out on
Tabor.
When they shall go, I will spread my
net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will
chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
As they go, I will spread My
net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will
chastise them when I hear them flocking together.
For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up,
Memphis shall
bury them: the pleasant places for their silver,
nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
For even if they
flee destruction, Egypt will gather them and
Memphis will
bury them. Their precious silver will be taken over by thistles, and thorns will overrun their tents.
The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they
hunt every man his brother with a
net.
The godly man has perished from the earth; there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; they
hunt one another with a
net.
They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their
net, and gather them in their
drag: therefore they
rejoice and are
glad.
The
foe pulls all of them up with a hook; he catches them in his
dragnet, and gathers them in his fishing
net; so he rejoices
gladly.
Therefore they sacrifice unto their
net, and burn incense unto their
drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat
plenteous.
Therefore he sacrifices to his
dragnet and burns incense to his fishing
net, for by these things his portion is
sumptuous and his food is rich.
Shall they therefore empty their
net, and not
spare continually to
slay the nations?
Will he, therefore, empty his
net and continue to
slay nations without mercy?
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
And Jesus, walking by the sea of
Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a
net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a
net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
And they
straightway left their
nets, and followed him.
And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father,
mending their
nets; and he called them.
Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee,
mending their
nets. Jesus called them,
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was cast into the sea and caught all kinds of fish.
Now as he walked by the sea of
Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a
net into the sea: for they were fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a
net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship
mending their
nets.
Going on a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat,
mending their
nets.
And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the
fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their
nets.
He saw two boats at the edge of the lake. The
fishermen had left them and were washing their
nets.
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon,
Launch out into the deep, and let down your
nets for a draught.
When Jesus had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have
toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the
net.
“Master,” Simon replied, “we have worked hard all night without catching anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their
net brake.
When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their
nets began to
tear.
And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
He told them, “Cast the
net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to
haul it in because of the great number of fish.
And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,)
dragging the
net with fishes.
The other disciples came
ashore in the boat. They
dragged in the
net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.
Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
So Simon Peter went
aboard and
dragged the
net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the
net was not
torn.
They of Netophah, fifty and five: they of Anathoth, an hundred fifty and eight: they of Bethsamos, forty and two:
