weep, as if they did not; those who are joyful, as if they were not; those who make a purchase, as if they had
nothing;

despise the church of God and
humiliate those who have
nothing? What can I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? No, I will not!
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

nothing.

rejoice, not that ye were made
sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made
sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in
nothing.

rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to
repentance. For you felt the sorrow that God had intended, and so were not
harmed in any way by us.

fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been
commended of you: for in

commended me, since I am in no way inferior to those “
super-apostles,” even though I am
nothing.

favoritism—those leaders added
nothing to me.
