old and upward, shall see the land which I
sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

Thy
raiment waxed not
old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
Your clothing did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s
landmark, which they of
old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt
inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
You must not move your
neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the inheritance you shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the
old, nor
shew favour to the young:
a
ruthless nation with no respect for the
old and no
pity for the young.
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not
waxen old upon you, and thy
shoe is not
waxen old upon thy foot.

old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will
shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

And Moses was an hundred and twenty years
old when he died: his eye was not
dim, nor his natural force
abated.
Moses was a hundred and twenty years
old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak, and his
vitality had not diminished.
And the
manna ceased on the
morrow after they had eaten of the
old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel
manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of
Canaan that year.
And the day after they had eaten from the produce of the land, the
manna ceased. There was no more
manna for the Israelites, so that year they began to eat the crops of the land of
Canaan.
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and
old, and ox, and sheep, and
ass, with the edge of the sword.
At the edge of the sword they devoted to destruction everything in the city—man and woman, young and
old, oxen, sheep, and
donkeys.
They did work
wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took
old sacks upon their
asses, and wine bottles,
old, and rent, and bound up;
And
old shoes and
clouted upon their feet, and
old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and
mouldy.
And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our
shoes are become
old by reason of the very long journey.
These wineskins were new when we filled them, but look, they are
cracked. And these clothes and
sandals are worn out from our very long journey.”

Forty years
old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
I was forty years
old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
spy out the land, and I brought back to him an
honest report.
And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel
wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day
fourscore and five years
old.
Now behold, as the LORD promised, He has kept me alive these forty-five years since He spoke this word to Moses, while Israel
wandered in the wilderness. So here I am
today, eighty-five years
old,
And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed
old and
stricken in age.
A long time after the LORD had given Israel rest from all the enemies around them, when Joshua was old and well along in years,
And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am
old and
stricken in age:
he summoned all Israel, including its elders, leaders, judges, and officers. “I am old and well along in years,” he said,
And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
And Joshua said to all the people, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Long ago your fathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and
Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates and worshiped other gods.
And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of
Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years
old.
Some time later, Joshua son of
Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of 110.
And Joshua the son of
Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years
old.
And Joshua son of
Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of 110.
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young
bullock, even the second
bullock of seven years
old, and throw down the altar of
Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the
grove that is by it:
On that very night the LORD said to
Gideon, “Take your father’s young bull and a second bull seven years
old,
tear down your father’s altar to
Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
And
Gideon the son of
Joash died in a good
old age, and was buried in the
sepulchre of
Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.
Later,
Gideon son of
Joash died at a ripe
old age and was buried in the tomb of his father
Joash in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
And, behold, there came an
old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he
sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.
That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was residing in Gibeah (the men of that place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the field.
And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a
wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the
old man said,
Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
When he looked up and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, “Where are you going, and where have you come from?”
And the
old man said, Peace be with thee;
howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only
lodge not in the street.
“Peace to you,” said the
old man. “Let me supply everything you need. Only do not
spend the night in the square.”
Now as they were making their hearts
merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of
Belial,
beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the
old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.
While they were enjoying themselves, suddenly the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they said to the old man who owned the house, “Bring out the man who came to your house, so we can have relations with him!”
Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
Return home, my daughters. Go on, for I am too
old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was hope for me to have a husband
tonight and to bear sons,
