Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and
plant that that was
desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.
Then the nations around you that remain will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed, and I have replanted what was
desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain, but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre,
planted in a
meadow. But Ephraim will bring out his children for slaughter.
Forasmuch therefore as your
treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of
hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have
planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
Therefore, because you
trample on the poor and exact from him a tax of grain, you will never live in the stone houses you have built; you will never drink the wine from the
lush vineyards you have
planted.
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had eaten every green
plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
I will firmly plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.
And the LORD God prepared a
gourd, and made it to come up over
Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So
Jonah was exceeding
glad of the
gourd.
So the LORD God appointed a vine, and it grew up to provide shade over
Jonah’s head to ease his discomfort, and
Jonah was greatly pleased with the
plant.
But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it
smote the
gourd that it
withered.
When
dawn came the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the
plant so that it
withered.
And God said to
Jonah, Doest thou well to be
angry for the
gourd? And he said, I do well to be
angry, even unto death.
Then God asked
Jonah, “Have you any right to be
angry about the
plant?” “I do,” he replied. “I am
angry enough to die!”
Then said the LORD, Thou hast had
pity on the
gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
But the LORD said, “You cared about the
plant, which you neither tended nor made grow. It
sprang up in a night and perished in a night.
Therefore I will make Samaria as an
heap of the field, and as
plantings of a
vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
Therefore I will make Samaria a
heap of
rubble in the open field, a
planting area for a
vineyard. I will pour her stones into the valley and
expose her foundations.
Therefore their goods shall become a
booty, and their houses a
desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall
plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
Their wealth will be
plundered and their houses laid waste. They will build houses but not inhabit them, and
plant vineyards but never drink their wine.
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye
clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a
bag with holes.
You have
planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You
earn wages to put into a
bag pierced through.”
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of
mustard seed, which a man took, and
sowed in his field:
He put before them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a
mustard seed that a man
planted in his field.
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and
lodge in the branches thereof.
Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
But Jesus replied, “Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by its roots.
Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which
planted a
vineyard, and
hedged it round about, and
digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country:
Listen to another parable: There was a
landowner who
planted a
vineyard. He put a wall around it,
dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.
But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may
lodge under the shadow of it.
But after it is planted, it grows to be the largest of all garden plants and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air nest in its shade.”
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man
planted a
vineyard, and set an
hedge about it, and
digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “A man
planted a
vineyard. He put a wall around it,
dug a wine
vat, and built a
watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree
planted in his
vineyard; and he came and sought fruit
thereon, and found none.
Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was
planted in his
vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of
mustard seed, ye might say unto this
sycamine tree, Be thou
plucked up by the root, and be thou
planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
And the Lord answered, “If you have faith the size of a
mustard seed, you can say to this
mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and
planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they
drank, they bought, they sold, they
planted, they builded;
It was the same in the days of Lot: People were eating and drinking,
buying and selling,
planting and building.
Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man
planted a
vineyard, and let it forth to
husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
Then He proceeded to tell the people this parable: “A man
planted a
vineyard, rented it out to some tenants, and went away for a long time.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who
planteth a
vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who
plants a
vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Who tends a flock and does not drink of its milk?
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man
fade away in his ways.
For the sun rises with
scorching heat and
withers the
plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will
fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
Therefore, get rid of all moral
filth and every expression of evil, and
humbly accept the word
planted in you, which can save your souls.
And it was commanded them that they should not
hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
They were told not to
harm the grass of the earth or any
plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
If he command to cut down, they cut down; if he command to plant, they plant.
Even of them came they: and they
nourished them up that
planted the vineyards, from whence the wine cometh.
O Lord, who bearest rule, thou spakest at the beginning, when thou
didst plant the earth, and that
thyself alone, and commandedst the people,
And thou leadest him into
paradise, which thy right hand had
planted, before ever the earth came forward.
Upon the third day thou
didst command that the waters should be gathered in the seventh part of the earth: six parts hast thou dried up, and kept them, to the intent that of these some being
planted of God and tilled might serve thee.
For as the
husbandman soweth much seed upon the ground, and
planteth many trees, and yet the thing that is sown good in his season cometh not up, neither
doth all that is
planted take root: even so is it of them that are sown in the world; they shall not all be saved.
For unto you is
paradise opened, the tree of life is
planted, the time to come is prepared,
plenteousness is made ready, a city is builded, and rest is allowed,
yea, perfect goodness and wisdom.
And I saw, and
spared it greatly, and have kept me a
grape of the
cluster, and a
plant of a great people.
Let the multitude perish then, which was born in vain; and let my
grape be kept, and my
plant; for with great labour have I made it perfect.
He that soweth, as if he should not
reap: so also he that
planteth the
vineyard, as he that shall not gather the grapes:
The natures of living creatures, and the
furies of wild beasts: the violence of winds, and the reasonings of men: the
diversities of
plants and the virtues of roots:
Of whose wickedness even to this day the waste land that smoketh is a testimony, and
plants bearing fruit that never come to ripeness: and a standing
pillar of salt is a monument of an unbelieving soul.
In the punishment of the proud there is no remedy; for the plant of wickedness hath taken root in him.
The Lord hath
plucked up the roots of the proud nations, and
planted the lowly in their place.
They that fear the Lord are a sure seed, and they that love him an honourable
plant: they that regard not the law are a dishonourable seed; they that
transgress the commandments are a
deceivable seed.

exalted like a palm tree in En-
gaddi, and as a rose
plant in
Jericho, as a fair olive tree in a pleasant field, and grew up as a plane tree by the water.

For they
entreated him evil, who nevertheless was a prophet,
sanctified in his mother’s
womb, that he might root out, and
afflict, and destroy; and that he might build up also, and
plant.
But as for such as were building houses, or had
betrothed wives, or were
planting vineyards, or were fearful, those he commanded that they should return, every man to his own house, according to the law.
