portico of the temple and measured the side pillars of the
portico to be five cubits on each side. The width of the
gateway was fourteen cubits and its sidewalls were three cubits on either side.
The length of the
porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.

It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the same.
Only the prince himself may sit inside the
gateway to eat in the presence of the LORD. He must enter by way of the
portico of the
gateway and go out the same way.”
Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall offer an
oblation unto the LORD, an holy
portion of the land: the length shall be the length of five and twenty thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be holy in all the borders thereof round about.
“When you divide the land by lot as an inheritance, you are to set aside a portion for the LORD, a holy portion of the land 25,000 cubits long and 20,000 cubits wide. This entire tract of land will be holy.
And of this measure shalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand: and in it shall be the sanctuary and the most holy place.
From this holy portion, you are to measure off a length of 25,000 cubits and a width of 10,000 cubits, and in it will be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
The holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the sanctuary, which shall come near to minister unto the LORD: and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the sanctuary.
It will be a holy portion of the land to be used by the priests who minister in the sanctuary, who draw near to minister before the LORD. It will be a place for their houses, as well as a holy area for the sanctuary.
And ye shall
appoint the possession of the city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the
oblation of the holy
portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
As the property of the city, you are to set aside an area 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, adjacent to the holy district. It will belong to the whole house of Israel.
And a
portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the
oblation of the holy
portion, and of the possession of the city, before the
oblation of the holy
portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the
portions, from the west border unto the east border.

ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:

And the prince shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests sacrifice his burnt offerings and peace offerings. He is to bow in worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the
porch of that gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.
When the prince enters, he shall go in through the
portico of the
gateway, and he shall go out the same way.

Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to
Hamath, Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of
Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a
portion for
Dan.
“Now these are the names of the tribes: At the northern frontier,
Dan will have one
portion bordering the road of Hethlon to Lebo-
hamath and running on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus with
Hamath to the north, and extending from the east side to the west side.

portion for
Naphtali.

Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the
portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and the length of a
tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the sanctuary.
The
oblation that ye shall offer unto the LORD shall be of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth.

oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.
This will be the holy portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center will be the sanctuary of the LORD.

And the residue in length over against the
oblation of the holy
portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the

portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.

oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.
The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You are to set apart the holy portion, along with the city property.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the
portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy
portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy

