queen before the king with the crown royal, to
shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.

And it was so, when the king saw
Esther the
queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to
Esther the golden
sceptre that was in his hand. So
Esther drew near, and touched the top of the
sceptre.

Queen Esther standing in the court, she found favor in his sight. The king extended the gold

Esther, and she approached and touched the

scepter.
Then said the king unto her, What
wilt thou,
queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

Queen Esther?” the king inquired. “What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given to you.”
Haman said moreover,
Yea,
Esther the
queen did let no man come in with the king unto the
banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to

Queen Esther invited no one but me to join the king at the
banquet she prepared, and I am invited back
tomorrow along with the king.
And the king said again unto

drank their wine on that second day, the king asked once more, “
Queen Esther, what is your petition? It will be given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”

Esther the
queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:

And the king arising from the
banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and
Haman stood up to make request for his life to
Esther the
queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
In his
fury, the king arose from drinking his wine and went to the palace garden, while
Haman stayed behind to
beg Queen Esther for his life, for he realized that the king was
planning a terrible fate for him.
Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the
banquet of wine; and
Haman was fallen upon the bed
whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the
queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.
Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the
banquet hall,
Haman was falling on the
couch where

reclining. The king

queen while I am in the palace?” As soon as the words had left the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.

who said to
Queen Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including

To
confirm these days of
Purim in their times appointed, according as
Mordecai the
Jew and
Esther the
queen had
enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.
in order to
confirm these days of
Purim at their appointed time, just as

Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the
queen in gold of
Ophir.
The daughters of kings are among your honored women; the
queen stands at your right hand, adorned with the gold of
Ophir.
There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and maidens without number,
My
dove, my
undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her;
yea, the
queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
but my
dove, my perfect one, is unique, the
favorite of the mother who bore her. The maidens see her and call her blessed; the
queens and concubines sing her praises.
Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
“Sit in silence and go into darkness, O Daughter of
Chaldea. For you will no longer be called the
queen of kingdoms.
And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou
didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither
didst remember the latter end of it.
You said, ‘I will be
queen forever.’ You did not take these things to heart or consider their outcome.
And kings shall be thy
nursing fathers, and their
queens thy
nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and
lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be
ashamed that wait for me.
Kings will be your
foster fathers, and their
queens your
nursing mothers. They will bow to you facedown and
lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”
The children gather wood, and the fathers
kindle the fire, and the women
knead their
dough, to make cakes to the
queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may
provoke me to anger.
The sons gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women
knead the
dough to make cakes for the
Queen of Heaven; they pour out drink offerings to other gods to
provoke Me to anger.
Say unto the king and to the
queen, Humble
yourselves, sit down: for your
principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
(This was after King Jeconiah, the
queen mother, the court officials, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the
craftsmen, and the metalsmiths had been exiled from Jerusalem.)
But we will certainly do
whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the
queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we
plenty of
victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
Instead, we will do everything we
vowed to do: We will burn incense to the
Queen of Heaven and offer drink offerings to her, just as we, our fathers, our kings, and our officials did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had
plenty of food and good things, and we saw no
disaster.
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?
“Moreover,” said the women, “when we burned incense to the
Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands’ knowledge that we made
sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have
vowed, to burn incense to the
queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely
accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands your words: ‘We will surely perform our vows that we have made to burn incense to the
Queen of Heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her.’ Go
ahead, then, do what you have promised! Keep your vows!
Thus
wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy
raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and
broidered work; thou
didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou
wast exceeding beautiful, and thou
didst prosper into a kingdom.
So you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was made of fine linen, silk, and
embroidered cloth. You
ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be
queen.
Now the
queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the
banquet house: and the
queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
Hearing the outcry of the king and his nobles, the
queen entered the
banquet hall. “O king, may you live
forever!” she said. “Do not let your thoughts
terrify you, or your face grow pale.
The
queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall
condemn it: for she came from the
uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
The
Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and
condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.
The
queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and
condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
The
Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and
condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of
Ethiopia, an
eunuch of great authority under
Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her
treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
So he started out, and on his way he met an
Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of
Candace,
queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
How much she hath
glorified herself, and lived
deliciously, so much
torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a
queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
As much as she has
glorified herself and lived in
luxury, give her the same measure of
torment and grief. In her heart she says, ‘I sit as
queen; I am not a widow and will never see grief.’
A little fountain became a river, and there was light, and the sun, and much water: this river is
Esther, whom the king married, and made
queen:
Queen Esther also, being in fear of death, resorted unto the Lord:
Then lifting up his countenance that
shone with majesty, he looked very fiercely upon her: and the
queen fell down, and was pale, and
fainted, and bowed herself upon the head of the
maid that went before her.
