Her princes are
roaring lions; her judges are evening
wolves, leaving
nothing for the morning.
Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and
equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
True instruction was in his mouth, and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for
nothing, but to be cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
savor, how can it be made
salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and
trampled by men.
And when the devil was cast out, the
dumb spake: and the multitudes
marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.
And when the
demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were
amazed and said, “
Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”
Fear them not therefore: for there is
nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and
hid, that shall not be known.
So do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have
nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way.
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have
nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away
hungry, or they may
faint along the way.”
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for
verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of
mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to
yonder place; and it shall remove; and
nothing shall be impossible unto you.
“Because you have so little faith,” He answered. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a
mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.
Nothing will be impossible for you.”
And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.
And about the
eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
About the
eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing
nothing?’ he asked.
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found
nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee
henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree
withered away.
Seeing a fig tree by the road, He went up to it but found
nothing on it except leaves. “May you never bear fruit again!” He said. And immediately the tree
withered.
Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If
anyone swears by the temple, it means
nothing; but if
anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
And,
Whosoever shall
swear by the altar, it is
nothing; but
whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
And you say, ‘If
anyone swears by the altar, it means
nothing; but if
anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
For I was an
hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
For I was
hungry and you gave Me
nothing to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave Me
nothing to drink,
And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
So the high priest stood up and asked Him, “Have You no answer? What are these men
testifying against You?”
And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
And when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He gave no answer.
When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
While
Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Have
nothing to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered
terribly in a dream
today because of Him.”
When
Pilate saw that he could prevail
nothing, but that rather a
tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
When
Pilate saw that he was
accomplishing nothing, but that instead a
riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “You bear the
responsibility.”
And saith unto him, See thou say
nothing to any man: but go thy way,
shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy
cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
“See that you don’t tell
anyone. But go, show
yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your
cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
For there is
nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be brought to light.
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
She had borne much
agony under the care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no
avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.
And commanded them that they should take
nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no
scrip, no bread, no money in their
purse:
He
instructed them to take
nothing but a staff for the journey—no bread, no
bag, no money in their belts—
Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and
buy themselves bread: for they have
nothing to eat.
Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the surrounding
countryside and villages and
buy themselves something to eat.”
There is
nothing from without a man, that entering into him can
defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that
defile the man.
Nothing that enters a man from the outside can
defile him; but the things that come out of a man, these are what
defile him.”
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that
whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot
defile him;
“Are you still so dull?” He asked. “Do you not understand?
Nothing that enters a man from the outside can
defile him,
In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
In those days the crowd once again became very large, and they had nothing to eat. Jesus called the disciples to Him and said,
I have
compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have
nothing to eat:
“I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have
nothing to eat.
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Jesus answered, “This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.”
And seeing a fig tree
afar off having leaves, he came, if
haply he might find any thing
thereon: and when he came to it, he found
nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if there was any fruit on it. But when He reached it, He found nothing on it except leaves, since it was not the season for figs.
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
So the high priest stood up before them and questioned Jesus, “Have You no answer? What are these men
testifying against You?”
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
But Jesus remained silent and made no reply. Again the high priest questioned Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
And the chief priests began to
accuse Him of many things.
And
Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou
nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
Then
Pilate questioned Him again, “Have You no answer? Look how many charges they are bringing against You!”
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
For no word from God will ever fail.”
Being forty days
tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat
nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward
hungered.
where for forty days He was
tempted by the devil. He
ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was
hungry.
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have
toiled all the night, and have taken
nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
“Master,” Simon replied, “we have worked hard all night without catching anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for
nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the
unthankful and to the evil.
But love your enemies, do good to them, and
lend to them, expecting
nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the
ungrateful and wicked.
And when they had
nothing to pay, he
frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
When they were unable to repay him, he
forgave both of them. Which one, then, will love him more?”
For
nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing
hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.
And he said unto them, Take
nothing for your journey, neither
staves, nor
scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats
apiece.
“Take
nothing for the journey,” He told them, “no staff, no
bag, no bread, no money, no second
tunic.
Behold, I give unto you power to
tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and
nothing shall by any means
hurt you.
Behold, I have given you authority to
tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.
Nothing will
harm you.
For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’
For there is
nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither
hid, that shall not be known.
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.
And he said unto them, When I sent you without
purse, and
scrip, and
shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said,
Nothing.
Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without
purse or
bag or
sandals, did you lack anything?” “
Nothing,” they answered.
Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
Herod questioned Jesus at great length, but He gave no answer.
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
Neither has Herod, for he sent Him back to us. As you can see, He has done nothing deserving of death.
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done
nothing amiss.
We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
John replied, “A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
“Sir,” the woman replied, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where then will You get this living water?
But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, The Son can do
nothing of himself, but what he
seeth the Father do: for what things
soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
And when
everyone was full, He said to His disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over, so that
nothing will be wasted.”
And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
Yet here He is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ?
Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing on My own, but speak exactly what the Father has taught Me.
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
Jesus answered, “If I
glorify Myself, My glory means
nothing. The One who glorifies Me is My Father, of whom you say ‘He is our God.’
If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
If this man were not from God, He could do no such thing.”
And one of them, named
Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know
nothing at all,
But one of them, named
Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know
nothing at all!
The
Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail
nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
Then the
Pharisees said to one another, “You can see that this is doing you no good. Look how the whole world has gone after Him!”
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath
nothing in me.
I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming, and he has no claim on Me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
And in that day ye shall ask me
nothing.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
In that day you will no longer ask Me anything. Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Until now you have not asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the
synagogue, and in the temple,
whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said
nothing.
“I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus answered. “I always taught in the synagogues and at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.
And beholding the man which was
healed standing with them, they could say
nothing against it.
And seeing the man who had been
healed standing there with them, they had
nothing to say in
response.
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding
nothing how they might
punish them, because of the people: for all men
glorified God for that which was done.
After further threats they let them go. They could not find a way to
punish them, because all the people were
glorifying God for what had happened.
For before these days rose up Theudas,
boasting himself to be
somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to
nought.
Some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be
somebody, and about four hundred men joined him. He was killed, all his followers were
dispersed, and it all came to
nothing.
Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
Then another king, who knew nothing of Joseph, arose over Egypt.
Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
‘No, Lord,’ I said, ‘for nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
And the spirit
bade me go with them,
nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
The Spirit told me to
accompany them without
hesitation. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s home.
(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
Now all the Athenians and foreigners who lived there spent their time doing
nothing more than hearing and
articulating new ideas.
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do
nothing rashly.
Since these things are
undeniable, you ought to be calm and not do anything
rash.
And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
I did not
shrink back from declaring anything that was helpful to you as I taught you publicly and from house to house,
Them take, and
purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may
shave their heads: and all may know that those things,
whereof they were informed concerning thee, are
nothing; but that thou
thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
Take these men,
purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so they can have their heads
shaved. Then
everyone will know that there is no truth to these rumors about you, but that you also live in obedience to the law.
And there arose a great cry: and the
scribes that were of the
Pharisees’ part arose, and
strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
A great
clamor arose, and some
scribes from the party of the
Pharisees got up and
contended sharply, “We find
nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great
curse, that we will eat
nothing until we have slain Paul.
They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.
Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.
I found that the
accusation involved questions about their own law, but there was no charge worthy of death or imprisonment.
Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
Paul replied, “I am standing before the judgment seat of Caesar, where I ought to be tried. I have done
nothing wrong to the Jews, as you
yourself know very well.
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
But I found he had done nothing worthy of death, and since he has now appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.
Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king
Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
I have
nothing definite to write to our sovereign one about him. Therefore I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King
Agrippa, so that after this inquiry I may have something to write.
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
But I have had God’s help to this day, and I stand here to
testify to small and great alike. I am saying
nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen:
And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
On their way out, they said to one another, “This man has done nothing worthy of death or imprisonment.”
And while the day was coming on, Paul
besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the
fourteenth day that ye have
tarried and continued fasting, having taken
nothing.
Howbeit they looked when he should have
swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no
harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
The islanders were expecting him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
After three days, he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered, he said to them, “Brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, I was taken prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
I am
convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that
nothing is unclean in itself. But if
anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to
nothing the understanding of the
prudent.
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will
frustrate.”
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him
crucified.
For I resolved to know
nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him
crucified.
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to
nought:
Among the
mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom—but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to
nothing.
For I know
nothing by myself; yet am I not
hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
My conscience is clear, but that does not
vindicate me. It is the Lord who judges me.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
Therefore judge
nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will
expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