This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their portions, saith the Lord GOD.
This is the land you are to
allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these will be their
portions,” declares the Lord GOD.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the
portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he
drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not
defile himself.
But Daniel made up his mind that he would not
defile himself with the king’s food or wine. So he asked the chief official for permission not to
defile himself.
Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
Then compare our appearances with those of the young men who are eating the royal food, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
And at the end of ten days, they looked healthier and better
nourished than all the young men who were eating the king’s food.
Thus Melzar took away the
portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them
pulse.
So the
steward continued to
withhold their choice food and the wine they were to drink, and he gave them vegetables instead.
Nevertheless leave the
stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the
dew of heaven, and let his
portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
But leave the
stump with its roots in the ground, and a band of iron and bronze around it, in the tender grass of the field. Let him be
drenched with the
dew of heaven and
graze with the beasts on the grass of the earth.
And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying,
Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the
stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the
dew of heaven, and let his
portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
And you, O king, saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying: ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the
stump with its roots in the ground, and a band of iron and bronze around it, in the tender grass of the field. Let him be
drenched with the
dew of heaven, and
graze with the beasts of the field till seven times pass him by.’
Yea, they that feed of the
portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
Those who eat from his provisions will seek to destroy him; his army will be swept away, and many will fall slain.
They have dealt
treacherously against the LORD: for they have
begotten strange children: now shall a month
devour them with their
portions.
They have been unfaithful to the LORD; for they have borne
illegitimate children. Now the New Moon will
devour them along with their land.
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD,
weep between the
porch and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Let the priests who minister before the LORD
weep between the
portico and the altar, saying, “
Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not make Your
heritage a reproach, an object of
scorn among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and
lament with a
doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly
spoiled: he hath changed the
portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
In that day they will take up a
proverb against you and
taunt you with this bitter
lamentation: ‘We are utterly ruined! He has changed the
portion of my people. How He has removed it from me! He has
allotted our fields to traitors.’”
Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their
drag; because by them their
portion is fat, and their meat
plenteous.
Therefore he sacrifices to his
dragnet and burns incense to his fishing net, for by these things his
portion is
sumptuous and his food is rich.
And the LORD shall
inherit Judah his
portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take
heed to your spirit, and let none deal
treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Has not the LORD made them one, having a
portion of the Spirit? And why one? Because He seeks godly offspring. So guard
yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
Then he will cut him to pieces and
assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.
For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
It is like a man going on a journey who left his house, put each servant in charge of his own task, and
instructed the
doorkeeper to keep watch.
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their
portion of meat in due season?
And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise
manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their
portion at the proper time?
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in
sunder, and will
appoint him his
portion with the unbelievers.
The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not
anticipate. Then he will cut him to pieces and
assign him a place with the unbelievers.
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep
listen for his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
With his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds for himself, but brought a portion and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath
prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Give back to her as she has done to others; pay her back double for what she has done;
mix her a double
portion in her own cup.
Moreover the
porters were at every gate; it was not lawful for any to go from his ordinary service: for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
The
porters: the sons of Salum, the sons of Jatal, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Dacobi, the sons of Teta, the sons of Sami, in all an hundred thirty and nine.
And so dwelt the priests and the Levites and the people in Jerusalem, and in the country, the singers also and the
porters; and all Israel in their villages.
And out of the tribute of Celosyria and Phenice a portion carefully to be given these men for the sacrifices of the Lord, that is, to Zorobabel the governor, for bullocks, and rams, and lambs;
The priests also and the Levites stood
arrayed in their
vestments, according to their kindreds, in the service of the Lord God of Israel, according to the book of Moses: and the
porters at every gate.
There went up with him also certain of the children of Israel, of the priest of the Levites, of the holy singers,
porters, and ministers of the temple, unto Jerusalem,
I command you also, that ye require no tax, nor any other imposition, of any of the priests, or Levites, or holy singers, or
porters, or ministers of the temple, or of any that have doings in this temple, and that no man have authority to
impose any thing upon them.
Of the
porters; Sallumus, and Tolbanes.
And I said, It is so, Lord. Then said he unto me, Even so also is Israel’s portion.
Also the Carmanians
raging in wrath shall go forth as the wild boars of the wood, and with great power shall they come, and join battle with them, and shall waste a
portion of the land of the Assyrians.
And in the passage they shall
rush on the idle city, and shall destroy some
portion of thy land, and
consume part of thy glory, and shall return to Babylon that was destroyed.
Despise not the
portion, which thou hast delivered out of Egypt for thine own self.
Let none of us go without his part of our
voluptuousness: let us leave
tokens of our
joyfulness in every place: for this is our
portion, and our lot is this.
Fear the Lord, and honor the priest; and give him his
portion, as it is commanded thee; the firstfruits, and the
trespass offering, and the gift of the shoulders, and the sacrifice of
sanctification, and the firstfruits of the holy things.
There is that waxeth rich by his
wariness and
pinching, and this his the
portion of his reward:
A
covetous man’s eye is not satisfied with his
portion; and the iniquity of the wicked drieth up his soul.
For in the division of the nations of the whole earth he set a ruler over every people; but Israel is the Lord’s portion:
And I took root in an honourable people, even in the portion of the Lord’s inheritance.
All wickedness is but little to the wickedness of a woman: let the
portion of a
sinner fall upon her.
A good wife is a good portion, which shall be given in the portion of them that fear the Lord.
A wicked woman is given as a portion to a wicked man: but a godly woman is given to him that feareth the Lord.
And if ye be born, ye shall be born to a
curse: and if ye die, a
curse shall be your
portion.
And to turn away thy face from thy
kinsman; or to take away a
portion or a gift; or to
gaze upon another man’s wife.
With Isaac did he establish likewise for Abraham his father’s sake the blessing of all men, and the covenant, And made it rest upon the head of Jacob. He acknowledged him in his blessing, and gave him an
heritage, and divided his
portions; among the twelve tribes did he part them.
Howbeit in the land of the people he had no inheritance, neither had he any
portion among the people: for the Lord himself is his
portion and inheritance.
When he took the
portions out of the priests’ hands, he himself stood by the
hearth of the altar, compassed about, as a young
cedar in Libanus; and as palm trees compassed they him round about.
Receive the sacrifice for thy whole people Israel, and preserve thine own
portion, and
sanctify it.
Now when the Jews heard of Nicanor’s coming, and that the heathen were up against them, they cast earth upon their heads, and made
supplication to him that had established his people for ever, and who always helpeth his
portion with
manifestation of his presence.
